Wangquan Hongye took Dongfang Huaizhu to Half-Moon Lake to make a wish. Their wishes were all about each other, hoping for one another’s happiness and safety. The Half-Moon Lake turned round, and the trees glowed with a purple light—it was a beautiful sight. Seeing her elder sister and Wangquan Hongye as a perfect match, Dongfang Qinlan felt emotional and decided to head back. But since she was already there, Li Quzhuo pulled her along to make a wish too.
Before Li Quzhuo could even make his wish, he turned back into a puppy. Dongfang Qinlan returned to her courtyard, full of conflicting emotions, and couldn’t help but drink to drown her sorrows. The flower spirit of the Twilight Mist Flower found Wangquan Hongye and Dongfang Huaizhu surprising and allowed them to advance to the next round of selection. Huaizhu, being kind, obtained a Twilight Mist Flower capable of purifying evil.
However, Wangquan Hongye had committed many killings in his youth, and the flower spirit judged him as evil and turned him to stone. Without hesitation, Huaizhu injected the Twilight Mist Flower into Wangquan Hongye’s body, trying to wake him up. Wangquan Hongye’s soul left his body and entered the moment closest to becoming a demon. Dongfang Huaizhu awakened him. Deeply moved, the flower spirit let Qinlan and the others on the other side survive as well. The flower spirit left behind a trace of Jiang Juanxue’s spiritual energy, allowing her to say final words to the sisters Huaizhu and Qinlan.
