Be My Princess Episode 19 Recap
> Be My Princess Recap
At a bridge, Mu Yun and the Princess watched a beautiful fireworks display. Mu Yun remarked that it was the most beautiful he had ever seen, though he recalled an even grander ceremony three years prior upon his arrival in the capital. He remembered being told it was a birthday gift from the Emperor to Princess Ming Hua. He then recalled the Princess's sentiment that the person one shares the moment with is more important than the fireworks themselves.
Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei exchanged New Year wishes over the phone. Though their conversation was formally polite, their deep affection was evident. Mu Tingzhou assured Ming Wei that he was well as long as she was, and that she remained his only concern regardless of their situation. Ming Wei, in turn, urged him to take care of himself and confide in Xiao Zhao if he was troubled.
In a separate call, Ming Qiao wished Xiao Zhao a Happy New Year, hoping for his success in his career and love life. Uncharacteristically insecure, Xiao Zhao questioned if he was worthy of her, admitting he had never felt so unsure or unable to be cool. Ming Qiao noted that this was what it truly felt like to like someone. Later that evening, Xu Lin arrived at the Mu family home to visit Mu Tingzhou.
When she found him, he told her that the Mu Tingzhou she was looking for was not there. Adapting to his persona, Xu Lin addressed him as the Grand Tutor and asked if the fireworks in the Ning Dynasty were as beautiful. Mu Tingzhou described the magnificent palace fireworks, recalling how the young Princess Ming Hua was always the happiest during those displays.
Xu Lin expressed her contentment in watching the fireworks with him and confessed her envy for Ming Wei, who had received a true and genuine love—something she also longed for. Upon arriving at her home, Ming Wei was ambushed by reporters questioning her about Mu Tingzhou's health and their professional collaborations. Her father, angered by the intrusion, declared that his famous and talented daughter did not need to rely on anyone else for opportunities.
Ming Wei calmed him, stating her renewed determination to move past recent sorrows and focus on her next role. She promised her pleased father and Ming Qiao that she would aim to win the Grand Slam Best Actress award. For several days, Mu Tingzhou secluded himself in his room, meticulously carving a piece of wood. Lacking the courage to deliver the finished sculpture himself, he entrusted Auntie Zhao with the task.
Meanwhile, Ming Wei photographed a blooming flower in her home but hesitated to share her joy with Mu Tingzhou, questioning the point of it. Just then, Auntie Zhao arrived with the gift, revealing Mu Tingzhou's sleepless and secluded state, and the new injuries on his hands from his constant work. She pleaded with Ming Wei to give him another chance, emphasizing his profound care for her.
Ming Wei opened the box to find a detailed wooden carving of the Grand Tutor, Mu Yun, kneeling. With it was a note declaring his unwavering commitment: "Today I, Mu Yun, pledge to Your Highness that no matter what happens, my devotion to you will never change." Overcome with emotion, Ming Wei went to the Mu family home and found a frail-looking Mu Tingzhou in his bed.
When Mu Tingzhou awoke to find Ming Wei by his side, he was filled with relief and emotion. Fearing she was a dream, he tearfully reached out to hold her hand tightly. Confirming she was real, he pulled her into a fierce embrace, confessing how he had missed her. Ming Wei comforted him, assuring him it was not a dream. She declared her decision to seize the present rather than sacrifice it for an unknown future.
As she helped him groom, they shared a look of deep understanding, resolving to take a chance on their relationship. Mu Tingzhou shared that he once dreamt Ming Wei hated him, a memory that now made sense. He believed his purpose in this world was to atone for past regrets. He then formally proposed, kneeling and asking Ming Wei to marry him, even if he couldn't give her a palace in this life. Ming Wei softly accepted.
At Ming Qiao's yoga studio, a new student named Lu arrived—the same woman Ming Qiao had seen with Xiao Zhao. During a difficult pose, Lu pretended to struggle and then fell, falsely accusing Ming Qiao of pushing her. Xiao Zhao immediately entered, sternly told Ming Qiao to be silent, and escorted the feigning Lu out. Outside, Xiao Zhao thanked Lu for helping him with the act, admitting he owed her a favor.
Realizing Xiao Zhao's deliberate manipulation, an indignant Ming Qiao went to a bar and ordered the strongest liquor. The man who had previously flirted with her approached, complimenting her. As Ming Qiao was on the phone with her mother, vaguely mentioning she might bring someone home soon, Xiao Zhao appeared and tried to stop her from drinking more. Ming Qiao confronted him, calling him a jerk and accusing him of intentionally hurting her.
She tearfully questioned why he, who advised Mu Tingzhou to live in the moment, refused to give their own relationship a chance. Acknowledging his flaws, Xiao Zhao wordlessly lifted her and carried her from the bar.
