Luo Ailian was detained in the woodshed. Luo Xueer sent the guards away, hoping Luo Ailian could take the opportunity to escape, but Luo Ailian wanted to stay to investigate the cause of her father's death. Luo Xueer wanted Luo Ailian to first ensure her own safety and investigate the truth later, and that she would stay in the manor to look for clues.

With Luo Xueer's help, Luo Ailian left the Luo manor, but she worried that Luo Xueer would be implicated due to her escape. She wanted to return to the Luo manor but unexpectedly found that the carriage driver was Xu Chengfeng in disguise. Xu Chengfeng chose to believe Luo Ailian this once, accepted the jade pendant as a token, and left Luo Ailian a flare signal for future contact.

Luo Ailian returned to the Luo manor and indeed found agarwood powder in Luo Shuangshuang's room, unable to understand why she would harm their father. Divine Doctor Miao suggested putting Danqing's face onto the disfigured Luo Ailian's face, so that Old Master Shen would not worsen his condition due to the loss of his daughter. Even as a substitute, Shen Danqing's life might be able to continue in this way.

Luo Ailian, who woke up from her coma, overheard their conversation. She was willing to accept the face change and endure the pain to survive. After a process of changing her face and rebirth, Luo Ailian saw her new face and realized that she had met Shen Danqing once at the temple. Shen Zishan learned that the woman he rescued was the eldest daughter of the Luo family from Ganlutang, Luo Ailian.

When she was tied up in the Luo family ancestral hall and struggled to escape, she was subjected to further harm. It was her maid Bin Er who desperately rescued Luo Ailian, but Bin Er accidentally fell into the ancestral hall and died in the Luo manor in place of Luo Ailian.

Zhou Yiniang, on the grounds that a person who murdered their father was not worthy of being buried in the Luo family, threw the body of "Luo Ailian" from the fire into a mass grave. Luo Xueer found her mother Zhou Yiniang's network pouch in the fire ruins and didn't understand why Zhou Yiniang had been to the ancestral hall. Zhou Yiniang ordered people to spread rumors, saying that the Luo family's legitimate daughter, angered that her father had married her off to the Du family for a ghost marriage, murdered her father and then set herself on fire in the ancestral hall. In order to make Luo Ailian become Shen Danqing, Shen Zishan compiled the growth experiences he shared with his sister.

Luo Ailian learned that Shen Danqing liked painting birds and had excellent martial skills, and she also promised Shen Zishan that she would fulfill Shen Danqing's duties, but she was unwilling to give up revenge. Shen Zishan, however, hoped that Luo Ailian would forget her past and become Shen Danqing in the future.
