Be My Princess Episode 6 Recap
> Be My Princess Recap
The recap begins with a dreamlike scene by a tranquil body of water, where a woman resembling Ming Wei, identified as Princess Ming Hua, plays a zither in an ancient pavilion. She tells Mu Tingzhou that she has been waiting for him and recalls his promise to love and protect her. Expressing sorrow that he let her die alone, she hopes for a future life where he will not fail her again.
Mu Tingzhou, on the brink of waking, promises never to let her down in the next life, before losing consciousness. Back in reality, as Mu Tingzhou lay in a coma, fragmented scenes from the play "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" flashed through his mind, particularly a moment where Princess Ming Hua asked if he would protect her always. News of Mu Tingzhou's car accident quickly spread, becoming a top trending topic. Ming Wei, deeply worried, immediately contacted Xiao Zhao for updates.
Her anxiety kept her awake, glued to her computer, desperately awaiting any news. She blamed herself for refusing to take his car, wondering if things would have been different had she been with him. Xiao Zhao advised her against posting anything on social media, urging her to wait for official statements. At the hospital, Mu Tingzhou's family, including his parents, anxiously awaited news. A doctor explained the severe situation, asking them to be mentally prepared.
Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou awoke, startling everyone by wildly swinging an IV pole, his eyes filled with a murderous glare. He demanded to know who had captured him. Addressing his parents, he accused them of poisoning him and pretending to be his relatives to disarm him, even alleging they had cut his hair, violating filial piety. Xiao Zhao, recognizing that Mu Tingzhou believed himself to be Grand Tutor Mu from the drama, swiftly intervened.
He addressed Mu Tingzhou as "Grand Tutor," gently urging him to calm down and put down the pole, assuring him they meant no harm and that he was very weak. After a tranquilizer was administered, doctors from neurology and neurosurgery were called for a consultation. Upon receiving Xiao Zhao's message, Ming Wei rushed to the hospital, her heart pounding with fear. She cautiously entered the room but found it empty.
Mu Tingzhou suddenly emerged from the bathroom, and Ming Wei sighed in relief, seeing he was unharmed. To her astonishment, he knelt before her, addressing her as "Your Highness." Ming Wei was utterly bewildered, unsure if he was acting, playing a trick, or truly impaired. She tried to explain that he was not the Grand Tutor and she was not a princess, but merely an actress playing the role.
Mu Tingzhou, however, was convinced she had been poisoned, causing her to forget their past. He firmly maintained that he was Grand Tutor Mu Yun and insisted she call him "Grand Tutor." He asserted that he had read the script for "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" and it only solidified his belief in his identity, dismissing the love plot as "ridiculous and unfounded" given their status disparity and his imperial duties.
He even believed the script was a ploy to sow discord in the Ning Dynasty. Frustrated, Ming Wei eventually decided to play along with his delusion to avoid further complications. He revealed that he believed she was the only one he could trust in this new, strange world, and theorized they had been brought to this "future" by some unseen power or a special poison causing illusions.
Mu Tingzhou's mother, distraught, pleaded with Ming Wei to continue playing the princess, hoping she could gently guide him through psychological therapy. Ming Wei felt the burden of this task was immense and doubted her ability to pull him back to reality. Her friend Shen Su comforted her, affirming that in this situation, there was nothing they could do, and her initial hesitation was understandable. Ming Wei admitted to feeling sad and guilty about her inability to help.
Later, Mu Tingzhou refused to eat, exasperating Xiao Zhao. Noticing a scar on Mu Tingzhou's hand, Xiao Zhao tried to use it to convince him that he wasn't Mu Yun, as the character had no such injury in the script. Mu Tingzhou, however, smoothly concocted a detailed story about sustaining the scar from his mother's tailoring scissors during his impoverished youth.
Xiao Zhao, recognizing his old friend’s familiar scar, recalled their childhood when Mu Tingzhou had shielded him from a bully's dagger, saving his eye and cementing their friendship. He told Mu Tingzhou that the scar was a testament to their bond. Determined to persuade Ming Wei, Xiao Zhao presented her with Mu Tingzhou's personal notebook, filled with detailed notes on her every performance. Ming Wei was deeply moved, realizing the extent of Mu Tingzhou's silent care for her.
Xiao Zhao explained that Mu Tingzhou's seemingly cold demeanor hid a deep affection, and that his current delusion might stem from his inability to accept the princess's tragic suicide in the drama, a profound trauma for him. He suggested that playing along, even if it meant Mu Tingzhou remained the Grand Tutor indefinitely, was better than him withdrawing completely. After much contemplation, Ming Wei, holding the precious notebook, decided to agree to help.
The following day, upon Mu Tingzhou's discharge, Xiao Zhao brought him directly to Ming Wei's apartment. At Ming Wei's apartment, Mu Tingzhou knelt again, addressing her as "Your Highness." He expressed concern that a princess was confined to such a small dwelling. Noticing Ming Qiao, Ming Wei's younger sister, he mistook her for a maid and questioned her presence and intentions. Ming Wei tried to explain that in modern society, everyone was equal and there were no maids.
Mu Tingzhou, however, was appalled at the idea of a princess fending for herself, believing she had to "tailor her own clothes and chop firewood." He felt immense guilt for her perceived hardship and insisted that he should personally attend to her needs, dismissing Xiao Zhao's offer of a nanny.
