Tang Wuxin used the Twelve Fatal Blades against Zhenyutongzi to protect Cao Yanbing, but was still defeated. Cao Yanbing seized the opportunity to snatch his weapon back from Zhenyutongzi but was still defeated. Zhenyutongzi thought Cao Yanbing was dead for sure, but suddenly demonic energy appeared. Zhenyutongzi discovered that the demonic energy seal suppressed by his master's ancestor was broken. The demonic energy transformed into a demonic form and possessed Cao Yanbing, easily finishing off Zhenyutongzi.

Zhenyutongzi's beads also broke, and two black beads returned to Cao Yanbing's body. Then the demonic energy dissipated, and he fainted on the ground. Tang Wuxin dragged Cao Yanbing out of Qianji Heisha and then encountered patrols from the Hall of Heroes. To protect Cao Yanbing, Tang Wuxin took the Huitian that he and Tang Xiaoxiao had found before. Taking this Huitian instantly stimulates the body's energy, but the cost is depleting all life.

Tang Xiaoxiao once said that she would only use it in a desperate situation, for example, when Cao Yanbing was in mortal danger and she was helpless, she would drink the poison without hesitation. Cao Yanbing woke up and found that he had been rescued by Tang Wuxin and returned to the human realm. Tang Wuxin told Cao Yanbing that he must rescue Tang Xiaoxiao and that his mother was in Luhua Gulou. Then Tang Wuxin dissipated in form.

Cao Yanbing remembered his mother telling him that a Guardian Spirit would always protect its master and was a more reliable existence than family. Tang Xiaoxiao told Cao Yanbing that she couldn't be by his side forever, and even if she wasn't there one day, she hoped Tang Wuxin could be by his side to protect him.

Li Gucheng was injured and healing when his subordinates informed him that all the escaped prisoners from Qianji Heisha had been captured except for the four former Hall of Heroes experts from Cell Number Zero. Li Gucheng was angry that such a major incident happened under his watch. He ordered everyone to be mobilized to first capture those four experts and reissued a wanted order for Cao Yanbing.

Xia Ling learned from that notebook that her father was not only a person with a Guardian Spirit but also the Spiritual Guardian of Hanxian Jie. Before Cao Yanbing fainted, he sent Xia Ling a Yanming Letter. Xia Ling hurried over and rescued the fainted Cao Yanbing. Li Xuanyuan noticed that the Guardian Spirit in his body was being eroded by demonic nature, and asked him if he had recently come into contact with any demonic creatures.

Cao Yanbing only remembered fighting Zhenyutongzi and then being rescued by Tang Wuxin. He told Xia Ling that he needed to go to Luhua Gulou. Xia Ling remembered seeing a record of Luhua Gulou in her father's work diary and showed it to Cao Yanbing. After reading the diary, Cao Yanbing learned that Xia Ling's father was also a Spiritual Guardian. Both Cao Yanbing's mother and Xia Ling's father were Spiritual Guardians and both were related to Luhua Gulou.

Cao Yanbing told Xia Ling that if her father was a Spiritual Guardian, he must have a General's Chest. The General's Chest must contain key information about Luhua Gulou, but opening the chest requires the General's Chain, and the General's Chain has been stolen. The General's Chain is a symbol of identity, one chain for each street, so the person who stole the General's Chain must be related to Hanxian Jie.

Cao Yanbing prepared to take the General's Chest to Hanxian Jie to look for the missing General's Chain. Xia Ling said she wanted to go with him. Cao Yanbing said that this matter might be life-threatening and he didn't want Xia Ling to take risks. Xia Ling said that ever since she knew she was a person with a Guardian Spirit, she felt a mission and responsibility, and also wanted to uncover her father's secrets.

She hoped to fight alongside Cao Yanbing and go together. Finally, Cao Yanbing agreed. Xia Ling's father's workplace was in a bar. Generally, for Spiritual Guardians who work in the human realm, the barrier to the Spiritual Crossroads is usually near their workplace. The two decided to go look for the barrier to enter Hanxian Jie nearby tomorrow during the daytime.
