Luo Fusheng, desperate to retrieve the medicine for Tianying's voice, was forced to kneel and plead with Xu Xingcheng. Xu Xingcheng, in an act of utter contempt, scattered the medicine on the ground, humiliating Luo Fusheng with taunts about Tianying's voice and the medicine. After Xu Xingcheng departed, Luo Fusheng humbly gathered the scattered pills from the ground. As he turned, he saw Tianying standing behind him.

Moved by Luo Fusheng's sacrifice of his dignity for her, Tianying cried and embraced him tightly. Meanwhile, Xu Ruian plotted to force a marriage between his son, Xu Xingcheng, and Hong Lan. He arranged a dinner party, secretly lacing the wine with a potent drug. Unaware of the treachery, Xu Xingcheng and Hong Lan drank the wine, falling into Xu Ruian's trap, and their union was irrevocably cemented.

Hong Lan was deeply distressed by the turn of events, and Xu Xingcheng was furious. Later, Xu Xingcheng confronted his father, accusing him of despicable behavior regarding the forced union. Xu Ruian dismissed his son's anger, claiming he was merely facilitating a "beautiful mistake" that any man could make.

He reiterated that Xu Xingcheng's marriage to Hong Lan was on the agenda and that he should keep his distance from Tianying, whom he deemed a source of trouble and beneath their standing. Xu Ruian even threatened to strip Xu Xingcheng of his position as Inspector if he continued to defy him, asserting that he, as a father, knew what was best for his son and that Xu Xingcheng would eventually understand a father's love.

Xu Xingcheng, however, vowed to settle the score. Luo Fusheng began searching for the artisan who made Tianying's necklace, learning it was Mr. Han. However, Xu Xingcheng had already found Mr. Han, learning that the necklace was a custom order from the popular actress Xia Anni years ago. Later, Xu Xingcheng was stunned to see the same necklace worn by his sister, Xu Xingyuan.

Xu Xingyuan explained it was a gift from Lin Qikai, and that Lin Qikai's stepmother, Xia Anni, had commissioned two identical necklaces for the siblings: Lin Qikai and his long-lost sister. This made Xu Xingcheng understand that Tianying was indeed Lin Ruomeng. Fearing that Tianying's true identity would empower Luo Fusheng and complicate his own pursuit of her, Xu Xingcheng selfishly locked away the necklace, intending to bury the secret forever.

In a ruthless move to eliminate any witnesses to this secret, he dispatched men to kill Mr. Han. Shortly after, Luo Fusheng also found Mr. Han, who confirmed that Xia Anni had commissioned two identical necklaces, one for Lin Qikai and one for her biological daughter, Lin Ruomeng. Mr. Han also mentioned Xu Xingcheng's earlier inquiry. Before Luo Fusheng could press for more details, Mr. Han was tragically gunned down by Xu Xingcheng's assassins.

Disturbed by the murder and the implications of the necklace, Luo Fusheng decided to confront Xu Xingcheng at the police station and demand its return. Xu Xingcheng, however, denied everything, claiming he had thrown the necklace into the Huangpu River and scoffing at Luo Fusheng's accusation regarding Mr. Han's murder. Luo Fusheng accused Xu Xingcheng of sick possessiveness, hindering Tianying's search for her identity.

Xu Xingcheng taunted Luo Fusheng, asking him to bring Tianying to kneel together and beg for the necklace. Enraged, Luo Fusheng punched Xu Xingcheng. Xu Xingcheng retaliated by drawing a pistol, escalating the tension between the two former friends to a dangerous standoff. Just then, Lin Qikai arrived and intervened, preventing further violence. He expressed his profound disappointment that a single woman had driven his two close friends to such animosity, declaring their conflict absurd.

Luo Fusheng hinted that there was more to understand, but Lin Qikai, frustrated, focused on the destruction of their brotherhood. Lin Qikai later met with Tianying, explaining the dangerous extent of the conflict between Xu Xingcheng and Luo Fusheng, particularly that Xu Xingcheng had nearly killed Luo Fusheng. He urged Tianying to leave Dongjiang, offering substantial compensation. Tianying, however, adamantly refused, stating that her brief life wouldn't be complete if she left before discovering her true parentage.

Lin Qikai offered to help her with her search, but insisted she must leave Dongjiang, which she again declined. That night, Luo Fusheng and Luocheng covertly infiltrated the police station. They worked painstakingly to open a safe in Xu Xingcheng's office, eventually retrieving the necklace before escaping through a window as the police force was alerted. Xu Xingcheng was furious upon discovering the theft, chastising his incompetent officers for failing to stop them and identify the culprits.

The next day, during a film shoot, Tianying was slated to film a gun scene. The prop gun had been deliberately replaced with a real weapon. Fortunately, Luo Fusheng detected the danger in time, and Tianying only fainted from shock, her life spared. At the hospital, Luo Fusheng watched over Tianying. Lin Qikai burst in, confronting Luo Fusheng.

He confessed that he was behind the prop gun swap, admitting he intended to remove Tianying from Dongjiang to prevent his two friends, Xu Xingcheng and Luo Fusheng, from destroying each other over her. Seeing the gravity of the situation, Luo Fusheng finally revealed the truth: Tianying was Lin Ruomeng. Lin Qikai stared in disbelief. Luo Fusheng presented the retrieved necklace. Just then, Tianying awoke.

After hearing their explanations, including Tianying's own account of the necklace's mysterious origin and Luo Fusheng's confirmation from the artisan about Xia Anni's commission, Lin Qikai was finally convinced, confirming that Tianying was indeed his long-lost sister.
