Peng Yuan’s father, Guobin, met with Shan Shan’s father at a restaurant, hoping he would help reconcile Peng Yuan and Shan Shan. Shan Shan’s father, however, declined to interfere, stating that his daughter, ever since she was a child, preferred to handle her own affairs and that he believed young people should resolve their issues independently, adding that “caring too much will lead to chaos.”
He also shared a personal story about his own marriage, emphasizing that "a person can only love one person for a lifetime" and that persistence is the most important aspect of a lasting relationship. Guobin, left with no alternative, could only comply with the advice. Later that evening, Xu Nuo and Zhao Jin, both having the same idea, set out to find each other and coincidentally met at a street corner, sharing a knowing smile.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qin and Xiaobai were on a date. Xiaobai, expressing a desire to make a movie about their relationship, invited Xiao Qin to be his heroine. When Xiao Qin inquired about the ending, Xiaobai admitted he hadn't decided yet, suggesting they would film their meeting today. At home, Peng Yuan sat alone in the dark, drinking heavily. His father, upon returning, tried to take the bottle away, but Peng Yuan clung to it.
His father grew angry at Peng Yuan’s dejected state and urged him to remain at the company, reminding him that legally, as a shareholder, he couldn't be easily removed unless he accepted Shan Shan's conditions. Peng Yuan, however, felt it was pointless to rely on her company and fiercely blamed his father for constantly meddling in his life, shouting that if not for his father's interference, he and Xu Nuo would have been married long ago.
He concluded by expressing his confusion about what he truly wanted, as his life had always been orchestrated by his father. Xu Nuo visited her mother at the laundry shop. Her mother, flustered, tried to hide Xu Nuo’s father, who was also there, making clumsy excuses. Xu Nuo sensed someone was being hidden. Her mother then began to criticize Xu Nuo for ending her long-term relationship with Peng Yuan and dating Zhao Jin.
Annoyed, Xu Nuo walked out, but then returned to find both her parents. She calmly revealed that she had known her father was back all along but chose to pretend otherwise, stating, “This is your business. I can understand. I hope that you can understand me too.” Zhao Jin’s colleague, Sister Hong, reiterated her desire to meet Xu Nuo over dinner.
Xu Nuo, still troubled by her parents' situation and fearing her father's past gambling habits might harm her mother again, felt uneasy. When Zhao Jin called to invite her to dinner, Xu Nuo decided to bring Shi Ran along for support. While at the flower shop, Xu Nuo discussed her father’s return with Shi Ran. Shi Ran cautioned Xu Nuo to talk to her mother, expressing skepticism about her father’s change, asserting that “the human heart never changes.”
Xu Nuo revealed her mother regretted divorcing her father, feeling that despite the end of their relationship, a deep feeling, perhaps of habit, lingered. Shi Ran argued that true love makes one’s heart beat faster, contrasting it with the slower rhythm of habit. She then confessed her own heart beat faster because of Xu Yang and joked about him not daring to propose.
That evening, the four of them — Zhao Jin, Xu Nuo, Sister Hong, and Shi Ran — met for dinner. Shi Ran, acting as the self-appointed host, proposed a formal introduction, including family status, relationships, income, assets, and even "weird little hobbies." Sister Hong introduced Zhao Jin, highlighting his good looks and skills but also his habit of lending money he couldn't retrieve and his inability to refuse requests, including from friends like Xu Yang and even pet clients.
Shi Ran then introduced Xu Nuo as appearing gentle but being fiercely powerful and impersonal when angered, recounting a time Xu Nuo made her cry. Xu Nuo then directly asked Zhao Jin if he still liked her despite her tough nature, to which he affirmed, adding that her gentleness towards him was what mattered. The next day, Peng Yuan sought out his former company leader, Mr. Chen, hoping to return to his old job.
Mr. Chen reminded him that he had resigned and his position had been filled after much effort. He told Peng Yuan that if he wanted to come back, he would have to start as an ordinary new employee. Peng Yuan, indignant at the suggestion, left the meeting frustrated and subsequently called Shan Shan. Meanwhile, at the boxing gym, Shi Ran watched Xu Yang teach a female student Jiu-Jitsu, becoming visibly jealous of their physical closeness during practice.
She confronted Xu Yang, accusing the student of having impure intentions and demanding he stop teaching her. Xu Yang defended his teaching methods, explaining the necessity of physical contact in Jiu-Jitsu. Shi Ran, in a fit of pique, offered to buy all his lessons so he would only teach her, but Xu Yang dismissed her, jokingly telling her to visit less often or he wouldn't be able to work. Shi Ran, still fuming, murmured to herself about the woman’s intentions.
Tian Muchu once again arrived at Zhao Jin's pet shop, but Sister Hong intercepted her at the door, preventing her from seeing Zhao Jin. Sister Hong directly told Tian Muchu that Zhao Jin had a girlfriend and that her frequent visits were inconsiderate. Tian Muchu claimed she had no ill intentions and just needed Zhao Jin's help.
After Tian Muchu left, Sister Hong warned Zhao Jin to keep Tian Muchu's return and his visits to her house a secret from Xu Nuo, fearing it would create "knots in her heart" even if nothing was happening. Zhao Jin agreed to this. Shortly after, Tian Muchu texted Zhao Jin, asking him to pick up their child, Shitou, because "something happened." Zhao Jin agreed. Xiaobai took Xiao Qin to the beach.
Xiao Qin revealed she had seen him at the hospital before. Xiaobai then shared that he knew about Xiao Qin's illness, prompting Xiao Qin to reveal she also had a tumor in her head, adding that "it's hard to say" if she was okay. She also mentioned her parents were divorced. Xiaobai reiterated his desire to film a movie to capture all the beautiful things around them, including the sea, the sunset, and their time together.
Zhao Jin picked up Shitou from school, happily playing and jumping with him on the street. Shi Ran, driving by, witnessed them and looked concerned. Back at the flower shop, Shi Ran paced nervously around Xu Nuo, trying to find the right words to tell her what she had seen. She referenced the language of iris flowers ("Once loved") and then, frustrated by her own indecision, blurted out that being friends with Xu Nuo made her irresolute and annoyed.
At her mother’s home, Xu Nuo’s mother discovered a loan repayment text message on her father's phone, confirming her suspicion that he was gambling again. When confronted, he denied it, claiming he was determined to change. Later, Tian Muchu visited Xu Nuo’s father to perform moxibustion for his back pain and also confided in Xu Nuo’s mother about her suspicions of his gambling.
Xu Nuo’s mother confessed that she couldn't abandon him despite his flaws and was determined to help him improve, a lesson she learned from her past divorce. Later, as Zhao Jin was walking Xu Nuo home, Xu Nuo’s mother unexpectedly appeared, catching them together. She immediately expressed her disapproval of Zhao Jin, commenting on his car and his profession as a "pet doctor" and mentioning his sister’s illness. She demanded Xu Nuo break up with him, citing "rumors." Xu Nuo angrily defended her relationship, accusing her mother of not considering her feelings and recalling the hardships caused by Peng Yuan and his father.
