Ji Ruochen, searching through a town, spotted Zhang Yinyin's distinct handwriting on a piece of paper, reigniting his hope. Though Zhang Yinyin had once wished for him to forget her and find happiness with Gu Qing, Ji Ruochen's deep affection made forgetting impossible as he tirelessly sought her out. Meanwhile, Gu Qing awoke from a dream where Yinfeng had asked if she remembered their ancient commitment.

She couldn't, or wouldn't, remember, expressing her desire to be only with Ji Ruochen and pleading for Yinfeng to stop pursuing her. Yinfeng, who had been diligently caring for her in her unconscious state at Yun Zhong Ju, explained she was in a guest room where he, as a guest, was also staying. Gu Qing, still reeling from the dream where Yinfeng had entered her space and thoughts, accused him of being presumptuous.

Yinfeng gently insisted that with the bluestone returned, she should revert to her original, immortal self, but Gu Qing lamented that she had lost her immortal dharma-laksana and was no different from a mortal. Yinfeng vowed to help her regain it, even reminding her how Ji Ruochen had treated her at the Xixuan hall, where she had given up her immortal form for him.

Despite Yinfeng's unwavering devotion, Gu Qing maintained that her past connection with him was irrelevant and asked him to leave. As Gu Qing stumbled out of bed and into the courtyard, visions of her shared past with Yinfeng suddenly appeared before her eyes, as Yinfeng recounted their history.

He had been with her through ninety-nine lifetimes, first as an elder brother figure to her as a young girl, then as a companion in martial arts training when she became a female warrior. In a later life, as a general on the battlefield, he, her loyal subordinate, had shielded her from danger, stepping in front of her to face countless enemies.

Yinfeng recounted how he had promised to bear all hardships with her, protecting and caring for her until they could return to the God Realm together. He lamented not finding her sooner, preventing her from suffering such injustice, and explained that he had willingly followed her to the mortal realm after she was banished. He pleaded with her to return to the God Realm with him, to be a perfect couple by the Wuding River once more.

Gu Qing, however, confessed she couldn't even recall his original immortal appearance, to which Yinfeng assured her she would remember once her immortal consciousness fully awakened. A Yun Zhong Ju disciple named Tan then arrived, expressing displeasure at Yinfeng's presence, but Gu Qing defended him, asserting she had invited him into the guest room. Elsewhere, Zhang Yinyin and Ji Ruochen found themselves captured by members of the Luoran Sect.

They were accused of being "evil female cultivators" from the Xixuan Sect, seemingly to avenge Luoran's losses in Haofang City. Ji Ruochen initially tried to trick their captors by boasting that Xixuan forces were on their way and by feigning a willingness to sacrifice Zhang Yinyin, claiming her master, Ziwei, was in a deadly retreat and couldn't support her. The Luoran Sect members, however, were unconvinced, dismissing him as a braggart.

They bound the two and confined them in a dungeon constructed from Heaven-sealing Stones, designed to drain spiritual energy and lock true spirits, ensuring they wouldn't survive the night. Alone in the dungeon, Ji Ruochen produced a paper crane from his robes, which Zhang Yinyin initially refused to look at. However, she recognized the gardenia scent, confirming it was from her mother.

The letter explained that Zhang Yinyin's father, Jingxiao, had been poisoned by Xuxuan, and her mother, desperate to save him, had threatened Ji Ruochen with Jingxiao's life to force a marriage alliance with Gu Qing, hoping to secure an antidote from Yun Zhong Ju. The letter revealed that Jingxiao was now cured and the engagement between Ji Ruochen and Gu Qing was broken, urging Zhang Yinyin and Ji Ruochen to reconcile and return to Xixuan.

Zhang Yinyin was aghast, realizing she had terribly misunderstood Ji Ruochen, who had endured her accusations, insults, and even a sword stab, all while trying to save her father. Ji Ruochen explained he hadn't told her to spare her from the distress. The couple finally reconciled, admitting how much they missed each other.

Zhang Yinyin then asked about the rumors of Xixuan's marriage alliance and who saved her father; Ji Ruochen clarified that Senior Qiushui's marriage to Miss Shi Ji had led Elder Jin Shan to intervene and save Jingxiao. They then focused on finding a way to escape. Meanwhile, Li Xuanzhen, having heard of Zhang Yinyin and Ji Ruochen's capture, sought out Ji Bingxian on a remote mountaintop.

Ji Bingxian, initially uninterested in Li Xuanzhen's "messy things," was eventually persuaded when Li Xuanzhen explained that everyone in Xixuan, including Senior Yunfeng, believed only Ji Bingxian could help. Li Xuanzhen even playfully teased her about being lonely since Senior Qiushui's marriage had left her without challengers.

Upon hearing the urgency of the situation—that Zhang Yinyin and Ji Ruochen were taken by the Luoran Sect and their lives were at risk—Ji Bingxian immediately agreed, urging Li Xuanzhen to lead the way. They arrived at the Luoran mountain gate, where Ji Bingxian boldly announced herself as a disciple of Changyang Palace of Xixuan and demanded to see their hierarch. Xuxuan of the Qingxu Sect was present, greeting Lord Daluo, the Luoran Sect leader.

Xuxuan affirmed that Xixuan had attacked as Lord Daluo expected, and offered Qingxu's aid to destroy Xixuan, emphasizing their disobedient stance against the dominant Xixuan Sect. Ji Bingxian, unimpressed by the Luoran Sect's unpaved entrance, swiftly engaged the enemy, demonstrating her incredibly fast swordsmanship, to the awe of Li Xuanzhen and the dismay of the Luoran members who quickly retreated. Later, Gu Qing visited Yinfeng, who was resting in his room.

An attendant named Tan had just left after bringing him a brazier. Gu Qing observed Yinfeng's ill state, noting his "old problem" seemed to be worsening. She quickly deduced that he had suffered a backlash from a dreadstar by the Hao River, damaging his primordial spirit and deity prowess. Gu Qing offered him a Golden Elixir, a secret remedy from Yun Zhong Ju, to heal him.

Yinfeng found the elixir bitter, prompting Gu Qing to playfully remark on a banished god's dislike for bitterness. As she reached out, her hand accidentally brushed against a jade artifact on Yinfeng, triggering a cascade of forgotten memories. Gu Qing relived a past life where she, as the Bluestone God, was punished by the Heavenly Emperor for releasing a Great Heavenly Demon, condemned to a hundred lifetimes of tribulation in the impure world.

During this vision, she heard the Border Patrol God, Yinfeng's true identity, pleading with the Heavenly Emperor to spare her and vowing to follow her to the mortal realm, unwilling to let her endure countless hardships alone. Upon remembering their ten-thousand-year companionship by the Wuding River and his unwavering devotion through ninety-nine lifetimes, Gu Qing's eyes welled with tears, realizing the depth of his sacrifice for her.
