Da Qing then confided that he remained with the Special Investigation Department to understand the meaning of guardianship and life, which had become the most important thing to him. Acknowledging they both joined the department for similar reasons, Shen Wei declared it was time for the Karma Brush's true owner to reveal himself. Soon after, Zhao Yunlan confronted Wang Xiangyang, identifying him as the owner of the Karma Brush.
Wang Xiangyang, surprised to be found so quickly, admitted he had underestimated them. Zhao Yunlan countered that Wang Xiangyang had been manipulating events from behind the scenes, using others to carry out his revenge and repeatedly deceiving the team. Meanwhile, deep within Subterrane, a Regent reported to the Lord about escalating unrest, noting this was the fourth such incident this month. The Lord expressed concern about the Night King's re-emergence after ten millennia of silence.
The Regent explained that since the Lord's inauguration, the unrest had intensified. He feared that if the residents discovered the absence of the Hallow and the worsening resource shortages, reactionaries might exploit the situation. To counter this, the Regent proposed sending a tactical team to suppress the lurking thugs, a suggestion the Lord approved. Back on Earth, the Marine Administration's research lab suffered repeated attacks.

After careful analysis, he realized the Marine Administration was secretly conducting experiments to turn normal humans into super-powered mutants, similar to Kong Jing, as a countermeasure against the Dixingren. This was confirmed in a private conversation between a guilt-ridden Li Qian and Professor Ouyang, who revealed a desperate contingency plan: restarting their research using previously failed samples, a path he knew was significantly more hazardous but felt was necessary for humanity's sake.
Meanwhile, Lin Jing and Sha Ya shared a tender moment as she prepared to leave Dragon City, telling a crestfallen Lin Jing she had to go because the city no longer had the starry sky she wanted to see.
