After meeting with Peng Yuan, Shi Ran discreetly returned to the flower shop, hoping Xu Nuo wouldn't find out about their encounter. When Xu Nuo questioned her about her whereabouts, Shi Ran spoke hesitantly, claiming she went out to enjoy the good weather and buy coffee, even though the shop had an expensive coffee machine. She eventually admitted to secretly going shopping and spending money randomly, challenging Xu Nuo's right to control her.
Later, Shi Ran had dinner with Xu Yang and brought up Valentine's Day. She asked him what he had given her since they started dating, listing "cat food, socks, and a body warmer" as his previous gifts. Shi Ran then pointed to her bag, which she had been using for four or five years, and expressed her desire for a new one.
Xu Yang argued that her current bag was a classic and she already owned several, but Shi Ran insisted that women always need more bags and clothes. She threatened to make him "feel the pain" and withhold her love if he didn't get her a gift, to which Xu Yang conceded, agreeing to buy her any bag she desired. Shi Ran and Xu Yang then called Zhao Jin to join them.
Shi Ran informed Zhao Jin that Peng Yuan had "already started taking action" and asked if he was ready. Zhao Jin, however, expressed more concern for Xu Nuo's safety, fearing she might get into trouble alone. He highlighted the potential complications involving Peng Yuan's challenge and "Ms. Tian" (Tian Muchu, his ex-wife) and her child. After the meeting, Zhao Jin immediately called Xu Nuo to check on her, asking her whereabouts and expressing his worry.

Peng Yuan, unwilling to give up, presented a contract to Xu Nuo's parents, offering to invest in her mother's laundry shop, hoping to win them over to his side. Xu Nuo's mother enthusiastically urged her husband to sign the contract, and they agreed to discuss Xu Nuo's marriage with Peng Yuan's parents. They assured Peng Yuan they would help him with Xu Nuo. After Xu Nuo left, Peng Yuan's father probed Peng Yuan, asking if Xu Nuo liked someone else.
He noted Xu Nuo's confidence and intelligence in their conversation, but still felt she was unsuitable for Peng Yuan. He advised Peng Yuan to "let it go without hesitation" if he knew he had lost. At dinner, Zhao Jin noticed his sister, Xiao Qin, constantly looking at her phone. When he inquired about it, she was evasive and tried to leave, feeling unwell but claiming she was "fine" to avoid worrying him.
Zhao Jin later called Xu Nuo, inviting her to meet his father. Xu Nuo was a mix of excitement and apprehension, fearing Zhao Jin's father might not approve of her. Zhao Jin reassured her that his father was very kind. Xu Nuo also shared her concerns about her mother's disapproval and the possibility of her parents reconciling. Zhao Jin calmly acknowledged the challenges but maintained his happiness in their relationship, telling her not to be anxious.
After hanging up, Xu Nuo, eager to see Zhao Jin, impulsively rushed to his apartment building. There, she ran into Shi Ran, who playfully teased her about "sleepwalking" to a man's house in broad daylight. As they chatted, Shi Ran spotted Zhao Jin's ex-wife, Tian Muchu, arriving with a child. Shi Ran feigned ignorance of the woman, but Xu Nuo was suspicious, wondering if Shi Ran had seen a "love rival." Shi Ran then called Zhao Jin downstairs. Once downstairs, a nervous Shi Ran and Zhao Jin tried to escort Xu Nuo away, but Xu Nuo sensed their unusual behavior. Under her persistent questioning, Zhao Jin was forced to reveal his past marriage. Shi Ran, feigning a sudden stomach ache, quickly excused herself and left.
Zhao Jin then explained that the woman they saw was his ex-wife, Tian Muchu, and the child was her ex-husband's. He further clarified that Tian Muchu was now a single mother and had come to deliver seafood from his father. Xu Nuo, outwardly composed, pretended to be understanding and rational, stating there seemed "no problem," but admitted to Zhao Jin that she was unsure if she should be angry.
She said she needed time to think and went to work, though she took his hand briefly before leaving. Back at the flower shop, Shi Ran and Xiao Qin watched Xu Nuo with concern, fearing an emotional outburst. Xu Nuo confronted them for not telling her about Zhao Jin's past. Xiao Qin explained she had urged Zhao Jin to tell Xu Nuo earlier and insisted there was "nothing between the two of them."
Shi Ran added that while Zhao Jin's actions might not have been inherently wrong, concealing them was problematic. They both assured Xu Nuo they were her "strong backing," prompting Xu Nuo to jokingly call them "two traitors." Zhao Jin, anxious about Xu Nuo's reaction, called Shi Ran to inquire about her mood. Shi Ran confirmed Xu Nuo was angry.
However, when Zhao Jin then mentioned he had promised to celebrate Tian Muchu's son's birthday, Shi Ran became infuriated, calling him "hopeless" and hanging up, refusing any further assistance. Meanwhile, Xu Nuo's parents visited a potential new laundry shop location. Her mother was impressed by the location's proximity to a community gate, anticipating good business. Her father, however, tried to negotiate a lower rent, citing the significant upfront investment.
The agent explained the rent was justified by the prime location and customer potential. Later, Xu Nuo's parents discussed Peng Yuan's investment. Her mother believed it was an attempt to win Xu Nuo back, but when her father suggested telling Xu Nuo to break up with Zhao Jin, her mother argued that Xu Nuo had her "own thoughts" and couldn't be forced.
Her father insisted on confronting Zhao Jin and telling him to stay away, believing they were acting for Xu Nuo's good. Her mother countered that feelings are complex, and compared her own marriage to him, calling him a "big trouble" but one she still loved.
