I Will Never Let You Go Episode 35 Recap
> I Will Never Let You Go Recap
Hua Buqi and Dongfang Shi found themselves with dwindling water supplies in the desert and began following a snake, hoping it would lead them to more resources. Dongfang Shi suggested that although they couldn't be born on the same day, they might die together, a notion Hua Buqi found utterly unappealing, especially the idea of being found as "lovers who faced the same fate."
Following the snake's path, they discovered an oasis with water and an abundance of fruits, enough to sustain them out of the desert. After gathering the fruits, Dongfang Shi went to scout their route, while Hua Buqi rested. Unbeknownst to them, a sand bandit had been observing their movements and secretly drugged their water.
Dongfang Shi later returned, and Hua Buqi teased him about his habit of snoring, grinding teeth, and farting while asleep, to which he retorted that she was the one who would suffer from it. Dongfang Shi then observed Hua Buqi as she slept, privately musing on his desire to be eternally trapped with her in the desert, confident she would eventually return his affection given his many admirable qualities.
Hua Buqi later awoke to find Dongfang Shi had been awake, and, upon his explanation that he was protecting her from the desert's dangers like sandstorms, she felt a flicker of gratitude. She then offered him water, which he initially refused, finding its muddy taste unappetizing compared to Suzhou's spring water. Their playful argument over the water ensued, and he grudgingly took a small sip.
Hua Buqi blamed him for her earlier misfortunes, including being separated from Zhu Shou, to which Dongfang Shi explained that Jin Xianyu of the Longhu Hotel was in league with the treacherous inn where she got lost. He asserted that if he hadn't followed her, she would have been stranded in the desert alone, making her plight even worse.
He then prompted her to feed him fruit, which she mischievously stuffed into his mouth, making him choke and reach for the water. While Hua Buqi and Dongfang Shi were bickering, Chen Yu suddenly appeared on horseback, surprising Hua Buqi. Dongfang Shi immediately grew suspicious, pulling Hua Buqi back and warning her that a lone person in the desert was likely a bandit. Chen Yu, however, explained his presence was to exterminate the numerous bandits plaguing the area.
Hua Buqi, delighted to see him, quickly defended him, noting his refined appearance and suggesting he was a knight, much like her favorite, the Lotus Robe Knight. Dongfang Shi, consumed by jealousy, lamented not having posed as a chivalrous knight himself. Hua Buqi then, pretending not to know Chen Yu, asked him to take her to Xichu Province, claiming she had been separated from her family by bandits and subsequently got lost with "this hooligan," referring to Dongfang Shi.
Dongfang Shi retorted angrily, both at being called a hooligan and at Hua Buqi's apparent gullibility, dismissing Chen Yu's story as a lie given the vast number of bandits. Hua Buqi further inflamed Dongfang Shi's jealousy by declaring Chen Yu more elegant and handsome. Noticing their disheveled state, Chen Yu deduced they had been lost for days and offered them his own provisions of water and dry food, volunteering to guide them out of the desert.
Dongfang Shi, ever suspicious, doubted Chen Yu's altruism and insisted he sample the provisions first. Hua Buqi, however, quickly took a drink, praising its clear and sweet taste, and further irked Dongfang Shi by accepting Chen Yu's generosity without hesitation. Dongfang Shi, reluctantly accepting Chen Yu's offer, reciprocated by offering him fruits, provocatively stating they were picked by him and his "wife," Hua Buqi.
Hua Buqi immediately denied being his wife, reiterating their agreement was merely a debt to be repaid. Chen Yu, witnessing their bickering, suggested they begin their journey out of the desert that night. Hua Buqi readily agreed, eager to leave with Chen Yu. Dongfang Shi, after a brief confrontation with Chen Yu that tested their martial skills, realized Hua Buqi's determination to go with Chen Yu and begrudgingly agreed to join them.
Dongfang Shi introduced himself, Chen Yu used his alias "Ru Qing," and Hua Buqi introduced herself as "Zhu Zhu." As they rested for the night, Hua Buqi sought conversation with Chen Yu. Dongfang Shi, however, was overcome with jealousy and aggressively sat between them, declaring Hua Buqi his fiancée to prevent her from "flirting." He even threatened Chen Yu with snake-attracting powder if provoked.
Chen Yu calmly countered that true commitment required mutual affection, a sentiment Hua Buqi openly agreed with, confirming Dongfang Shi's love was one-sided. Dongfang Shi dismissed this, claiming Hua Buqi was only being nice to Chen Yu to anger him. Hua Buqi then moved closer to Chen Yu, lamenting her lack of meat for days.
Chen Yu, in response, subtly hinted at their shared past by recounting a story about his "wife" eating mice when hungry and how he once stole chicken legs for her, a clear emotional appeal to Hua Buqi. Misunderstanding the context, Dongfang Shi angrily pulled Hua Buqi away, accusing Chen Yu of being a married "pervert" trying to trick innocent girls. He then passionately vowed to treat Hua Buqi right and protect her if she chose him.
Hua Buqi, however, responded with a cold laugh, reminding him of the suffering his family had inflicted, specifically mentioning his past threats involving Yun Lang. While acknowledging his recent care and the risk he took to detoxify her, she firmly stated her heart belonged to another and that the Dongfang family's debt of a life made their union impossible, urging him to return home.
Dongfang Shi, refusing to leave her side, insisted he would only depart once she was safely in Xichu Province. As they rested for the night, Chen Yu subtly informed Hua Buqi that he had acquired strong sedatives from bandits and suggested they find a chance to drug Dongfang Shi.
After Dongfang Shi had seemingly gone to sleep, Chen Yu then subtly instructed Hua Buqi to swap his blanket with Dongfang Shi's, as he had detected snake-attracting powder on Dongfang Shi's blanket. Later, Dongfang Shi woke up amidst a swarm of snakes and was forced to kill them. Realizing Chen Yu's ruse, Dongfang Shi confronted him.
Chen Yu, however, feigned innocence, claiming he had kindly provided Dongfang Shi with a thicker blanket and accused Dongfang Shi of sinister intentions for putting powder on his own blanket. Hua Buqi sided with Chen Yu, further irritating Dongfang Shi. When Dongfang Shi refused to lend Chen Yu his blanket, Hua Buqi offered to share hers, leading to an even more jealous Dongfang Shi. Recalling Hua Buqi's earlier desire for meat, Dongfang Shi roasted a snake to tempt her.
Hua Buqi, however, deliberately critiqued his cooking as burnt and unappetizing, then, in complicity with Chen Yu, feigned disgust and refused to eat it, claiming she was saving her appetite for a restaurant Chen Yu had mentioned in Dongping Commandery. The following day, they discovered a refreshing oasis. Hua Buqi, tired of the desert grime, requested that Chen Yu and Dongfang Shi turn their backs while she bathed, promising she would not be long.
Both men initially objected, citing safety concerns and propriety, but Hua Buqi insisted, arguing her body itched. After much debate and a near physical confrontation between the two men over who would guard her, Hua Buqi, exasperated, ordered them both to cover their eyes and stand guard, threatening severe consequences if they peeked. While they complied, Hua Buqi seized the opportunity to add the sedative Chen Yu had acquired to Dongfang Shi's water supply.
Soon after, Liu Qingwu arrived, intentionally falling from her horse and feigning injury to gain Chen Yu's attention. Chen Yu, revealing his true name "Zhangqing" to Liu Qingwu, rushed to her side, expressing deep concern for her unhealed wound and questioning why she had ventured into the desert. Liu Qingwu, ignoring his discomfort, spoke of her desire to help him and how she couldn't stop thinking about him.
Witnessing Chen Yu's attentiveness to Liu Qingwu, and realizing his true identity, Hua Buqi, consumed by jealousy, impulsively embraced Dongfang Shi and declared him her "future husband" to Liu Qingwu's face. Liu Qingwu seemed to recognize Hua Buqi, calling her by her real name, but Chen Yu quickly interjected, presenting Hua Buqi as "Miss Zhu," a lost girl he was helping. Chen Yu then requested Hua Buqi to assist Liu Qingwu to the river to clean her wound, which Hua Buqi promptly did, abandoning Dongfang Shi to help her rival.
