Zhang Yinyin, after sailing for an extended period, finally spotted a small island. She disembarked and approached a figure playing Go, asking for a bowl of water to quench her thirst. The Go player, who remained still, simply asked if she would play a game with him. Zhang Yinyin, in a hurry, had no desire for a game and was about to leave when she saw Ling serving water to the Go player, whom she then recognized as Mr. Wu.

Realizing she had returned to the Endless Sea despite her efforts, Zhang Yinyin became enraged and attempted to overturn the Go board, only to find it incredibly sturdy and unyielding. Mr. Wu, the master of all monsters, recognized Zhang Yinyin as Su He's disciple, the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox. He claimed that Qingyi, due to her involvement in the Haofang affairs because of Zhang Yinyin, had disturbed her mind and was now undergoing re-cultivation, leaving him without a companion for Go.

He suggested Zhang Yinyin take Qingyi's place. Zhang Yinyin, proud to be the chief disciple of Taixuan Palace, vehemently refused, but Mr. Wu dismissed her status, even insulting Ziwei, the hierarch of the Xixuan Sect. Zhang Yinyin, in turn, reprimanded him for insulting her sect's hierarch. Mr. Wu, recalling Su He, remarked that even after a thousand years, he couldn't escape their connection.

However, he refused to release Zhang Yinyin, fearing she would inform her master and incite more trouble, thus keeping her confined to the Endless Sea. Meanwhile, Xichen encountered a man she believed to be Luo Feng and called out to him. The man, now known as Yinfeng, informed her that the Luo Feng she knew had died and that he, as a banished god, was destined to return to the God Realm. He urged her to forget their shared past.

A distraught Xichen reminded him of their former affections, to which Yinfeng responded by giving her a volume of the Book of Heaven's immortal techniques, declaring that he had repaid all he owed her, and their ties were severed. Later, Xichen's master, Jin Shan, chastised her for sacrificing her immortal dharma-laksana for Ji Ruochen, accusing Ziwei of manipulating the situation.

Jin Shan then confronted Ziwei about the status of the engagement between Gu Qing and Ji Ruochen after Gu Qing's sacrifice. Ziwei, seeking to strengthen the Xixuan Sect's position amidst looming challenges, proposed that Ji Ruochen marry Gu Qing to repay her life-saving kindness. Jin Shan agreed, but demanded a grand wedding that would invite all sects, firmly stating that Xixuan was begging for this union. Ji Ruochen prepared to venture into the Endless Sea to bring Zhang Yinyin back.

Before his departure, he was stopped by two fellow disciples who informed him that his master had ordered him to rest due to injuries from the Haofang incident, assigning them to his service, effectively preventing his journey. Later, during a meeting with Ziwei, Ji Ruochen confessed to losing the Shenzhou Energy Map during the Haofang incident.

Ziwei revealed that the map was, in fact, the Xuanxin Ring given to Ji Ruochen by Huaniang by the Hao River, and that its spiritual energy had been obscured. Ziwei explained this artifact was a spiritual cave and acknowledged Ji Ruochen's rare ability to sense its unrefined spiritual flow.

Ziwei then disclosed his long-standing knowledge that Ji Ruochen was not the true banished god, but urged him to remain and help Xixuan navigate its impending difficulties, as the sect's foundation relied on him. As night fell on the island, Zhang Yinyin sat alone, her heart heavy with longing for Ji Ruochen, Xuanzhen, and her parents. She asked Ling if he had someone he liked.

Ling, a spirit crafted by Mr. Wu, explained that he lacked emotions, did not require sleep or sustenance, and only held affection for his master, expressing confusion at Zhang Yinyin's pain over a loved one. Soon after, her two companions, Long Xiang and Bai Hu, appeared, having accidentally caused an explosion in Mr. Wu's warehouse while working on their Universal Cannon.

They informed Zhang Yinyin that Qingyi had offended Mr. Wu during her visit to Haofang and had been imprisoned in the Ice Prison. There, Qingyi was said to endure intense suffering, purifying her heart with blood and performing painful cultivation to sever her ties to the mortal world, a choice she had made willingly. Infuriated by this revelation, Zhang Yinyin resolved to intervene. Zhang Yinyin declared her intention to confront Mr. Wu.

If she won, she demanded the release of herself, Long Xiang, Bai Hu, and Qingyi. Zhang Yinyin asserted that Mr. Wu was confined to his tree and instructed Long Xiang and Bai Hu to aim their Universal Cannon at him. However, they, frightened of Mr. Wu's power and their prior actions in blowing up his warehouse, fled with the cannon.

Mr. Wu, finding the increased activity on his island amusing, rejected her terms, stating that in the Endless Sea, he was the sole authority. Zhang Yinyin countered that his rules would change with her presence and, undeterred, pulled out her sword, aiming to split his mask. Effortlessly, Mr. Wu defeated her, remarking that she had only learned the superficial aspects of her Heavenly Fox secret technique, and banished her to the Ice Prison.

Zhang Yinyin plummeted into a cavern within the Ice Prison and was surprised to hear Qingyi conversing with what sounded like Ji Ruochen. Rushing forward, she discovered Qingyi was merely interacting with a wooden puppet resembling Ji Ruochen. Qingyi, delighted by Zhang Yinyin's arrival, excitedly asked her to demonstrate how to kiss, claiming she also wished to experience kissing "Ji Ruochen."

Incensed by Qingyi's playful demeanor despite her supposed suffering, Zhang Yinyin confronted her, leading to a squabble over the puppet. Qingyi argued that she had the right to make her own "Ji Ruochen," as Zhang Yinyin had hers. She explained that having grown up in isolation within the Endless Sea, she lacked understanding of emotions. Ling, called to mediate, sided with Zhang Yinyin, clarifying that Ji Ruochen was Zhang Yinyin's beloved and could not be shared. Witnessing the disruption Zhang Yinyin caused among his inhabitants, Mr. Wu, after a moment of consideration, decided to expel her from the Endless Sea to restore peace to his island.
