This, however, drew light laughter from the noble ladies below. What was unexpected, though, was that Minister Mo announced that all the noble ladies in this competition were tense and overly reserved, and only noble lady Caiqian of the Yin family stood out. This delighted Caiqian, leaving the other noble ladies bewildered.

Privately, the princes discussed that Caiqian's victory in the third round should actually be voided; it was a tie, so an additional round was needed. Yuan Li, however, proposed that instead of repeated similar competitions, there should be an innovative one. This final round should be a drinking contest.

Yuan Li presented his convoluted reasoning so logically that he even gained the approval of the other princes. Yuan Ling cast a sidelong glance at his twelfth brother, who was sincerely causing trouble, and was momentarily at a loss for what to do. The fourth round, a drinking competition, began. Feng Qingchen, Duo Xia, and Caiqian, who had won previously, sat at the wine table, each refusing to yield, drinking bowl after bowl.

After several cups of wine, Caiqian and Duo Xia gradually lost their stamina, and Feng Qingchen also felt dizzy and passed out. Yuan Ling pulled the intoxicated Feng Qingchen, playfully scolding her for trying so hard when she couldn't drink. Feng Qingchen, however, retorted angrily, "How can I win if I don't try? How can I become Prince Ling's Consort if I don't win?" At this moment, Feng Qingchen's face was slightly flushed with wine, her cheeks rosy.

Yuan An looked around, then asked Yuan Zhan for his opinion. Yuan Zhan suggested that Duo Xia participate in Great Wei's autumn military drills.

Perhaps she would witness the excellence of the other princes and make a different decision. Feng Qingchen learned that Yuan An had issued an imperial decree for her, Duo Xia, and Caiqian to participate in the Royal Military Exercise, which would take place in Lijingtian. Feng Qingchen, feeling uneasy, met Yuan Ling at Muyuan Hall, hoping he wouldn't participate in this military exercise because she foresaw Yuan Ling being assassinated in Lijingtian.

Yuan Ling, however, dismissed her concerns, believing that resolving issues didn't necessarily mean escaping; the best defense was offense. With that, he unhesitatingly pulled Feng Qingchen into a deep kiss. Duo Xia, upon hearing about the military exercise, praised it, saying she wondered whose suggestion it was. This move could avoid offending the A'chai tribe and allow Yuan Ling to observe further; truly killing two birds with one stone.

Yuan Hao told the Eleventh Prince that the Royal Military Exercise was imminent, and he planned to first invite the princes to appreciate flowers so everyone would be in good spirits for the exercise. The Eleventh Prince happily planned to implement this, but Yuan Hao reminded him to deal with Caiqian's matter soon.

Inside Lijingtian, Feng Qingchen hoped that Tao Yao, when setting up the formation, could find a way to make her hibiscus stone resonate with the golden phoenix stone within the formation, helping her to acquire the golden phoenix stone first. Tao Yao, learning that Feng Qingchen had a premonition of Prince Ling's danger, wondered if this was the intuition between the twin stars. The princes were invited to appreciate flowers.

Yuan Ming saw Yuan Zhan standing alone at the side and stepped forward to suggest, "Why doesn't Seventh Brother marry Princess Duo Xia himself? This would both ease Father Emperor's worries and fulfill Fourth Brother's wish. Wouldn't everyone be happy?" Before Yuan Zhan could answer, Yuan Li quipped, "Ninth Brother has been without Ninth Sister for many years; it would be better if he married Duo Xia himself."

Yuan Ming was furious upon hearing this, believing it to be disrespectful to Xianwu. In a moment of desperation, the two even started fighting. Watching the princes in a commotion, Yuan Zhan calmly played his flute, appearing as if it had nothing to do with him. It wasn't until Yuan Ling arrived and shouted angrily that the farce stopped. The princes came before Yuan An to confess their guilt, but none were willing to tell the truth.

In a fit of anger, Yuan An ordered all of them to receive ten planks each. The princes lay prostrate on benches, enduring the punishment, all looking miserable. However, except for Yuan Li, not a single one uttered a sound. Although these princes had vastly different personalities, they were all upright and steadfast men.

In the evening, Yuan Ming met Wu Pinging again and instructed her to make all the necessary preparations, because there were some people he didn't want to see return alive. Caiqian came to find the Eleventh Prince, cheerfully asking about his injuries. The Eleventh Prince was delighted to hear this. Unexpectedly, Caiqian suddenly began to unbutton her clothes, startling the Eleventh Prince, who quickly turned away. But Caiqian smiled proudly, saying that no one could stop what she, Yin Caiqian, wanted to accomplish.
