Zhao Jin and his younger sister, Zhao Qin, looked at childhood photos on the bed, reminiscing happily. Zhao Qin teased Zhao Jin, saying he was cute as a child but annoying now, to which Zhao Jin retorted that he was much cuter than her when they were kids. Zhao Qin noted that Xu Nuo resembled their mother, especially since they both liked flowers. Zhao Jin then promised to take Zhao Qin and Xiao Bai out to play that weekend.
Meanwhile, Xu Yang was at Shi Ran's house drinking. After they finished, Xu Yang, clearly intoxicated, struggled to find his way out. Shi Ran, seeing his state, helped him leave, but he ended up spending the night there. The next morning, Shi Ran woke a groggy Xu Yang, who felt like vomiting. He even tried to convince her to drink more, but she refused. At the pet hospital, Zhao Jin’s partner, Sister Hong, noticed his cheerful mood.
She teased him, attributing his happiness to Xu Nuo, suggesting that Xu Nuo had "trained him well." Zhao Jin returned the compliment, asking Sister Hong about her secret to daily happiness. She explained that having a nice husband, child, and pleasant colleagues made her happy. She emphasized the importance of liking the people around you, both at work and in life, for motivation and happiness.
Elsewhere, Xu Nuo was teaching Zhao Qin how to arrange flowers, instructing her on how to trim thorns and leaves and arrange them aesthetically. While at home editing photos and videos he had taken with Zhao Qin, Xiao Bai suddenly felt dizzy and began experiencing hallucinations, seeing Zhao Qin's image. He decided to rest. The following day, Zhao Qin repeatedly tried to call Xiao Bai, but he didn't answer.
Concerned, especially since they had plans, Zhao Qin decided to go to his house. Upon arriving at Xiao Bai's home, Zhao Qin found him unwell. Although he initially claimed he had simply fallen asleep and forgotten their outing plans due to staying up late, he eventually admitted to feeling a little unwell. He urged Zhao Qin not to cancel her plans with her brother because of him, insisting he just needed rest.
Despite Zhao Qin's offer to stay, Xiao Bai, feigning composure, sent her off, telling her to have fun and take many photos. Zhao Jin, Xu Nuo, and Zhao Qin headed out for their outing. Zhao Qin was initially moody in the car, but they brightened up during the mountain hike, despite Zhao Qin's complaints about it being tiring and not a "real" outing. Zhao Jin even playfully offered her a discount at his gym.
While resting and eating, Xu Nuo noticed Zhao Qin seemed distant. Zhao Jin reassured Xu Nuo that Xiao Bai was fine, just tired from not resting well the previous night, and Xu Nuo went to talk to Zhao Qin. Xu Nuo found Zhao Qin and offered her some food. Zhao Qin, looking solemn, told Xu Nuo that she must never break up with Zhao Jin, emphasizing that two people in love should stay together forever.
Later, the three of them took a group photo, with Zhao Qin suggesting that Xu Nuo place it by her bedside as an incentive for Zhao Qin to visit more often. Afterward, Xu Nuo surprised Zhao Jin by presenting him with a handmade grass ring and asking if he wanted it.
When he seemed hesitant, she admitted her lack of self-esteem but quickly stated she couldn't wait any longer, and helped him put the ring on, to which he responded warmly. On the drive home, Zhao Jin tried to wake Zhao Qin, but she was unresponsive and had fallen unconscious. Panicked, Zhao Jin rushed her to the hospital. While waiting anxiously in the corridor, Xu Nuo tried to comfort him and urged him to get some sleep.
Zhao Jin eventually dozed off and had a vivid dream about his mother leaving him and Zhao Qin when they were children, despite his desperate pleas. In the dream, his mother promised to return for them once she was settled, and Zhao Jin, in turn, promised his sister that he would always be there for her. A nurse woke Zhao Jin, informing him that Zhao Qin had regained consciousness but had severely low immunity and was in an isolation ward.
Both Zhao Jin and Xu Nuo had to wear protective gowns to visit her. Inside, Zhao Qin, though dizzy, remembered Xu Nuo giving Zhao Jin a ring and asked when he would give one to Xu Nuo. Xu Nuo promised it would happen after Zhao Qin recovered, leading Zhao Qin to express a desire to get well soon.
Later, the doctor informed Zhao Jin about Zhao Qin's rapidly dropping hemoglobin, increased bone marrow granular nonhematopoietic cells and fat cells, and other concerning symptoms, indicating a severe condition that might require an immediate bone marrow transplant. Both Zhao Jin and his father were not successful matches, so they had to wait for the Chinese Bone Marrow Bank.
Distraught, Zhao Jin's father offered to donate, hoping it would help, but was told he couldn't due to being over 45 years old. The doctor also revealed that Zhao Jin had already donated for his sister. Zhao Qin, aware of the gravity of her situation, apologized to Xu Nuo, feeling like a burden, but Xu Nuo reassured her, saying that Zhao Qin was instrumental in bringing her and Zhao Jin together and urged her to focus on recovery.
She also mentioned that only Xu Nuo could help Zhao Jin sleep well when he suffered from insomnia due to worry. Returning home from work, Zhao Jin found Xu Nuo waiting for him on the sofa. Xu Nuo explained that Zhao Qin had contacted her, anticipating Zhao Jin might have trouble sleeping due to worry. Xu Nuo offered to help him sleep, acknowledging it might be a difficult task and that she might also experience insomnia with him.
Zhao Jin confessed that his greatest gain from meeting her was having someone he always thought of first, which made him feel stronger and braver, as he used to only pretend to be brave. Xu Nuo affirmed her commitment, stating she wanted to experience everything with him, good or bad, happy or unhappy, and urged him to learn to rely on her as well. That evening, Zhao Qin received a video call from Xiao Bai.
He expressed concern about her condition, asking if she was feeling better and if there were any bleeding symptoms. Zhao Qin, feigning calmness, assured him her situation was stable but admitted she was still in isolation. When Xiao Bai asked if she was afraid, she initially deflected, but he encouraged her to be vulnerable with him, saying he understood her and that she could be a coward in front of him.
He then confessed his own fears of hospitals, injections, and even people in white coats, prompting Zhao Qin to declare she would be his "back" from now on, a sentiment he reciprocated. That night, Xu Nuo attempted to help Zhao Jin fall asleep by teaching him the "478 Breathing Method," a technique said to induce sleep within 60 seconds. She suggested he follow her breathing rhythm instead of counting. After they exchanged "I love yous," Xu Nuo fell asleep first.
She later woke to find Zhao Jin had moved to sleep on the living room sofa, and she silently joined him there, sitting by his side and watching him. The next day at the hospital, the doctor informed Zhao Jin that Zhao Qin's condition was stable, with no signs of infection, and she might be moved to a general ward soon.
As Zhao Jin and Xu Nuo were preparing to visit her, Zhao Jin's ex-wife suddenly appeared, having come to visit Zhao Qin. She noticed Zhao Jin looked tired and commented that she knew he wouldn't rest well when Zhao Qin was sick, even suggesting he listen to ocean waves (white noise) to sleep better, revealing her familiarity with his habits. She handed Zhao Jin something she had made for Zhao Qin before leaving.
Later, Xu Nuo asked Zhao Jin about his sleep and the "ocean waves" method, teasing him for not sharing such an effective method. At her laundry shop, Xu Nuo's mother received an unexpected package that caused her to frown after she opened it. Shortly after, she called Xu Nuo, inviting Zhao Jin over for dinner. Xu Nuo was apprehensive, fearing her mother might say unpleasant things.
Despite Zhao Jin's willingness to go and even buy a gift, Xu Nuo changed her mind upon arriving at her parents' doorstep. She abruptly told Zhao Jin to leave, saying she needed to handle some things at home first and would join him later. Inside, Xu Nuo's mother immediately questioned Xu Nuo about Zhao Jin's absence, seemingly upset that he had prepared to come.
Her mother then unexpectedly revealed that she didn't want Xu Nuo to remarry Ren Jun, leading to an argument with Xu Nuo's father, who was clearly aware of the situation. Xu Nuo's mother then turned back to Xu Nuo, demanding to know how much she truly knew about Zhao Jin.
