However, the man saw through their act, stopping them from leaving and ordering his bodyguards to corner them.
As they attempted to escape, Li Jinyu questioned why Ye Meng was there dressed like that, prompting her to explain her strong interest in the man's ring, which belonged to her mother, and the suspicion that his car was stolen or smuggled. They were cornered again, and Li Jinyu stepped forward to shield Ye Meng, engaging in a physical confrontation with the man's subordinates. Just as the situation escalated, Cheng Kairan arrived with the police, whom Ye Meng had called.
Officer Chen, familiar with Ye Meng, playfully chided her for causing trouble upon her return to Ningseui. He then informed them that the man, referred to as Fatty, was indeed suspicious. The truth of the mistaken identity weighed heavily on Cheng Kairan, who, after leaving, stood alone outside Fang Ya’en's home, watching her through a window. Despite his newfound understanding and the realization that she was the one he had truly admired, he lacked the courage to go upstairs.
