Early in the morning, Xiaowei sang while washing clothes, catching Di Renjie's attention. He gave her some money and asked her to sing another song. Di Renjie guessed that Xiaowei wanted to earn money to find her mother. Xiaowei said her mother taught her to sing and had promised to take her to the capital to become the most famous courtesan, but unfortunately, before that promise could be fulfilled, her mother disappeared half a month ago.

At this moment, Wei Sheng's scolding voice was heard. Di Renjie had a suspicion, so he told Xiaowei to take a note to Commander Xiao for help. After Xiaowei left, Di Renjie revealed his identity and questioned Wei Sheng about what goods he had delivered last night. Wei Sheng was evasive, further confirming Di Renjie's suspicion that he had something to hide and was trying to conceal the truth.

Di Renjie listed the evidence and exposed that Wei Sheng had dragged two bodies last night, one of which was Xiaowei's mother. Wei Sheng's expression did not change upon hearing this; instead, he mocked Di Renjie, saying his investigation was based entirely on speculation. As soon as he finished speaking, Commander Xiao rushed in with his men and surrounded the inn. Di Renjie immediately held court to interrogate Wei Sheng, who only then began to panic.

Wei Sheng insisted he had not committed murder. Di Renjie ordered a box of clothes to be brought in and accused him of murder and robbery, transferring the goods to Lang Liu's warehouse, and then dismembering and discarding the bodies. He just hadn't expected Di Renjie to suddenly come to Qingchuan to investigate the case.

Seeing the ironclad evidence, Wei Sheng had to admit his guilt, but then blamed it all on his wife, cursing that the woman's indecent behavior was why she ended up like this. By the end, he had become delirious and was finally taken away to await judgment. Lang Liu watched this whole scene unfold and took the initiative to greet Di Renjie.

After dismissing everyone, he stated frankly that he had come to Qingchuan on orders to help Di Renjie obtain the Black Flame roster from Lanfang.

Di Renjie suddenly understood, finally realizing that Black Flame leading him here was for two things: one was to investigate the case of the messenger's disappearance, who was the man secretly meeting with Xiaowei's mother; the second was the leader instructing Lang Liu to retrieve the roster to help Black Flame achieve its goals in Qingchuan. However, Di Renjie had never seen the so-called roster, which Lang Liu clearly did not believe.

He said that while the leader had not ordered Di Renjie's death, it didn't mean Di Renjie would be safe unless he could hand over what Lang Liu needed. Di Renjie felt wary. Sure enough, Lang Liu's attendant engaged him in a fight first, but was defeated in just two rounds. Seeing this, Lang Liu sent out Eleventh Mistress. Her martial arts were profound, causing Di Renjie to suffer repeated setbacks.

Fortunately, Di Renjie was someone who grew stronger against stronger opponents. He quickly changed his moves to counter Eleventh Mistress. From being at a disadvantage at the beginning, their fight became evenly matched, forcing Eleventh Mistress to take him seriously. Ultimately, Di Renjie turned the tables, directly controlling Eleventh Mistress's vital point. However, he did not strike.

Eleventh Mistress saw his compassionate and righteous heart, believing he would be a good official, and thus chose not to continue the entanglement and turned to leave. Precisely because of this, Lang Liu became enraged and wanted to ignite the bitumen box to die with Di Renjie. At the critical moment, Mr. Hulu reappeared and stopped him with a cane. Lang Liu was unwilling as he died, mocking that Di Renjie's insistence on "Ren" (benevolence) was "stupid" in his eyes.

After saying this, he lost his breath, which shocked Di Renjie. Mr. Hulu was also somewhat surprised, stating frankly that he could not stop someone who wanted to die. Cao An delivered food to Hong Liang, Ma Rong, and others as usual. Ma Rong's view of Cao An had completely changed. Di Renjie suspected Mr.

Hulu's identity and deliberately revealed that he had obtained the Black Flame list and would naturally submit it to the court, punishing the people on the roster according to the law. Mr. Hulu used an analogy from history to the present, telling Di Renjie not to view things in black and white; the reason for Black Flame's existence was the fundamental issue, and the real crime lay in breaking the law, not in being Black Flame.

He also reminded him whether he wanted to see Lanfang suffer widespread devastation and rivers of blood. Meanwhile, Cao An, under the pretense of going out to shop, met someone secretly. Later, she discovered a black eagle feather, her expression became flustered, and she walked back hurriedly.
