As dusk settled, Jiuchen returned to the Purple Cloud Platform and, using the Farmer God's Cauldron, began to gather Lingxi's scattered soul fragments. He then hurried to the Polar Abyss with Wuwan. After entrusting Wuwan to the gatekeeper immortal, Jiuchen rushed into his room, where he continued using the cauldron to reassemble Lingxi's soul. However, the last wisp of her spirit stubbornly refused to return, leading Jiuchen to speculate that Lingxi harbored resentment towards him.

Desperate as time ran short, Jiuchen disregarded his own weakened state. He transformed into his true form to forcefully summon Lingxi's soul, ultimately exhausting his magic and collapsing. As he fell, the Immortal Knot he carried slipped from his grasp, and the Zhurong Fire Essence Lingxi had hidden within it soared out, hovering over his body. The gatekeeper immortal heard the commotion, sighed, and sent a divine pigeon to notify Yunfeng.

Soon after, Yunfeng and Qingyao arrived and were astonished to see the fire essence. Qingyao identified it as a treasure of extreme heat capable of sustaining all life, and Yunfeng quickly guided it into Jiuchen's body. Meanwhile, Jing Xiu informed the Heavenly Emperor of Lingxi's true identity and pleaded for him to pardon Ling Yue for trespassing on the Purple Cloud Platform, given her grief.

The Heavenly Emperor expressed deep regret, admitting that had he known Lingxi was a princess of the Shanling Tribe, he would never have executed her without notifying her family. Out of magnanimity, the Heavenly Emperor decided against pursuing the matter further and, as a gesture of condolence, instructed Baishan to prepare gifts for Ling Yue. Back in the Shanling State, Jing Xiu faced Ling Yue's anticipated fury.

After he reported on his visit to the Heavenly Court, Ling Yue, blaming him for Lingxi's death, sarcastically lauded him as a loyal State Preceptor before ordering his arrest. When Jing Xiu calmly asked about his crimes, Ling Yue had an official enumerate his five major offenses: extravagance and overstepping his authority by building a private ancestral temple; executing meritorious officials, provoking rebellion; arbitrary and unfair governance; disloyalty and deceit towards his sovereign; and abuse of power, causing widespread resentment.

Ling Yue declared his crimes unpardonable and ordered him imprisoned in the forbidden land to await trial. Confined, Jing Xiu harbored no resentment, his thoughts drifting to his childhood. He recalled being bullied and how only Princess Ling Yue had believed his father had not colluded with the Demon Tribe, bravely defending him. It was Ling Yue who later overthrew Yuandu, the man who betrayed Jing Xiu's father, avenging his bloodline and cementing Jing Xiu's unwavering loyalty.

His reverie was broken when Ling Yue arrived with Grandmother Shi. Refusing to meet her gaze, Jing Xiu listened as an infuriated Ling Yue accused him of deception, claiming his lies led to her 50,000-year separation from her daughter and Lingxi's tragic death. Jing Xiu maintained that he had never deceived her; rather, she had broken her promise by allowing Yuandu to live.

Ling Yue scoffed, venomously stating she always knew his assistance was merely a means to use her to eliminate Yuandu. She scorned him for betraying his own family out of cowardice, which led to the death of his father and brother, declaring him unworthy of being a Xuan Bird clansman and having no right to seek revenge while Yuandu still lived. Finally agitated, Jing Xiu retorted that he was forced, but offered no further explanation.

Ling Yue dismissed his claim, informing him that his subordinates were in custody and that he would pay for her daughter's life in the netherworld. With the Zhurong Fire Essence, Jiuchen's life was saved. Qingyao warned him that although his cold disease was cured, he must not use any more divine magic. Murmuring that Lingxi had saved him, Jiuchen immediately rushed off to continue reconstructing her physical form.

Yunfeng chastised him for the "life-for-a-life" exchange, but Jiuchen simply replied, "So what?" Qingyao, relieved that Lingxi could be saved, felt she had fulfilled her duty to her master. Yunfeng reflected that for a man to use half his life's essence to recreate a woman's body was not merely kindness, but a testament to Jiuchen's profound love for Lingxi.

At noon, Jiuchen stood by the Immortal Cleansing Pond and, with a lingering gaze, gently sent Lingxi's newly formed body down to begin her journey in the mortal realm. In the Great Yue State, Nanny Jiang of a benevolent orphanage discovered a wailing infant wrapped in swaddling clothes at her doorstep—Lingxi's reincarnation. Coincidentally, a local official, Lin Shaohai, was seeking a newborn, and Nanny Jiang entrusted the baby to him.

Lord Lin promised that the child would become the eldest daughter of the Lin family, assured of a prosperous and safe life. Lord Lin and his wife were deeply in love, but his mother was anxious for a grandchild. As his wife had not conceived, they devised a plan to fake a pregnancy and adopt a child on the day of the "delivery."

Lin Shaohai secretly passed Lingxi through a back window into the delivery room while his mother waited anxiously outside. Invisibly, Jiuchen and Siming observed from within the residence. When Jiuchen instinctively moved toward Lingxi, Siming stopped him, explaining that after this mortal life and its three trials, Lingxi would be purged of her demonic aura and achieve true rebirth. Jiuchen's heart ached for the suffering she would endure.

Siming sighed, noting that Jiuchen himself knew suffering best, and hoped Lingxi would not waste his profound efforts. Upon learning Lingxi's whereabouts, Yunfeng hurried to the Peach Forest. He playfully teased an impatient Qingyao before she grabbed his hand, desperate for news. Secretly delighted, Yunfeng revealed everything but warned her not to visit Lingxi, as any interference could alter her destiny and undo all of Jiuchen's work. Lingxi grew into a delicate child.

Though her adoptive mother, Lady Lin, had wished for a son, she doted on Lingxi. One day, a servant dropped a teacup, but the sleeping infant showed no reaction. Alarmed, Lady Lin suspected a health issue. Hearing of a skilled new doctor in town, she took Lingxi for a consultation. The doctor was Qingyao.

Maintaining a calm demeanor despite her inner excitement, she examined Lingxi and regretfully informed Lady Lin that the child had a congenital hearing disorder that could not be cured. The implications of raising a disabled child, and one who was not her biological daughter, caused Lady Lin's mind to spiral. Trembling, she reached for a pillow, contemplating smothering the infant.
