Zhao Jin drove Xu Nuo home late at night. Before she exited the car, Zhao Jin apologized for breaking their promise to be friends and for making excuses to see her, even shifting blame onto her. He admitted it was all his fault, adding that if their friends asked, she should say she didn't do anything and had no other intentions.
Xu Nuo responded that she felt the same way, acknowledging she had also made unnecessary calls and even made up a ridiculous excuse just now to see him, making her feel even more unreasonable. She also apologized. Xu Nuo expressed gratitude for knowing him, calling him a good person. Zhao Jin disagreed, confessing he currently had a "bad idea" and simply wanted to see her without anyone knowing, asking for nothing else.
Xu Nuo understood his feelings but informed him that she was planning to marry her boyfriend, and it was her decision. Zhao Jin then asked if he should just stop, stating that if this continued, she would "lose a lot" and also be miserable, and he would make a fool of himself. Xu Nuo calmly replied that there's nothing wrong with simply liking someone, and no one is a fool because of it.
She then exited the car and walked home, leaving Zhao Jin to watch her retreat. After a long day of work and overtime, Xu Nuo and her best friend Shi Ran headed to Shi Ran's apartment to relax. They ordered takeout and sweet snacks, then started drinking beer. Shi Ran mused that this moment would be even better with a boyfriend, to which Xu Nuo playfully suggested Shi Ran treat her as her boyfriend.
Later, Xu Nuo received a call from her boyfriend, Peng Yuan, who was busy with a meeting for his new fund company. He asked about her plans for the evening, and upon learning she intended to stay at Shi Ran's place, he said he would call her in the morning.
After Xu Nuo unemotionally ended the call, Shi Ran commented that their conversation sounded more like a business exchange than a chat between lovers, noting the absence of typical affectionate goodbyes. Xu Nuo admitted she had stopped using such endearments long ago and felt the romantic intensity in their relationship had dwindled. Shi Ran urged her not to prolong the relationship, suggesting that love often fades over time if marriage is delayed.
Xu Nuo explained that their marriage plans were put on hold because Peng Yuan had just started his own business. Shi Ran then directly asked if Xu Nuo believed Peng Yuan truly wanted to marry her. Xu Nuo hesitated, then opted to drop the topic and encouraged Shi Ran to continue drinking. Sometime later, Xu Nuo was abruptly woken by her alarm, finding the room already bright. She noticed fresh blood on the sofa and quickly alerted Shi Ran.
Upon inspection, they discovered the blood was from Momo, Shi Ran's pet cat, who had bloody stool. Given Shi Ran had a wedding arrangement to attend to and couldn't be late, she entrusted Xu Nuo with taking Momo to Nuan Nuan Pet Hospital. She also reminded Xu Nuo about her own flower arrangement class at nine o'clock. As Xu Nuo arrived at the hospital, Zhao Jin was just opening.
She urgently asked him to open the door, explaining her cat was sick. Zhao Jin, identifying himself as the doctor, asked if she had been there before and then started a new medical record, asking first for the owner's name (to which Xu Nuo replied "Xu Nuo") and then the cat's name, Momo. When asked about Momo's symptoms, Xu Nuo explained the bloody stool had appeared "just now," possibly last night.
Zhao Jin then instructed Xu Nuo to take Momo out of its carrier and place it on the table. In her awkward attempt to do so, Momo scratched Xu Nuo's arm, prompting Zhao Jin to ask if she was okay. Zhao Jin observed that Xu Nuo seemed unfamiliar with the cat. He had an assistant take Momo for blood and fecal tests, suspecting gastroenteritis. Meanwhile, he treated Xu Nuo's scratch wound by flushing it with water.
Xu Nuo, anxious about her upcoming training, asked why he didn't just vaccinate her directly and why the flushing was taking so long, also mentioning she might get rabies. Zhao Jin playfully responded that pet hospitals don't treat people and she should be grateful he was helping her at all.
Xu Nuo, in turn, joked that he had no good intentions and questioned why he, as a vet, didn't hold the cat himself, to which Zhao Jin questioned if it wasn't her cat. Xu Nuo then called Shi Ran to update her on Momo, mentioning the doctor would call with the results.
Before Xu Nuo left the hospital, Zhao Jin instructed her to pay at the front desk and then handed her an ointment, advising her to apply it morning and night. Later, while Xu Nuo was training new employees at her flower shop, she received a WeChat friend request from "Dr. Zhao Jin," which added her to "Momo's Owner Group Chat." He then messaged her asking if he could order flowers for his younger sister.
Shortly after, Zhao Jin called Xu Nuo, apologizing for mistakenly sending her a shipping address, explaining it was meant for a flower customer. Peng Yuan, accompanied by a junior colleague, visited a jiu-jitsu gym where Zhao Jin was a resident guest coach. The colleague introduced Zhao Jin to Peng Yuan, referring to Peng Yuan as his boss and stating that he (the colleague) and Zhao Jin had been good friends for many years.
Peng Yuan readily agreed that they would all become friends. Peng Yuan expressed humility about his own jiu-jitsu skills, and Zhao Jin invited him to warm up for a competition. Outside the gym, Xu Nuo was waiting for Peng Yuan. As Peng Yuan drove Xu Nuo home, she commented on how much busier he seemed as a boss.
He explained that now he faced more "bosses" in his own company, including his partner, Cong Shan, who was a relentless workaholic, making him feel embarrassed to be lazy. Peng Yuan initially suggested that Xu Nuo meet Shi Ran for dinner, but then he quickly remembered urgent work related to Cong Shan. Xu Nuo was visibly displeased, telling him to go and work without worrying about her.
Peng Yuan offered to accompany her to dinner before leaving, but Xu Nuo declined. Peng Yuan then became frustrated, accusing her of getting angry over trivial matters. Xu Nuo denied being angry, but Peng Yuan insisted her face showed it. Peng Yuan then suggested they get married soon to avoid such problems, implying that living together after marriage would solve them. Xu Nuo retorted, "How many years have we been talking about this?

Peng Yuan then noticed the bandage on her arm and asked what happened, to which Xu Nuo explained that Shi Ran’s cat had scratched her. Peng Yuan promised to make it up to her over the weekend by buying her whatever she wanted, after which Xu Nuo exited the car.
Xu Nuo received a call from Shi Ran, who said Momo’s sleeping mat had been sent to her. Xu Nuo confided that her mother had called, upset because her grandmother was angry and threatening to go to a nursing home, leaving Xu Nuo with "many internal and external troubles." Rushing home, Xu Nuo found her mother crying, recounting how her grandmother had locked herself in her room and refused to come out.
Her mother tearfully expressed how difficult it was to care for her, having sacrificed her own happiness by never remarrying. From her room, the grandmother countered that she could go to a nursing home. When Xu Nuo tried to calm the situation, the grandmother emerged, defending her daughter's care for her and emphasizing the challenges of caring for her. The conversation eventually shifted to Xu Nuo, with her mother and grandmother appearing to conspire.
Xu Nuo accused them of rehearsing to pressure her into marrying quickly and having children. Her mother stressed that at thirty, Xu Nuo couldn't afford to wait like Peng Yuan. Xu Nuo asserted they had their own plans. Her mother warned her not to be "picky and captious," questioning if she could find someone better if she broke up with Peng Yuan.
Xu Nuo retorted that the person who truly needed to get married was her mother, a sentiment her grandmother surprisingly agreed with. Separately, during breakfast, Peng Yuan's father inquired about his work with Cong Shan. Peng Yuan praised Cong Shan as an excellent workaholic, noting how quickly he was progressing with her.
His father, a lawyer who had been Cong Shan's father's legal consultant for years, explained that Cong Shan was a wealthy "second-generation" whose father had established the fund company specifically for her. He then urged Peng Yuan, who was "not young anymore," to consider marrying someone who could combine marriage with work.
When Peng Yuan mentioned Xu Nuo was a good woman, his father dismissed it, stating it was hard to find someone suitable for marriage and telling Peng Yuan to "know what he wants." He then announced he would arrange a meeting with Cong Shan's family. As snow began to fall, Xu Nuo, feeling overwhelmed, headed to Shi Ran's apartment. Shi Ran, who had just dropped off Momo's sleeping mat at Zhao Jin's vet hospital, ran into Zhao Jin there.
Zhao Jin gave her Momo's test results and offered her dinner, but Shi Ran declined, saying she didn't like eating with strangers. While going downstairs from Shi Ran's apartment later to collect takeout, Xu Nuo unexpectedly encountered Zhao Jin, who was also picking up takeout. He was residing in the apartment directly above Shi Ran's. Xu Nuo, still wary, accused him of following her and threatened to call the police if he didn't leave.
After getting her takeout, Xu Nuo asked Shi Ran if she knew who lived upstairs, describing the man she saw as "quite handsome." Shi Ran playfully suggested that Xu Nuo's curiosity might indicate attraction, warning that it would be considered cheating on Peng Yuan. Later that evening, after dinner, Shi Ran walked Xu Nuo to a waiting taxi as the snow grew heavy.
As Xu Nuo drove away, Zhao Jin observed from his window and sent her a WeChat message, commenting on the heavy snowfall and wishing her a safe journey. Xu Nuo thanked him. He then sent another message, suggesting that the next time it snowed, they should meet outside, just the two of them, not at the pet hospital. Xu Nuo replied, "Us?" and Zhao Jin immediately texted back, "Let's meet now."
