Ji Yanxin, aware of his sleepwalking, tries to piece together his episodes from various clues. He receives a call from a friend confirming that Pei Siqi's name is absent from Rongpin's new recruitment list. At Rongpin, Pei Siqi confronts the chief content designer, Lu Qingwu, and staunchly refuses to apologize for their past conflict. Lu Qingwu warns him that dignity doesn't pay the bills, but Siqi retorts that he isn't used to being someone's "dog" and walks out.
Having lost a bet with his brother, Siqi reluctantly agrees to work at Ji Yanxin's firm, resigning himself to drinking bitter Americano. Just before getting into Ji Yanxin's car, he receives an exhilarating call from Qi Nian. Qi Nian informs Siqi that their new comic, "Dress for the Beauty," has surpassed "Flower & Romance" to claim the top spot in views on its first day. This reignites Siqi's hope for a career in comics.
Ji Yanxin, having forced Siqi into the car, grabs the phone. He sternly questions Qi Nian's relationship with his brother and warns her not to give him false hope, but she playfully promises to be "responsible" for Siqi before the signal cuts out. After the call, Ji Yanxin sees that he has saved Qi Nian's contact as "My Crush." Despite his earlier reservations, Ji Yanxin allows Siqi to pursue his dream.
At the Mancao Culture studio, a colleague gives Siqi the contract for "Dress for the Beauty," where he is surprisingly listed as a co-creator with Qi Nian. When asked if confronting Lu Qingwu for the manga "Thither Cloud" was worth it, Siqi confirms it was. The colleague then reveals that Qi Nian has gone to find her "hero," Mr. J—the prototype for the manga's male lead, who is also her current boss.
Siqi is stunned, as he believed the story was about Qi Nian's friend, not her own life. Later, Qi Nian is organizing files at Ji Yanxin's home when his younger brother, Ji Qiu, calls, chiding her for not having been home in a week. After the call, she finds Ji Yanxin taking sleeping pills and realizes he knows about his sleepwalking. She helps him to his bed, but he unexpectedly leans in and kisses her.
Pushing him away, she's confronted by a semi-conscious Ji Yanxin, who asks if she knows about his condition. Panicked, Qi Nian denies it and flees. As she runs out, a now fully awake Ji Yanxin sees Pei Siqi affectionately putting a helmet on her before they ride off on an e-bike. Sensing Qi Nian's distress, Siqi takes her to the riverside.
She confides in him about the kiss, fearing how the proud Ji Yanxin will react to her seeing his vulnerability. To cheer her up, Siqi buys a vendor's entire stock of balloons, telling her they are beautiful in the dark, just as her private thoughts are "cute" to those who understand. Qi Nian admits her boss is the prototype for the manga's male lead, which she jokingly labels "Stockholm Syndrome."
Their ride home is complicated when the e-bike's brakes fail, forcing them to ride around until the battery dies. Meanwhile, Ji Yanxin drives to their apartment building and sees them enter together. A gossiping security guard approaches him, remarking on the "sweet couple" who live on the same floor and even turn their lights off at the same time.
The guard then quotes a popular forum post—"What to do when you see your younger brother and his girlfriend getting a room?" —further infuriating the jealous Ji Yanxin. Returning to his office, Ji Yanxin emails Qi Nian a large workload, demanding she return within thirty minutes. Qi Nian rushes back, arriving just in time. Fearing his reaction, she lies that the oversized shirt she's wearing, which is actually Siqi's, was an online purchase that was too big.
Ji Yanxin, suppressing his jealousy, orders her to sharpen thirty pencils by hand. He then interrogates her about her night out. Qi Nian explains she was celebrating with her "roommate," clarifying they just share an apartment. Ji Yanxin is visibly relieved, but his jealousy flares up again when she cheerfully describes her fun e-bike adventure with Siqi.
The next morning, a frustrated Siqi repeatedly calls Ji Yanxin's company to complain about his boss's inhumanity for making Qi Nian work all night. Simultaneously, Ji Yanxin shows up at Qi Nian's building with an e-bike, demanding she give him a ride to work "just like last night." When they discover the battery is dead, he makes her pedal him to the office as punishment. They arrive to the astonished stares of his employees, just as the front desk gets another call from "Mr. Pei Junior," complaining about the boss.
