Hua Buqi made the gambling stake an astounding one million taels for a single high-stakes bet. Following Hua Buqi's instructions, Zhu Shou expertly utilized a dice with existing cracks, successfully winning against Madam Yu. This victory effectively nullified the one-million-tael contract he owed. As Hua Buqi and Chen Yu prepared to leave the gambling house, Dongfang Shi appeared. He playfully questioned their haste, implying that Hua Buqi was rushing to Chen Yu's manor.

Chen Yu confirmed that Hua Buqi was indeed visiting his Commandery Prince Manor. Dongfang Shi acknowledged their departure but stated his intention to visit Chen Yu's manor himself in a few days. Meanwhile, Liu Qingwu, having learned of Chen Yu and Hua Buqi's return, plotted to eliminate Hua Buqi while Chen Yu was still recovering from his injuries. However, her plans were interrupted when Hei Feng, leading a group of assailants, attacked Mingyue Villa.

Liu Qingwu and her maid Ping'er narrowly escaped the massacre, fleeing to seek refuge in Chen Yu's Commandery Prince Manor. Upon arriving at the Commandery Prince Manor, Hua Buqi was surprised by its grandeur. Liu Qingwu soon appeared, distraught, explaining that Xiao Jiufeng had destroyed Mingyue Villa, leaving her with nowhere else to go, and pleaded for Chen Yu's protection.

Chen Yu, soft-hearted and feeling obligated because she had assisted him against Liu Mingyue in the past, agreed to let her and Ping'er stay temporarily. Hua Buqi, visibly annoyed and jealous, accused Liu Qingwu of feigning weakness, pointing out that Mingyue Villa, an established organization, should have other safe havens. Ping'er defended Liu Qingwu, stating that their superior knew all their hiding places and Liu Qingwu was gravely injured.

Chen Yu later promised Hua Buqi that he would make Liu Qingwu leave once Xiao Jiufeng was found and eliminated. Hua Buqi reluctantly agreed to her staying, but on strict conditions: Chen Yu was not to see, speak to, or have any physical contact with Liu Qingwu. Later, Xiao Liu reported that Ping'er had purchased ten jugs of strong wine.

Concerned, Chen Yu decided to check on Liu Qingwu, instructing Xiao Liu to watch Hua Buqi in the kitchen and alert him if she left within fifteen minutes. Chen Yu found Liu Qingwu drinking heavily. He offered her a sobering pill and tried to comfort her, explaining that he only saw her as a friend, not romantically. Liu Qingwu, however, insisted he had feelings for her due to his past concern.

While carrying hot soup she had prepared for Chen Yu, Hua Buqi noticed Xiao Liu's nervous demeanor and realized Chen Yu was in Liu Qingwu's room. Angered, she gave the soup to Xiao Liu, removed her apron, and stormed out with Zhu Shou to "beg on the street." On the street, Hua Buqi and Zhu Shou pretended to be beggars, much to Zhu Shou's embarrassment.

Dongfang Shi soon found Hua Buqi, teasing her about their debt and saying he would claim her regardless of whether she paid. Hua Buqi expressed her complete disinterest in him, stating she wouldn't like him even if he had met her before the Lotus Robe Knight. Dongfang Shi, frustrated by her rejection, threatened to kill the Lotus Robe Knight. Chen Yu then arrived, apologizing and asking Hua Buqi to return to the manor. Hua Buqi remained obstinate.

Observing their argument, Dongfang Shi was delighted, concluding they had fallen out. Chen Yu then cleverly feigned a worsening injury, clutching his stomach as if his wounds had reopened. Hua Buqi, immediately concerned, rushed to help him into his carriage. Dongfang Shi, witnessing this scene, realized that Liu Qingwu must be hiding in the Commandery Prince Manor, causing Hua Buqi's jealousy and subsequent departure.

Inside the carriage, Chen Yu pleaded with Hua Buqi not to run away again, expressing fear that Dongfang Shi might abduct her. Hua Buqi retorted by reminding him of his broken promise to avoid Liu Qingwu, recounting her disappointment upon discovering him in Liu Qingwu's room. Chen Yu swore he had clarified his feelings to Liu Qingwu and would not see her again.

Back at the manor, Ping'er frantically announced that Liu Qingwu had attempted suicide by hanging and begged Chen Yu to visit her. Hua Buqi, suspecting Liu Qingwu's manipulation, declared she would go herself. Chen Yu, worried Hua Buqi might be too harsh, had Han Ye accompany her. He also instructed Han Ye to tell Liu Qingwu that he would help rebuild Mingyue Villa after current matters were resolved, but would offer no further aid if she attempted suicide again.

Chen Yu then retired to his room, while Xiao Liu was sent to bring him some rest. Hua Buqi confronted Liu Qingwu, mocking her failed suicide attempt and suggesting she find a more discreet location next time. Han Ye cautioned Hua Buqi to temper her words, but Hua Buqi was unyielding, throwing a dagger at Liu Qingwu and challenging her to successfully end her life. Enraged, Liu Qingwu hurled the dagger back, but Han Ye intercepted it, protecting Hua Buqi.

Later, Hua Buqi brought the meal she had prepared to Chen Yu's room. Chen Yu praised her cooking, calling her a "god-sent chef." After their meal, Chen Yu announced he needed to leave the manor for a few days, expressing concern for his teacher, Ah Fu. He instructed Hua Buqi, Han Ye, and Xiao Liu to guard his door and inform any visitors that he was ill with a "flu" and unable to receive guests.

Hua Buqi worried about his unhealed wounds and his safety, urging him to consider her before making dangerous decisions, declaring she would follow him in death if anything were to happen to him. Chen Yu reassured her that he would be safe. News of Chen Yu's "illness" reached Liu Qingwu, who tried to see him but was blocked by Hua Buqi. Soon after, Dongfang Shi infiltrated the Commandery Prince Manor, also seeking to see Chen Yu.

Xiao Liu informed Dongfang Shi that Chen Yu's wounds had flared up and he was resting, unable to receive guests, on Hua Buqi's direct orders. Dongfang Shi then spotted Liu Qingwu and feigned surprise. Hua Buqi, to maintain their facade, quickly dismissed both Dongfang Shi and Liu Qingwu. Back at his inn, Dongfang Shi confirmed Liu Qingwu's presence in the manor. He ordered Hei Feng to keep watch and kill Liu Qingwu when the opportunity arose. Dongfang Shi also grew suspicious that Chen Yu was not actually in the manor, noting the lack of response after he had made a significant commotion outside Chen Yu's room.
