Legally Romance Episode 1 Recap
> Legally Romance Recap
Qian Wei is a recent graduate and intern legal assistant. She was being interviewed by reporters, but unexpectedly her boss Lu Xun returned. Qian Wei quickly got up to make space for her boss Lu Xun. It turned out the reporter was supposed to interview Lu Xun, not Qian Wei. Qian Wei had been pretending to be Lu Xun while he was away to accept the interview, but since Lu Xun returned, Qian Wei had to make way.
Unexpectedly, the reporters were very demanding and asked Qian Wei to help hold the microphones for them. Although Qian Wei thought of herself as a great lawyer, her boss exposed her directly, saying she was just a legal assistant. Reluctantly, Qian Wei had to follow the reporters' request and help them hold the microphones to complete the interview recording. The story goes back to when they were in school. Originally, Qian Wei had won first place and received a scholarship.
Just as Qian Wei went on stage to receive the award, Lu Xun sent her down because he had won the special scholarship. This made Qian Wei lose a lot of face, so she vowed to surpass Lu Xun. However, up until now, she still hasn't been able to surpass Lu Xun and is still working as his assistant, with a salary that is just a fraction of his. This made Qian Wei extremely frustrated but also helpless.
At the law firm meeting, Lawyer Wu proposed a suggestion which Lu Xun very impolitely rejected. This made Lawyer Wu lose face and leave awkwardly. Afterwards, the boss also thought Lu Xun's suggestion was very good, but his way of speaking to people was too harsh, and he hoped he could change it later. However, Lu Xun arrogantly believed that he had never lost a lawsuit.
If they wanted him to change his attitude, he said they should wait until he lost a case. Lu Xun's arrogant tone left the boss with no options, after all, he was very capable. Lu Xun took on a lawsuit, so he took his assistant Qian Wei to the court to understand the situation. It turned out that the evidence Lu Xun's team submitted to the court had been swapped. This greatly surprised both Qian Wei and Lu Xun.
They had clearly kept their evidence securely, but they didn't know why it had been swapped. Originally, Qian Wei had applied to Lu Xun in advance for a day off, but Lu Xun blackmailed Qian Wei, saying that if she didn't go to get the Morris case documents, he would give it to someone else, and she wouldn't get any share of the future profit. He also told Qian Wei that her future taxi fares would be reimbursed.
Qian Wei originally didn't plan to go to work, but when she saw the generous conditions Lu Xun offered, she quickly took a taxi to get the case documents. Unexpectedly, she was stopped by the receptionist at the hotel because Qian Wei wasn't wearing formal attire; the hotel had a rule prohibiting entry without it. Just as Qian Wei was negotiating with the receptionist, her ex-boyfriend Li Chongwen happened to pass by.
Unexpectedly, he had enough influence to directly take Qian Wei inside. It turned out the hotel was hosting a cocktail party, and her ex-boyfriend Li Chongwen was an important guest there, and also related to the case Lu Xun and his team were handling. Therefore, Lu Xun was worried about Qian Wei going alone and went there himself. They were all former schoolmates, so they knew each other.
But Lu Xun also knew about the past relationship between Qian Wei and Li Chongwen, and now he was Qian Wei's boss. Therefore, there would be some hostility between the men even without a specific barrier, and a contest of male dominance existed between them. However, what made Lu Xun very awkward was that Li Chongwen turned out to be the Legal Director of Nuomei AES Company, the company they were facing in the lawsuit.
So, the head of Nuomei Company, Lan He, directly announced at the cocktail party that she hoped Morris Company would offer some compensation for an out-of-court settlement with AES. As soon as Lu Xun heard this, he went on stage and explained to the guests at the party that Nuomei Company had often copied other companies' games before, and he didn't expect them to now turn the tables.
But Lu Xun had a complete grasp of the entire case and would absolutely not settle with them. After speaking, Lu Xun left the party with Qian Wei. Li Chongwen was very angry about Lan He's actions. He felt she could operate in any way she wanted, but she shouldn't involve Qian Wei. Afterwards, Li Chongwen quickly chased after Qian Wei to explain, but Qian Wei berated him.
She realized all their previous evidence had been anticipated by the other side, and it turned out Li Chongwen was helping AES. But before, Li Chongwen had always said he wanted to be a good lawyer, yet now, for his career, he was going against his conscience to act as legal counsel for a company that copied others. Li Chongwen also had his reasons; he just wanted to make himself a successful person.
If he were like Qian Wei and only an assistant by now, it would make her very angry. Lu Xun couldn't stand listening anymore and told Li Chongwen to talk to his assistant another time. They had to go back to handle important business now, so he took Qian Wei and left. On the way back, Qian Wei was very sad, feeling that her ex-boyfriend had become so materialistic. She recalled all the past moments and cried terribly.
After Lu Xun sent Qian Wei home, he also gave her a pair of high heels. She had been stopped today precisely because she didn't have formal high heels. Lu Xun went to the boss, thinking that Lawyer Wu must have stolen the evidence from their safe before leaving the firm, which led to a case they were sure to win now being destined to lose.
Just then, Qian Wei walked in and told them that failing to properly keep the evidence was her responsibility, but she had not done anything against the law firm. So, she returned her work badge to the boss, hoping that Lu Xun would find a qualified assistant in the future. Qian Wei packed her belongings and left the law firm.
Although Lu Xun sincerely tried to make her stay, Qian Wei was determined to leave, and there was nothing he could do. After Qian Wei left the law firm, her dad went to comfort her, telling her that if she lost her job, she could find another, and everything could start over. Qian Wei felt she could talk to her dad openly about her feelings, but that was just an illusion; in the blink of an eye, her dad disappeared. ·
