A Ze suddenly chased after Ling Er but was stopped by Yang Caiwei. She originally wanted them to stage a scene to lure out the killer, but A Ze and Ling Er couldn’t pull off the act. Yang Caiwei grew anxious and made everyone laugh. Her eyes lit up as she decided to recruit the ruthless Constable Liu for the role. After offering him several silver pieces, he finally agreed. Bai Xiaosheng and Zhuo Lanjiang, under pursuit, hid temporarily.

They soon discovered their attackers were from the Jinshui Gang and found a note on them. After reading it, Zhuo Lanjiang concluded there was a traitor within Yinyulou. The Yinyulou members begged Zhuo Lanjiang to stay hidden there temporarily. Their previous leader had been betrayed three years ago. Zhuo Lanjiang agreed. Bai Xiaosheng had intended to flee but was blocked. Only Zhuo Lanjiang truly trusted her and was willing to let her go.

Pan Yue became restless at the thought of Yang Caiwei and avoided meeting her. Yang Caiwei noticed his strange behavior and assumed he was preparing for the parade. Zhuo Lanjiang sent a message saying he was busy with official duties and asked Yang Caiwei and Pan Yue to handle the festival. Bai Xiaosheng, fearing Yinyulou’s pursuit, decided staying with Zhuo Lanjiang was safest. She asked about the massacre of the Jinshui Gang, wondering if Zhuo Lanjiang really killed so many.

His eyes filled with anger as he recalled that night, when he slaughtered the gang to avenge his father, yet it left him with lasting sorrow. The Jinshui Gang had emerged two months ago—the same time Yang Caiwei had her incident. On the festival day, Pan Yue paraded through the streets. Zhuo Lanjiang, realizing it had started, took Bai Xiaosheng to shake off Yinyulou's men. But soon they saw many Jinshui Gang members.

Unexpectedly, it was all part of Zhuo Lanjiang's plan. Fighting broke out. Bai Xiaosheng hid in a corner to watch but was taken hostage by an assassin. Zhuo Lanjiang pretended not to care, then turned around and caught the attacker. Sun Zhen arrived hurriedly—this man was the traitor in Yinyulou. After swiftly handling the situation, Zhuo Lanjiang rushed to help Yang Caiwei. As the ceremony began, Constable Liu suddenly had stomach troubles.

Pan Yue threw tokens from the bridge, while Gu Yong watched silently from the opposite side. Someone who caught a token came to light a lantern with Pan Yue, but Yang Caiwei suddenly appeared with a sword. Realizing Constable Liu was unreliable, she had taken matters into her own hands, acting like a fierce villainess and causing a scene before leaving. When she reached a deserted spot, someone attacked—Gu Shan. Zhuo Lanjiang arrived just in time to protect her.

Yang Caiwei was shaken and still thinking about apologizing to the girl from earlier. With the killer caught, the tension eased. Everyone went to enjoy the lanterns, but seeing Yang Caiwei and Zhuo Lanjiang close together, Pan Yue left first. Zhuo Lanjiang said he was going to confess his love tonight, and Yang Caiwei, surprised, scolded him for not telling her about his beloved.
