Han Sen, accompanying Luo Chen to a bar, was taken aback when he saw photos of a woman named Nan Sheng displayed on the wall, as she bore an astonishing resemblance to Qiao Man. He privately reflected on Lin Heping's strong attachment to Qiao Man, now understanding why. Luo Chen confirmed the photos were of Nan Sheng from their university days and pointed out the striking similarity.

When Luo Chen's "girlfriend" Xiao Xi arrived, she introduced herself and explained that Nan Sheng was her best friend in college, and she had hung the photos because Luo Chen wanted to see them daily. Han Sen expressed discomfort with displaying photos of a deceased person in a public place. He then discreetly instructed Luo Chen to remove all the photos immediately and ensure no one saw them, emphasizing that their business cooperation depended on it.

He also sternly warned Luo Chen not to mistake anyone else for Nan Sheng before making a hasty departure. After Han Sen left, Xiao Xi excitedly confronted Luo Chen about Han Sen calling her his girlfriend, a label Luo Chen hadn't refuted. Overjoyed, she proclaimed that her long wait hadn't been in vain, even cutting off Luo Chen when he tried to clarify, believing it reflected his true feelings.

Xiao Xi revealed that she displayed Nan Sheng's photos because she deeply missed their innocent university days, lamenting how life becomes complicated with maturity. Luo Chen agreed, admitting that his experiences forced him to grow up despite his reluctance. Xiao Xi reaffirmed her unchanging feelings for him, expressing her desire for a family and his love. Luo Chen asked for more time, promising to try his best, to which Xiao Xi readily agreed.

Luo Chen then suggested they take down the photos to avoid upsetting Han Sen, and Xiao Xi consented. Meanwhile, Qiao Fang called Qiao Man downstairs and apologized for her previous behavior, which Qiao Man accepted. Qiao Man then brought up an old comment from Anthony in Barcelona about them not being blood-related, questioning if it was a joke.

Qiao Fang vehemently denied it, dismissing Anthony's words as ridiculous and warning Qiao Man not to mention it again, insisting they were blood-related. Qiao Fang then presented Qiao Man with a real estate sales contract, announcing she had paid a 30,000 RMB deposit for a house in Beijing and expected Qiao Man to share the cost. Qiao Man, who wished to return to Barcelona, stated she couldn't afford it and was serious about leaving.

Qiao Fang suspected Qiao Man's desire to leave was linked to Lin Heping, though Qiao Man denied it, and warned her not to sacrifice her life for a man. Qiao Fang then revealed her plan to borrow the down payment from Han Sen. Qiao Man was strongly against this, but Qiao Fang argued that Han Sen would eventually become family and that they needed a stable home in Beijing, refusing to ever return to Barcelona.

Feeling pressured, Qiao Man eventually conceded and agreed to stay in Beijing with Qiao Fang. Lin Heping gazed at a Lycoris Radiata necklace, his mind drifting back to a time when he had given a similar necklace to Nan Sheng. In that memory, Ah Li, seeing the necklace, remarked on its expense and Lin Heping’s generosity towards Nan Sheng, contrasting it with his usual frugality.

Nan Sheng, upon hearing this, insisted on returning the costly item to Lin Heping, much to his bewilderment. In the present, Ah Li saw the necklace in Lin Heping's hand and teased him, pointing out he had given Qiao Man the same necklace he’d given Nan Sheng, implying Qiao Man wouldn't want it either, and jokingly offering to take it.

Lin Heping, irritated, told Ah Li to mind her own business and move out, questioning how long she planned to stay. Ah Li explained she had rented out her own house to repay him, but Lin Heping dismissed the debt, reiterating his demand for her to leave. Ah Li accused him of hating her presence at home and defiantly stated she wouldn't move, even if he threw out her belongings.

She then suggested his current mood stemmed from his company losing the "Bewitching Charm" artwork to Han Sen, which had brought Yi Pin Media widespread recognition, but Lin Heping dismissed her theories, insisting she move out. Later that night, Lin Heping walked alone, reflecting on life and how Nan Sheng remained an indelible part of his story. His thoughts led to a flashback of his first business venture with Nan Sheng.

They had gone to the Feng Shang Art Processing Factory to pick up ten boxes of goods. Nan Sheng was concerned about the "quite old" items and the risk of being stuck with unsold inventory, but Lin Heping insisted they take them and figure out the sales later. On their way home, their three-wheeled cart suffered a flat tire, forcing Lin Heping to push both Nan Sheng and the heavy goods.

Nan Sheng worried that his mother, Aunt Lan, would disapprove of him doing business instead of studying, but Lin Heping was undeterred. A frantic Ah Li then rushed to Lin Heping, reporting that Tuo Zi and his gang had stolen all her stationery. Despite Nan Sheng's pleas for Lin Heping to avoid conflict and involve the police, he insisted on confronting the thugs to retrieve Ah Li's hard-earned goods.

Upon finding the gang, Lin Heping was provoked by Tuo Zi's vulgar comments, who accused Ah Li of being a mistress and insulted Lin Heping. A fight ensued, during which the thugs burned most of Ah Li's stationery, leaving her heartbroken. Lin Heping comforted her, promising they could earn it back.

Ah Li then took Lin Heping to her tiny 15-square-meter rented room, explaining she had sold her parents' house to fund Zhen Sheng's university education, a sacrifice Lin Heping understood. He fixed a broken light for her and later informed her about a batch of free goods Nan Sheng had helped them acquire, which they could sell to pay the factory.

Ah Li was relieved, seeing the benefits of Nan Sheng's university connections, but also lamented her own ruined reputation, having been falsely accused of being a mistress after relying on someone named Chen Yi Cheng. Lin Heping reassured her that their worth was not defined by others' judgment and that their hard work would eventually silence gossip. Nan Sheng later brought the ten boxes of goods home, where Lin Heping's mother, Aunt Lan, immediately confronted her.

Nan Sheng reluctantly revealed Lin Heping's involvement in business, helping Ah Li. Aunt Lan was furious, seeing it as a disgrace that her son had to work when she was willing to pay for his schooling. Nan Sheng tried to calm her, suggesting Lin Heping could return to his studies when he found motivation. Lin Heping's uncle arrived and defended Lin Heping, asserting that success didn't solely depend on academics.

Aunt Lan quickly silenced him, and Nan Sheng intervened, urging them to stop arguing and help unload the goods so she could leave for school. Aunt Lan continued to voice her disappointment with Lin Heping’s choices. At school, Xiao Xi and Luo Chen observed a new regulation: students must return to campus before 9 p. m. or face severe penalties.

Worried about Nan Sheng, who had gone home, Luo Chen obtained her number from a studio address book and called her while she was tutoring. He informed a startled Nan Sheng of the strict new curfew and the consequences for latecomers. Panicked, Nan Sheng asked for advice, and Luo Chen instructed her to bypass the main gate and meet him at the east wall.

Lin Heping returned home to find his uncle, who warned him to be quiet, as Aunt Lan had just gone to sleep after scolding Lin Heping for his lack of academic ambition. Lin Heping, however, was confident he would prove her wrong by successfully selling his goods. He tried calling Nan Sheng, but received no answer. Concerned, he called her dorm, where Xiao Xi confirmed Nan Sheng hadn't returned and expressed worry about the strict campus inspection.

Ignoring his uncle's advice, Lin Heping called Zhen Sheng, asking him to check on Nan Sheng, and then cycled rapidly towards the school. At the east wall, Luo Chen helped a nervous Nan Sheng climb over the fence into the campus. Despite her initial fear, she found the experience surprisingly fun. They were quickly spotted by security guards and fled.

As they walked away, Luo Chen probed Nan Sheng about her feelings, asking if she felt lonely and if she had an intimate friend she could confide in. He then offered his friendship and, noting her interest in drawing, proposed to help her gain permission to audit classes in his art department. Nan Sheng was overjoyed and sealed the promise with a pinky swear before they parted ways.

Zhen Sheng arrived on campus and witnessed Luo Chen and Nan Sheng walking together in the moonlight, which visibly angered him. Meanwhile, back in her dorm, Xiao Xi informed Nan Sheng that Lin Heping had called her multiple times, worried. Nan Sheng immediately called Lin Heping to reassure him she was safely back in her dorm, having "managed to sneak in."

Lin Heping expressed his relief, playfully suggesting he could have faked an illness to explain her late return and turn her into a hero. After their light-hearted conversation, Lin Heping told her to rest, and Nan Sheng offered to help him sell his goods, an offer he declined, assuring her he could handle it himself. They then said good night. Zhen Sheng confronted Luo Chen, warning him to stay away from Nan Sheng because she had a boyfriend.

Luo Chen scoffed, disparaging Lin Heping as "vulgar," a truant who associated with delinquents and was unworthy of Nan Sheng. Zhen Sheng retorted that Nan Sheng and Lin Heping shared a long-standing, unbreakable relationship. When Luo Chen questioned the depth of Nan Sheng's feelings for Lin Heping, Zhen Sheng warned him not to interfere, threatening to intervene as their friend.

Luo Chen further provoked Zhen Sheng by insulting him, questioning what benefits Lin Heping offered him and calling Zhen Sheng a "dog." This exchange escalated into a near physical fight, with Luo Chen adding a final taunt about Zhen Sheng being a "self-paying student," before roommates intervened to separate them. Still fuming from the confrontation, Zhen Sheng returned home and told Ah Li he wanted to drop out of school.

He complained about the humiliation of being a "self-paying student" in the dorms, declaring he couldn't take it anymore. Ah Li scolded him, reminding him that he was a self-paying student because he had failed his exams and that there was no shame in it as long as he passed. Zhen Sheng retorted that she had forced him to attend school and was using their parents to manipulate him, defiantly declaring he didn't want her as his sister.

Infuriated, Ah Li slapped him. Shocked and hurt, Zhen Sheng protested the slap and stormed out of the house. Xiao Xi rushed to Nan Sheng, who was already the subject of campus gossip. Xiao Xi explained that rumors were circulating about Nan Sheng "getting intimate with a guy" at the school wall last night.

Nan Sheng was confused until Xiao Xi revealed that security guards, though they hadn't caught anyone in the act, found Nan Sheng's student ID and had exaggerated the story to the teachers. The lecturer was now looking for her. Indignant, Nan Sheng questioned how a lost student ID could lead to such a serious accusation. Xiao Xi agreed it was a misunderstanding and urged her to go to the Academic Affairs Office immediately to clarify the situation before it worsened. Nan Sheng quickly rushed to the office.
