Wen Suxi arrived at her former company as prompted by a text message she received earlier. Finding the office empty, she heard a phone ring and discovered a hard drive belonging to Tang Mao. She suspected the hard drive might contain evidence related to the leak of her film copy. The next day, Tang Mao opened his safe to find his hard drive missing. He immediately called Jiang Yu to investigate.
Reviewing the surveillance footage, Tang Mao saw that only Wen Suxi had been at the company the previous night, which led him to suspect she had taken the hard drive. Though Jiang Yu suggested calling the police, Tang Mao declined. He pondered how Wen Suxi could have known about the hard drive, even wondering if Chi Yu possessed some omniscient ability.
He then sternly warned Jiang Yu not to mention the incident to anyone, implicitly threatening that he would destroy Chi Yu if he were to harm Wen Suxi. Meanwhile, Wen Suxi examined the hard drive at home, only to find a peculiar image with a curse that instructed her to forward it to three friends to avoid disaster.
She discussed it with You You, who dismissed it as a silly prank, pointing out that the associated phone was old and the hard drive obsolete, questioning why anyone would go to such lengths. You You also noted that information about the film copy leak was common knowledge within the company, suggesting Wen Suxi might have simply offended someone.
Wen Suxi then recalled she received the mysterious text message after meeting Tang Mao, prompting You You to question why she had met with him. Separately, Lin Haoshu met with a former friend from a publishing house, hoping to get his new comic manuscript published. His friend, however, explained that the era of print media had passed and he had changed professions, which explained why Lin Haoshu had struggled to find a publisher.
The friend suggested Lin Haoshu sell the TV and movie rights to his comic, but Lin Haoshu was reluctant to let go of his work. While wandering, Lin Haoshu found a comic coffee shop hiring and applied for a job, which he successfully secured. His boss gave him a stack of vouchers to distribute near a local school, jokingly calling it a "cushy assignment" due to the many schoolgirls. To his surprise, he realized it was Wang Xiaomi’s school.
Wang Xiaomi soon spotted him and excitedly ran over, teasing him about finally having a job near her school. Lin Haoshu, slightly embarrassed, explained he was just temporarily helping a friend. Wang Xiaomi, however, praised him for earning a living with his own hands. Later, Tang Mao returned home to find Cai Shumeng preparing a lavish dinner. Furious, he ordered her to leave.
Cai Shumeng retorted, asking if he thought she would be with him only because he couldn’t have Wen Suxi, and accused him of venting his anger on her, asserting that she was the only one who cared for him. After some heated words, Tang Mao calmed down. He complimented Wen Suxi's intelligence and stated that he and Cai Shumeng were both businesspeople.
He then apologized for his earlier outburst and asked Cai Shumeng to do him a favor: to help Wen Suxi, explaining that there were some things he could not do himself. Cai Shumeng was initially hesitant, stating she no longer wanted to meddle in his affairs concerning Wen Suxi, but ultimately agreed. While Wen Suxi was editing a movie, representatives from Yaoshi Company suddenly arrived to discuss cooperation.
You You was suspicious, noting Yaoshi’s sudden interest in their small project after avoiding them since the copy leak. Wen Suxi, however, viewed it as a great opportunity, believing Yaoshi’s investment would boost their project’s standing. She accepted their invitation to meet at Jingzhou Film Studio for an overnight stay and a tour, asking You You to accompany her.
You You, however, managed to excuse herself by claiming she had plans with local friends, leaving Wen Suxi and Chi Yu to spend the evening alone. This entire setup was part of Tang Mao’s elaborate plan, orchestrated through Cai Shumeng. He had arranged the meeting, confident that Wen Suxi would attend for the "free lunch" and, more importantly, that Chi Yu would follow her. Tang Mao then instructed Jiang Yu to "make their move as soon as Wen Suxi leaves."
Indeed, when Wen Suxi prepared for her business trip, Chi Yu confronted her, demanding to know where she was going. Wen Suxi pointed out that she didn’t need to report her every move to him. Chi Yu, however, declared he would follow her no matter what, emphasizing her safety was his priority. Wen Suxi teased him about his inconsistency, noting his previous reluctance to see her and his current clingy behavior.
Upon arriving at Jingzhou Film Studio, You You departed to meet her friends, leaving Wen Suxi and Chi Yu to have dinner together. Wen Suxi ordered a combo for herself, while Chi Yu only requested a glass of water. Wen Suxi clarified that the cod in the combo was for her as he doesn't eat much. (Earlier, Wen Suxi had mentioned to Tang Mao that Chi Yu rarely eats and reacts badly to ginkgo.
) During dinner, as they discussed their evening plans, Chi Yu suddenly began to feel extremely unwell. Wen Suxi rushed him back to their hotel room, realizing he had a high fever, and hurried out to buy medicine. Unbeknownst to them, Jiang Yu had discreetly added ginkgo water to Chi Yu’s drink at Tang Mao’s instruction, remarking that despite any superpowers, Chi Yu was still vulnerable.
As Wen Suxi left, Jiang Yu, acting on Tang Mao's command, entered Chi Yu's room to attack him. Chi Yu managed to escape, but Jiang Yu seized his phone, preventing him from contacting Wen Suxi. Back home, Lin Haoshu returned from his shift to find Wen Suxi’s apartment door ajar and the inside ransacked. He then discovered Chi Yu’s place had also been broken into.
Lin Haoshu immediately called Wen Suxi, who, upon hearing the news, urged him to call the police. The police investigation revealed nothing had been stolen, leaving Lin Haoshu perplexed. The "robbery" was, in fact, orchestrated by Tang Mao as part of his larger scheme. Meanwhile, on her way to get medicine for Chi Yu, Wen Suxi was called by the Yaoshi representatives and taken to meet Mr. Wang at his private club.
She tried to politely decline, stating she needed to care for her sick colleague, and suggested meeting during working hours. However, the employee insisted, explaining Mr. Wang had specifically ordered her presence that night. When Mr. Wang, introduced as Wang Shan, finally appeared, he offered a few flattering words about Wen Suxi’s resilience in the face of adversity, calling her a "Superwoman."
Wen Suxi tried again to explain her need to leave quickly, but Mr. Wang soon excused himself to attend to other "important guests," leaving her stranded. She realized she should have found an excuse to leave earlier. Adding to her predicament, the club had no phone signal, making it impossible for her to contact Chi Yu. Worried, Chi Yu frantically searched for her in the streets.
As he navigated a narrow alley, a car suddenly appeared, trapping him in a dead end. Tang Mao emerged from the vehicle, staring down at the suffering Chi Yu and asking, "Where can you run now?"
