Soon after, the rest of the Masked Squad arrived one after another.
They had long known that Wangquan Hongye didn’t want them to take the risk with him, so they had pretended to be drunk—then suddenly appeared to surprise him. Wangquan Hongye shattered the Daoist’s Heavenly Gate Array with a single strike. The group entered the outer realm through the torn gap. Meanwhile, Huaizhu went to Tushan. Even though she knew the consequences, she still decided to go.
She had to wait until the black fox reversed the flow of the Bitter Love Tree’s energy—when the tree rapidly withered, that would be her moment to act. Just after Huaizhu left, Jin Renfeng had Xiao Dong poison Dongfang Churi’s medicine. Beyond the barrier was pitch-black, filled with dense fog. Li Zizai used his gourd to clear the path. The Black Bitter Love Tree, radiating despair and death, suddenly appeared before them.
Wangquan Hongye took Yang Yitan to scout ahead and told the others to stay put and not act on their own. Yang Yitan discovered a concealed barrier. Using his Celestial Eye, he opened it—Wangquan Shouzhuo was sitting inside with his eyes closed. Wangquan Hongye had still come too late. His father’s image faded before his eyes, and he picked up his father’s Wangquan Sword. The black fox attacked fiercely.
Wangquan Hongye immediately ordered Wangquan Zui to set up a formation to fend off the assault. But what they never expected was that Yang Yitan had already been controlled by the black fox while still inside the barrier. The black fox activated the demon energy within Yang Yitan, taking control of him, causing a crack in the formation, which was then breached. Everyone was blasted away, leaving Wangquan Hongye alone to face the enemy.
But gradually, he realized that all his moves seemed to be seen through by the black fox. He launched a surprise strike and finally wounded her, but as long as hatred remained, the black fox would not die. Meanwhile, Qingmu Yuan was struck down by the black fox and coughed up blood.
