Madam Mo commanded her managers to pawn all the Mo Manor's farmlands and housing properties to raise funds for the upcoming bidding for the Imperial Treasury. Her manager reported that this would yield 2. 3 million taels, but Madam Mo insisted they aim for 8. 3 million taels. Mo Ruofei, who was not yet genuinely poisoned, then instructed his own managers to do their best during the bidding, acknowledging that his mother had no prior business experience.

Soon after, Mo Bo rushed to Yun Lang, Hua Buqi, and Miss Lin, informing them that Mo Ruofei had been poisoned and urging Lin Yiquan to return to Mo Manor immediately to save him. Hua Buqi, distressed, asked about Mo Ruofei's condition and who poisoned him. Mo Ruofei claimed Mingyue Villa sent Qing'er to poison him.

Recognizing Qing'er's resemblance to Liu Qingwu, Hua Buqi deduced she was from Mingyue Villa and quickly dispatched Yun Lang to find the Seventh Prince, believing only he could compel Mingyue Villa to provide an antidote. At Mo Manor, Lin Yiquan began to "treat" Mo Ruofei. Mo Ruofei dismissed everyone from his room, including Madam Mo and Hua Buqi, insisting he only needed Brother Lin to treat him alone.

Outside, Lin Yiquan reported to Madam Mo that he had done his best but Mo Ruofei's poison had no antidote and he would only last three days. Madam Mo refused to believe this, immediately ordering all doctors in the city to be found. She also asked Hua Buqi to accompany her to the Buddhist hall to pray for Mo Ruofei. The Seventh Prince confronted Liu Mingyue, angrily accusing her of sending people to kill Mo Ruofei.

Liu Mingyue denied any involvement, stating she had been extremely careful and wouldn't dare provoke Mo Manor. The Prince, however, called her a "rash fool" and declared that because of her actions, she would lose the rights to the Imperial Treasury.

He explained that if Mo Ruofei were alive, he could have subtly manipulated the bids in Mingyue Villa's favor, but with Mo Ruofei supposedly dying, Madam Mo had become fearless and had already mortgaged all her estates to raise Mo Manor's bid to eight million taels. Liu Mingyue was surprised by this but quickly promised to raise her own bid to over eight million taels.

The Seventh Prince then agreed to help her if she could achieve this, promising Chen Yu would announce a bid two million taels higher than Mo Manor's. After Liu Mingyue left, the Seventh Prince instructed Ah Fu to closely monitor her and ascertain the source of her funds, hoping to uncover the mysterious person behind Mingyue Villa.

Liu Mingyue subsequently visited Zhu Manor to secure additional funds, but the butler only agreed to an extra 500,000 taels, leaving Mingyue Villa to cover the remaining amount. In the Buddhist hall, Madam Mo instructed Mo Bo to add a full dose of poison to Hua Buqi's white fungus broth, intending for Hua Buqi to be buried with Mo Ruofei.

Mo Bo expressed concern about the Seventh Prince's investigation, but Madam Mo dismissed him, reasoning that the Prince would simply assume Hua Buqi was poisoned alongside Mo Ruofei. Hua Buqi noticed Madam Mo's unnaturally peaceful expression and grew suspicious, fearing her Godmother intended to poison her. She tried to refuse the broth, claiming she had no appetite and wished to find something with a stronger taste in the kitchen.

However, Madam Mo insisted she drink it, revealing her true malicious intent. When Hua Buqi cried for help, Madam Mo revealed she had sent away all the maids. Madam Mo then confessed her deep resentment towards Mo Baixing for his affection for Xue Fei, whom she had allowed to live in the adjacent courtyard only for Mo Baixing to inform her Xue Fei was pregnant with his child and he wished to take her as a second wife.

Enraged, Madam Mo had Xue Manor burned down, killing everyone there. She then revealed that Hua Buqi was not the Seventh Prince's daughter, but Mo Baixing's illegitimate child, making Mo Ruofei her biological brother. Hua Buqi was stunned, realizing she and Chen Yu were not biological siblings, but she and Mo Ruofei were. Before Hua Buqi could fully process this, Madam Mo ordered Mo Bo to hold her down and force-fed her the poisoned white fungus broth.

That night, Mo Ruofei, who was not genuinely poisoned, woke up. He discussed the upcoming bidding for the government funds circulation rights with Lin Yiquan, who was aware of Mo Ruofei's deception. Mo Ruofei confessed he had faked his illness by manipulating his vital channels and spitting blood to deceive all the doctors in the capital.

He explained this ruse was necessary for the bidding, as he needed his mother to represent him, and if she knew he was well, others might detect his plan. He then secretly ordered Jiansheng to keep a close watch on Lin Yiquan and kill him if he showed any signs of disloyalty. As Mo Ruofei left his room, he noticed Mo Bo leaving Hua Buqi's room, which roused his suspicion. He hurried to Hua Buqi's room.

Mo Ruofei found Hua Buqi unconscious and poisoned. He quickly carried her to Lin Yiquan, demanding he save her. Lin Yiquan regretfully informed him that the poison was too strong, and even an antidote would be too late. He could only use silver needles to protect her heart for a few more hours before her last breath would disappear. Mo Ruofei was devastated, realizing Hua Buqi had been poisoned because of the schemes targeting him.

He took Hua Buqi back to her room, instructing Lin Yiquan to pretend he had never treated her. Overcome with guilt, Mo Ruofei apologized to Hua Buqi by her bedside, acknowledging his mother was responsible but feeling unable to expose her to the Seventh Prince due to the upcoming bidding and his familial duty. Hua Buqi, hearing his voice, briefly regained consciousness and was comforted to know Mo Ruofei was fine. The Seventh Prince summoned Chen Yu.

Chen Yu had already deduced that Mo Ruofei's poisoning was part of his father's scheme, intended to use Mo Manor to counter Liu Mingyue. He questioned his father's motives, linking them to the legendary Biluotian treasure, which grants its owner control of the world. Chen Yu surmised his father wanted him to find the treasure and contend for the imperial throne.

The Seventh Prince confirmed that Liu Mingyue had offered Biluotian as a condition for forgiveness and to ensure Zhu Manor received the government funds circulation rights. Despite Chen Yu's disinterest in the throne, his father insisted that he must still hand the circulation rights to Zhu Manor the next day, reminding him that Liu Mingyue had previously saved him.

Meanwhile, Yun Lang tried to visit Hua Buqi at Mo Manor but was turned away, told that Mo Ruofei was being treated and couldn't be disturbed. He had earlier asked the Seventh Prince for help regarding Mo Ruofei's poisoning, but the Prince dismissed his concerns, saying an antidote would be given after the bidding and cautioning him not to reveal anything. Later, Yun Lang found Hua Buqi lying in her room, collapsed. Panicked, he desperately called for help.

Hua Buqi, in her weakened state, confessed to Yun Lang that she was incurable and, though acknowledging his feelings, expressed that her heart belonged to the Lotus Robe Knight, who had saved her numerous times. She wished to marry him in a red wedding dress. Yun Lang, heartbroken, vowed to find the Lotus Robe Knight for her, as long as she lived. Just then, Xiao Xia arrived and offered to save Hua Buqi.

She administered a pill to Hua Buqi, who immediately stopped breathing. Yun Lang, distraught, accused Xiao Xia of killing her. Xiao Xia quickly explained that it was a "Death Faking Pill" designed to halt the poison's spread and make Hua Buqi appear dead, thus allowing her to escape danger in the capital. She further clarified that Hua Buqi's identity was sensitive, and if her survival was known, she would face a more miserable life in the capital. Xiao Xia instructed Yun Lang to bury Hua Buqi as soon as possible, promising to revive her within seven days, emphasizing that any delay would make a cure impossible.
