The Journey of Chongzi Episode 5 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
As the immortal lords reacted with varied expressions, some barely suppressing laughter, Zhuo Hao swiftly realized that Chong Zi was the one who had pranked him. Chong Zi burst into laughter, further infuriating Zhuo Hao, whose face turned red then pale with shame. Zhuo Yao, his father, observed his son's apparent affection for the young girl and considered arranging a marriage between them. Chong Zi unhesitatingly refused the proposal.
Luo Yinfan respected his disciple's decision, but Zhuo Hao was displeased, arguing that Luo Yinfan had never taught Chong Zi any magical skills, indicating a lack of regard for her. He suggested it would be better for her to marry into Qinghua Palace instead. Angered by Zhuo Hao's disrespect, Zhuo Yao was about to discipline his son when a clear, melodious voice intervened, subtly deflecting the confrontation for Luo Yinfan.
Everyone turned to see a graceful immortal lady with brows like spring willows and eyes like autumn water, exuding a gentle and serene aura. Listening to her converse with Zhuo Yao and the others, Chong Zi learned she was Zhuo Yao's sister, Yunji. Yunji noticed Chong Zi by Luo Yinfan's side and personally presented her with a welcome gift, a Condensation Pill she had originally prepared for Luo Yinfan.
After the pleasantries, the discussion turned to using Gong Keran as bait to capture Chu Bufu. Chong Zi voiced her objection, comparing their plan to mortal hunters who sew shut the eyes of female birds to lure male birds to their capture. She found the immortals' method cruel and no different from the uneducated villagers of the mortal world. Luo Yinfan agreed with Chong Zi's perspective, and the two departed early, disregarding the other immortals' opinions.
Yunji quickly followed Luo Yinfan, hoping to speak with him privately. Chong Zi returned to her room alone, feeling a strange sadness despite her admiration for the beautiful, healing immortal. She sensed Yunji's deep affection for her master and was troubled by the thought of her possibly becoming her future stepmother. Meanwhile, Yunji subtly expressed her love to Luo Yinfan, who gently advised her to release her attachments to discover a wider world.
He commended her recent dedication to alchemy and using her skills to save lives, noting that her progress in this field compensated for her abandoned cultivation. Yunji understood his meaning and, with a hint of disappointment, prepared to leave. As she did, she encountered Ting Xue, who was bringing tea. Luo Yinfan introduced Ting Xue as a girl he had saved and suggested Yunji take her as a disciple to teach her medicine.
Ting Xue, expressing her humble origins and eagerness, readily agreed. Separately, Zhuo Hao, still annoyed by Chong Zi's prank, mused that marrying her would allow him to assert his authority. His father, Zhuo Yao, approached him, chiding him for being outwitted by a girl but also expressing satisfaction that someone could finally rein in his "lawless" son.
Zhuo Yao also informed him that something important would happen the next day and that he was to stay in his room with Chong Zi and not cause trouble. Later, when Luo Yinfan returned, Chong Zi eagerly questioned him about marrying Yunji. Relieved by his firm denial, she dropped her worries.
Luo Yinfan clarified that he considered Yunji only a friend and reassured her about her fears of being married away, then ordered her to stay in her room during the important event. Back in Luo Yinfan's chambers, Ting Xue attempted to seduce him, offering to serve him in any way and claiming she could surpass Chong Zi. Luo Yinfan firmly rejected her, emphasizing that Chong Zi was his only disciple and sending Ting Xue away.
He told Ting Xue that she was not even close to Chong Zi. Humiliated and angry, Ting Xue harbored a silent resentment towards Chong Zi, vowing to become more powerful than her. Meanwhile, Chu Bufu secretly communicated with Gong Keran, who was imprisoned in Qinghua Palace. To protect him from the trap set by the immortals, Gong Keran vehemently urged him to leave, insisting their relationship was over.
Although she spoke harshly, she knew Chu Bufu's descent into demonhood was forced by circumstances, and with her father dead, she had no place among the immortal sects. Ignoring her pleas, Chu Bufu single-handedly broke into Qinghua Palace to rescue her, falling directly into the immortals' trap. Luo Yinfan confronted Chu Bufu, ordering him to return, but Chu Bufu fled with Gong Keran.
At the same time, Chong Zi, who had been silenced and confined to her room by Zhuo Hao's playful spell, overheard Chu Bufu and Gong Keran's conversation. Gong Keran angrily rebuked Chu Bufu for becoming a demon, telling him to die if he truly wanted to save her. When Chu Bufu moved to self-harm, Gong Keran immediately stopped him, declaring that if he were to die, it would be by her hand, revealing her true unwillingness to see him harmed.
Chu Bufu, sensing Chong Zi's presence in the room, unleashed a wave of power, severely injuring her. Luo Yinfan arrived in time, shielding Chong Zi and single-handedly fighting against Chu Bufu and Gong Keran. Taking advantage of the distraction, the Demon King Wang Yue appeared and rescued Chu Bufu and Gong Keran. Luo Yinfan, having placed a protective spell on Chong Zi, sensed her danger and rushed to her aid, pulling her back from the brink of death.
However, Chong Zi's demonic energy was too strong, and her primordial spirit was damaged. Yunji provided a prescription, which included the Red Moon Glossy Ganoderma, an immortal herb found only on Nanhua Mountain. Luo Yinfan swiftly carried Chong Zi back to Chonghua Palace. Due to the urgency of the situation, he disregarded proper conduct and administered breath to her mouth-to-mouth to stabilize her. The next day, Chong Zi awoke, vaguely recalling the events of the previous night.
Upon realizing it wasn't a dream, a wave of girlish shyness washed over her. A lively and straightforward alchemy disciple, Yan Zhenzhu, had been sent by Luo Yinfan to care for Chong Zi. They quickly became good friends, finding common ground within half a day. Yan Zhenzhu, speaking without inhibition, was surprised to learn that Chong Zi had been Luo Yinfan's disciple for three years without learning any magical skills or possessing a magic weapon.
Just then, Sima Miaoyuan appeared, taunting Chong Zi and speaking disparagingly of Luo Yinfan. Enraged, Chong Zi snatched Sima Miaoyuan's sword and pointed it at her, warning her not to speak ill of her master again. Sima Miaoyuan quickly apologized. Witnessing Chong Zi's fierce loyalty, Luo Yinfan was deeply pleased. He decided to take her to choose a magic weapon. Chong Zi marveled at the dazzling array of ornate artifacts but felt overwhelmed, asking her master to choose for her.
Luo Yinfan explained that any suitable object could be a magic weapon and that a good magic weapon would develop a connection with its master. He then presented her with a silver staff forged from a celestial dark iron he had acquired two hundred years prior, naming it "Starlight." He hoped she would embody its spirit of inner righteousness, shining like the stars to illuminate the world and care for all beings. He instructed her to be restrained and non-aggressive, to protect herself, and to avoid harming others. Chong Zi understood and agreed to learn self-defense skills with her new staff.
