Divine Destiny Episode 33 Recap
> Divine Destiny Recap
Ji Ruochen stood among the Honghuang Guards protecting the Endless Sea. He accurately revealed the sea's profound secret, explaining that it was refined from the memories and tears of lovers by the Master of Sentient Beings, possessing extraordinary spiritual power that had suppressed the Demon Tower for millennia. Ji Ruochen further asserted that the Endless Sea Master had controlled his life from the beginning, and even Zhang Wancai and Jinhua were connected to this celestial entity.
The Endless Sea Master affirmed Ji Ruochen's suspicions, admitting that he had even provided the cultivation manual Ji Ruochen had diligently studied as a waiter. Despite his meticulous planning, the Master had not anticipated Ji Ruochen's swift transformation into a Demon King. Ji Ruochen now possessed immense power, daring to challenge the Endless Sea Master. A fierce battle ensued. Ji Ruochen, wielding his newfound demonic strength, drained the Endless Sea.
Countless Honghuang Guards perished, and the Endless Sea Master was severely wounded. During the chaos, Ling, bravely defending the Endless Sea, was consumed by blue flames and turned into ashes. As he vanished, Ling desperately apologized and pleaded with Ji Ruochen to care for Zhang Yinyin. Zhang Yinyin watched in horror as Ling sacrificed himself for the Endless Sea, which was now reduced to scorched earth.
Overwhelmed by grief and self-reproach, despite having regained her memories, she felt that Ji Ruochen had become a stranger. Ji Ruochen approached her, apologizing for the destruction, but Zhang Yinyin was consumed by sorrow, lamenting that she no longer recognized the man she loved. As the Endless Sea Master departed, he warned Ji Ruochen not to regret his actions when the Demon Tower was finally unleashed.
Ji Ruochen, however, stated that his greatest regret was bringing Zhang Yinyin to the Monster Forbidden Zone, where she suffered to restore his cultivation by exchanging Nuwa's Tears. Two weapon masters, who previously served the Endless Sea, also bid farewell to the Master, deciding to seek new treasures in the South Sea, as their work on the Universal Cannon was halted by the destruction of the Endless Sea's vault.
The Master wished them well, stating that everyone should pursue their desires in life. Qingyi, a being created from the blood of an ancient Monster King, questioned why she survived when Ling and others perished. The Master explained her unique lineage, stating that her bloodline was different and she wouldn't disappear even if he did.
He then reaffirmed that he built the Endless Sea for peace, but with its destruction, he must now dedicate his life to protecting the Three Realms. Qingyi, however, insisted on following him, but the Master encouraged her to pursue her own desired life, before departing. Zhang Yinyin confronted Ji Ruochen, accusing him of becoming a merciless Demon King responsible for the impending chaos across the Three Realms.
Ji Ruochen retorted that he was tired of being burdened with the fate of the Three Realms, recalling his own perilous past where no one helped him. He credited his father's spirit, sealed within the throne in Nine Hells, for guiding him to become the Demon King, enabling him to finally resist being trampled upon. Zhang Yinyin, however, accused him of merely seeking to become the supreme ruler amidst the chaos.
Distraught, she proclaimed that she regretted ever knowing him or regaining her memories, then drew her sword and symbolically severed their ties. Ji Ruochen was left grappling with his actions and Zhang Yinyin's distraught departure, wondering what he had done. Meanwhile, Xuanzhen continued his training in the Bowing and Nodding Technique under his Master, though he initially lacked the necessary killer instinct. Seeing his disciple's stagnant progress, his Master abducted Senior Bingxian, knowing Xuanzhen's deep respect for her.
He challenged Xuanzhen to a duel, threatening Senior Bingxian's well-being. Driven by a desperate need to save her, Xuanzhen unleashed his full potential, proving his innate talent for the technique. In his final moments, the Master, severely weakened from a past battle with Wangchen that had cost him his cultivation and led him to learn this technique, transferred his true spiritual energy to Xuanzhen.
He then removed his mask and departed into the mountains, having fulfilled his purpose of cultivating a new guardian for the forbidden area. Xuanzhen gradually matured, understanding the heavy responsibility that now rested upon him as the guardian of the forbidden area. Senior Bingxian, initially distraught at Xuanzhen's seemingly forced decision, learned that he had willingly chosen this solitary path.
He explained that he felt more at ease in the forbidden area, away from the expectations of Xixuan Mountains, and vowed to protect Xixuan from the shadows. A flashback then showed their playful past, including an annual Xixuan exam where Senior Bingxian playfully asserted her authority over a younger, more mischievous Xuanzhen, who readily agreed to obey her as his senior disciple. Zhang Yinyin returned to Xixuan and revealed the truth of the Endless Sea's destruction.
Hierarch Ziwei's fears were confirmed, and she resolved to lead the immortals in a full-scale assault against the Demon King. Other Hierarchs expressed their apprehension, recalling Ji Ruochen's past heroism in defending Xixuan and questioning the morality of striking down their former disciple. Hierarch Ziwei recounted her previous private conversation with Ji Ruochen, where he declared their karmic ties severed, having repaid his debt to Xixuan.
Zhang Yinyin maintained that Ji Ruochen's actions, both in saving Xixuan and destroying the Endless Sea, were driven by his desire to restore her memories. However, she now condemned him for his bloodthirsty nature, declaring that she wanted nothing more to do with him.
Despite their past connection, the Hierarchs concluded that Ji Ruochen's path now threatened all Three Realms, and they had no choice but to confront him, even if it meant a desperate fight against an opponent who had bested the Endless Sea Master. Zhang Yinyin's Master later expressed concern for her, noting her changed demeanor.
Zhang Yinyin questioned if the Nine Nether Dark Flames truly changed Ji Ruochen, but her Master dismissed the idea that such monster arts, or even the Monster Cultivation Plant Zhang Yinyin herself had used, could fundamentally alter one's nature. This left open the possibility of a deeper, unknown reason for Ji Ruochen's transformation.
