Upon Leng Rufeng's arrival at Shallow Cosmos, Zhan Nanxian introduced his two partners, Gao Fang and Guan Ti, before their pleasant discussion. During the afternoon tea, Chi Bika praised Du Xintong for the excellent service, noting Leng Rufeng's apparent satisfaction, especially with the desserts. Du Xintong proudly shared details about a special cake, highlighting its peanut butter filling. However, a sudden realization sparked panic among the staff: Leng Rufeng was severely allergic to peanuts and risked anaphylactic shock.
Ding Xiaodai confirmed that Leng Rufeng had already consumed a significant portion of the cake. Just as panic reached its peak, Ding Xiaodai revealed that Wen Nuan had anticipated the issue and, as a precautionary measure, instructed the cooks to replace all peanut-containing items with peanut-free alternatives. This quick thinking averted a crisis, earning a collective sigh of relief and praise for Wen Nuan. Leng Rufeng subsequently departed Shallow Cosmos, expressing his satisfaction and a deeper understanding of the firm.
Following the incident, Chi Bika severely reprimanded Du Xintong for her negligence in handling client preferences, particularly regarding allergies. Ding Xiaodai interjected, asserting that Wen Nuan had explicitly provided Du Xintong with a printed list of Leng Rufeng's dietary restrictions. Du Xintong, however, vehemently denied ever receiving such documents, trying to evade responsibility. Zhan Nanxian, after a brief silence, instructed Chi Bika to thoroughly investigate the matter, ensuring accountability for any misconduct.
Later, Du Xintong, filled with resentment over her impending training with new recruits, confronted Wen Nuan and Ding Xiaodai. When Wen Nuan accidentally stumbled and was caught by Zhan Nanxian, uttering "Nanxian" in surprise, Du Xintong, in a fit of jealousy, deliberately pushed Wen Nuan, causing her to hit the elevator wall. Wen Nuan, seeing Ding Xiaodai being bullied, refused to tolerate it and made Du Xintong apologize to Ding Xiaodai.
Subsequently, in Zhan Nanxian's office, Du Xintong tearfully admitted to framing Wen Nuan out of jealousy, pleading for a second chance due to her four years of service. Zhan Nanxian, noticing the bruise on Wen Nuan's arm and reflecting on her defense of Ding Xiaodai, realized how Ding Xiaodai resembled Wen Nuan's past self. Deciding against termination, he mandated that Du Xintong undergo a three-month training program alongside new recruits.
He made it clear that her future at Shallow Cosmos would depend on her performance and attitude after the training. Zhan Nanxian later instructed Wen Nuan, his assistant, to accompany him to an evening party, a request she could not decline as it was part of her duties.
While Du Xintong was visibly upset about being relegated to training with new recruits (as she discussed on a phone call), elsewhere, Yi Xin was drinking alone at a restaurant when she encountered Pan Weining. He asked why Zhan Nanxian wasn't with her, to which she replied he was busy. Pan Weining then inquired if she would be attending the night's charity event with Zhan Nanxian.
Although she was unaware of the event, Yi Xin paused before confidently stating that she would. That evening, as Wen Nuan prepared for the event, a package from Shallow Cosmos arrived, containing an elegant dress—a gift from Zhan Nanxian. She wore it to the banquet, drawing many admiring glances. However, Yi Xin ultimately stole the spotlight. Having chosen a striking red gown, she appeared on Zhan Nanxian's arm, making a grand entrance.
Yi Xin had personally arranged to attend with him, making their public display appear intimate. Witnessing this, Wen Nuan instinctively lowered her gaze. Amidst the lively chatter of the banquet, Wen Nuan poured herself a drink. Zhan Nanxian silently appeared behind her, clinking his glass against hers and reminding her that adapting to such social occasions was an essential part of her job.
As they conversed, Pan Wei'an and Pan Weining, two general managers from Yizhong Group, approached, and Zhan Nanxian promptly introduced Wen Nuan to them. Observing this, Yi Xin deliberately led Wen Nuan to a secluded corner. With a pleasant smile, she subtly asserted her claim on Zhan Nanxian, warning Wen Nuan to keep her distance.
From her youth, Yi Xin had harbored a secret love for Zhan Nanxian, but he had always been devoted to Wen Nuan, causing Yi Xin considerable heartache. Now, she was resolved to hold onto him and prevent Wen Nuan from having another chance. On the dance floor, Zhan Nanxian gracefully swayed with Yi Xin, while Zhu Linlu held Wen Nuan. Noticing Wen Nuan's preoccupation with Zhan Nanxian, Zhu Linlu decided to make a playful wager.
He deliberately nudged her, causing her to stumble directly into Zhan Nanxian's arms. Caught off guard, Wen Nuan found herself enveloped in his embrace. For a moment, their eyes met, and they moved together in an impromptu, intimate dance, looking like a perfectly matched couple, much to the astonishment of the other guests and the visible displeasure of Yi Xin, who had been left alone. As the song concluded, Zhan Nanxian released Wen Nuan and resumed dancing with Yi Xin.
Still dazed, Wen Nuan quietly left the ballroom, with Zhu Linlu following close behind. In the serene courtyard, Wen Nuan reproached Zhu Linlu for his childish antics. After a moment of silence, Zhu Linlu confessed his true feelings, stating he wished Wen Nuan wouldn't remain by Zhan Nanxian's side. Wen Nuan responded with a sweet laugh, playfully asking if the charming Mr. Zhu would abandon an entire forest for a single tree.
Stung by her words, Zhu Linlu, rendered speechless, angrily returned to the banquet with another dance partner, leaving Wen Nuan. Shortly after, Zhan Nanxian approached Wen Nuan and escorted her back inside. From upstairs, Yi Xin observed them, her heart heavy with the realization that Zhan Nanxian could not let go of Wen Nuan. Feeling deeply distressed, Yi Xin sought solace in alcohol.
Pan Weining, who secretly harbored feelings for her, came to her side, offering solace and expressing his devotion. However, Yi Xin remained unmoved, understanding that love cannot be forced. The following day, photographs of Wen Nuan and Zhan Nanxian dancing together at the banquet circulated widely online. Ding Xiaodai excitedly pressed Wen Nuan for details. Meanwhile, Gao Fang approached Zhan Nanxian, finally voicing his suspicion about whether Zhan Nanxian and Wen Nuan had known each other previously.
Zhan Nanxian, no longer hiding the truth, openly confessed that Wen Nuan was his first love, bringing Gao Fang a sudden realization. Separately, Leng Rufeng announced that Shallow Cosmos and Daizhong would proceed to the next round of the Alpha project, but also increased the bidding price by twenty percent. Gao Fang advised caution, suggesting Shallow Cosmos should act within its means, but Zhan Nanxian was resolute in his determination to secure Alpha, leading to a heated disagreement between them.
Simultaneously, Zhu Linlu was exhausting every possible avenue to raise the necessary funds for Daizhong to compete fiercely against Shallow Cosmos, despite their limited resources. Wen Nuan soon developed a cold, and Zhan Nanxian sent over cold medicine. Ding Xiaodai prepared the medicine for Wen Nuan before heading home. In the company lobby, she unexpectedly met Guan Ti. The two enthusiastically decided to try a newly opened BBQ restaurant nearby.
Over their meal, Guan Ti shared captivating stories about his, Zhan Nanxian’s, and Gao Fang's arduous journey to establish Shallow Cosmos, detailing the numerous hardships they overcame to build the company. Ding Xiaodai listened, utterly engrossed. Zhu Linlu invited Wen Rou to dinner, burdened by the substantial funding gap and grim outlook for Daizhong. Recognizing Wen Rou's expertise in financing, he sought her assistance.
Later that evening, as Zhu Linlu drove Wen Rou home, he saw Zhan Nanxian also dropping Wen Nuan off, and his face clouded with displeasure. Inside their home, Wen Rou found her sister eating instant noodles and issued a serious warning to Wen Nuan, advising her not to get entangled between Zhan Nanxian and Zhu Linlu, as it would inevitably lead to awkward and difficult situations.
Yi Xin persisted in her efforts to win over Zhan Nanxian, waiting in his office with a thoughtfully chosen gift. When Wen Nuan arrived to deliver coffee, she inadvertently noticed Yi Xin perusing confidential documents on Zhan Nanxian’s desk. Wen Nuan felt this was inappropriate, but Yi Xin, recognizing her discomfort, remained unyielding and defiant.
Shortly after, Zhan Nanxian returned from his meeting, and Yi Xin immediately greeted him with a warm smile, prompting Wen Nuan to discreetly exit the office. Later, as Yi Xin was leaving Shallow Cosmos, she chanced upon Du Xintong. Sensing an opportunity, Du Xintong began to sow discord.
The two quickly formed an alliance: Du Xintong agreed to find a way to oust Wen Nuan from Shallow Cosmos, in exchange for Yi Xin's promise to help her return to a prominent career position. To quickly eliminate Wen Nuan, Yi Xin devised a scheme to undermine her. She handed Shallow Cosmos's confidential bidding price for the Alpha project to Pan Weining, who was then to leak it to Zhu Linlu.
Yi Xin believed that even if Shallow Cosmos suffered financial losses, her pursuit of love should remain unchallenged. Soon after, both the Shallow Cosmos and Daizhong teams arrived in the UK, anticipating Leng Rufeng's meeting to declare the ultimate winner of the Alpha project.
