Xu Xingcheng rushed to the hospital for a doctor's interview, only to be told it had concluded. Just as he felt discouraged, the interviewer, Director Chen, recognized him. It turned out that on a rainy night, Xu Xingcheng had brought an old opera singer, Jiusuihong, to the emergency department, where Director Chen was on duty, and provided crucial temporary medical treatment, saving the patient's life.

Impressed by Xu Xingcheng's professional skills, and learning from his resume that he was a top student of Liu Guoyang, Director Chen of Benevolence Hospital, made an exception and granted him an interview. Xu Xingcheng successfully passed the interview and secured an intern doctor position. After the interview, Xu Xingcheng did not return home to switch places with Luo Fusheng. Instead, he went directly to the theater to see Tianying perform, much to her surprise and delight.

Meanwhile, Xu Ruian returned home and discovered that the "son" at home was actually Luo Fusheng. Xu Ruian was amused yet frustrated. Luo Fusheng took responsibility, admitting it was his idea to let Xu Xingcheng leave. Xu Ruian expressed his desire for Xu Xingcheng to eventually take over his business, ensuring a stable future for his son and his sister.

He asked Luo Fusheng, whom he considered more mature and independent, to frequently persuade Xu Xingcheng, acknowledging that his own methods as a father might sometimes be flawed, despite his good intentions. Xu Ruian also inquired about Xu Xingcheng’s engagement with Hong Lan, telling Luo Fusheng to speak highly of Xu Xingcheng to Hong Zhengbao (Luo Fusheng's adoptive father) and report any of Xu Xingcheng’s movements.

He also asked Luo Fusheng to tell Xu Xingcheng that his sister had prepared sweet soup for him. After the opera concluded, Xu Xingcheng lingered outside the theater, hoping to see Tianying. Tianci, Tianying's brother, saw Xu Xingcheng as a rival and found an excuse to send him away. Tianci pointed out plainclothes police officers watching from across the street, warning Xu Xingcheng not to implicate their troupe.

Xu Xingcheng declared he would not become a policeman, but a doctor, and intended to marry the woman he loved, though he refused to reveal her identity to Tianci. Once Xu Xingcheng left, Tianci lied to Tianying, claiming Xu Xingcheng had waited impatiently, left some money as a "reward," and then departed. Tianying, feeling disheartened, silently returned home. Luo Fusheng went to buy fried buns.

Uncharacteristically, he waited in line, a sight that surprised many, as he recalled his first encounter with Tianying. He paid generously for his food. Later, he was seen eating the fried buns in front of the theater, gazing at Tianying's poster. That evening, Xu Xingcheng climbed to Tianying’s window to see her. Tianying expressed her unhappiness about him leaving the theater earlier. Xu Xingcheng explained that he had been followed by his father’s plainclothes and left to protect her.

Tianying then asked why he had sent money, which Xu Xingcheng denied, making her realize Tianci had deliberately caused a misunderstanding between them. Tianying's anger subsided. Xu Xingcheng then shared two pieces of good news: he had passed the Benevolence Hospital exam and officially become a doctor, and he wanted to thank her for redeeming him with her necklace, even though she now knew he was the police chief's son.

Xu Xingcheng hinted that their relationship was progressing beyond mere friendship. Suddenly, Tianci knocked on the door. Tianying quickly told Xu Xingcheng to leave through the window, then lied to Tianci that she was already asleep. After Xu Xingcheng feigned a fall outside, Tianying worried and immediately jumped out the window to check on him. Xu Xingcheng then presented her with a rose, saying he was like Zhang Sheng meeting Cui Yinyin.

They ran through the streets, with Tianying expressing guilt over sneaking out, but Xu Xingcheng reassured her. He asked where she wanted to go, and she, having never explored much of Dongjiang, said she would go anywhere with him, unafraid of him. They went to a bar. Xu Xingcheng ordered two Long Island Iced Teas, which Tianying quickly drank, finding it very thirst-quenching. Xu Xingcheng spoke to the bartender in English, which Tianying found interesting.

He then played a beautiful piano piece, dedicating the solo to "Miss Tianying," declaring it the happiest moment of his life to have her by his side. He then invited her to dance. Although Tianying initially refused, saying she didn't know how, Xu Xingcheng patiently taught her, gently guiding her through the steps. After dancing, Tianying felt the effects of the Long Island Iced Tea and became very drunk, eventually passing out and getting sick.

Xu Xingcheng carried the unconscious Tianying home. This scene was witnessed by Luo Fusheng, who was eating fried buns outside the theater. He recalled Xu Xingcheng previously mentioning having someone he liked, and seeing him carry Tianying, Luo Fusheng realized Tianying was that person, filling him with a sense of loss. Tianying carefully sneaked back home but was discovered by Tianci, who angrily confronted her about being out late and associating with "the son of the police chief."

Tianying retorted that he was being overly controlling, pointing out his earlier lie that caused a misunderstanding with Xu Xingcheng. She declared her independence in choosing who she meets and where she goes. Tianci was shocked by her defiant words, deepening his jealousy and resentment. Meanwhile, Xu Xingcheng, after his date, went to meet Luo Fusheng for a drink. Unexpectedly, Xu Ruian arrived with a group of men.

Xu Ruian thanked Luo Fusheng for helping him find his son, intentionally creating a rift between the two friends, and then forcefully took Xu Xingcheng home before Luo Fusheng could explain. Back at home, Xu Ruian stated he would not pursue the day's actions and Xu Xingcheng wouldn't have to report to the police station, but only on one condition.

He ordered Xu Xingcheng to attend the masquerade party being held by Hong Zhengbao for Hong Lan at MGM, and there, he must win Hong Lan's heart. Xu Ruian promised that if Xu Xingcheng performed well, he wouldn't be confined to the house anymore. Realizing this was his chance to see Tianying freely, Xu Xingcheng agreed to attend the masquerade party on time and perform well. Later, Tianying reflected on her evening in her journal.

Despite being scolded by her brother, she felt happy. It was her first time exploring such a new place, listening to Western music, having someone play a solo for her, and dancing with a boy. She described the feeling as wonderful, perhaps "the feeling of being drunk."
