Granting You a Dreamlike Life Episode 13 Recap
> Granting You a Dreamlike Life Recap
Luo Fusheng desperately dug at the rocks, hoping to unearth an exit from the cave. By his side, Tianying, though weakened, sang to bolster his spirits. His hands soon became raw and bloody, but after an arduous night, he finally breached the barrier. However, Tianying was now afflicted with a high fever and felt extremely fragile. Witnessing Luo Fusheng's relentless effort through the night, she was deeply touched. Just as they prepared to escape, the cave abruptly trembled again.
Without a moment's hesitation, Luo Fusheng pushed Tianying out to safety, only to become trapped inside himself. In a final, desperate plea, Luo Fusheng shouted his true feelings to Tianying, confessing, "Tianying, I like you!" Overwhelmed, Tianying collapsed into unconsciousness outside the cave. When Tianying awoke, she found herself cradled in Xu Xingcheng's arms. He was dressed in a police uniform.
After ensuring Tianying was unharmed, Xu Xingcheng rushed to Luo Fusheng's side, attempting resuscitation with tears streaming down his face. However, Luo Fusheng showed no signs of life. Distraught, Tianying stumbled towards him, held his hand, and tearfully begged him to wake up. She promised they would go for fried dumplings together. Hearing her voice, Luo Fusheng stirred, weakly opening his eyes and reiterating his promise to take her for fried dumplings.
Xu Xingcheng transported both injured individuals to the hospital, where they were confirmed to be in stable condition. Upon fully regaining consciousness, Tianying questioned Xu Xingcheng's new police attire, bewildered by his sudden departure from his medical aspirations. Xu Xingcheng explained that he had conceded to his father's demands to become a police officer, but he deliberately withheld the true reason—that this was the only way to secure his father's help in rescuing Tianying.
Tianying, misunderstanding his choice, became disappointed, struggling to reconcile this new Xu Xingcheng, who merely rationalized his change by suggesting that life in Dongjiang was unpredictable and that he merely sought to adapt while retaining his core values, with the idealist she once knew. Meanwhile, Hong Lan also awoke and, despite her own weakened state, insisted on visiting Luo Fusheng. She rushed to embrace him, but Luo Fusheng's first thoughts were for Tianying's well-being, which greatly angered Hong Lan.
Lin Qikai then revealed to Luo Fusheng that Hong Lan had been severely injured, hitting her head while attempting to clear rocks to facilitate their rescue, and had refused to leave until he was found. Feeling immense guilt, Luo Fusheng apologized and thanked her. Hong Lan demanded that he recuperate at the Hong family residence after his discharge.
Luo Fusheng initially hesitated but was persuaded by Lin Qikai, who emphasized the ongoing threat from the unapprehended assassin and the safety benefits of staying at the Hong household. Luo Fusheng agreed. As soon as Hong Lan departed, Luo Fusheng hurried to find Tianying, only to discover she had already been discharged. Xu Xingcheng had driven Tianying home, but she coldly dismissed him upon their arrival. Tianying returned to find Nine-Year Red gravely ill from the anxiety of her disappearance.
To assuage his fears, she fabricated a story, claiming she was assaulted by a rogue and rescued by Luo Fusheng and Xu Xingcheng. Tianci, enraged by Xu Xingcheng's involvement, began to curse him, but Nine-Year Red intervened, instructing Tianci to control his temper and promising to handle everything. Privately, Nine-Year Red worried about Tianci's lack of capability. He reminisced about finding Tianying many years ago, an injured and amnesiac young girl whom he adopted and taught opera.
Her natural talent far outshone Tianci's, leading him to ponder entrusting the troupe to her, yet he harbored concerns about her naivety in the face of life's challenges. The following day, Xu Xingcheng, along with Hong Lan and others, picked up Luo Fusheng from the hospital. Noticing Xu Xingcheng's police uniform, Luo Fusheng understood the sacrifice he had made. Luo Fusheng candidly admitted that he had confessed his feelings to Tianying in the cave, believing he was about to die.
However, he expressed his desire for fair competition and urged Xu Xingcheng to disclose the true reason behind his career change to Tianying. Xu Xingcheng declined, wanting to spare Tianying any burden. He was deeply troubled by Tianying's disappointment and the emotional distance between them, recalling his father's ultimatum: choose between his medical ideals and saving Tianying, with only the police uniform granting him the authority needed for her rescue.
Later, Xu Xingcheng visited Tianying's home, but Tianci proudly blocked his entrance. Undeterred, Xu Xingcheng climbed to Tianying's window and pleaded for an opportunity to explain. Tianying, however, refused to open it. She expressed her profound disappointment that he had so readily abandoned his dream of being a doctor, a dream she had deeply admired, for a role within Dongjiang's "notorious police force." She felt he was no longer the guiding light he once was.
Xu Xingcheng attempted to explain that he had yielded to "fate's joke," but insisted his affection for her remained steadfast. Tianying countered that his ideals were as fundamental as his life, and she could not reconcile his sudden change, nor could she currently face their relationship. She informed him that her father was ill and required her care, reiterating her request for him to leave.
Meanwhile, an unidentified group noted Luo Fusheng's relocation to the Hong family's residence, which complicated their plans to target him. They devised a scheme to stir up unrest in City God Temple street, Luo Fusheng's former territory, intending to destabilize his affairs and discredit him while he remained under Hong's protection.
