During a confrontation, Jing Xiu exposed Jiuchen’s pretense, asserting that "Young Lord Song" and his arranged marriage to A'Mo were merely a facade, and that Doctor Song was certainly not fortunate enough to have a Heavenly High God as a son-in-law. Jiuchen acknowledged Jing Xiu's perception and advised him to return to the forest, emphasizing the difficulty of cultivating into human form and the futility of clinging to mortal vanity.
Jing Xiu coldly declared they would now rely on their own capabilities. As they exchanged blows in the forest, two mortals, Zhu Zizai and his apprentice, witnessed their battle. Zhu Zizai, eager to cultivate to become an immortal, excitedly prepared to pay respects, but the powerful residual energy from the fight sent him sprawling. Realizing mortals had witnessed their battle, both Jiuchen and Jing Xiu vanished. Meanwhile, Qingyao was preparing new medicinal formulas when High God Yunfeng entered, arguing loudly.
Qingyao stopped Yunfeng, drawing his attention to the "Heavenly Poison Ants" crawling on the floor. She explained that these ants, rumored to be the favored pets of the ancient Poison Queen Mingyu, carried a lethal venom capable of drying blood and dissolving bones within four hours, even in the body of a high god. Seeing Yunfeng's visible discomfort, Qingyao collected the ants into a vial.
When Yunfeng questioned why she possessed such dangerous creatures, Qingyao clarified that the ants contained a unique fluid that could focus the mind and eliminate confusion, making them crucial for refining "mind-arousing pills" essential for the Heavenly Race's War Division. Yunfeng then informed Qingyao that Yuan Tong had been demoted and dispatched to guard Dark Capital Mountain.
Qingyao explained that Yuan Tong's subordinate had visited her for mind-arousing medicine the previous day, because the demonic aura at Dark Capital Mountain was too strong. Qingyao added that Heavenly Poison Ants feared nothing but the sun, which could significantly alter their efficacy. Yunfeng expressed shock that Qingyao had allowed them to be exposed to the sun, fearing Yuan Tong might suffer a qi deviation.
Qingyao remained composed, stating that if Yuan Tong were to be demonized, Yunfeng would fulfill his duty to subdue the monsters and eliminate the demons. Upon returning to Peach Forest, Qingyao found Hualiao tipsily mumbling phrases like "Who fermented a heart?" under a tree, explaining she had been drinking with Chengyan to ensure he got drunk and wouldn't go seeking fights, knowing how much he missed his Teacher Le Bo and Immortal Lingxi.
Qingyao then entered the house, finding Chengyan polishing his sword. Chengyan sarcastically remarked on her composure as a High Immortal from the Heavenly Palace, accusing her of forgetting the deaths of their Teacher and Lingxi, and of returning to their enemies' side to use their Teacher's medical skills to heal them. Chengyan passionately reminded her that without parents, their Teacher had raised them and shared his lifelong skills, questioning Qingyao's heartlessness.
Qingyao silently endured his outburst before calmly responding that vengeance was easy to speak of but difficult to execute, highlighting Chengyan's own failed attempts. She explained that Yuan Tong was a High God commanding a War Division troop, making her an insurmountable foe for Chengyan, even if injured.
Qingyao confessed that her pain and sadness over their Teacher's death were no less than his, stressing that now was not the time for revenge, revealing that Lingxi was still alive, thanks to Jiuchen, who had risked immense danger to use a secret technique to remove the demonic aura from Lingxi's body. She emphasized the critical need to keep this secret from both the Heavenly Race and the Demon Tribe, as exposure would doom Lingxi and implicate Jiuchen.
Qingyao revealed she had withheld this information from Chengyan due to his impulsive nature, reiterating that Lingxi's safe return was currently paramount. Lin Mo, reluctant to return home due to the two men there, inquired with Doctor Sun if she needed help with night shifts. Doctor Sun, sensing her dilemma, advised her to face whatever lay ahead. As Lin Mo stepped out, she found Jing Xiu waiting.
She cautiously asked him if he and Lord Song were getting along well at home. Jing Xiu responded that things were "not bad," reassuring her that he wouldn't suffer. He acknowledged her past hearing disorder and difficult childhood, which had made her cautious and guarded, but expressed his belief that she was intelligent enough to discern true kindness, urging her to shed her past burdens and live each day happily, encouraging her not to belittle herself.
Touched by his words, Lin Mo smiled as Jing Xiu changed the subject and offered to buy her a candy man from a nearby vendor. Jiuchen had also intended to pick up Lin Mo from work but had been deliberately delayed by small tricks set by Jing Xiu. When he finally arrived, he saw Jing Xiu and Lin Mo approaching, chatting and laughing. Jiuchen ignored Jing Xiu, informing Lin Mo that he had planned to fetch her.
He then picked up the candy man Lin Mo held, disparaged its crude craftsmanship and ugly appearance, and "accidentally" dropped and shattered it on the ground, promising to buy her another tomorrow. Lin Mo was left speechless by his behavior. Upon returning home, Lin Mo discovered the house in disarray and the roof severely damaged, a result of Jiuchen and Jing Xiu's earlier magical skirmish.
Jing Xiu promptly offered to fix it by tomorrow, and Jiuchen, not to be outdone, also claimed he knew how to repair it. Unwilling to engage further with their rivalry, Lin Mo took Xiao Bai out for a walk. Lin Mo left, the tension between the two men escalated, and soon, by analyzing each other's combat styles and behavior, they deduced each other's true identities.
Jiuchen recognized Jing Xiu as State Preceptor Jing Xiu of the Shanling Tribe, while Jing Xiu identified Jiuchen as the God of War, Jiuchen. Jiuchen later found Lin Mo by the river, playing with Wuwan, and commented that the "little beast" was acting more and more like a common dog. Lin Mo corrected him, insisting Wuwan was indeed a small dog.
Jiuchen seriously explained that Wuwan was not a dog, but an ancient mythical beast called Bai Ze, a symbol of good luck, capable of understanding human language and knowing all things once it matured. Lin Mo, however, simply dismissed it as a result of him reading too many random books. Seizing the opportunity, Lin Mo confided her decision to Jiuchen, explaining that her life was now incredibly happy, far more so than before.
Her hearing disorder was healed, she could speak, and she had found a job. Learning medicine from her teacher daily, saving lives, and earning her own living made her feel grounded and relaxed for the first time in her life. She loved her current days and had no intention of returning home with Jiuchen.
Jiuchen responded that he hadn't planned to make her return, and stated that since she refused to go back, he would stay to accompany her, as he wasn't at ease leaving her alone. Lin Mo countered that she wasn't alone, which provoked Jiuchen.
He retorted that it was precisely "because" she wasn't alone that he was even more worried, pointing out that she called Jing Xiu "Brother Xiu" but referred to him only as "Lord Song," implying a closer relationship with Jing Xiu. Lin Mo, unsure how to answer, quickly departed as thunder rumbled in the distance. Back at the house, Jing Xiu was waiting for them.
Seeing the renewed tension between Jiuchen and Lin Mo, Lin Mo quickly took Wuwan to her room. Jing Xiu then confronted Jiuchen, asking if the Heavenly Race knew about Lin Mo's presence or if saving her was solely his own doing. Jiuchen demanded to know Jing Xiu's intention. Jing Xiu declared that he had no control over the past, but from that moment forward, he would take responsibility for Lin Mo's future.
Jiuchen narrowed his eyes, asking if Jing Xiu was truly set on competing with him. Jing Xiu acknowledged Jiuchen as the God of War, renowned for his fighting prowess, and proposed they each rely on their own capabilities. Jiuchen agreed, sealing the silent challenge. In a separate turn of events, Qingyao informed Yunfeng that she had revealed Lingxi's survival to Chengyan, hoping to curb his persistent attempts at vengeance.
Yunfeng agreed, acknowledging that the secret could not be kept much longer. As they discussed Jiuchen's whereabouts, Yuli suddenly appeared, having eavesdropped. She cornered Yunfeng, demanding to know where Jiuchen was. Yunfeng accused her of eavesdropping, but Yuli retorted that it was her house, pointing out Yunfeng's frequent presence in their manor with Qingyao, hinting at impropriety. Qingyao excused herself.
The Lord of Heavenly Medicine, Yuli's father, then appeared, and sternly admonished Yuli for visiting Fuyun Hall, where Yunfeng often resided, and for acting like a common mortal woman, insisting that as a High Immortal, she should maintain decorum and allow her parents to arrange her marriage to a suitable partner.
Yuli defiantly declared that her choice in a man was her own, asserting that she had loved him for tens of thousands of years and would secure her own future if her father refused to consent. Her father, enraged by her insolence, called her unruly. However, the Heavenly Emperor had already issued a decree, and Yunfeng was summoned and informed that the Heavenly Emperor had benevolently granted a marriage between him and Yuli.
The next morning, Lin Mo prepared tools and called out to the two men to fix the damaged roof. Jing Xiu feigned a recent eye injury, subtly using a spell to make Jiuchen stumble and fall from the ladder. Jiuchen, feigning clumsiness, refused to continue. Jing Xiu also declined, citing his still blurry vision and the risk of a worse fall. Seeing their antics, Lin Mo decided to climb the ladder herself.
Just then, Aunt Guan arrived, furious to see Lin Mo on the roof while the two robust men stood idly below, rebuking them for being useless, mere decorations. Lin Mo, distracted by Aunt Guan's outburst, nearly lost her footing, but Jiuchen and Jing Xiu subtly used their magic to stabilize her.
Aunt Guan then pulled Lin Mo into the kitchen, shooing the two men away, and questioned Lin Mo about Jing Xiu's family background and assets, but Lin Mo admitted she knew nothing, having only taken him in when he was blind. Aunt Guan then pressed her about Jiuchen, to which Lin Mo explained he was the son of her father's friend, and they had an engagement.
Growing increasingly frustrated, Aunt Guan asked Lin Mo about her true feelings for the two men. Lin Mo asserted that she was perfectly capable of living on her own. Aunt Guan, exasperated, scolded her for such a foolish notion and stormed out, again scolding Jiuchen and Jing Xiu for simply eating without doing any work. As Lin Mo prepared food, Jing Xiu found his golden thumb ring inside a shattered flower vase, which Lin Mo was supposed to have sold.
He used the opportunity to tell Lin Mo that he was an official in his hometown, possessing a house, land, fields, shops, and many servants. Just as he was about to elaborate, Jiuchen intervened by assisting Lin Mo as she nearly burned herself, subtly showcasing his attentiveness and care.
