Destiny's Love Episode 36 (Ending) Recap
> Destiny's Love Recap
Chi Yu awoke to find Wen Suxi not by his side and called out for her anxiously. Suxi soon came downstairs with some items, explaining that she had gone to prepare for their planned sunrise viewing. She hadn't wanted to wake him while he slept. Chi Yu expressed his relief at seeing her, saying he thought he would never see her again. Suxi asked him to help her carry some things while she retrieved a thermos.
As they watched the beautiful sunrise on the beach, Suxi proposed they return in winter, when it snowed, to spend Christmas Eve together. She explained how films released during the Christmas season were always big box office hits due to all the couples on the streets. Chi Yu promised to accompany her once more for Christmas Eve.
He then tried to taste her chocolate, saying he wanted to know what she liked, but Suxi playfully refused, claiming there wasn't enough even for herself. Chi Yu then presented her with a crystal ball for her birthday. Suxi grew pensive, lamenting that she would grow old and die one day, while Chi Yu would not, leaving him alone. She asked him to let her dream one more time, to see their future.
In her dream, Suxi and Chi Yu had a simple yet grand wedding on a sunny day. She would wake up every morning to see him beside her. They owned a courtyard with a ginkgo tree, watched their own films in the cinema, and became parents to a lovely child. This beautiful life, however, was just a dream.
As Suxi awoke, she gazed at the sleeping Chi Yu and decided that if everything could not be stopped, she would protect him. She kissed him gently and, with a heavy heart, quietly left. Before facing her ultimate decision, Suxi visited Lin Haoshu and Youyou. She thanked Lin Haoshu and apologized to him, then called her father. On the phone, she told him she missed him and asked him to take care of himself.
After hanging up, she whispered "I love you, Dad," as a silent farewell. Suxi then met Hua Yecheng. She explained her resolve to let Chi Yu survive. When Hua Yecheng questioned if love could still exist when two people couldn't be together, Suxi firmly replied that she loved Chi Yu more than ever.
She expressed that encountering someone who would do everything for her was enough, and remaining alone to forget him would be cruel to both Ji Wan and Wen Suxi. Despite the unchangeable rules, she believed she controlled her own destiny and wished for Chi Yu to live. She shared her feelings about time and eternity, affirming that with Chi Yu, she feared nothing.
She recounted the story of a proud cat who cried for the first time when separated from its beloved. Finally, she apologized to Chi Yu in her thoughts and hoped he would always remember that Wen Suxi had loved him. Suxi, holding onto her beautiful memories of Chi Yu, walked through the Star Falling Door. Chi Yu awoke to find Suxi gone. He frantically called her name and wept sorrowfully.
As he did, the crystal ball he had given her suddenly shattered. He understood Suxi had made her choice. He rushed to the curator's hall, where Hua Yecheng was also present. A fight ensued between the two, but Chi Yu was quickly defeated by Hua Yecheng. Chi Yu demanded to know Suxi's whereabouts, but the curator merely stated that this was her inevitable end and questioned why Chi Yu was wasting his effort.
The curator then attempted to seize Chi Yu's Pen of Constellation, but Hua Yecheng intervened, exposing the curator's true motives. Hua Yecheng revealed that the curator had initially claimed obtaining the Sun and Moon Jade would reunite him with Huichu forever. He had initially believed the curator merely wanted to save his illegitimate child, but later realized the curator had a deeper agenda.
The curator confirmed his plans, stating there was no need to hide it now that Hua Yecheng had discovered the truth. Hua Yecheng explained that the curator had deliberately leaked their plan to Chi Yu to pit them against each other and deplete their Pen of Constellation's energy.
With Chi Yu weakened, the curator intended to take Chi Yu's Pen of Constellation, which he could wield more easily than Hua Yecheng’s, and use it in a sacrifice with the Sun and Moon Jade for his own power. The curator, seeing his plan exposed, attacked Hua Yecheng, remarking that the jade ring he had given Hua Yecheng was specifically for such a day. However, Hua Yecheng was not defeated.
He revealed he had long suspected the curator's true intentions and had only played along because he desperately wanted Huichu to stay with him forever. He admitted his error, realizing he was clinging to his own obsession. He now understood Suxi's earlier question about love without togetherness, finding peace in her answer. Hua Yecheng informed the curator that he had reported all his crimes to headquarters, assuring him that even if he didn't surrender, he would be apprehended.
The curator warned Hua Yecheng that he, too, was guilty. Hua Yecheng accepted this, stating he had no intention of escaping his own fate. He then seized half of the Sun and Moon Jade from the curator and sent him away, stating he needed to finish what he had to do. Chi Yu approached the Star Falling Door. Hua Yecheng cautioned him that only humans from Earth could pass through it.
Chi Yu then made a deal with Youwu, selling his identity as a destiny writer to become a complete human. In exchange, You You would awaken, and Chi Yu would receive one last chance to use his Pen of Constellation. Youwu warned him that he would never return to Beidou, would lose all five senses, and would die like an ordinary human after passing through the door. Youwu took the Sun and Moon Jade and bade him farewell.
Chi Yu then stepped into the door, calling out for Suxi, who was surprised to see him there, prepared for her own reincarnation. Inside, Chi Yu confessed his true feelings to Suxi. He admitted that initially, he had protected her out of his feelings for Ji Wan and to atone for a 3,000-year-old mistake, even doubting if he truly loved Suxi or merely Ji Wan.
But at that moment, he knew with certainty that he loved Suxi, and she had never changed. Suxi, noticing his eyes were now clouded, asked him why he had come. Chi Yu gently reminded her of their promise to watch the sunrise on Christmas Eve, regretting that she had left him alone. He tearfully told her he loved her.
Using his last burst of energy, Chi Yu pushed Suxi out of the Star Falling Door, sacrificing himself to remain in the ethereal realm. Suxi cried out for him to return, but it was too late. As Chi Yu drifted away, he imagined Suxi's future, the one she had dreamt of: marrying, having a child, and building a family with someone who would grow old with her.
He pledged that he would always be with her, transforming into rain in bad weather and wind in good, ensuring she would never be lonely. Chi Yu ate a chocolate, finally tasting Suxi's favorite flavor as he faded into nothingness. Years passed. Lin Haoshu and Wang Xiaomi found love, as did Duo La and Hu Dongkai. Wen Suxi returned to her busy life as a filmmaker, with You You as her assistant.
One day, as they drove to a film press conference, Suxi passed a familiar road and felt a familiar pang of sadness, thinking of someone who only appeared in her dreams. Whenever she felt sad, she would eat a chocolate. On a nearby beach, a Pen of Constellation washed ashore, and a man walked towards it.
