Zhao Jin explained they were visiting Shi Ran, who was staying with Xu Nuo. Peng Yu'an pretended to not suspect anything, yet he shared that he had been stopped at Xu Nuo's door earlier, where he noticed a man's shoe.
He claimed he almost misunderstood Xu Nuo and felt relieved now knowing it was Zhao Jin and Xu Yang. Peng Yu'an emphasized the importance of transparency. Later, Peng Yu'an called Xu Yang, who was with Shi Ran. Xu Yang frankly confirmed his and Zhao Jin's brief presence at Xu Nuo's and advised Peng Yu'an not to overthink. Back at Xu Nuo's, Shi Ran informed her that Peng Yu'an and Zhao Jin were drinking together. Peng Yu'an received Xu Nuo's call and, while still with Zhao Jin, boasted about Xu Nuo taking the initiative to contact him, implying a reconciliation. However, Zhao Jin provocatively challenged Peng Yu'an to invite Xu Nuo to join them at the bar rather than going to her. Peng Yu'an became visibly angry, and a colleague intervened to separate them. Peng Yu'an then left to meet Xu Nuo.
Upon his arrival at Xu Nuo's apartment, Peng Yu'an found Shi Ran there, who attempted to mediate the conversation. Peng Yu'an's mother then met with Peng Yu'an's father, telling him to stop pressuring their son to marry Cong Shan, asserting that such a marriage would inevitably end in divorce. She even offered a concession in their property settlement if he agreed. Zhao Jin brought Xiao Qin and her cat, Big Face, to Xu Nuo's. Xu Nuo assured Xiao Qin that she could visit Big Face anytime. Zhao Jin playfully teased Xu Nuo for her initial dislike of cats.
The three then went for a walk in the snow. Xu Nuo noticed Xiao Qin's rare happiness, but Zhao Jin revealed that Xiao Qin suffered from severe anemia, requiring frequent rest and regular hospital visits, and that her condition could worsen at any time. Xu Nuo's mother confirmed the breakup, expressing her reluctance to accept it.
