Wuyan's mom made several urgent phone calls pressuring her daughter to return to their hometown to teach. Upon realizing that Wuyan was firmly refusing, she changed tactics and started calling Cheng Yin for updates. Cheng Yin was also annoyed and urged Wuyan to tell her family about the relationship as soon as possible. After yet another call from her mother, Wuyan finally revealed she was in a relationship. Her mother immediately asked several questions about the man.
When she found out he had a visual impairment, grew up in an orphanage, and had an unknown family background, she booked a flight without hesitation, saying she would stay for a few days. When Wuyan’s mom arrived at her rental apartment, she began packing Wuyan’s belongings, demanding that she return home with her. Wuyan had originally hoped her mother could meet Su Nianqin, but her mother had no such intention.
She told Wuyan that both she and her father disapproved of the relationship, believing Wuyan was still too young and had never experienced real hardships in life. She thought Wuyan was simply blinded by love, and insisted that love shouldn't be impulsive—it should be based on security and responsibility. Wuyan disagreed with her mother, and the two got into a conflict. Yu Xiaolu picked up a woman from the airport. They drove together to Su Nianqin’s home.
Xiaolu opened the door while the woman sat in the car, gazing at Nianqin from afar. After learning that Wuyan might bring her mother to meet him, Xiaolu went out of her way to buy groceries and cooked a big meal. However, they waited until 9 p. m. , and no one came. The next day, after sending off her angry mom, Wuyan went to Su Nianqin’s house. She happened to overhear him and Xiaolu arguing about his father.
Xiaolu left in a huff and told Wuyan before leaving that the previous day had been Su Nianqin’s birthday. To make up for the missed birthday, Wuyan took him to a noodle shop and bought him a bowl of longevity noodles. The woman who had looked at Su Nianqin from the car returned home and scolded Su’s father for getting mad at Su Nianqin when he was just a child, which led to him being unwilling to come home now.
After returning home, Wuyan’s mother told her father everything. Her father got so worked up that he had a brain hemorrhage. He was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU. Her mother did not tell Wuyan about any of this. Su Nianqin had a nightmare and began playing the piano again.
He told Wuyan that it was his mother who had made him start practicing piano from a young age, but she passed away on one of his childhood birthdays. He believed his mother’s life had been full of suffering from the moment she gave birth to a child with an eye condition. Wuyan officially moved in with Su Nianqin under the pretense of taking care of him.
But she didn’t even know how to cook and ended up burning her hand while trying. Su Nianqin gently broke off a piece of aloe to help soothe her burn. Wuyan wanted to buy a suitable watch for Su Nianqin. While picking it out, she happened to be spotted by Nie Xi, who suddenly became unusually friendly and promised to keep her secret.
After Su Nianqin put on the watch Wuyan picked out, she told him that his time had started anew, and he should live well, take good care of himself, and work on his temper—only then could they be together forever. Su Nianqin commented that her words were embarrassingly cheesy. Wuyan discovered a photo in Su Nianqin’s home that looked like a family portrait. But he had no idea about it. Upon hearing Wuyan describe it, he became furious.
It turned out the photo was taken after his father remarried, and he deeply disliked everyone in the photo except for Xiaolu. Xiaolu had hidden the truth, telling him it was just a decorative picture and placed it openly in the house.
