The intersection of the hero and heroine’s minds is constantly interspersed in ancient and modern times, and their daily life is also extraordinarily “confusing”:

Mu Tingzhou will call the Ming Wei every day to greet her: “I, Mu Yun, pay my respects to the princess”, and will also wear a straight suit and kneel in front of everyone to pay respects to Ming Wei.

Be My Princess Recap

Episode 1 Recap

In a dream-like sequence, a man named Mu Tingzhou walks on water, approaching a pavilion where a woman sits, playing a Chinese zither. Curtains gently sway, obscuring her face, yet revealing her graceful silhouette. The woman, who calls herself Ming Hua, tells the Grand Tutor that she has been waiting for him for a long time. Mu Tingzhou asks if she is Princess Ming Hua and why he is there.

Ming Hua replies that his obsession brought him to her and that her true face will be revealed when she appears before him in person. Mu Tingzhou longs to see her clearly, but he feels himself fading away. Mu Tingzhou, a renowned Best Actor, awakens from his dream, the image of Princess Ming Hua still vivid in his mind.

As he heads out, he thinks he sees the woman from his dream, and it is later confirmed when she arrives at his business meeting. The woman is Ming Wei, a part-time Hanfu model and interpreter. At the meeting with a VIP named Orlando, Ming Wei introduces herself as the interpreter. Mu Tingzhou's agent, Xiao Zhao, compliments her unique appearance. To everyone's surprise, Mu Tingzhou converses fluently in Italian with Orlando.

After Orlando excuses himself to take a call, Ming Wei, left alone with the actor, awkwardly asks for an autograph. He cryptically tells her she is "the fourth one," a reference to his self-imposed limit of three autographs per day, and she retreats to her seat. While on her phone, Ming Wei is shocked to see that her boyfriend, Cheng Yao, is in the same restaurant.

Xiao Zhao spots Cheng Yao and brings him over to introduce him to Mu Tingzhou as Mr. Cheng from Zhenghua Group. Cheng Yao is accompanied by Wang Yingying, the female lead of a popular TV series. After Mu Tingzhou states he hasn't seen the show, Wang Yingying sarcastically confronts Ming Wei, insinuating that a man of Cheng Yao's status would never marry someone like her and mockingly wishes them happiness.

Outwardly composed, Ming Wei is internally seething, having realized Cheng Yao's infidelity. When she tries to leave, Cheng Yao grabs her arm, but she firmly tells him their relationship is over, expressing relief at discovering his deception early. Observing the confrontation, Mu Tingzhou finds Ming Wei interesting. Outside, he finds a distraught Ming Wei and, to his agent's surprise, offers to take a photo with her.

After the picture is taken, a tearful Ming Wei complains that it's an ugly photo and asks for a retake, but Xiao Zhao assures her it can be photoshopped, warning her not to post it on social media. Upon returning home, Ming Wei finds Cheng Yao waiting for her. He claims his dinner with Wang Yingying was a "breakup meal" and pleads for forgiveness.

Ming Wei dismisses his excuses, pointing to their intimate behavior as proof of his betrayal, and insists on a clean break. As Cheng Yao persists, Ming Wei's younger sister, Ming Qiao, intervenes, kicking him and warning the "cheating scumbag" to stay away. She reminds Ming Wei that their family runs a martial arts school and that she should be more assertive. Later, Ming Wei excitedly tells Ming Qiao that she met Mu Tingzhou.

Ming Qiao joins Ming Wei as she researches ancient texts for a project. Ming Wei explains that understanding the daily lives and customs of ordinary people is crucial for truly embodying a character beyond a mere historical outline. Their conversation turns to Mu Tingzhou, with Ming Qiao lamenting the missed opportunity for a valuable autograph. Soon after, Ming Wei receives a private message from Shen Su of Dongying Group, inviting her to audition for a costume drama.

Shen Su explains that Ming Wei's Hanfu photos on social media suggest her image and temperament align perfectly with a character. Ming Qiao is ecstatic, recalling that the production Mu Tingzhou was involved with was looking for a new female lead after the original actress became pregnant. At the audition, Ming Wei runs into Wang Yingying, who mockingly questions her acting ability. Undeterred, Ming Wei prepares for her turn.

Shen Su, noting Ming Wei’s background in playing the Chinese zither, asks her to perform a scene with the instrument. As Ming Wei skillfully plays, Mu Tingzhou is drawn by the music. Watching her, he is convinced that she is the Princess Ming Hua from his dream. In the subsequent casting meeting, the production team discusses the four finalists. A producer expresses reservations about casting Ming Wei, a complete rookie.

However, with Mu Tingzhou championing her, Ming Wei is ultimately chosen for the role. Ming Qiao congratulates her sister, declaring that career success is a reward for her romantic misfortune. They discuss the role, and Ming Qiao excitedly notes that the drama might feature Mu Tingzhou's first-ever onscreen kiss, as he is famous for avoiding intimate scenes. In preparation for filming, Ming Wei diligently studies history and the script.

At a public lecture on Ming Dynasty history, she encounters Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao. Mu Tingzhou pointedly states that while learning is vital, innate talent is paramount, implying diligence cannot compensate for a lack of natural ability. Undeterred, Ming Wei asserts her belief that "diligence can make up for a lot" and promises not to disappoint the team.

Mu Tingzhou sets a firm boundary, warning that he will not tolerate incompetence delaying the shoot and that if she fails, she should leave on her own accord. Later, Ming Wei meets Chen Zhang, the actor playing her consort, whose jovial personality is a stark contrast to Mu Tingzhou's. After the director dismisses them, Ming Wei waits for Mu Tingzhou to leave before taking the elevator, but he invites her to join him.

In the confined space, Ming Wei expresses her hope to learn from him. Mu Tingzhou replies that he might consider it, but only if she demonstrates her "sincerity." As he slowly leans closer, a confused and apprehensive Ming Wei instinctively backs away, wondering if he is suggesting she abide by the industry's "unspoken rules."

Episode 2 Recap

As border conflicts persisted for years, leaving countless people displaced and destitute, the Grand Tutor volunteered for a transfer to the border to help. In the palace, Princess Ming Hua gazed at the moon, lost in thought. In an elevator, actor Mu Tingzhou told his new co-star Ming Wei he could consider teaching her acting, but first, he needed to see her sincerity.

As he leaned closer, Ming Wei, recalling her sister's warning about "unspoken rules" on set, feared the worst. Thinking fast, she declared that a good actor's sincerity lies in diligent preparation, deep character understanding, and creating chemistry with co-stars. Pleased, Mu Tingzhou gave her one day to prove her worth, warning that failure would mean being replaced and blacklisted from the industry.

Feeling immense pressure, Ming Wei, who had never acted before, returned home to practice, frustrated by her arrogant co-star. Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou also meticulously practiced his lines before enjoying a tranquil evening with incense and meditation. The next morning, Ming Wei hurried to the set, only to find Mu Tingzhou already in the makeup room. Her first scene was a disaster, with repeated takes due to her missing her marks.

The director grew furious, and a stressed Ming Wei apologized profusely. The director confronted Mu Tingzhou, who had recommended her, about the delays. Mu Tingzhou took responsibility and requested one more chance for them to adapt to each other. During a break, Ming Wei hid in a corner, crying. Actor Chen Zhang approached to comfort her, sharing an embarrassing anecdote from his first role where he mixed up his lines, which made her laugh.

He reassured her that nervousness is normal and that her subtle expressions were good; she just needed to relax. His encouragement lifted Ming Wei's spirits. That night, Ming Wei sought out Mu Tingzhou. After being denied his contact information by his agent, Xiao Zhao, she confronted him directly. She asked if he approved of her acting, and he candidly said no. As she prepared to quit, Mu Tingzhou surprised her by offering to be her acting coach.

He acknowledged her raw talent and dedication, believing she could succeed with guidance. Overjoyed, Ming Wei accepted. He assigned her homework: to analyze the next day's scenes every night, delving into her character and others, and write down her interpretations for her own benefit. Their next scene, set in a vibrant garden, was a success. Princess Ming Hua playfully chased a butterfly until Grand Tutor Mu Yun appeared.

The pampered princess blamed him for scaring it away, but he calmly stated that a eunuch was the culprit. Just then, the butterfly landed on the princess’s head, and Mu Yun gently caught it for her. The director’s praise for the scene was a huge encouragement for Ming Wei, who then used every break to study her script and seek guidance from Mu Tingzhou. As Mu Yun tutored Princess Ming Hua in "The Book of Rites," they grew inseparable.

To convince him to take her to the Firework Festival, she argued that a princess ignorant of her people's lives couldn't be their role model. He agreed, and they later slipped away from their escorts to enjoy the festival, where he playfully reminded her when she "transgressed the bounds of decency." Realizing he had developed feelings for the princess, Mu Yun requested a transfer to the northern border to maintain his duty.

As he departed, Princess Ming Hua intercepted his carriage, demanding to know why he was leaving without a word. She tried to give him her scent bag, but he coldly refused, stating she was merely his student and that he never intended to return. Despite his harsh words, his heart ached. Ming Wei’s portrayal of the princess's hurt and indignation earned high praise from the director.

Later, Cheng Yao, one of the drama's investors and Ming Wei's cheating ex-boyfriend, visited the set. Ming Wei reacted coldly, and Chen Zhang warned her that Cheng Yao has a reputation for investing in shows just to pursue actresses. Cheng Yao then messaged Ming Wei, inviting her to dinner and implying he would explain why she was cast as the female lead.

Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou’s agent, Xiao Zhao, questioned how Ming Wei knew his room number, which Mu Tingzhou brushed off. During lunch, Chen Zhang joined Ming Wei, teasing that her on-screen "consort," Mu Tingzhou, might be developing real feelings for her, a notion she quickly dismissed. When Xiao Zhao later expressed concern that investors might harass Ming Wei at an evening banquet, Mu Tingzhou remained indifferent. At the banquet, investors flocked to praise Ming Wei. Cheng Yao approached her, remarking on her beauty and reiterating his promise to talk.

Episode 3 Recap

In the seventh year of Tianshuo, the Emperor's death sparks a rebellion by a Vassal King who, in collusion with the Imperial Guards, seizes the capital. Returning from the northern frontier, Grand Marshal Mu Yun arrives to find the palace in chaos and urgently seeks the whereabouts of Princess Ming Hua to ensure her safety. The scene shifts to the modern day, where actress Ming Wei is portraying the princess in a historical drama.

At an industry event, Ming Wei confronts her ex-boyfriend, Cheng Yao, who is an investor in the show, demanding to know if he influenced her casting. Cheng Yao attempts to evade the question, but their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Mu Tingzhou, the male lead and a renowned actor who rarely attends public functions. During the banquet, Cheng Yao offers Ming Wei food, but Mu Tingzhou intervenes, stating she must watch her weight for future roles.

He then creates an excuse for her to leave, reminding her of acting "homework" he assigned. As they depart, Cheng Yao accuses Mu Tingzhou of disrespecting Ming Wei. Mu Tingzhou retorts that true respect means not deceiving a woman or interfering in her life. On their way out, he advises Ming Wei to learn to set boundaries and protect herself.

Later, Ming Wei corners Cheng Yao, who confesses that he invested in the show to get closer to her and win her back, adding that he also didn't want a rival actress, Wang Yingying, to act arrogantly toward her. He insists his investment was merely a bonus, as her talent was undeniable. Disturbed, Ming Wei tells him she needs time to think.

She grapples with a dilemma: quitting would disrupt production and incur a hefty penalty, but staying means enduring Cheng Yao's unwanted advances. The next day, distracted by her conflict, Ming Wei's performance suffers. The director, noticing her unfocused emotions, gives her the afternoon off. When she goes to see Cheng Yao, she finds his room filled with roses. He professes his love, but Ming Wei firmly rejects him.

She declares her intention to return her salary and leave the entertainment industry after finishing the film, explaining that her conscience won't let her accept a role she believes was obtained through his connections. While dining alone, Ming Wei runs into Mu Tingzhou and his assistant, Xiao Zhao. She invites them to join her and tearfully explains her situation, feeling ashamed for getting the role through connections and reiterating her plan to quit.

Xiao Zhao then reveals the truth: the director had initially favored a more experienced actress, but Mu Tingzhou had passionately advocated for Ming Wei, believing her perfect for the role. Furthermore, Xiao Zhao confirms that Cheng Yao’s investment occurred after her casting was decided and had no influence on the decision. Overwhelmed with relief, Ming Wei impulsively hugs a surprised Mu Tingzhou. Xiao Zhao later teases him about being secretly pleased, noting he rarely shows such care for anyone.

In a flashback to the historical storyline, Princess Ming Hua sends the young Emperor to safety while she stays behind to face the rebels. Just as she is cornered, Grand Tutor Mu Yun arrives and rescues her. Relieved, she embraces him. Later, she remarks on how weary he looks and affectionately suggests they go by new titles, calling him Chief Cabinet Minister.

She also proposes they visit a fabled bridge on the upcoming Double Seventh Festival, a place where lovers’ bonds are sealed, and he agrees. From a distance, the young Emperor watches them with an ambiguous expression. Back in the present, Mu Tingzhou advises Ming Wei on her acting, praising her talent but cautioning her to separate her personal life from her character to avoid emotional exhaustion.

Later, Ming Wei clarifies to her friend, Chen Zhang, that she only dated Cheng Yao for about a month and has no intention of rekindling their relationship. As a pivotal kissing scene approaches, the director highlights its importance and notes that it will be Mu Tingzhou's first-ever on-screen kiss. To prepare, Mu Tingzhou takes Ming Wei to a movie. The romantic scenes create a palpable awkwardness between them, which intensifies when their hands accidentally touch.

Afterward, he drives her to a secluded spot and, to her shock, tells her to "Kiss me." He clarifies it's a rehearsal to ensure a smooth shoot. As a nervous Ming Wei leans in, Mu Tingzhou suddenly unbuckles her seatbelt, causing her to lurch forward into his space. After recoiling, she musters her courage to try again, only to find him looking shy himself. She playfully calls him a "paper tiger"—all talk but secretly flustered. He then lightens the mood by taking a professional-looking photo of her.

Episode 4 Recap

In a sorrowful wedding scene, Princess Ming Hua lifts her red veil, her consort not the one her heart desires. Elsewhere, Mu Yun looks at his own bride, his face revealing no joy. As the long night progresses, both drink alone. In a daze, the Princess imagines Mu Yun approaching. Wondering if it is a dream, she leans in to kiss him.

The scene reveals this to be the actress Ming Wei’s thoughts as she mentally prepares for the upcoming kissing scene, determined to perform it perfectly in a single take. The story shifts to a pivotal moment where Mu Yun has become the Grand Chief Cabinet Minister. The Emperor, aware of Mu Yun's connection with Princess Ming Hua and wary of his power, suggests he consider marriage.

He subtly threatens that not just anyone is fit to be the Minister’s wife, and any inappropriate choice could harm their ruler-subject relationship. Soon after, an imperial edict announces Mu Yun’s marriage to the virtuous daughter of the Guo family. Upon hearing the news, Princess Ming Hua confronts Mu Yun in the snow, demanding to know why he is marrying someone else after promising her.

Mu Yun claims he was only her tutor, as assigned by the late emperor, and never harbored romantic feelings, calling her belief a misunderstanding. The Princess presses him, asking him to admit if he is being forced, so she can at least know she once held a place in his heart. Citing his humble origins, Mu Yun begs her to let him go. Heartbroken, the Princess agrees but vows to make him never forget her.

She then announces her intention to marry the heir of Marquis Pingxi, asking Mu Yun to convey her wishes to the Emperor. As a final act of defiance, she declares her wedding will be on the same day as Mu Yun’s, then bitterly wishes him and his wife a long, happy marriage and the early birth of a child.

After the take, the director praises Ming Wei’s accurate portrayal as a rookie and commends Mu Tingzhou for his exceptional performance in the kissing scene, which he typically avoids. Mu Tingzhou humbly states he was simply following the script. Ming Wei is then surprised to see him remove a barrier from his lips, making her wonder if he detests her. Chen Zhang approaches, complimenting her performance and inviting her to rehearse for their next scene.

Later, Ming Wei encounters Ms. Shen, who offers her a contract with Dongying Group. Ming Wei, a rookie on her first show, feels unqualified. Ms. Shen assures her that her rookie status makes her easier to mold and commends her looks and acting skills, noting she has been observing her since the auditions. She gives Ming Wei a contract to consider, emphasizing that securing an agency early is crucial for her career. The crew surprises Mu Tingzhou with birthday wishes.

Ming Wei, unaware it was his birthday, feels guilty for not having a gift. Overhearing her, Mu Tingzhou casually remarks that it's not too late to prepare something, calling it a "closed-book exam" and telling her he expects a surprise. That night, he enters his room to find it filled with gifts and is drawn to a large pink box. Opening it, he finds Ming Wei hiding inside, holding a burnt pan.

She apologetically explains that her attempt to cook him a meal failed, so she hid in shame. As she tries to leave, he playfully stops her, asking what his gift will be now that dinner is ruined. During another filming session, Ming Wei struggles to get into character for a somber scene, constantly giggling. The director halts the take, reminding her that Princess Ming Hua and Mu Yun are facing a life-or-death separation.

Mu Tingzhou then tells Ming Wei that with filming about to wrap, their collaboration may be their last, and they might never see each other again. Visibly moved, she asks the director to restart the scene. The next scene portrays Princess Ming Hua kneeling before Mu Yun, begging him to save her two innocent children after their father, her consort, was accused of conspiracy.

Mu Yun promises to intercede, vowing to protect them even at the cost of his own life. He tells her his life’s purpose was to ensure she could always hold her head high, and her kneeling has made him feel like a failure. She asks him to rise, admitting no one else has ever cared for her as he has. They express their regret and wish for a next life where they can be together.

However, a messenger arrives with devastating news: the Emperor refuses to withdraw the edict, and her sons are to be executed the next day. Upon hearing the tragic news, Princess Ming Hua, realizing all hope is lost, asks for her zheng and wine. After playing a final melody, she drinks poison. Meanwhile, Mu Yun desperately tries to force his way into the Imperial Palace to plead with the Emperor but is stopped by guards and fails to gain an audience.

He returns to his chambers, utterly defeated. Just as his character shuts himself in, the director calls "Cut!" and announces the wrap of filming. As the cast and crew celebrate, Mu Tingzhou bids a poignant farewell to Ming Wei, saying, "Goodbye, my princess," a line carrying both his character’s sorrow and the bittersweet emotion of their journey ending.

Episode 5 Recap

In the final scene of "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister," Princess Ming Hua turns back to embrace Mu Yun. He reveals that his wife, Jin'er, passed away just three months after their marriage, and he later adopted a son named Mu Ze, who now treats him like a father. The Princess asks Mu Yun if he would still lie to her if they could start over. Mu Yun remains silent, and she gives him a bracelet as a memento before leaving.

The Emperor has ordered her lifelong confinement to the Princess Palace. As she departs, Mu Yun silently prays that in the next life, he would give up everything to be with her, ensuring they would not miss their chance again. The filming of "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" finally wraps up. During the celebration, the director praises the cast's excellent acting, confident the show will be a classic.

Ming Wei toasts the director, thanking him for his guidance on her first show. The director, however, reveals it was Mu Tingzhou who saw Ming Wei's potential and insisted on her being the leading lady. Ming Wei sincerely thanks Mu Tingzhou, who advises her that as long as she remains an actress, she must always be worthy of the profession and true to her heart.

Later at the hotel, Mu Tingzhou makes an excuse to avoid taking the elevator with Xiao Zhao and others, choosing to wait behind for Ming Wei. Once they are alone, Ming Wei remarks that the wrap-up means it's time to say goodbye. Mu Tingzhou gently takes her hand and, speaking as the Grand Tutor, advises her to take care of herself now that he can no longer be with her.

Ming Wei, responding as the Princess, assures him she will always remember his kindness and their time together. The atmosphere grows tender, but the sound of an arriving elevator startles them, and they quickly pull their hands apart. Before she leaves, he gives her one last piece of advice: given her high starting point, she should always choose a lead role over a supporting one if possible.

Ming Wei confesses she initially saw him as arrogant and aloof but now recognizes him as a warm, gentle, and kind person—a role model in both acting and character. Just then, Chen Zhang arrives to see her off, and Ming Wei leaves with him. Upon returning home, Ming Wei is greeted by her sister, Ming Qiao, who has prepared a lavish meal. Ming Wei jokingly complains about the taste but admits it has improved.

Ming Qiao gossips about the kissing scenes and filming with the "aloof Best Actor." Ming Wei deflects the questions, mentioning her many embarrassing moments as a rookie. When Ming Qiao praises the agent Xiao Zhao's popularity, Ming Wei warns her sister to stay away from him. Ming Wei describes Mu Tingzhou as someone who appears indifferent but is incredibly dedicated to his craft and very considerate, showing true respect for women by not deceiving them.

When Ming Qiao teases her about having fallen for him, Ming Wei quickly denies it, citing the vast status gap between a famous Best Actor and a new actress and clarifying that she only admires him as a role model. After filming, Mu Tingzhou holes up at home, poring over materials from the show.

Concerned he can't move on, Xiao Zhao confronts him, asking if it's because he can't exit the role or because he can't let go of Ming Wei. He advises Mu Tingzhou to seek therapy for the former or actively pursue Ming Wei for the latter. Mu Tingzhou stubbornly insists they are just colleagues. Xiao Zhao sighs, warning him that his opportunities to see Ming Wei will be limited to post-production dubbing and promotional events.

That night, Mu Tingzhou dreams of a historical confrontation where Chen Zhang admonishes him for being overly familiar with the Princess, but Mu Tingzhou, as the "Shizi" (Heir Apparent), firmly declares that the Princess is his wife. Shen Su presents Ming Wei with two new projects: "Nanxian Zhuan," a major costume drama where she would be the second female lead, and "The South City," a smaller production from their own company offering her the lead role.

Remembering Mu Tingzhou's advice, Ming Wei chooses "The South City," explaining her decision with the proverb, "it's better to be a chicken's head than a phoenix's tail." During pre-filming training, she encounters Wang Yingying, who is playing the second female lead—the protagonist's stepmother. Wang Yingying insinuates that Ming Wei must have a "gold sponsor" to land a lead role so early in her career.

Ming Wei sharply retorts that she has never relied on anyone to get ahead and threatens to sue for defamation if the rumors continue. To create an opportunity to see Ming Wei, Mu Tingzhou arranges a joint dubbing session. When Ming Wei arrives, she expresses surprise, and he feigns ignorance about the scheduling. While dubbing an embrace scene, Ming Wei instinctively hugs Mu Tingzhou to get into character, prompting the director to stop them due to the sound of friction.

Seizing the opportunity, Mu Tingzhou repeatedly halts the recording using various pretexts—his emotions aren't right, his voice is hoarse, he needs a break—all to prolong their time together, a tactic the crew mistakes for his professional dedication. Watching Ming Wei leave after the session, Mu Tingzhou resolves not to hesitate any longer. He catches up to her outside in the heavy rain and offers her a ride. Ming Wei declines, explaining she is meeting a friend to discuss bridesmaid duties.

She remarks that her car arrived surprisingly quickly. As he walks with her, she mentions turning down recent projects because she dislikes the kissing scenes, adding she wouldn't even film them with a lip mask. Mu Tingzhou teasingly replies, "So I took advantage of you last time," and is about to say something more when her car pulls up. As he drives home alone, memories of the drama flash through his mind. Suddenly, a small dog runs into the road.

He swerves to avoid it and crashes his car. His last conscious thought is Mu Yun's prayer: if there were a next life, he would give up everything to be with her and never miss their chance again.

Episode 6 Recap

The recap begins with a dreamlike scene by a tranquil body of water, where a woman resembling Ming Wei, identified as Princess Ming Hua, plays a zither in an ancient pavilion. She tells Mu Tingzhou that she has been waiting for him and recalls his promise to love and protect her. Expressing sorrow that he let her die alone, she hopes for a future life where he will not fail her again.

Mu Tingzhou, on the brink of waking, promises never to let her down in the next life, before losing consciousness. Back in reality, as Mu Tingzhou lay in a coma, fragmented scenes from the play "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" flashed through his mind, particularly a moment where Princess Ming Hua asked if he would protect her always. News of Mu Tingzhou's car accident quickly spread, becoming a top trending topic. Ming Wei, deeply worried, immediately contacted Xiao Zhao for updates.

Her anxiety kept her awake, glued to her computer, desperately awaiting any news. She blamed herself for refusing to take his car, wondering if things would have been different had she been with him. Xiao Zhao advised her against posting anything on social media, urging her to wait for official statements. At the hospital, Mu Tingzhou's family, including his parents, anxiously awaited news. A doctor explained the severe situation, asking them to be mentally prepared.

Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou awoke, startling everyone by wildly swinging an IV pole, his eyes filled with a murderous glare. He demanded to know who had captured him. Addressing his parents, he accused them of poisoning him and pretending to be his relatives to disarm him, even alleging they had cut his hair, violating filial piety. Xiao Zhao, recognizing that Mu Tingzhou believed himself to be Grand Tutor Mu from the drama, swiftly intervened.

He addressed Mu Tingzhou as "Grand Tutor," gently urging him to calm down and put down the pole, assuring him they meant no harm and that he was very weak. After a tranquilizer was administered, doctors from neurology and neurosurgery were called for a consultation. Upon receiving Xiao Zhao's message, Ming Wei rushed to the hospital, her heart pounding with fear. She cautiously entered the room but found it empty.

Mu Tingzhou suddenly emerged from the bathroom, and Ming Wei sighed in relief, seeing he was unharmed. To her astonishment, he knelt before her, addressing her as "Your Highness." Ming Wei was utterly bewildered, unsure if he was acting, playing a trick, or truly impaired. She tried to explain that he was not the Grand Tutor and she was not a princess, but merely an actress playing the role.

Mu Tingzhou, however, was convinced she had been poisoned, causing her to forget their past. He firmly maintained that he was Grand Tutor Mu Yun and insisted she call him "Grand Tutor." He asserted that he had read the script for "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" and it only solidified his belief in his identity, dismissing the love plot as "ridiculous and unfounded" given their status disparity and his imperial duties.

He even believed the script was a ploy to sow discord in the Ning Dynasty. Frustrated, Ming Wei eventually decided to play along with his delusion to avoid further complications. He revealed that he believed she was the only one he could trust in this new, strange world, and theorized they had been brought to this "future" by some unseen power or a special poison causing illusions.

Mu Tingzhou's mother, distraught, pleaded with Ming Wei to continue playing the princess, hoping she could gently guide him through psychological therapy. Ming Wei felt the burden of this task was immense and doubted her ability to pull him back to reality. Her friend Shen Su comforted her, affirming that in this situation, there was nothing they could do, and her initial hesitation was understandable. Ming Wei admitted to feeling sad and guilty about her inability to help.

Later, Mu Tingzhou refused to eat, exasperating Xiao Zhao. Noticing a scar on Mu Tingzhou's hand, Xiao Zhao tried to use it to convince him that he wasn't Mu Yun, as the character had no such injury in the script. Mu Tingzhou, however, smoothly concocted a detailed story about sustaining the scar from his mother's tailoring scissors during his impoverished youth.

Xiao Zhao, recognizing his old friend’s familiar scar, recalled their childhood when Mu Tingzhou had shielded him from a bully's dagger, saving his eye and cementing their friendship. He told Mu Tingzhou that the scar was a testament to their bond. Determined to persuade Ming Wei, Xiao Zhao presented her with Mu Tingzhou's personal notebook, filled with detailed notes on her every performance. Ming Wei was deeply moved, realizing the extent of Mu Tingzhou's silent care for her.

Xiao Zhao explained that Mu Tingzhou's seemingly cold demeanor hid a deep affection, and that his current delusion might stem from his inability to accept the princess's tragic suicide in the drama, a profound trauma for him. He suggested that playing along, even if it meant Mu Tingzhou remained the Grand Tutor indefinitely, was better than him withdrawing completely. After much contemplation, Ming Wei, holding the precious notebook, decided to agree to help.

The following day, upon Mu Tingzhou's discharge, Xiao Zhao brought him directly to Ming Wei's apartment. At Ming Wei's apartment, Mu Tingzhou knelt again, addressing her as "Your Highness." He expressed concern that a princess was confined to such a small dwelling. Noticing Ming Qiao, Ming Wei's younger sister, he mistook her for a maid and questioned her presence and intentions. Ming Wei tried to explain that in modern society, everyone was equal and there were no maids.

Mu Tingzhou, however, was appalled at the idea of a princess fending for herself, believing she had to "tailor her own clothes and chop firewood." He felt immense guilt for her perceived hardship and insisted that he should personally attend to her needs, dismissing Xiao Zhao's offer of a nanny.

Episode 7 Recap

When Ming Wei tentatively addresses him as "Grand Tutor," Mu Tingzhou is visibly moved, confessing that in this unfamiliar world, he finally has a purpose. Xiao Zhao then takes Mu Tingzhou to his own home to help him adjust. Mu Tingzhou's parents keep their distance, as he regards them with suspicion, and entrust their son's care to Xiao Zhao.

Mu Tingzhou, claiming the "basic qualities" of a Number One Scholar, quickly masters using a tablet, though he humorously mistakes the search engine "Baidu" for a person and questions why a chair would have wheels. He insists on personally attending to Ming Wei, whom he believes to be the Princess, asserting his true identity as Mu Yun, the Grand Tutor. Ming Wei, playing along, acknowledges his identity, which deeply moves Mu Tingzhou and makes him feel less alone.

Xiao Zhao shows him around the luxurious living space, including a gym that Mu Tingzhou identifies as a "martial arts practice range." Later that night, still immersed in his persona, Mu Tingzhou uses priceless antiques—Master Jingling's old mine Duan inkstone and ancient Yu Mi ink from the Qianlong era—to grind ink, much to Xiao Zhao's dismay. He even boasts of owning a Tang Dynasty Tianqing inkstone.

Despite Xiao Zhao's urging to sleep, Mu Tingzhou stays up late, marveling at modern lights, which he compares favorably to ancient lamp oil. Ming Wei, committed to her role as the Princess, believes that even if pretending cannot restore Mu Tingzhou's memories, it will at least encourage him to cooperate with treatment. As she ponders this, Mu Tingzhou video-calls her, immediately bowing to her as "Princess" upon seeing her on screen. Ming Wei tries to deter his excessive formality.

He asks about her life in this new world, and she explains she is 23, a native of Su City, and now an actress who used to be a translator, having recently filmed "The Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" with "Mr. Mu." Saddened that she cannot recall her "true" past, Mu Tingzhou vows to find those who "poisoned" them.

However, upon hearing about her acting career, he abruptly ends the call and confronts Xiao Zhao, furiously demanding to know why the "Princess" was allowed to become an actress. Xiao Zhao explains that acting is a respected profession in this era and was Ming Wei's personal choice. Mu Tingzhou vehemently disagrees, arguing that a dignified princess should not be seen by common people.

Mu Tingzhou then orders Xiao Zhao to prevent "The Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" from airing, insisting that the Princess must not be "profaned." Exasperated, Xiao Zhao informs him that both he and Ming Wei have signed contracts and the show will air regardless. He then cheekily shows Mu Tingzhou a still image of their on-screen kiss from the drama. Realizing he was the one who had "profaned" the Princess, Mu Tingzhou is stunned.

Overcome with guilt, he pulls out a dagger, declaring himself a "criminal offending Her Highness" and attempting to take his own life as an apology. Xiao Zhao frantically intervenes and manages to disarm him. In a vivid dream, the Princess confronts Mu Yun about the Marquis of Pingxi's proposal to the Empress Dowager for her hand in marriage. Mu Yun calmly congratulates her, praising the Marquis as an exceptional match.

Enraged, the Princess accuses him of being indifferent and happy that her marriage would remove an "obstacle" for him to marry "that invalid." Mu Yun maintains his stance, advising her to accept the good match, leading the Princess to declare her eternal hatred for him. Mu Tingzhou then wakes from this dream, questioning why the scene felt so real.

Early the next morning, Auntie Zhao, Mu Tingzhou's nanny, has already prepared a lavish breakfast for Ming Wei and her sister and has taken their quilts outside to air. Mu Tingzhou, addressing her as "Madam Zhao," eagerly inquires if the "Princess" was satisfied with her service. Auntie Zhao confirms her happiness, mentioning she had followed his instructions to perform the most arduous chores first. Ming Wei reminds Mu Tingzhou that in the current era, everyone is equal.

Auntie Zhao, however, expresses her delight, noting that "Mr. Mu has learned to dote on others." Later, speaking with Xiao Zhao, Auntie Zhao confides her belief that Mu Tingzhou's illness is simply an intense immersion in his character, driven by a newfound affection for the "Princess." Describing his past life as bland and devoid of passion, she expresses happiness that he has finally developed feelings and hopes he will "get his Princess."

Mu Tingzhou reviews several TV shows, finding their content immoral and harmful to the Princess's reputation. He expresses his determination not to allow any man to "take advantage" of her through acting. Xiao Zhao explains the complexities of the acting profession and the role of an agent in selecting scripts.

Mu Tingzhou, having thoroughly researched the duties of an agent, declares his intention to become the Princess's agent himself, offering to pay any breach of contract fees for her to leave her current agency. Xiao Zhao challenges his ability to pay, but Mu Tingzhou, asserting his identity is one and the same as Mu Tingzhou's, argues he can use his assets.

Xiao Zhao warns him about the demanding nature of an agent's job and proposes a more subtle approach: Mu Tingzhou could serve as Ming Wei's personal assistant. Ming Wei is initially taken aback by the suggestion. Shen Su, her agent, deems the idea preposterous, worried about the negative impact on Ming Wei's career if the public saw the Best Actor serving a novice actress.

Xiao Zhao counters by revealing their plan: if Ming Wei agrees, he and Mu Tingzhou's parents will hold a press conference to disclose Mu Tingzhou's medical condition, explaining the unusual arrangement. Ming Wei's primary concern is not for herself, but for Mu Tingzhou's reaction when he eventually recovers his memories, fearing his anger over decisions made by his "Grand Tutor" persona.

Xiao Zhao reassures her that they will protect her legally and morally in the contract and even offers to act as her secondary assistant to supervise Mu Tingzhou. Ming Wei ultimately agrees, and Mu Tingzhou immediately resumes his deferential bowing, which Ming Wei asks him to cease in public. Mu Tingzhou meticulously cares for Ming Wei, making her feel overly pampered. Ming Wei takes him to see a psychologist, Dr. Li.

Mu Tingzhou states his belief that Dr. Li intends to "chase him out" of Mu Tingzhou's body to restore his memories, but affirms he would obey any of the Princess's wishes, even death. Dr. Li gently guides the conversation, explaining that she seeks to understand "why" he holds his beliefs. In turn, Mu Tingzhou expresses his curiosity about why an actor like Mu Tingzhou would forget his identity due to a role.

Dr. Li explains that Mu Tingzhou is a highly sensitive actor who fully embodies his roles, leading him to lose himself. She notes that unlike other actors who find an "anchor" in real life, Mu Tingzhou lacked one, with acting consuming his entire existence. Ming Wei expresses her admiration and pity for Mu Tingzhou's sacrifices.

However, the Grand Tutor counters that if she truly pities him, she shouldn't wish for his return, suggesting Mu Tingzhou might be "tired of his life," weary of constantly experiencing "sorrow and happiness in other people's stories," and has "fallen asleep" to rest, allowing him to awaken. He concludes that forcing Mu Tingzhou back would make him unhappy. Later, Ming Wei goes to the Hongyuan Hotel to be a bridesmaid for a friend.

Her sister reassures her about the impending media attention from the press conference. Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou questions Xiao Zhao why he isn't preparing for the "important" press conference, only to learn it is scheduled for the next day. Xiao Zhao informs him that Ming Wei is currently serving as a bridesmaid. Mu Tingzhou, unfamiliar with the term, remarks that it sounds like a "dowry maid." He then searches for images of bridesmaids online and is appalled, exclaiming that the pictures are "offensive and unsightly."

Episode 8 Recap

Mu Tingzhou awakened from a vivid dream where he was Mu Yun, the Grand Tutor, on the day of Princess Ming Wei's wedding. In the dream, commoners congratulated the Grand Tutor on his own wedding, which was happening on the same day as the princess's. An attendant warned him about missing the propitious time. Despite this, Mu Yun abruptly rode towards the Princess's wedding procession.

The Emperor appeared, warning Mu Yun that advancing further would be an act of defiance, akin to treason. Undeterred, Mu Yun drew his sword and forced his way through, declaring to the Princess, "Your Highness, I am taking you home." As a sword flew toward them, the Princess recoiled and almost fell, but Mu Yun caught her, holding her close. The real-world wedding ceremony of Han Xiaoya, Ming Wei’s best friend, commenced.

Ming Wei, a bridesmaid, was popular with the guests. The bride, Han Xiaoya—privately dubbed a "scheming girl" by another friend for her behavior—grew jealous and invited Ming Wei onto the stage, ostensibly to find her a "reliable" partner after a past bad experience. Despite Ming Wei's discomfort, Han Xiaoya pushed further, instructing male guests to collect "love stickers" from waiters and place them on Ming Wei to show their interest.

As men swarmed a distressed Ming Wei, Han Xiaoya announced, "Gentlemen, the more you stick, the more connection you have with Ming Wei," aiming to humiliate her. Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou appeared, shocking the crowd who recognized him as the Best Actor. Assuming his "Grand Tutor" persona, he rushed to Ming Wei, addressing her as "Your Highness," and apologized for being late.

He then angrily denounced Han Xiaoya as an "evil and mean woman" unworthy of being the Princess’s friend, wrapped Ming Wei in a sheer veil, and carried her out of the venue as bewildered guests recorded the scene on their phones. Shortly after, the incident became a national sensation, trending widely online. Shen Su and Xiao Zhao, Mu Tingzhou’s manager and assistant, struggled to contain the public reaction, with Shen Su frantically directing Xiao Zhao to manage the narrative online.

Seeing the news, Ming Wei's parents called her. Her father expressed concern that Mu Tingzhou was feigning his condition with "ill intentions." Ming Wei tried to explain Mu Tingzhou’s amnesia and peculiar behavior, noting he even "kneels down for me frequently." Her mother, worried for Ming Wei's new acting career, suggested she quit. Ming Wei insisted she loved acting and would protect herself.

Her father then reassured her mother, acknowledging her underlying fear that Ming Wei’s biological father might see the news, and promised to protect their family. Still worried, Ming Wei's mother wanted to visit, but her father assured her he would handle it.

Still in his Grand Tutor persona, Mu Tingzhou acknowledged he had erred by not protecting Ming Wei from the "scoundrels" at the wedding but staunchly defended his criticism of her attire, asserting it was "destructive to the morals" and his duty to guide her. Ming Wei countered that he misunderstood modern fashion and used his own publicized photos to highlight his "double standard."

She challenged his archaic logic, questioning why he would serve as her assistant if he believed she should be confined. Mu Tingzhou confessed his inability to change reality or restore her "honor," reiterating that his only purpose was to protect her. Ming Wei urged him to adapt to the modern world to truly fulfill his promise.

Feeling guilty for the chaos they caused, she proposed three rules: first, he was never to kneel to her; second, disagreements must be discussed calmly, with her retaining absolute control over her choices, including her clothing; and third, he must maintain a professional distance and avoid physical contact to prevent misunderstandings. Later, Xiao Zhao spoke privately to Mu Tingzhou, affirming his loyalty and acknowledging his psychological "illness," promising to always be by his side.

Mu Tingzhou, still in character, grandly thanked "Steward Xiao" for his loyalty, vowing to recommend him for a general's post. Distracted by her newfound notoriety, Ming Wei confided in Shen Su that she wanted to be an actress known for her skill, not for scandals. Shen Su reassured her that enduring "slanders" is a prerequisite for receiving "praises" and advised her to view it as a test.

The following day, Ming Wei, Mu Tingzhou’s family, and Xiao Zhao held a press conference. Ming Wei expressed her regret over Mu Tingzhou’s illness and pledged to cooperate with his treatment, urging the public to create a positive environment for his recovery. Then, Mu Tingzhou's family, speaking on his behalf, thanked the public and Ming Wei.

They explained that Mu Tingzhou's "antiquated ideas" as the "Grand Tutor" led him to believe Ming Wei’s gown was "inappropriate," causing him to forcibly remove her from the wedding. They apologized for the impact on Ming Wei and requested that fans support her, while also warning the media against intrusive reporting that could worsen Mu Tingzhou's condition, threatening legal action if necessary. The next morning, Mu Tingzhou arrived at Ming Wei’s residence to prepare her breakfast.

Adhering to ancient rules of status, he insisted that Ming Wei, as the "Princess," eat first, while he, Xiao Zhao, and Ming Qiao waited. Annoyed, Ming Wei asserted that everyone was equal and declared she would not eat unless they all joined her. Faced with her resolve, Mu Tingzhou reluctantly allowed everyone to eat together.

Later, as Ming Wei prepared for a training class, Xiao Zhao offered to help choose an outfit, warning that her fashion choices would now be scrutinized. However, Mu Tingzhou forbade Xiao Zhao, an "outsider," from entering Ming Wei's bedroom. Instead, he had Ming Wei bring her clothes out for his inspection. When Xiao Zhao reached out to help, Mu Tingzhou insisted he wear a glove before touching the princess's garments.

Finding her entire wardrobe unsatisfactory, he declared he would buy her new clothes, bringing ample cash for a shopping trip. At the clothing store, Ming Wei was happily trying on clothes when a fan recognized her and asked for an autograph. Ming Wei initially denied her identity, but when the fan expressed genuine admiration for her past work as a Hanfu model, she happily agreed. The fan excitedly thanked "Princess Ming Wei," which immediately drew the attention of Mu Tingzhou. Still in his Grand Tutor persona, he rushed over, angrily questioning who dared to approach "Her Highness" so brazenly in public.

Episode 9 Recap

In an attempt to staff the "palace," Xiao Zhao tried to recruit several men to serve as eunuchs. The applicants, who initially thought it was a casting call for extras, all refused upon learning it was a real position, despite the offer of a high salary. Separately, Mu Tingzhou personally vetted potential female servants, strictly drilling them on ancient court etiquette and dismissing those who failed to meet his exacting standards.

Ming Wei was approached by an excited fan in a shopping mall who recognized her and asked for an autograph. Initially hesitant to draw attention, Ming Wei agreed after learning the fan had followed her since her days as a Hanfu model. Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou intervened, addressing Ming Wei as "Your Highness" and scolding the fan for daring to approach her.

He then offered to sign on Ming Wei's behalf, attracting a crowd of other fans who eagerly swarmed him for autographs, while Ming Wei stood at the periphery, amused by the chaos. Later, Mu Tingzhou, still in his Grand Tutor persona, expressed concern about the security of Ming Wei's residence and earnestly requested that she move into his "humble home" so he could personally care for her.

Ming Wei demurred, mentioning her sister, but Mu Tingzhou insisted they discuss it further. After reaching her apartment, Ming Wei was surprised to find Cheng Yao waiting at her door. He explained he had designed a variety show specifically for her, featuring industry elites, with her as the main star. He proposed signing a contract immediately if she agreed to return to him. Ming Wei was angered, seeing his offer as a cynical exchange for resources and fame.

Cheng Yao persisted, asserting he could provide everything Mu Tingzhou could. Ming Wei firmly stated she would never compromise herself for personal gain, finding his "marked price" resources distasteful. As their argument escalated, Mu Tingzhou arrived, pushing Cheng Yao away and stating he was late to protect "Her Highness." Cheng Yao, mocking them about their supposed time travel, was threatened by Mu Tingzhou, who declared he would have punished him severely if not for modern society's laws.

Later that evening, Mu Tingzhou respectfully delivered a cup of hot milk to Ming Wei, assuring her she could call on him anytime she needed assistance. During a training session, a male student attempted to harass Ming Qiao. Anticipating his actions, Ming Qiao swiftly subdued him before he could lay a hand on her. Outraged, the male student filed a complaint, accusing Ming Qiao of breaking his hand and demanding an apology.

The manager urged Ming Qiao to apologize, but she staunchly refused, asserting it was an act of self-defense. The student threatened to sue and have her fired. Just then, Xiao Zhao appeared, stepping in for Ming Qiao. He challenged the student to call his lawyer, confidently offering his own lawyer's card—from the nation's top law firm—and threatening to release the surveillance video of the attempted harassment.

Xiao Zhao later reassured Ming Qiao, telling her not to fear offending anyone and promising to have her back no matter what. Late that night, Mu Tingzhou abruptly evicted Xiao Zhao from the villa, arguing that as an "unaffiliated male," Xiao Zhao could not cohabitate with "Her Highness." He sarcastically noted that Xiao Zhao's substantial income as a top agent meant he wouldn't be homeless and that Madam Zhao had already packed his belongings.

When Xiao Zhao protested, pointing out that Mu Tingzhou was also an unaffiliated male, Mu Tingzhou asserted his own need to remain to protect "Her Highness" and his strict self-discipline, claiming he harbored no inappropriate thoughts. He accused Xiao Zhao of being a philanderer based on his phone calls with various women.

Mu Tingzhou then suggested Xiao Zhao could only stay if he agreed to be "castrated," a condition Xiao Zhao vehemently rejected before leaving, vowing that Mu Tingzhou would one day beg him to return. The next morning, Ming Qiao was surprised to find the villa immaculately clean. Descending the stairs, she saw Xiao Zhao watering plants, silhouetted by the morning light, and found herself watching him.

During a break in her training class, Ming Wei checked her phone, noting Mu Tingzhou hadn't contacted her, which was uncharacteristic. A female student then approached her, asking for a photo, which Ming Wei happily agreed to. Wang Yingying, observing the interaction, approached Ming Wei with a cynical smile, asking how it felt to constantly be on trending topics. Ming Wei admitted to feeling anxious, explaining that she acted not for fame or fortune.

Wang Yingying cautioned Ming Wei against being too naive in the industry, warning she might be exploited without realizing it. Prompted by Wang Yingying, Ming Wei checked her social media and discovered the female student had used their photo to "clout chase." After class, Mu Tingzhou confidently invited Ming Wei "home." Upon opening the door, Ming Wei was met by a grand sight: women dressed in ancient costumes standing in two orderly rows, welcoming her.

Mu Tingzhou explained that according to palace rules, she should have dozens of servants, but he had struggled to recruit them. He mentioned that Madam Zhao had been appointed Head Madam to oversee the few maids they had found, and he lamented that the only man who met his recruitment standards, implying Xiao Zhao, had refused castration and was now only allowed to enter the villa during the day.

Despite the reduced staff, Ming Wei was overwhelmed, but Mu Tingzhou insisted she inspect the "palace" he had meticulously prepared. He led her to a luxurious bedroom furnished with a Chinese zither, which she happily played. Further inside was a lavish, fully stocked closet. Mu Tingzhou then presented her with an ornate "Huaxiangrong" cosmetic box, explaining its royal origins and beauty benefits. Ming Wei, astonished by his knowledge and generosity, felt she could not repay him.

Mu Tingzhou insisted it was his honor to serve her, as he couldn't take her back to her era and could only strive to make her life carefree in this new world. Ming Wei, feeling the immense scale of the preparations, then asked him to dismiss the servants, explaining she was unaccustomed to such attention. She proposed keeping only a versatile robot she called "Imperial Guard Bao," which could perform various tasks.

Mu Tingzhou initially expressed concern about a "male stranger" serving "Her Highness," but Ming Wei clarified the robot had no gender and could be customized, which intrigued Mu Tingzhou. Later, Ming Qiao visited Ming Wei, who showed her the luxurious suite. Ming Wei confided in Ming Qiao about her emotional struggle, admitting she had initially only intended to pretend to be the princess to help Mu Tingzhou recover his memories.

However, she found herself enjoying the feeling of being constantly cherished and protected by him. She expressed her internal conflict, acknowledging that this was irrational and fearing how she would face him if he one day fully regained his memories. Ming Qiao wisely advised her not to overthink it, emphasizing that Mu Tingzhou was happy when he was treating her well, regardless of his persona.

She encouraged Ming Wei to focus on her mission to help him recover, suggesting that once he was well, her "mission would be complete," as she wasn't seeking anything from him anyway. The melodious sound of the Chinese zither drifted from Ming Wei's room, drawing Mu Tingzhou closer. As he listened, memories of the Princess began to surface. Suddenly, the sound of something shattering came from within. Mu Tingzhou rushed in to find Ming Wei distraught.

She apologized profusely, explaining she had accidentally broken a vase and offered to pay for it. When she learned it was a valuable antique from the Ming Dynasty, she became even more distraught, fearing she couldn't afford it. Mu Tingzhou quickly reassured her, dismissing the vase's value as insignificant compared to her well-being and stating that his money was hers. As Ming Wei knelt to clean up the pieces, her hand briefly touched his.

Episode 10 Recap

Warm hands met, sparking a palpable connection as two pairs of eyes locked, creating an intimate atmosphere. Ming Wei quickly withdrew her hand, flustered, while Mu Tingzhou, feeling he had overstepped, sincerely apologized for his abruptness. Later that evening, Ming Wei found herself unable to sleep. She tried to rationalize that a simple touch between a man and a woman was normal in modern society, yet her heart pounded uncontrollably.

Seeking a distraction, she went to the closet, where she was surprised to find that the storage cabinets seemed custom-built for her height. The next morning, Ming Wei intended to deliver some items to her sister, Ming Qiao. Xiao Zhao offered to go instead, reasoning that since Ming Wei was helping him look after Mu Tingzhou, it was only fair that he help look after her sister.

Ming Wei cautiously reminded him that Ming Qiao, despite her independent demeanor, was young and innocent, having never been in a relationship. Xiao Zhao, slightly offended by the implication, assured her that he regarded Ming Qiao as his own sister. Embarrassed, Ming Wei let the matter drop. During the drive, Ming Qiao inquired about Xiao Zhao's romantic life.

Her spirits soared upon learning he was single, but her joy was cut short by a text: her father, Ming Qiang, was on his way to confront Ming Wei. Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou, still immersed in his "Grand Tutor" persona, was instructing a housekeeping robot as if it were a palace servant. His monologue was interrupted when Ming Qiang burst into the villa, demanding to take Ming Wei home.

Mistaking the intrusion for an attack, Mu Tingzhou shouted for his guards to protect the "Princess" and engaged Ming Qiang in a physical struggle. The two were evenly matched until Ming Wei arrived just in time to stop them, with Ming Qiao and Xiao Zhao close behind. After things calmed down, Mu Tingzhou requested to speak with Ming Qiang privately to clear up any misunderstandings.

As time passed, Ming Wei and Ming Qiao grew anxious, well aware of Ming Qiang’s short temper. To their astonishment, the two men emerged shortly after, laughing and addressing each other cordially. After bidding a satisfied farewell, Ming Qiang pulled Ming Wei aside and secretly urged her to make Mu Tingzhou his son-in-law as soon as possible. Bewildered by her father’s sudden change in demeanor, Ming Wei pressed Mu Tingzhou for an explanation.

He told her simply that he had expressed his genuine feelings, believing that sincerity is the most powerful tool. Though she didn't fully understand, Ming Wei was relieved the conflict was resolved. Mu Tingzhou then acknowledged that she might not be entirely willing to stay, admitting his own desires might have been one-sided. He promised to respect her wishes if she wanted to move out, adding he would find a way to live nearby.

However, he confessed that the nights she had stayed there were the most secure and peaceful he had felt since his "awakening." His heartfelt words instantly dispelled any thought Ming Wei had of leaving. A flashback to their private conversation reveals Mu Tingzhou confessed to Ming Qiang that he was genuinely pursuing Ming Wei. He explained that he had intervened at the wedding because he couldn't stand to see the bride bully her.

He admitted his approach might have been too intense but declared his deep affection for Ming Wei, calling her his most cherished person. He promised to care for her as well as her own father did and, to prove his sincerity, presented Ming Qiang with a property deed. Impressed by his earnestness, Ming Qiang gave his approval, warning Mu Tingzhou to always treat her well.

Later, Mu Tingzhou admitted to Xiao Zhao that while he put on a "performance" for the old man, half of what he said was true, and he would protect the "Princess" for life. That night, Ming Qiao's power went out as she was blow-drying her hair. Seeing an opportunity, she messaged Xiao Zhao, who was at a bar and promptly rushed over.

He entered her apartment to find it lit by numerous candles, which she claimed was because she feared the dark. Xiao Zhao quickly deduced that her breaker had tripped and located the switch in the hallway, restoring power. Wary of the intimate atmosphere, he politely declined her invitation to come in for a drink, citing other commitments, and left wondering about her strange behavior.

As Ming Wei prepared to join the cast of her new drama, "The South City," Mu Tingzhou announced his intention to join her as her personal assistant. Her agent, Shen Su, was resistant, having already turned down a guest role for him due to his condition. However, Ming Wei argued that immersing him in a familiar film set environment might help his amnesia, as the set felt more like home to him than his own house.

Despite Shen Su’s warning that he would be a "time bomb" on a set filled with romantic scenes, Ming Wei was confident she could handle him. Arriving on set, Ming Wei was shocked to find Chen Zhang, who revealed he was cast as the male lead.

He first claimed he dropped a bigger project for "The South City" because he preferred its script, but later amended his story, saying issues with the other project led Shen Su to "take him in." As they were playfully bantering, with Chen Zhang calling her "Princess" and himself "Consort," Mu Tingzhou arrived. Ming Wei explained that he had stepped away to find a sunshade. Chen Zhang then greeted Mu Tingzhou warmly, addressing him by his old character's title, "Shizi."

Episode 11 Recap

Mu Tingzhou reflected on his interactions with Ming Wei, a smile forming on his lips as he considered the possibility that he had truly fallen for her. He recalled the five signs of affection: a constant desire to be near the person, a strong urge to do things for them, unspoken jealousy, a racing heart at their thought, and a physical longing.

At the filming set, Mu Tingzhou encountered Chen Zhang and mistook him for the Shizi, a noble heir from the Ning Dynasty. Thankfully, Ming Wei arrived just in time to defuse the awkward situation, explaining they were filming a drama. Later, when Wang Yingying approached Mu Tingzhou, he unexpectedly ordered her to kneel before Ming Wei, declaring that the Princess's high standing demanded reverence. Mortified, Ming Wei quickly pulled Mu Tingzhou aside.

She explained that while he might see her as a revered princess, to others, she was just an ordinary actress living in 2021. She urged him to be more discreet in public to avoid being seen as arrogant. Understanding her predicament, Mu Tingzhou promised to bear her words in mind. During the filming of a scene, a lady named Yu Wanyin emerged from a shop, drawing the attention of rickshaw drivers.

A confident driver, Gao Changsheng, boasted he would get her fare, but Yu Wanyin walked past him without a glance. Undeterred, Gao Changsheng loudly claimed her as his fare, causing the other drivers to back off. With no other choice, Yu Wanyin reluctantly got into his rickshaw. Upon reaching their destination, Gao Changsheng offered a hand to help her down but deliberately pulled her closer, causing her to lean into him.

He proclaimed that in his twenty-five years, he had never seen such a beautiful woman. Watching this scene unfold from the sidelines, Mu Tingzhou bristled with anger. As they prepared to move to a distant filming location, Chen Zhang invited Ming Wei to walk with him and admire the architecture. When she agreed, Chen Zhang offered to hold the umbrella for her, which Mu Tingzhou was currently holding.

Mu Tingzhou immediately refused, stating it was his duty as Grand Tutor to care for the Princess. He sternly instructed Chen Zhang to maintain his distance from Ming Wei, both on and off set. An argument ensued as Chen Zhang tried to take the umbrella, but Mu Tingzhou refused to let go. Feeling awkward, Ming Wei excused herself and walked on ahead. Later, Mu Tingzhou discreetly gave the director revised script pages.

While Ming Wei found the changes excellent, Chen Zhang lamented the extra work, having just memorized lines that were now entirely rewritten. Deducing the reason for the changes, Xiao Zhao accused Mu Tingzhou of acting out of jealousy because he liked Ming Wei. Mu Tingzhou vehemently denied this, claiming he was merely fulfilling his duty, entrusted by the late emperor, to guide the Princess and Crown Prince without overstepping boundaries.

He added that the character of the amnesiac Shizi was of no value to his mission and that he perceived the character as coveting the Princess. Meanwhile, Ming Qiao invited Xiao Zhao to her yoga studio to repay him for his help. During an aerial yoga session, their movements led to amusingly awkward physical contact, creating a lighthearted atmosphere between them.

Later, Xiao Zhao visited Ming Wei on set, comically recounting his "ordeal" with Ming Qiao, claiming it was more excruciating than being beaten. Aware of an upcoming kissing scene, he predicted Mu Tingzhou's disapproval and gave Ming Wei a clever suggestion to handle it. That evening, Ming Wei attempted to sneak out for the shoot. Mu Tingzhou nearly discovered her, but Xiao Zhao appeared just in time to provide a cover.

The scene involved Chen Zhang's character forcefully kissing Ming Wei's character. As the atmosphere grew intense and the director nodded in approval, Mu Tingzhou suddenly burst onto the set and pushed Chen Zhang to the ground. Infuriated, Chen Zhang lunged at Mu Tingzhou, but stopped when Ming Wei quickly stepped between them. On the car ride back, Mu Tingzhou's silent, imposing presence created a suffocating atmosphere. Ming Wei cautiously apologized, but Mu Tingzhou suddenly clutched his head, groaning in pain.

Concerned, Ming Wei tended to him and gently explained that as an actress, intimate scenes were an unavoidable part of her profession. Hearing this, Mu Tingzhou grew even more dramatic, expressing his deep distress and anger, leaving Ming Wei feeling helpless. He refused to go to the hospital, insisting he would rather die at home, quoting that "fallen leaves return to their roots."

He demanded Ming Wei promise to never lie to him again and to never film such intimate scenes. Ming Wei promised not to lie but stood firm on her professional duties, reminding him that even as the actor Mu Tingzhou, he wouldn't have made such a promise. Reacting intensely, he declared her words were like a death sentence and that he had failed the late emperor's trust, resolving to die to atone for his failure.

Back at their residence, he began a hunger strike, vowing to "die to honor his beliefs." Exasperated, Ming Wei reminded him that he had been in the modern world long enough to understand an actor's professional obligations. He remained stubborn, asserting that while other actors could, the Princess, with her noble status, could not be "tarnished."

Seeing no other way, Ming Wei used her authority as the Princess, ordering him to eat and declaring that his refusal would be an act of defiance against a royal decree.

Episode 12 Recap

In a serene courtyard, Mu Tingzhou patiently instructed Ming Wei on the art of brewing tea. When Ming Wei playfully suggested they clink cups, Mu Tingzhou paused, his mind flashing back to the palace. He remembered teaching the Princess the same ceremony and how she, too, had wanted to clink cups. In the Ning Dynasty, such a gesture was reserved for spouses, which had caused him, as the Grand Tutor, to hastily withdraw.

Back in the present, swayed by his feelings, Mu Tingzhou did not refuse Ming Wei's gesture. Later, Xiao Zhao confronted Mu Tingzhou about his stubborn refusal to let Ming Wei film a kissing scene. He argued that since they were stuck in the modern world, adhering to ancient etiquette was pointless.

He reminded Mu Tingzhou that Ming Wei was a professional actress who would eventually marry, and while he could block a kissing scene now, he couldn't prevent her from finding a suitable partner forever. Pressing further, Xiao Zhao asked if Mu Tingzhou felt anything beyond anger—like jealousy or a desire to replace Chen Zhang—when he saw the on-screen kiss.

Mu Tingzhou denied it, but his darting eyes and the way he ravenously ate a piece of bread to hide his discomfort told Xiao Zhao everything he needed to know. Mu Tingzhou later asked Ming Wei if she harbored feelings for Chen Zhang. She flatly denied it, quoting his own advice that actors must separate their performance from personal emotions.

When Mu Tingzhou, adhering to outdated patriarchal views, questioned how she could tolerate physical contact if she disliked Chen Zhang, Ming Wei challenged him. She pointed out that besides her parents, he was the only one who treated her like a princess; to everyone else, she was just a rookie actress. She passionately explained that acting allowed her to experience different lives, a journey she deeply valued.

To be a good actor, she asserted, one couldn't arbitrarily alter scripts based on personal preferences. Moved by her conviction, Mu Tingzhou stood and declared he would no longer obstruct her. Overjoyed, Ming Wei impulsively hugged him, causing him to lose his balance. They tumbled backward, landing with their faces inches apart. As they recovered, Ming Wei teased him about his tense muscles.

He complained that the actor Mu Tingzhou's body was to blame, weakened by numerous injuries from years of demanding work. Ming Wei defended the actor's dedication, noting his Best Actor award was well-deserved. She then offered him a massage, revealing her family ran a martial arts club and she was skilled in such techniques. Feeling much better afterward, Mu Tingzhou expressed regret that he hadn't "awakened" sooner to protect her, blaming himself for her past hardships.

Ming Wei reassured him that she and her brother were always loved by their parents and never had to depend on others. The next morning, Mu Tingzhou prepared a lavish breakfast for Ming Wei. As she got ready for the day's filming, which included a rain scene, she clutched her stomach in pain and took a painkiller for her period.

During the shoot, Wang Yingying seemed to deliberately sabotage the scene, forcing Ming Wei to fall repeatedly in the simulated downpour. Watching from the sidelines, Mu Tingzhou was overcome with heartache. Later, while discussing the script, Mu Tingzhou and Chen Zhang found rare common ground, agreeing that the stepmother character should appear more pathetic and humiliated to create a more satisfying arc for the modern audience. Afterward, Wang Yingying subtly threatened Chen Zhang, warning him to stop helping Ming Wei.

Once the grueling scene was over, Mu Tingzhou scooped the drenched Ming Wei into his arms and carried her to the car. He had thoughtfully prepared warm brown sugar water for her. As he carefully dried her hair and skin, the close proximity created an intimate and charged atmosphere.

The household staff, observing them, speculated that the real Mu Tingzhou had fallen for Ming Wei during filming, and his amnesia was a subconscious manifestation of his desire to protect his "Princess" as the Grand Tutor. Back home, after ensuring Ming Wei drank a medicinal soup and gently blow-drying her hair, Mu Tingzhou knelt before her.

He proposed marriage, explaining that while he was fifteen years her senior, they were stranded in an unfamiliar world where he couldn't trust anyone else to care for her. With the legitimacy of marriage, he could look after her without causing gossip, especially after incidents like the rain scene. Ming Wei was initially surprised, but her expression quickly fell into disappointment.

That night, Ming Wei tossed and turned, questioning if Mu Tingzhou truly loved her or if his care was born purely from a sense of duty. She sadly concluded that his memory would eventually return, and he would revert to being the aloof Best Actor. Their time together would become a fading dream, and she would no longer be his Princess, just an admirer from afar. The next morning, a tense silence hung between them at breakfast.

Mu Tingzhou, noticing her avoidance, worried she disliked him, seeing him as an "old man" unworthy of her. In a decisive move, he announced that from now on, he, not Xiao Zhao, would be driving her to and from the set.

Episode 13 Recap

In a dream-like sequence, Mu Yun glided across shimmering water, shrouded in a gentle mist. Princess Ming Hua asked him hopefully if he would never leave her again, and he silently affirmed with a smile and a nod. Hand in hand, they ran across the clear blue water, heedless of their wet clothes as water splashed around them. Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou's face appeared reflected in the water, startling Mu Yun.

The film crew prepared for a horse-riding scene, which required Ming Wei to gallop. Despite prior training, Ming Wei felt nervous. Seeing this, Chen Zhang approached to offer detailed instructions. Their hands touched as he helped position her, then he held her waist to assist her onto the horse. Watching this, Mu Tingzhou was overcome with irritation and jealousy. He swiftly leaped onto the horse behind Ming Wei and immediately rode off, leaving a surprised Chen Zhang behind.

As the horse galloped through the forest, Mu Tingzhou’s arm settled around Ming Wei’s waist. When they finally stopped, an annoyed Ming Wei declared that Chen Zhang was genuinely good to her, not merely acting out of a sense of duty. She questioned Mu Tingzhou's possessive actions, given his usual adherence to propriety. Mu Tingzhou explained that he had already asked for her hand in marriage the previous night.

Ming Wei, however, pointed out that she had not accepted his proposal. She argued there was little difference between him and Chen Zhang, except that Chen Zhang’s kindness felt genuine, not born from a sense of duty. With that, Ming Wei rode off on her own. Later, Chen Zhang confronted Mu Tingzhou, stating his intention to pursue Ming Wei.

He pressed Mu Tingzhou on what authority he had to obstruct him, asking if he was acting as an elder or a suitor. Mu Tingzhou reiterated that he had already asked Ming Wei to marry him. Chen Zhang scoffed at this, calling it ridiculous since Ming Wei had not accepted. He argued that this put them on equal footing as suitors, and he would not back down.

Mu Tingzhou maintained that even without her acceptance, Chen Zhang stood no chance, but Chen Zhang retorted that only Ming Wei could decide the outcome. After the horse-riding sequence was successfully filmed, a light technician's oversight spooked Ming Wei's horse, creating a dangerous situation. In the critical moment, Mu Tingzhou lunged forward to shield Ming Wei, and they tumbled down a cliff together.

At the hospital, doctors confirmed Ming Wei had only minor external injuries, but Mu Tingzhou’s condition was more severe, as he had suffered multiple grazes and a serious concussion. The medical team noted that he had clearly risked his life to protect her. Ming Wei awoke in the hospital and, anxious about Mu Tingzhou, immediately asked about his condition. Despite her own recent awakening, she insisted on going to his room.

Upon reaching his bedside, she grasped his hand, overwhelmed with guilt for his injuries. As if summoned by her voice, Mu Tingzhou slowly regained consciousness. He looked at her with an unfamiliar gaze, leading Ming Wei to momentarily think the real Mu Tingzhou had returned. However, when he gently reached out to touch her head, he still addressed her as "Princess," confirming he remained in his Grand Tutor persona. Overjoyed, Ming Wei embraced him, a wide smile on her face.

Chen Zhang, witnessing this tender scene, understood he had lost the battle for her heart. In the quiet of the hospital room, Mu Tingzhou confessed his feelings to Ming Wei. He explained that in the terrifying moments of falling down the cliff, he finally understood that his feelings for her transcended his duty.

He had asked himself if he would still protect her for life, irrespective of his Grand Tutor identity or his duties to the Emperor, and seeing her in danger, he had found his answer: he would willingly risk his life to ensure her safety. He pledged to protect her always, regardless of her answer. Unsure how to respond, Ming Wei began to rise to get water. Mu Tingzhou gently held her arm, his eyes filled with anticipation.

Ming Wei, in turn, asked if he would still have rescued her so selflessly had he discovered she wasn't truly a princess. Without hesitation, Mu Tingzhou firmly replied that he would. A radiant smile lit up Ming Wei's face, and she interlaced her fingers with his. Later, Ming Wei confided in her sister, Ming Qiao, about her lingering uncertainty.

She knew she loved the Grand Tutor, but she was still confused if the man before her was one person or two. Ming Qiao wisely advised her that it didn't matter who he was; as long as he was the one she desired and loved in the present moment, that was enough. Ming Wei then playfully guessed that Ming Qiao herself had fallen in love, observing her sister's shy reactions, which clearly indicated special feelings for Xiao Zhao.

Ming Qiao, however, insisted she would only tell her sister once she was certain. Chen Zhang visited Mu Tingzhou in the hospital with flowers, sincerely thanking him for saving Ming Wei's life. Mu Tingzhou brusquely stated that he and Ming Wei were deeply in love, implying an outsider's thanks were unnecessary. Acknowledging defeat, Chen Zhang nevertheless issued a cautionary remark.

He revealed that Ming Wei had been visibly nervous before Mu Tingzhou woke up, not only concerned for his injuries but also fearing he might no longer be the Grand Tutor or might not remember her at all. He questioned what Ming Wei would do if the Grand Tutor persona were to vanish completely. With quiet conviction, Mu Tingzhou murmured that he would never abandon Ming Wei.

Upon his discharge, Mu Tingzhou went directly to Ming Wei's film set, bringing her favorite facial cleanser and snacks and telling her how much he had missed her. He confessed this was his first experience with love and announced his intention to seek her parents' permission for their marriage once her drama concluded. Ming Wei, however, urged him to be realistic. She explained that everyone, including herself, viewed him as a temporarily amnesiac patient.

She outlined the doctor’s three possible prognoses: he might remain as he is, he might recover all his memories including their time together, or he might recover only his pre-accident memories and forget their relationship entirely. She voiced her fear that if he recovered and forgot her, it would be a heartbreaking ordeal. Furthermore, she admitted she lacked the courage to face the true Mu Tingzhou's arrogance or the gossip that would inevitably follow.

She urged him not to worry, expressing her contentment with simply having met him. Later, Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou enjoyed a harmonious morning preparing breakfast, including dumplings Mu Tingzhou had learned to make for the Winter Solstice. The pleasant atmosphere was disrupted by a message from Chen Zhang. Feeling awkward, Ming Wei informed Mu Tingzhou that she had to reshoot a kiss scene with Chen Zhang the next day and he had sent some videos for discussion.

To Ming Wei's surprise, Mu Tingzhou showed no jealousy, his expression remaining calm. He simply encouraged her to finish eating and rest up. His serene reaction left Ming Wei puzzled, wondering if his lack of jealousy meant he didn't truly care about her.

Episode 14 Recap

Within the historical drama, a young man announces his imminent departure for the north and pleads with a lady to wait for him. Angered, she challenges him, asking why she should wait. As she turns to leave, the young man pulls her close, pinning her against a wall, and passionately kisses her. Initially surprised, she soon yields to the intense embrace. Observing this scene unfold, Mu Tingzhou watches with a pained expression.

Later, Ming Wei sends Mu Tingzhou a video of a less intense version of the kiss scene, explaining that they will use a cheat cut, so no actual kissing will occur. She hopes this news will please him, but his only reply is a curt "Good night." Confused, Ming Wei wonders if he is either furious or simply indifferent.

Mu Tingzhou, on the other hand, struggles with his own thoughts; while there is less kissing, there is still a kiss scene, and he believes he must suppress his displeasure to make her happy. Both of them are caught in a spiral of misunderstanding. Still restless, Ming Wei calls Mu Tingzhou and tells him a story about a bear experiencing honey for the first time to emphasize that first experiences are always the most special.

She points out that her co-star, Chen Zhang, has had many on-screen kisses, while she, apart from one instance involving a protective film, has never truly kissed someone. She expresses her reluctance to give her first kiss to a performance. Mu Tingzhou, dense to her true meaning, offers to prepare a protective film for her. Frustrated, Ming Wei retorts that the upcoming kiss scene is too intense for a film, abruptly hanging up and muttering about his lack of understanding.

Puzzled by Ming Wei's words, Mu Tingzhou turns to online forums for advice and finally grasps her underlying desire. Meanwhile, a troubled Ming Wei steps into the yard for a walk. Spotting Mu Tingzhou, she grows flustered and quickly retreats to her room. Moments later, he knocks on her door, wishing to speak. Nervously clutching her script, Ming Wei feigns nonchalance as she invites him in.

With a determined gaze, Mu Tingzhou approaches Ming Wei, declaring he is unwilling to let her give her precious first kiss to a performance. He takes the script from her hands and asks if she would be willing to give it to him instead. Ming Wei playfully tells him to turn off the lights, but then remarks that it might be too dark. Mu Tingzhou obliges by lighting a candle, creating an intimate ambiance.

With a hint of playfulness, Ming Wei suggests they "follow the script" as they move towards a wall. Mu Tingzhou asks if she is ready. When she hesitates, he gently asks if she is unwilling. Citing online advice he researched, he then asks, "They say every girl wants to give her first kiss to her boyfriend. So. . . am I your boyfriend now?" Ming Wei inwardly approves as they share a passionate kiss.

Afterwards, she playfully comments on the pleasant scent of his lip balm, and Mu Tingzhou offers to send her the link if she likes it. After the kiss scene for the drama is concluded, Ming Wei notices Mu Tingzhou is nowhere to be found. Before she finds him, her co-star Chen Zhang approaches her. He good-naturedly admits defeat in vying for her affection but sincerely offers his friendship, promising to always be there for her.

Ming Wei then locates Mu Tingzhou and playfully pulls his hand, inviting him to go home. Mu Tingzhou clutches his chest, complaining of a "heartache." Concerned, Ming Wei assumes he has a heart condition and insists on taking him to the hospital. Mu Tingzhou pulls her back, clarifying that it is not a physical ailment but a "sickness of the heart." Ming Wei immediately understands, laughing as she realizes he is jealous.

Caught, Mu Tingzhou looks away, unable to meet her gaze. Delighted to see him jealous for the first time, Ming Wei assures him that the kiss on set was fake and promises never to take on another kiss scene again, which visibly brightens his demeanor. At dinner, Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou openly display their affection, to the resigned amusement of Xiao Zhao and Ming Qiao.

Mimicking their behavior, Ming Qiao serves Xiao Zhao soup, blowing on it to cool it, and later offers him a peeled shrimp. Xiao Zhao initially thinks she is just teasing the couple but gradually senses a deeper meaning in her actions. Later, Ming Qiao invites Xiao Zhao to a concert on New Year's Eve. He initially declines, claiming he has plans, but eventually agrees when she persists.

Xiao Zhao then internally grapples with his decision, recalling his promise to Ming Wei to maintain distance from Ming Qiao but rationalizing that a concert is harmless. He reflects on how, despite being a seasoned and confident individual, he finds himself unexpectedly flustered by Ming Qiao. Back home, Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou discuss Ming Qiao and Xiao Zhao's unusual closeness.

Ming Wei expresses concern that Ming Qiao, who recently confessed to having a crush on someone, might have misunderstood Xiao Zhao's attentiveness. Mu Tingzhou assures Ming Wei he will talk to Xiao Zhao. Later, as Ming Wei prepares for bed, Mu Tingzhou offers to help her remove her makeup. As he cleanses her lips, he succumbs to his emotions and kisses her. Ming Wei playfully warns that he will make her lips sore if he continues.

He admits his guilt but confesses he can't control himself. She then playfully accuses him of only kissing her lip balm, not her lips. He refutes this, claiming the lip balm was on the inside of her lips as well, and demonstrates what he means with another kiss. Mu Tingzhou then kneels, confessing his growing greed and lack of control. Ming Wei asks if he will repeat his transgression, to which he replies that it depends on her punishment.

She declares that if he kisses her without permission again, his punishment will be to pamper her like a princess for the rest of his life. Thrilled, Mu Tingzhou kisses her once more, eager for such a punishment. Taking advantage of a two-day break in filming, Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou enjoy a leisurely date in the park.

Mu Tingzhou asks if Ming Wei can ride a bicycle, and she confidently affirms her skill, even boasting she can ride without holding the handlebars. They ride together, laughing, as Ming Wei instructs him to pedal like her. Later, they stop for street food, with Ming Wei enthusiastically sharing stinky tofu and chitterling skewers, and Mu Tingzhou tenderly wiping her mouth. Their carefree interactions make them appear like any ordinary couple, seemingly forgetting Mu Tingzhou's status as a renowned Best Actor.

Episode 15 Recap

Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou settled into a sweet life as a couple, though their ordinary moments, like sharing a meal, were often interrupted by the need to avoid hidden cameras and paparazzi. On New Year’s Eve, Mu Tingzhou mysteriously invited Ming Wei to his room, which she found filled with red balloons and various gifts, resembling a traditional wedding chamber.

Her attention was drawn to a red box, which Mu Tingzhou opened to reveal their Written Marriage Proposal, a formal betrothal document. Although deeply moved, Ming Wei couldn't shake her concern about Mu Yun’s eventual disappearance. Understanding her fears, Mu Tingzhou explained that the gifts were merely a bride-price and their official marriage would only occur after she formally replied to the proposal, giving her full control.

At that moment, Ming Wei felt she truly grasped the joy of mutual love. Mu Tingzhou then presented her with a hair clasp as a New Year's gift, explaining that in the Ning Dynasty, it was a traditional symbol of betrothal. In return, Ming Wei gave him a scent bag she had made herself, adorned with a hand-tied knot. Mu Tingzhou cherished it as the most precious gift he had ever received.

For Ming Wei, his acceptance fulfilled a wish for Princess Ming Hua, recalling how Mu Yun had once cruelly rejected the princess's identical gift. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhao met up with Ming Qiao to attend a band concert. Afterward, noticing he was cold, Ming Qiao took off her own scarf and wrapped it around him. The sudden intimacy left Xiao Zhao flustered.

Later, over a meal, Xiao Zhao clarified that since Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei were together, he considered Ming Qiao a younger sister. This statement instantly dampened Ming Qiao’s spirits. The next morning, after seeing Ming Qiao’s happy social media post about the concert, Ming Wei urged Xiao Zhao to keep his distance from her sister to avoid any misunderstandings.

Mu Tingzhou reassured her that although Xiao Zhao could be reckless, he was a good person at heart and would maintain proper boundaries, having already defined their relationship as sibling-like. Later, on the film set, their discussion was interrupted by a woman, brought by Xiao Zhao, who excitedly rushed to embrace Mu Tingzhou. Startled, Mu Tingzhou gently pushed her away, stating he was Mu Yun, not Mu Tingzhou, leaving Ming Wei in shock.

Xiao Zhao awkwardly introduced the woman as his biological sister, Xu Lin, explaining that she and Mu Tingzhou grew up together. He also revealed his real name was Xu Run, the son of the Xu Group's president, and he had become an agent to escape the family business. Back at home, Xu Lin and the housekeeper had prepared a feast, but an upset Mu Tingzhou demanded she leave. Xu Lin then pulled Ming Wei aside for a private talk.

She explained that the Xu and Mu families were old friends and that she and Mu Tingzhou had promised to travel the world together once she returned from studying abroad.

She pointedly told Ming Wei that the sweet time she was enjoying with the Grand Tutor came at the expense of Mu Tingzhou's own life, arguing that Ming Wei's role-playing was not only failing to awaken his memories but was causing him to retreat further into a fantasy, hindering his recovery. Ming Wei was thrown into a deep internal conflict. She had been hired to cure Mu Tingzhou but now selfishly wished for their current life to continue.

Mu Tingzhou comforted her, affirming that their mutual love wasn't wrong. However, Ming Wei felt immense guilt, believing it was unfair to erase Mu Tingzhou's existence for her own happiness. Later, Xiao Zhao found Ming Wei and admitted that while he was unsure of Xu Lin and Mu Tingzhou's past, he always felt their bond was more like that of siblings.

He was certain, however, that Mu Tingzhou's feelings for Ming Wei during the filming of "The Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" were genuinely romantic. Still, Ming Wei sided with Xu Lin's point, confessing her self-blame and her struggle to let go of the relationship. Xiao Zhao offered his support, assuring her he wouldn't take sides. The next morning, Ming Wei felt a pang of sadness seeing Xu Lin bonding with Mu Tingzhou’s parents.

They revealed their plan: Xu Lin would take Mu Tingzhou to places from their past to stimulate his memory. Though uneasy, Ming Wei couldn't object. However, Mu Tingzhou appeared and adamantly refused, declaring he didn't know Xu Lin and his only duty was to protect the princess. Realizing he would only listen to Ming Wei, his mother and Xu Lin pleaded with her to persuade him. Seeing the parents' desperation, Ming Wei reluctantly agreed. This forced her to a crossroads when Mu Tingzhou asked if she truly wanted him to become Mu Tingzhou again, forgetting everything they had shared and becoming strangers.

Episode 16 Recap

Mu Yun wanders in a dreamlike state across a shimmering mirror lake, startled to see another face reflected back at him. This enigmatic figure remains just out of reach, leaving Mu Yun consumed by confusion and anxiety as he desperately urges the reflection not to disappear. Ming Wei visits Mu Yun, who questions if she truly wishes for him to revert to Mu Tingzhou, severing their connection.

She passionately insists she doesn't want him to leave her but then acknowledges the profound selfishness of her desire. For her own love, she would be depriving Mu Tingzhou of his chance to recover, his relationship with Xu Lin, and his elderly parents of their son. Her conscience, she explains, cannot bear such a burden. She suggests that if he is truly Mu Yun, he should revisit his past with Xu Lin to prove his identity.

Mu Yun agrees but stipulates that Ming Wei must accompany him. She consents, pondering if witnessing his past with another woman is a penance for her own selfish desires. Xu Lin excitedly guides Mu Yun and Ming Wei through places she once shared with Mu Tingzhou, narrating their history. She points out a bookstore where they studied and a basketball court where he played, recalling how he once used her as a "girlfriend" to ward off other admirers.

Mu Yun, however, remembers none of it, stating plainly, "That was not me." Xu Lin responds with patience, attributing his lack of memory to his recovery. Ming Wei silently observes their interactions, feeling like a third party and growing distressed, wondering about her place in Mu Tingzhou's life if his memories were to fully return. Later, aiming to cheer up Ming Wei, Mu Yun offers her a bag of preserved plums.

The gesture, however, triggers a strong sense of deja vu in Xu Lin, who recalls that Mu Tingzhou used to give her preserved plums—her favorite snack—in the same distinct way. Believing he has remembered, Xu Lin presses him, but Mu Yun appears genuinely confused. He turns his full attention to Ming Wei, opening the plums for her. When Ming Wei quietly asks if he recalled anything, Mu Yun insists he feels no sense of forgotten memories.

Ming Wei says she would be happy if he recovered, but Mu Yun stresses that he wants her to be genuinely happy, not just for his sake. In his thoughts, Mu Yun reaffirms his deep possessiveness over Ming Wei, grappling with whether he is an entity within Mu Tingzhou or the other way around. Ming Wei later breaks down in a drunken, tearful confession to her sister, Ming Qiao.

She confesses her profound love for Mu Yun, asserting that she has never loved anyone so deeply and that her past affections for Mu Tingzhou and Cheng Yao pale in comparison. She declares her unwillingness to separate from Mu Yun and her desire to be selfish for once. Mu Yun arrives, finds a distraught Ming Wei, and carries her home.

The following morning, he playfully teases her about her drunken antics and reveals he cleaned her makeup off while she slept. He then proposes they elope to escape their complicated lives. When Ming Wei raises practical concerns, Mu Yun reveals he has meticulously planned their escape. He suggests they depart after her current project concludes, assuring her they can maintain contact with their families and eventually return.

He enthusiastically outlines plans for their new life, considering her preferences and even suggesting they could start a school or he could resume his translation work. Ming Wei is moved, but an underlying sadness lingers within her. That night, Ming Wei is awakened by a vivid nightmare in which she, Mu Yun, and their child are a happy family in a field.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blows sand in her eyes, and when she can see again, the joyful scene has vanished, leaving her with the unsettling feeling that the happiness was an illusion. The next day, as filming nears its end, Ming Wei is unsettled by Mu Yun's absence from the set. Her manager, Shen Su, calls to discuss new roles, but Ming Wei expresses a desire to take a break.

Shen Su bluntly warns her that Mu Tingzhou's eventual return is inevitable and her relationship with Mu Yun may be fleeting. She urges Ming Wei to prioritize her career for her own security. That evening, Ming Wei returns home to find the living room romantically lit by candles. Mu Yun kneels before her, presents a ring, and proposes. Overwhelmed, Ming Wei takes the ring, places it on her finger, and asks him if it's beautiful.

Overjoyed, Mu Yun reaffirms his love, declaring their meeting was destiny. Suddenly, Ming Wei’s expression grows tense, and she urgently insists they leave immediately. Mu Yun readily agrees, but she takes charge, deciding to handle all the arrangements herself. A kind villager hands Ming Wei and Mu Yun the keys to a charming, old-fashioned courtyard house, assuring them of their privacy.

As they begin to settle in, Ming Wei affectionately teases Mu Yun for his clumsy sweeping, noting his inexperience with chores. When he apologizes for the humble setting, she assures him she finds it wonderful. That evening, they prepare and share a simple meal, savoring the quiet intimacy like a newlywed couple.

Episode 17 Recap

As the evening breeze gently swept by, Mu Tingzhou slowly drifted off to sleep in a rocking chair, murmuring softly. Ming Wei, curious, leaned closer and heard him calling out for his mom and dad. Her expression turned sorrowful, her feelings deeply complicated. She gazed at his face, lost in thought, knowing this moment signified his real memories were returning. Though she had long anticipated this day, she hadn't realized how quickly it would arrive.

Ming Wei embraced Mu Tingzhou, a gesture of both comfort and farewell. Ming Qiao calls Xiao Zhao, asking why he's been ignoring her. After briefly inquiring about her sister's relationship with Mu Tingzhou, Ming Qiao pivots, suggesting to Xiao Zhao that the right person for him might already be nearby. Xiao Zhao understands her hint but is saved from responding by a call from Shen Su.

Shen Su is anxiously trying to locate Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei, but no one can reach them as their phones are off. Later, a foreign couple approaches Mu Tingzhou, asking for directions in English. He initially doesn't react, prompting them to repeat the question. Mu Tingzhou then responds fluently in English, providing clear directions. After the couple departs, he stares wide-eyed, amazed at his newfound ability to speak a foreign language.

Ming Wei, overhearing the exchange, feels a pang of sadness but conceals her feelings. The next day, Mu Tingzhou awakens to find Ming Wei gone, with only her ring left behind. He rushes to the film set, where he sees Ming Wei and Chen Zhang shooting a wedding night scene. The sight momentarily disorients him, triggering a memory of Princess Ming Hua declaring to the Grand Tutor that she would set her wedding date on the same day as his.

In a palace-like setting, Mu Tingzhou, as the Grand Tutor, gently presents the ring to Ming Wei, reminding her that she forgot to wear it. Ming Wei refuses the ring, explaining she wouldn't be able to face the real Mu Tingzhou if she wore it. Desperate, the Grand Tutor questions why she only fears the actor and not his own feelings.

He pleads that whether he is destined to disappear or to live a long life, he doesn't want to give her up and they should cherish their limited time together. With red-rimmed eyes, Ming Wei returns a precious white jade hairpin to him, feeling it is too valuable to keep. Mu Tingzhou asks if there is truly no hope for them.

Ming Wei, turning away, explains that she believes he only cares for Princess Ming Hua, and his kindness is a result of mistaking her for the princess. She fears that continuing the charade will only give her, a normal person, a "Princess Syndrome" and that ending things quickly is better for them both. Mu Tingzhou clarifies that while he initially respected her as the princess, he fell in love with her true self—her innocence and diligence.

His affection is for her, not her title. Seeing her resolve, he lets her go, vowing to no longer be by her side and wishing her well. Overwhelmed, Ming Wei packs her bags. Believing that everything in the house was prepared by the Grand Tutor for the princess, she takes only her own clothes, leaving the rest behind. However, she takes a peony plant, a symbol of her connection to their shared past.

Later, Mu Tingzhou walks through the now-empty places, sensing her lingering presence. When he discovers the peony plant is gone, he finally breaks down in tears. Worried her sister might suffer a similar heartbreak, Ming Wei gently asks about Ming Qiao's love life. Ming Qiao confidently states that she doesn't care if her feelings are reciprocated; if she likes someone, she will pursue them fiercely.

She reasons that since love can cause pain either way, it's better to give it her all. This conversation galvanizes Ming Qiao into action. She arranges to meet Xiao Zhao and professes her feelings by singing a song to him in public. Back home, as Ming Wei tries to encourage herself in the mirror, a downcast Ming Qiao returns and admits she just confessed her feelings. Ming Wei immediately guesses the person is Xiao Zhao and anxiously asks what happened.

Episode 18 Recap

Princess Ming Hua, despite being pregnant, found no joy in anticipating a new life. As she gazed upon the vibrant spring garden, her servants lamented her unhappy marriage, a stark contrast to the loving facade she maintained. The moment prompted memories of her first encounter with Mu Yun. Meanwhile, Ming Qiao confessed her feelings to Xiao Zhao, but he impatiently dismissed her and left. Ming Qiao pursued him, only to be met with a blunt "I don't like you."

Later, Ming Wei expressed her disapproval of the relationship, cautioning Ming Qiao to keep her distance from Xiao Zhao, who, despite being single, was known for always being surrounded by women. However, Ming Qiao was undeterred. She interpreted his unusual rejection as a sign that she was special to him, believing that his refusal to engage, unlike with other girls, highlighted how much he truly cherished her.

She insisted that she was grown up and wished to resolve the matter herself. Ming Wei arrived for a photo shoot, only to discover that Wang Yingying had unexpectedly taken over as the lead. Confused, Ming Wei sought out her agent, Shen Su, for an explanation. Shen Su revealed that the client had made a last-minute change.

Though Shen Su tried to comfort Ming Wei, telling her that such setbacks were common, Ming Wei resolved to rely on her own strength rather than borrowed fame. Elsewhere, Wang Yingying expressed her satisfaction to the man who had arranged the swap, pleased to have taken the job from Ming Wei. Feeling unlucky in both her career and love life, Ming Wei vented her frustration by furiously cleaning her apartment.

In a parallel moment, Mu Tingzhou was also found obsessively cleaning his home. His sister, Xu Lin, arrived and suggested he travel to the UK for treatment with a top neurologist she knew. Mu Tingzhou firmly refused. Xu Lin suspected he was afraid that recovering his memories would prevent him from continuing his life as the Grand Tutor. She offered to help him clean, admitting her own love life was also in ruins.

Restless and unwilling to give up, Ming Qiao went to Mu Tingzhou's house looking for Xiao Zhao. When the staff announced "Miss Ming," Mu Tingzhou assumed it was Ming Wei, but was surprised to see Ming Qiao. He initially thought she was there on her sister's behalf.

Mu Tingzhou admitted his feelings for "Her Highness" had not changed, and Ming Qiao encouraged him to pursue Ming Wei, insisting he still had a chance and that they shouldn't waste their lives in sadness. Seeing a flicker of hope, Mu Tingzhou offered Ming Qiao his phone to call Xiao Zhao, believing his friend would answer his call.

On the phone, Xiao Zhao attempted to deter Ming Qiao by claiming he preferred "gorgeous and sexy" women who enjoyed nightlife, implying she was not his type. Determined to prove him wrong, Ming Qiao donned a striking outfit and went to the nightclub where he was. Though Xiao Zhao feigned indifference, he instinctively intervened when another man, Qi Yu, began harassing her. Ming Qiao then embraced Xiao Zhao and, hearing his heart pound, excitedly pointed out his true feelings.

The seasoned player was visibly flustered by the encounter, later finding himself unable to stop thinking about her. Ming Wei thought she had composed herself, but broke down upon hearing her father's voice on the phone. Understanding her distress, he gently led her home for the upcoming Spring Festival. While watching her mother skillfully make dumplings, Ming Wei was reminded of a time when Mu Tingzhou had adeptly done the same for her.

On New Year's Eve, while her family was joyous, the Mu family home was eerily quiet. Xu Lin tried to coax Mu Tingzhou out of his study to join his parents for dinner, but he remained secluded. That night, Ming Wei anxiously waited for a call from Mu Tingzhou, who was also hesitating to contact her. When her phone finally rang, she answered immediately, only to discover it was her pushy suitor, Cheng Yao. She abruptly hung up.

Her phone rang again shortly after; annoyed and assuming it was Cheng Yao, she rejected the call, unaware it was actually from Mu Tingzhou. Moments later, Cheng Yao called yet again, professing his enduring affection and telling her he wanted her now that Mu Tingzhou had left her. Disgusted, Ming Wei hung up on him.

When her phone rang a fourth time, she answered angrily, only to find it was, at last, Mu Tingzhou, who simply wished to offer his "Highness" New Year's greetings. Meanwhile, Ming Qiao messaged Xiao Zhao, informing him that she was spending the New Year with her sister and asking about his plans.

Episode 19 Recap

At a bridge, Mu Yun and the Princess watched a beautiful fireworks display. Mu Yun remarked that it was the most beautiful he had ever seen, though he recalled an even grander ceremony three years prior upon his arrival in the capital. He remembered being told it was a birthday gift from the Emperor to Princess Ming Hua. He then recalled the Princess's sentiment that the person one shares the moment with is more important than the fireworks themselves.

Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei exchanged New Year wishes over the phone. Though their conversation was formally polite, their deep affection was evident. Mu Tingzhou assured Ming Wei that he was well as long as she was, and that she remained his only concern regardless of their situation. Ming Wei, in turn, urged him to take care of himself and confide in Xiao Zhao if he was troubled.

In a separate call, Ming Qiao wished Xiao Zhao a Happy New Year, hoping for his success in his career and love life. Uncharacteristically insecure, Xiao Zhao questioned if he was worthy of her, admitting he had never felt so unsure or unable to be cool. Ming Qiao noted that this was what it truly felt like to like someone. Later that evening, Xu Lin arrived at the Mu family home to visit Mu Tingzhou.

When she found him, he told her that the Mu Tingzhou she was looking for was not there. Adapting to his persona, Xu Lin addressed him as the Grand Tutor and asked if the fireworks in the Ning Dynasty were as beautiful. Mu Tingzhou described the magnificent palace fireworks, recalling how the young Princess Ming Hua was always the happiest during those displays.

Xu Lin expressed her contentment in watching the fireworks with him and confessed her envy for Ming Wei, who had received a true and genuine love—something she also longed for. Upon arriving at her home, Ming Wei was ambushed by reporters questioning her about Mu Tingzhou's health and their professional collaborations. Her father, angered by the intrusion, declared that his famous and talented daughter did not need to rely on anyone else for opportunities.

Ming Wei calmed him, stating her renewed determination to move past recent sorrows and focus on her next role. She promised her pleased father and Ming Qiao that she would aim to win the Grand Slam Best Actress award. For several days, Mu Tingzhou secluded himself in his room, meticulously carving a piece of wood. Lacking the courage to deliver the finished sculpture himself, he entrusted Auntie Zhao with the task.

Meanwhile, Ming Wei photographed a blooming flower in her home but hesitated to share her joy with Mu Tingzhou, questioning the point of it. Just then, Auntie Zhao arrived with the gift, revealing Mu Tingzhou's sleepless and secluded state, and the new injuries on his hands from his constant work. She pleaded with Ming Wei to give him another chance, emphasizing his profound care for her.

Ming Wei opened the box to find a detailed wooden carving of the Grand Tutor, Mu Yun, kneeling. With it was a note declaring his unwavering commitment: "Today I, Mu Yun, pledge to Your Highness that no matter what happens, my devotion to you will never change." Overcome with emotion, Ming Wei went to the Mu family home and found a frail-looking Mu Tingzhou in his bed.

When Mu Tingzhou awoke to find Ming Wei by his side, he was filled with relief and emotion. Fearing she was a dream, he tearfully reached out to hold her hand tightly. Confirming she was real, he pulled her into a fierce embrace, confessing how he had missed her. Ming Wei comforted him, assuring him it was not a dream. She declared her decision to seize the present rather than sacrifice it for an unknown future.

As she helped him groom, they shared a look of deep understanding, resolving to take a chance on their relationship. Mu Tingzhou shared that he once dreamt Ming Wei hated him, a memory that now made sense. He believed his purpose in this world was to atone for past regrets. He then formally proposed, kneeling and asking Ming Wei to marry him, even if he couldn't give her a palace in this life. Ming Wei softly accepted.

At Ming Qiao's yoga studio, a new student named Lu arrived—the same woman Ming Qiao had seen with Xiao Zhao. During a difficult pose, Lu pretended to struggle and then fell, falsely accusing Ming Qiao of pushing her. Xiao Zhao immediately entered, sternly told Ming Qiao to be silent, and escorted the feigning Lu out. Outside, Xiao Zhao thanked Lu for helping him with the act, admitting he owed her a favor.

Realizing Xiao Zhao's deliberate manipulation, an indignant Ming Qiao went to a bar and ordered the strongest liquor. The man who had previously flirted with her approached, complimenting her. As Ming Qiao was on the phone with her mother, vaguely mentioning she might bring someone home soon, Xiao Zhao appeared and tried to stop her from drinking more. Ming Qiao confronted him, calling him a jerk and accusing him of intentionally hurting her.

She tearfully questioned why he, who advised Mu Tingzhou to live in the moment, refused to give their own relationship a chance. Acknowledging his flaws, Xiao Zhao wordlessly lifted her and carried her from the bar.

Episode 20 Recap

Mu Tingzhou arrived at the Ming family home with an astonishing display of bride-prices, including a multitude of gold bars, which drew a large crowd of curious neighbors. Addressing Ming Wei's parents, he apologized for not securing a venerable matchmaker as custom dictates, explaining that he had to come personally.

He acknowledged that ancient rituals for marrying a princess required livestock like sheep and horses, which he was unable to provide, and humbly requested their understanding for any perceived lack of traditional etiquette. He then offered to immediately supplement the gifts if anything was deemed insufficient. Noticing his long journey, Ming Wei's mother suggested they rest and have tea while she and Ming Wei prepared food for them.

While the adults sat in a formal silence, Ming Wei's mother pulled her aside to privately ascertain her true feelings. She questioned if Ming Wei had truly decided to spend her life with him, highlighting his current amnesia and recalling how his condition had previously led to their breakup. Ming Wei confessed that she was aware of her mother's concerns but refused to let potential future issues overshadow the precious time they had together.

She revealed that the pain of their past separation had, in fact, solidified her deep love and commitment to Mu Tingzhou. Her mother, though understanding, voiced persistent worries about Mu Tingzhou regaining his memories and potentially forgetting their relationship, urging her to prepare for the worst. Ming Wei reassured her, expressing unwavering belief that their shared experiences were real and would not be erased, even if his memory returned.

Ming Wei's father, despite acknowledging Mu Tingzhou's wealth, sincerity, and character, expressed deep concern over how distraught Ming Wei had been after their previous breakup, stating his reluctance to entrust his daughter to him again. Mu Tingzhou humbly took responsibility, vowing never to make Ming Wei cry again. Pressed on how he, as a public figure, would ensure their marriage wouldn't be swayed by external pressures, Mu Tingzhou immediately posted a declaration on Weibo.

In the post, he announced that their families were connected through marriage, tagged Ming Wei, proclaimed her his "princess forever," and asserted that his resolve to marry her was absolute and impervious to any outside influence. Convinced by this public display of commitment, Ming Wei's father enthusiastically slammed the table, declaring his acceptance of Mu Tingzhou as his son-in-law. Ming Wei led Mu Tingzhou to her bedroom to share insights into her past.

She showed him a beloved doll from her childhood, a gift from her father that she never let her sister play with. He complimented her careful nature. She then presented a photograph of herself at six years old, which he called the most beautiful he had ever seen. As he looked through her old foreign language books, his attention was caught by the quote, "For love is as strong as death."

As he fluently recited the English phrase, a fleeting image from his past flashed through his mind, causing him a moment of dazed contemplation, which he quickly dismissed as nothing when Ming Wei asked if he was alright. Meanwhile, Ming Qiao awoke to find Xiao Zhao by her side, still harboring resentment from the previous night. When she mentioned plans to go to another party with a new acquaintance, Qi Yu, Xiao Zhao's composure shattered.

He angrily demanded she delete Qi Yu's contact information. Ming Qiao defiantly challenged his right to control her, asserting that only her boyfriend held such authority. In response, Xiao Zhao suddenly kissed her, admitting he had to act quickly to prevent her from being claimed by someone else. Now a couple, his immediate concern turned to how he would explain their new relationship to Ming Wei, while Ming Qiao playfully teased him about his past flirtatious behavior.

Mu Tingzhou's public announcement ignited a media frenzy. His manager, Shen Su, called Ming Wei in a panic, and upon their arrival at his villa, a swarm of reporters besieged their car. Inside, Mu Tingzhou's parents angrily confronted Xiao Zhao for allowing the situation to escalate. Mu Tingzhou interjected, taking full responsibility. His mother, however, turned her fury on Ming Wei, accusing her of exploiting Mu Tingzhou's amnesia and offering her money to leave him.

Mu Tingzhou fiercely defended Ming Wei. His father intervened more calmly, urging Ming Wei, as a rational person, not to be misled by his son's illness. Xiao Zhao stepped in, promising that he and Shen Su would manage the crisis. Later, Shen Su confronted the couple, expressing her strong disapproval of their relationship and criticizing their decision to go public.

Mu Tingzhou countered that secrecy would imply they had something to hide and that a public declaration would solidify their union against interference. Shen Su argued that because of his amnesia, the public would condemn Ming Wei, not him, for having impure motives. Mu Tingzhou offered to post again, claiming he forced her, but Shen Su stopped him, suggesting they separate temporarily to let the public outcry subside.

Ming Wei then appealed to Shen Su and Xiao Zhao, reminding them that their previous breakup stemmed from these same issues, an experience that taught her to cherish their present happiness. She pleaded for their support. While Xiao Zhao was moved and agreed to focus on damage control, Shen Su remained adamant, refusing to consent.

As this unfolded, a distraught woman named Wang Linlin attempted to force her way into the house, calling Ming Wei a liar, but was stopped by a man who warned her that her outburst would only alienate Mu Tingzhou further. As Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei enthusiastically immersed themselves in wedding preparations, he shared his plans to turn his study into her personal sanctuary and to handcraft a unique crib for their future child.

During their conversation, he suddenly clutched his head, experiencing a dizzy spell, and muttered to himself to hold on and not be swayed by a "heart demon." Later, he showed her the third-floor bedroom, reaffirming it as her private space, and promised that unlike the "Best Actor" persona from their first, awkward photo together, he would now listen to her in all things.

While preparing for the wedding with her sister, Ming Wei confessed to feeling a mix of joy, nervousness, and disbelief. Ming Qiao asked if she considered "Grand Tutor" and "Mu Tingzhou" to be two different people. Ming Wei affirmed that she now saw them as distinct individuals, declaring that the man she loved was "Mu Yun," who was perfect and had eyes only for her. Ming Qiao, seeing her sister's deep love, expressed her heartfelt happiness for her.

The night before their wedding registration, Mu Tingzhou promised Ming Wei that he would have all his documents ready and pledged his unwavering love, asking her to trust him no matter what. She promised she would. Elsewhere, Xiao Zhao told Ming Qiao he was waiting until after the registration to tell Ming Wei about their own new relationship. The next morning, Ming Wei waited at the Civil Affairs Bureau, but by 8:30 AM, Mu Tingzhou was uncharacteristically late.

Suddenly, Xiao Zhao rushed in, urging her to come to the hospital immediately. He explained that Mu Tingzhou had not woken up that morning and, despite all his vital signs being normal, remained unresponsive. Distraught and blaming herself, Ming Wei rushed to his side. At the hospital, as Xiao Zhao went to consult the doctor again, Mu Tingzhou finally stirred and opened his eyes.

Episode 21 Recap

In a dreamlike sequence, Mu Tingzhou, dressed in a sharp suit, and Ming Wei, in a pristine white wedding gown, slowly walk towards each other, their gazes intertwining as their joyful wedding photos are taken. Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou awakens in a hospital. When his eyes meet Ming Wei's, they are filled with unfamiliarity and caution.

Ming Wei and Xiao Zhao are astonished to realize that the Best Actor, Mu Tingzhou, has recovered his original memories but has no recollection of being the Grand Tutor. Crestfallen, Ming Wei steps back, knowing this day might come but unprepared for its sudden arrival.

When Xu Lin and Mu Tingzhou's parents rush in to consult with the doctor, Ming Wei instinctively tries to follow, but Xu Lin blocks her path, stating that the doctor wishes to speak only with family members. The doctor informs them that Mu Tingzhou is physically fine and can be discharged, but his memory has reverted to the night of a dinner with Orlando last year.

He has forgotten everything since, including the entire filming of "The Grand Chief Cabinet Minister" and his time as the Grand Tutor. While Mu Tingzhou's recovery is a relief, Xiao Zhao understands this memory gap is devastating for Ming Wei. Despite Xu Lin's attempt to dismiss her, Xiao Zhao insists that Ming Wei, who had the most contact with Mu Tingzhou during his amnesia, is crucial for briefing him on the lost time to prevent further confusion.

Mu Tingzhou's mother agrees, and Xu Lin leaves with her. Xiao Zhao recounts the past several months to a bewildered Mu Tingzhou. He explains that after a car accident, Mu Tingzhou developed amnesia and believed he was the Grand Tutor, persistently pursuing Ming Wei, whom he mistook for the Princess.

Showing him videos of his past behavior, which Mu Tingzhou dismisses as part of a film, Xiao Zhao details how their relationship blossomed, leading to a gift of a jade hair clasp as a token of love. However, when Xu Lin returned claiming to be his childhood sweetheart, Ming Wei, feeling the relationship was too complicated, broke up with the Grand Tutor. Heartbroken, he secluded himself, carving wood day and night, and sent her a mysterious gift on Valentine's Day.

Touched, Ming Wei stayed by his side all night. Upon waking, the Grand Tutor discussed marriage, traveled to her hometown to propose, and publicly announced their relationship. Today was meant to be their wedding registration day. Xiao Zhao also shows him the third floor, which the Grand Tutor had turned into "the princess's domain," further proving the depth of his delusion.

Frustrated, Mu Tingzhou questions why Xiao Zhao didn't stop him from such "absurd" behavior, to which Xiao Zhao retorts that the Grand Tutor's stubbornness was identical to his own, making it impossible to reason with him. Later, Ming Wei confronts Mu Tingzhou directly, assuring him that she clearly distinguishes between him and the Grand Tutor and has no intention of clinging to him or his fame. Impressed by her decisiveness, Mu Tingzhou offers to compensate her.

Ming Wei requests only that he forget their shared past, as she claims she no longer remembers it. Feigning a dead phone, she borrows his and deletes him as a WeChat contact. When he asks what she did, she candidly admits to it. Auntie Zhao catches up with Ming Wei to console her, asserting that despite Mu Tingzhou's fame and the countless women he's met, his feelings for Ming Wei were unique.

Convinced their destiny is intertwined, she believes he will inevitably fall for Ming Wei again, as he and the Grand Tutor are fundamentally the same person. Back in his room, Mu Tingzhou scrolls through online photos and videos of himself with Ming Wei, finding it hard to believe he acted so "absurdly." He finds the wedding announcement he had posted as the Grand Tutor and, without hesitation, deletes it.

While a small action for him, it becomes the catalyst for widespread rumors surrounding the minor actress, Ming Wei. Mu Tingzhou's lawyer contacts him about a legal matter: the Grand Tutor, believing himself to be Mu Yun, had arranged to transfer all his substantial assets and properties to Ming Wei, a process requiring her confirmation. A stunned Mu Tingzhou calls her in.

Ming Wei vehemently refuses the gift, stating she had no knowledge of it and would not have accepted it even if he hadn't regained his memory. Mu Tingzhou is shocked to see his authentic signature and seal on the documents. As Ming Wei prepares to leave, Auntie Zhao presents her with items the Grand Tutor had purchased for her, including clothes and a zither.

Filled with emotion, Ming Wei explains that with the Grand Tutor gone, these things no longer hold meaning for her and leaves them behind. One day, Ming Wei receives a peony and a handwritten letter sent by the Grand Tutor, Mu Yun, before he "disappeared." In the letter, he calls their time together the most cherished of his life and promises to protect her always.

He hopes the peony will watch over her in his absence, urging her to prioritize her happiness. Reading his words, Ming Wei, who thought she was strong, breaks down in tears. Exhausted, she falls into a nightmare where a cold Mu Yun declares he is returning to his own world, stating they are "different types of people" and their paths must diverge. She wakes up sobbing as her sister, Ming Qiao, enters.

Soon after, Mu Tingzhou and Xu Lin are photographed together, sparking online gossip that Xu Lin is his rightful girlfriend and labeling Ming Wei a mistress. Chen Zhang arrives to cheer Ming Wei up. Meanwhile, having seen the news, Ming Qiao confronts Mu Tingzhou, demanding to know why Ming Wei is being slandered after selflessly helping him.

Xu Lin dismisses her, but Ming Qiao passionately retorts that they are responsible for the damage to Ming Wei's reputation, which resulted from his "brain problem," and that her sister's only mistake was falling in love with the Grand Tutor. Ming Wei laments to Chen Zhang about the constant online ridicule and intrusive reporters, thanking him for his unwavering support. He reassures her he will always be there for her.

Later, on a phone call, Chen Zhang confirms his suspicion that someone is deliberately manipulating the narrative to ensure that even a casual outing between Mu Tingzhou and Xu Lin is twisted to slander Ming Wei.

Episode 22 Recap

Grand Tutor meticulously cultivated numerous flowers and constructed an elegant flower room as a gift for Ming Wei. As Ming Wei entered, dressed in a gown for an upcoming dinner, the Grand Tutor was captivated, remarking that even the most beautiful flowers faded in her presence. He complimented her for wearing white, noting it gave her a pure, ethereal aura that suited her beauty and elegance.

He then playfully insisted she should only wear white for him before leaning in to kiss her. Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou found it perplexing that he and Xu Lin were being mistakenly linked as a couple in entertainment news, something that had never happened despite their long history of attending events together. He directly questioned Xu Lin, asking if she had provided misleading information to reporters. Xu Lin vehemently denied any involvement, expressing disbelief that Mu Tingzhou would suspect her.

However, she admitted to not denying the reporters' questions, claiming she was simply "too lazy to explain." She tried to placate him by saying such matters usually lose their heat quickly, but a frustrated Mu Tingzhou, who had always disliked being embroiled in rumors, coldly dismissed her.

Later, Xu Lin placed all the blame on Ming Wei, asserting that Ming Wei deserved the public scrutiny since she, unlike the amnesiac Mu Tingzhou, was fully aware of the situation and should have been mentally prepared. Xiao Zhao, who was present, firmly disagreed, reminding Xu Lin that he and Mu Tingzhou's parents had specifically sought Ming Wei's help, making it unfair to direct all the blame at her.

Xu Lin retorted by suggesting Xiao Zhao had feelings for Ming Wei. Noting the disproportionate media reaction to Xu Lin’s noncommittal attitude, Xiao Zhao then suggested that someone might be secretly manipulating the situation. Shen Su accompanied Ming Wei to meet a director who, while acknowledging Ming Wei's impressive acting skills, hesitated to cast her.

The director explained that Ming Wei's current negative image due to the scandal made her unsuitable for the role, as they wanted attention on the work itself, not an artist's personal drama. Separately, Shen Su expressed her dissatisfaction to Xiao Zhao about the inaction from Mu Tingzhou and Xu Lin, noting neither had apologized. Xiao Zhao vouched for Mu Tingzhou, stating he understood right from wrong and would act appropriately once he had processed everything.

Just then, Wang Yingying, Ming Wei's rival, posted online exposing Cheng Yao as the true manipulator behind the earlier malicious rumors. Wang Yingying revealed that Cheng Yao was about to marry the daughter of the Xunda Group, and she chose to expose him because she refused to become a hidden mistress and realized he would eventually use the same tactics against her. Ming Wei personally thanked Wang Yingying, who revealed that Chen Zhang had been instrumental in the matter.

He had advised her to prioritize her own interests and had helped uncover Cheng Yao's scheme. Ming Wei then met Chen Zhang at a restaurant to express her gratitude, playfully suggesting they become sworn siblings. Chen Zhang humorously replied he had hoped for a girlfriend. Ming Wei clarified her affection for him was purely platonic, confessing she still couldn't forget the Grand Tutor and was grappling with the pain of their "breakup."

Chen Zhang reassured her that time would heal her wounds and promised to wait. During their meal, Ming Qiao urgently called Ming Wei, directing her to check Mu Tingzhou's latest Weibo post. Mu Tingzhou had publicly thanked Ming Wei for her care during his illness, apologized for the trouble she had endured, and urged the public to stop commenting on their private lives, wishing her a bright future.

A flicker of disappointment crossed Ming Wei's face as she read the statement. At the press conference for "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister," Ming Wei chose to wear a white dress, recalling the Grand Tutor's compliment. When the host asked Mu Tingzhou about his amnesiac period and his relationship with the "Princess," he paused before responding.

He explained that the Grand Tutor was merely one of many characters he had portrayed in his career and speculated that his deep connection to the role led to his amnesia. He stated that the Grand Tutor existed only in the drama, while Mu Tingzhou was the reality. As for their off-screen relationship, he dismissed it as a "friendly gift" to the audience, an "extra story."

The audience applauded, but Ming Wei was devastated, realizing that to him, their shared memories were just an insignificant extra. After the press conference, Mu Tingzhou approached Ming Wei to offer compensation for the trouble she had endured. He asked her to name a sum or propose a solution he could fulfill. Deeply hurt by his transactional approach, Ming Wei confronted him.

She passionately declared that her love for the Grand Tutor was sincere and real, a stark contrast to his casual dismissal and current focus on money. She asserted that while the Grand Tutor might have been just a character to him, he was a living, unforgettable person to her. She then declared that from that day forward, he had no connection to the Grand Tutor, and she had no connection to him, telling him he was "nothing like him."

Xiao Zhao intervened, warning Mu Tingzhou to stay away from Ming Wei if he wished to avoid causing her further pain. The next morning, Ming Qiang, Ming Wei's father, arrived at Mu Tingzhou's residence to confront him. Mu Tingzhou's mother tried to intervene, but Xu Lin stepped forward to defend Mu Tingzhou, disrespectfully blaming Ming Wei and her parents for the situation. Infuriated, Ming Qiang gestured angrily and accidentally pushed Mu Tingzhou's mother, causing her to fall.

Xu Lin immediately called the police. Later, Ming Wei was having breakfast when her mother noted her father had not returned from his morning walk. Ming Wei called his phone, but a police officer answered, informing her that her father was being detained for trespassing at Mu Tingzhou's residence. Shocked, Ming Wei furiously called Mu Tingzhou, accusing him of targeting her family and warning him that if anything happened to her father, she would not let the matter rest.

Episode 23 Recap

Mu Tingzhou consulted a doctor about a peculiar sensation he experienced whenever he encountered a particular woman. He found it difficult to describe, stating he had never felt anything like it before. The doctor, despite his professional assurances of confidentiality, struggled to understand, asking if it caused nervousness, heart palpitations, sweating, or dizziness, all of which Mu Tingzhou denied. Ming Wei arrived at the Mu family residence, furious about her father being sent to the police station.

She confronted Mu Tingzhou, demanding to know why he had called the police on her father and threatening consequences if anything happened to him. Xu Lin, Mu Tingzhou's sister, and others present scoffed at Ming Wei's indignation, labeling her father a "perpetrator of violence" and pointing to Mu's mother's injured hand as proof. Ming Wei vehemently denied her father would resort to violence, though she admitted he had a bad temper.

Mu Tingzhou intervened, telling Xu Lin to stop and his mother to rest, taking charge of the situation. Ming Wei then asked if her father had indeed injured Mu's mother, conceding it might have been an accident. She apologized profusely to Mu Tingzhou and his mother, pleading for her father's release due to his age and inexperience with such situations.

She offered to cover all medical expenses and promised that from that day forward, she would never step foot in their home or have any interaction with Mu Tingzhou again, ensuring no more trouble. Mu Tingzhou agreed not to pursue legal action, acknowledging that they both bore some responsibility for the incident. Ming Wei then reflected on her own mistakes, realizing she should not have allowed herself to be swayed by him when he claimed to be the Grand Tutor.

She admitted that despite knowing the Grand Tutor was merely a fictional character, she couldn't help but fall in love with him. She asserted she had no regrets, believing he was worthy of her feelings. She expressed her gratitude for Mu Tingzhou's generosity and reiterated her desire for them to go their separate ways, never crossing paths again. After his release, Ming Wei's father assured her he was unharmed.

Ming Wei, however, blamed herself for his predicament, believing it was her insistence on marrying the Grand Tutor that led to their troubles. Her father and Ming Qiao comforted her, reassuring her that parents would never blame their children and that their family would always be her safe harbor. Ming Wei's father then suggested she leave the entertainment industry, citing its lack of privacy and the constant scrutiny that led to such issues.

He urged her to distance herself from both Mu Tingzhou and the industry to protect herself. Ming Wei firmly refused, reminding her parents that they had always taught her to face difficulties bravely and never retreat. She declared that giving up now would mean she was not a true daughter of the Ming family. Her parents, sensing her unwavering resolve, were somewhat comforted.

Xiao Zhao met with Ming Qiao, who voiced her frustration about her proud father being sent to the police by someone who nearly became his son-in-law. She firmly placed the blame on Mu Tingzhou. Xiao Zhao revealed that Mu Tingzhou had already sent him to the police station to facilitate her father's release even before Ming Wei arrived, clarifying that it was Xu Lin, not Mu Tingzhou, who had initially called the police.

Ming Qiao expressed annoyance at Xu Lin's interference, to which Xiao Zhao promised he would address it with her. Xiao Zhao then offered a different perspective on the incident, suggesting that despite its harshness, it might ultimately help Ming Wei overcome her low spirits and move on from her heartbreak over the Grand Tutor, who would never truly return.

Ming Qiao conceded his point, though she maintained that her sister would never meet Mu Tingzhou again, and their two families would remain completely separate. Later, Xiao Zhao returned home to find Xu Lin. He confronted her, asking why she escalated the situation by calling the police.

Xu Lin, defending her actions, explained that when Mu Tingzhou's mother fell and was in pain, and Mu Tingzhou was enraged, she acted to prevent things from worsening, especially given Ming Wei's father's seemingly aggressive demeanor. She added that she couldn't understand why Ming Wei allowed her father to cause such a scene.

Xiao Zhao became angry when Xu Lin then verbally attacked Ming Qiao, accusing him of being infatuated with Ming Qiao and calling her inferior to his past girlfriends. He sternly warned Xu Lin not to insult Ming Qiao again and to mind her own business. Xu Lin became tearful, expressing her feeling that both Xiao Zhao and Mu Tingzhou had been unhappy with her since her return, despite their past closeness.

She admitted to being petty but attributed it to her intense love for Mu Tingzhou and her fear of losing him. Xiao Zhao comforted her and led her inside. Meanwhile, Mu Tingzhou was haunted by thoughts of Ming Wei, even dreaming of her. He watched a clip of himself with her from an old show, wondering why she was constantly on his mind.

Elsewhere, Ming Qiao informed Xiao Zhao that Ming Wei was much better, back to normal work, and laughing, suggesting that all the past troubles were finally over and everyone was back on track. She expressed hope for her sister's smooth future. During a basketball game, Xiao Zhao explicitly introduced Ming Qiao as his girlfriend to another woman, stating his intention to "hold on to her tightly" by publicly acknowledging their relationship.

Xu Lin presented Mu Tingzhou with sketches for a new vintage tailored suit. Mu Tingzhou inquired about her plans to return to the UK to complete her studies. Xu Lin replied she had no immediate plans, preferring to spend more time with him after their long separation. Mu Tingzhou suggested instead that she spend more time with her father, who was often alone, especially since Xiao Zhao was frequently with him.

He advised her to move back with her father, stating that her father needed her company. Xu Lin, perceiving this as an attempt to distance her, asked if he was trying to kick her out. Mu Tingzhou denied it, and Xu Lin, accepting his suggestion, said she would stay with her father for a few days but would remain available if he needed her. Mu Tingzhou reassured her that he was fine.

Shen Su praised Mu Tingzhou for the success of his show, "Grand Chief Cabinet Minister," and suggested he take on more projects to secure his market position. She also showed him a clip of his past work with Ming Wei, prompting him to recall nothing, though he noted the scene's emotional outcome, including a kiss, was uncharacteristic of his usual acting style.

Shen Su attributed this to Ming Wei's exceptional performance, which inspired him to a different level of expression, implying his subconscious acknowledgment of her skill. Mu Tingzhou considered new scripts. Later, Shen Su gravely informed Ming Wei that Mu Tingzhou had decided to star in "The Butterfly Lovers," the same production for which Ming Wei was slated as the female lead. Xiao Zhao, separately, advised Mu Tingzhou against taking the role, citing Ming Wei's involvement and potential awkwardness.

Mu Tingzhou, however, firmly stated that as a professional actor, he would not abandon a good script for personal reasons and believed Ming Wei, if professional, would also not let their personal history interfere with her work. Ming Qiao, upon learning of Mu Tingzhou's involvement, visited Ming Wei to offer support. She expressed her frustration with Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao, who couldn't dissuade him, but urged Ming Wei not to let Mu Tingzhou affect her mood.

After much consideration, Ming Wei decided to withdraw from "The Butterfly Lovers." She explained that she could not work daily with someone who looked exactly like her "boyfriend" without her emotions being stirred. She stated her decision was for her own well-being and that she would seek a more suitable script. She also acknowledged Mu Tingzhou's right to choose his roles and advised Ming Qiao not to let their issues harm her relationship with Xiao Zhao.

Ming Qiao then offered to be Ming Wei's assistant. The next day, Shen Su accompanied Ming Wei to meet with Mr. Liu, the producer, to formally withdraw Ming Wei from "The Butterfly Lovers" and pay the breach of contract penalty. To their surprise, Mr. Liu informed them that Mu Tingzhou, through Xiao Zhao, had already offered to cover the penalty if Ming Wei chose to withdraw.

Ming Wei, however, firmly refused the offer, insisting that the consequences of her decision were her own responsibility and that she should not burden others. She asked Mr. Liu to convey her gratitude to Mu Tingzhou but reiterated her intention to pay the penalty herself. Xiao Zhao informed Mu Tingzhou that Ming Wei had indeed refused to star in "The Butterfly Lovers" and had also rejected his offer to pay her penalty, though she expressed her thanks.

He remarked that Ming Wei's heart seemed to have been completely broken by past events, leading her to give up such a good script. Mu Tingzhou then met with Ming Wei to discuss the penalty. He revealed that he had anticipated her withdrawal was due to his involvement and, as he insisted on taking the role, he felt a responsibility to assist her.

He offered to cover the penalty, assuming it was a significant sum for her given her relatively short time in the industry. Ming Wei thanked him for his consideration but maintained that her decision was entirely her own and that accepting his payment would make her uneasy. She insisted on paying it herself. Mu Tingzhou then asked if she intended to continue her acting career.

When she confirmed her dedication to the profession, stating she found increasing joy and fulfillment in it, he challenged her, asking if her decision to withdraw from the production was not, in fact, "very unprofessional" for an aspiring professional actor.

Episode 24 Recap

Mu Tingzhou struggled to find a suitable name for his child, discarding options like "Mu Youqian" because they sounded strange or unlucky. He decided to call his mother, believing that a scriptwriter like her would be good at naming. However, once on the phone, he quickly offered brief answers and ended the call, realizing he couldn't let her know about his impending fatherhood so casually. Despite the naming challenge, he was inwardly delighted at the prospect of becoming a father.

Mu Tingzhou questioned Ming Wei about her future, asking if she intended to continue her acting career or perhaps return to translation. Ming Wei firmly declared her intention to remain an actress, explaining that the longer she pursued the profession, the more enjoyment and sense of accomplishment she found in it.

Mu Tingzhou then sternly criticized her recent actions as unprofessional, emphasizing that a truly qualified actor should fully embody their character, unaffected by external factors, and always remember that the "play is the most important thing." Ming Wei acknowledged his words as inspiring. Later, driven by curiosity, Mu Tingzhou asked Ming Wei to describe the Grand Tutor and recount his experiences while inhabiting that role. Ming Wei found this request cruel, as it forced her to confront painful memories.

In her mind, she debated whether to bravely face these past hurts or shield herself from reliving them. Recalling the Grand Tutor's wisdom, she remembered his advice to steadfastly follow one's chosen path and prioritize career. Ming Wei informed Shen Su of her decision to accept the role in "The Butterfly Lovers." Surprised, Shen Su reiterated her offer to resolve any issues and advised Ming Wei not to feel pressured.

However, Ming Wei explained that she had given it much thought and believed that as a professional actress, the play itself should be the priority, not personal matters. She also stated her conviction that facing personal challenges, rather than avoiding them, was essential for her growth. Shen Su commended Ming Wei for her impressive development, calling her the fastest-growing among all new actors, and pledged her full support. During an interview, Mu Tingzhou observed Ming Wei leaving to vomit.

He then overheard a phone conversation between Ming Wei and Ming Qiao, in which Ming Wei stated that they couldn't keep "it" and were not capable of raising it. This led Mu Tingzhou to mistakenly conclude that Ming Wei was pregnant. He had Xu Run purchase sour grapes and offered them to Ming Wei as a test. When he tried one himself, his face contorted in an exaggerated expression of sourness.

Believing he had confirmed his suspicion, Mu Tingzhou urged Ming Wei to withdraw from "The Butterfly Lovers," stating he would take responsibility for the child he believed was his from his time as the Grand Tutor. Ming Wei was bewildered, clarifying that her vomiting was due to gastroenteritis and that her phone call had been about whether to adopt a puppy.

Realizing Mu Tingzhou had concocted an entire pregnancy scenario, she light-heartedly reminded him that she had always enjoyed sour foods, leaving him utterly mortified. Xu Run arranged a dinner with Ming Qiao's parents, but they unexpectedly encountered his father, Xu Xiu, at the restaurant. Upon seeing Xu Xiu, Ming Qiao's mother, Jiang Yue, feigned a sudden stomachache and quickly left with Ming Qiao. Later, Xu Xiu revealed to Xu Run that Jiang Yue was the "auntie" from his past.

He recounted meeting her at a party where she was playing the zither and falling deeply in love. However, Xu Run's grandmother strongly opposed their union and secretly forced the pregnant Jiang Yue to leave. Despite his desperate search, Xu Xiu was never able to find her and lamented his past inability to protect her, now wondering if Ming Qiao was the child he never knew. When Ming Qiao later saw a conflicted Xu Run, she tearfully embraced him.

He hesitated, his eyes filled with sadness, before finally returning her embrace. Upon returning home, Ming Wei noticed Ming Qiao's somber mood. Ming Qiao recounted how her mother had abruptly left dinner after seeing Xu Xiu, hinting at a deep-seated animosity. Ming Wei found it implausible that her housewife mother could have a past feud with a prominent entrepreneur like Xu Xiu.

To understand the situation, Xu Run met with Jiang Yue and asked if she was pregnant when she left his father. Avoiding the question, Jiang Yue firmly stated her opposition to his and Ming Qiao's relationship, declaring she wanted no entanglement between their families and demanding he end things with Ming Qiao. Overwhelmed by helplessness, Xu Run began to intentionally distance himself from Ming Qiao, who was deeply saddened by his sudden unavailability.

Noticing his coldness, Ming Wei confronted Xu Run and warned him not to hurt her sister. At a family dinner, Ming Qiao's parents voiced their strong disapproval of Xu Run, dismissing him as an unreliable rich kid using an alias for amusement. Ming Wei defended him, explaining the alias was for work and vouching for his character. Ming Qiao also challenged her parents' quick judgment. Despite their defenses, the parents persisted in their objections. Ming Qiao then directly asked about the animosity between them and Xu Xiu, but her parents evaded the question, claiming they were not in the mood to discuss it.

Episode 25 Recap

While tidying his study, Mu Tingzhou discovers the diary his amnesiac self, the Grand Tutor, had kept. The entries detail his growing affection for Ming Wei, mentioning a desire to propose marriage. Mu Tingzhou is flustered by descriptions of their intimacy, such as "ears and sideburns brushing," and a note about kneeling for forgiveness after "offending her without permission."

The Grand Tutor noted Ming Wei's response: if he were to offend her again, his punishment would be to cherish her for a lifetime. Reading this, Mu Tingzhou anxiously wonders if he had forced Ming Wei into a "soul-piercing" act during his amnesia. Meanwhile, Ming Qiao, frustrated by her parents' vague disapproval of Xiao Zhao, confronts them about their past conflict with his father. Getting no clear answers, she storms out.

At a nightclub, she is shocked to find Xiao Zhao with another woman. Hiding his own pain, Xiao Zhao cruelly ends their relationship, claiming he prefers an unrestrained life and that she isn't his type. He dismisses her suggestions that he is ill or being pressured by his father, insisting he simply tried to be with her but realized he couldn't, so he decided to stop pretending. Shortly after, a worried Ming Wei arrives to find her sister drinking alone.

A heartbroken Ming Qiao explains the sudden breakup, and Ming Wei, shocked, comforts her, promising to stay by her side. The next day, the sisters encounter Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao in their hotel hallway. Mu Tingzhou tries to greet Ming Wei, but she ignores him and walks past. Deducing her coldness is linked to Xiao Zhao, Mu Tingzhou confronts him, blaming him for being the reason the female lead dislikes him.

Xiao Zhao cryptically replies only that he and Ming Qiao "weren't suitable." Later, Mu Tingzhou approaches Ming Wei, suggesting that Xiao Zhao, whom he believes to be a responsible person, must have had a reason for the strange breakup and that there might be a misunderstanding. Using this as an opportunity to talk, he proposes they improve their own strained relationship for the sake of their work. Ming Wei agrees to be professional.

To facilitate this, Mu Tingzhou suggests they exchange WeChat contacts for work communication. However, as soon as they connect, he admits he has no relationship experience and can't actually help with her sister's situation, cheekily asking Ming Wei if her time with the Grand Tutor taught her any "secrets to make feelings heat up," to which she replies, "No comment."

In reality, Xiao Zhao had broken up with Ming Qiao after learning from his father, Xu Xiu, that his long-lost half-sister was likely Ming Wei. He had confronted Ming's mother, who, while not confirming it directly, made it clear that Ming Wei was a child of the Ming family with no ties to the Xus. She also explicitly forbade a relationship between Xiao Zhao and Ming Qiao to prevent their families from becoming entangled again.

When Xu Xiu later shows up at the film set, eager to see Ming Wei, Xiao Zhao quickly pulls him away, pleading with him not to reveal the truth and cause Ming Wei immense pain before the Ming family is ready. The tense atmosphere is further disrupted by the arrival of Xu Lin, Xiao Zhao's sister. Introducing herself as Mu Tingzhou's junior who is there to consult on costumes, she immediately invites Mu Tingzhou to dinner, excluding Ming Wei.

At dinner, Xu Lin attempts to turn him against Ming Wei, calling her "calculating." Mu Tingzhou shuts her down, stating he trusts his own judgment and warns her not to comment on Ming Wei again. A hurt Xu Lin confesses her feelings for him are why she has changed, but he gently reiterates that he only sees her as a sister.

Later, Xu Lin discovers her father, Xu Xiu, giving expensive supplements to Ming Wei as a gesture of paternal guilt. She furiously accuses Ming Wei of seducing her father after failing to ensnare Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao. As the argument escalates, Xu Xiu pulls his daughter aside and reveals the truth: Ming Wei is her biological sister.

Xu Lin refuses to believe it, screaming that Ming Wei's appearance has ruined everything—Mu Tingzhou is distant, Xiao Zhao protects Ming Wei over her, and now her father is telling her to accept this. During the next rehearsal, an enraged Xu Lin storms in, slaps Ming Wei across the face, and publicly denounces her as their father's "illegitimate daughter," born from a pre-marital affair. Ming Qiao instantly retaliates, slapping Xu Lin back as Xiao Zhao rushes to intervene.

Xu Lin, spiraling, blames Xiao Zhao for knowing the truth and for pushing Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou together, leading to her own rejection. Shaken, Ming Wei realizes Xu Lin's claims might explain her mother's past behavior and Xiao Zhao's sudden breakup. The sisters rush home to get the truth from their parents. Their father tearfully embraces Ming Wei, reassuring her she will always be his beloved daughter.

The family shares an emotional moment, reaffirming their bond as a family of four. Outside, Mu Tingzhou tells Xiao Zhao that there's no blood relation between him and Ming Qiao. Xiao Zhao admits he still felt the relationship was strange and that he forced himself to be cold to her, though it pained him. As they talk, Ming Qiao comes out and confronts Xiao Zhao directly. " Did you already know my sister is your sister? Is that why you broke up with me?" she asks, then adds with a wry smile, "So after chasing you for so long, I just ended up with a brother?"

Episode 26 Recap

In a dream-like state, Mu Tingzhou converses with the Grand Tutor. He confesses that he followed the instructions in the Grand Tutor's diary to make Ming Wei fall in love with him, hoping she would forget the Grand Tutor. However, he now realizes his efforts are futile, as he cannot erase the Grand Tutor from her memory.

The Grand Tutor reassures Mu Tingzhou that he is merely his doppelganger and there is no need for jealousy, asking only that Mu Tingzhou remain by Ming Wei's side, as that would be the same as the Grand Tutor himself being with her. Overwhelmed by recent revelations, Ming Wei confronts Xiao Zhao, asking if he broke up with her because he knew she was his biological sister.

She expresses her frustration that he unilaterally decided their relationship was over and sarcastically calls him "brother." Later, as Ming Wei tries to compose herself, Mu Tingzhou finds her and encourages her to openly express her sorrow. He reassures her that the truth about her parentage changes nothing about her relationship with her father or her current life, helping to ease her distress.

Before filming, Xiao Zhao probes Mu Tingzhou, asking if his newfound kindness towards Ming Wei stems solely from the Grand Tutor's diary. Mu Tingzhou admits his initial interest was curiosity sparked by the diary, but confesses that he now feels an inexplicable urge to comfort Ming Wei whenever he sees her upset. Meanwhile, Ming Wei politely declines a gift of fruit from Ming Qiao, stating she needs time to come to terms with recent events.

She expresses gratitude to Mu Tingzhou for his supportive words and acknowledges Xiao Zhao's concern, though she is not ready to accept him as a brother. The set buzzes with the unexpected arrival of Chen Zhang, who visits Ming Wei with treats. He explains he wanted to surprise her before he starts his next project.

Chen Zhang reveals his prior concern that she might be unhappy working with Mu Tingzhou, but Ming Wei assures him of Mu Tingzhou's kindness and their pleasant collaboration. When Chen Zhang hints at his enduring affection, promising to wait for her, Ming Wei gently but firmly clarifies that while she cherishes him as a lifelong friend, her feelings are not romantic. Chen Zhang accepts her decision, and they playfully seal their pact of friendship.

Outside, Mu Tingzhou, having keenly observed their interaction, is teased by Xiao Zhao for his intense focus. Mu Tingzhou then declares his intention to pursue Ming Wei. Suspecting Chen Zhang's visit fueled this decision, Xiao Zhao warns Mu Tingzhou against hurting his sister again, threatening severe consequences if he does. Mu Tingzhou, in turn, advises Xiao Zhao to focus on his own relationship with Ming Qiao to avoid future regrets.

As Xu Lin prepares to leave her home, her father, Xu Xiu, questions her destination. She responds with sharp defiance, bitterly accusing him of favoring Ming Wei over her. Xu Xiu tries to explain that any past mistakes were his own and that Xu Lin has no reason to resent Ming Wei, whom he loves equally.

Xu Lin's anger escalates, and she labels Ming Wei a "bastard" who has everyone, including Mu Tingzhou and her own family, wrapped around her finger. In a moment of uncontrolled anger, Xu Xiu slaps her. Declaring herself unwanted, Xu Lin vows to leave. As Xu Xiu tries to stop her, he suddenly collapses, clutching his chest, leaving Xu Lin crying out in terror.

During the filming of a poignant separation scene, Mu Tingzhou, as Shanbo, exchanges heart-wrenching vows with Ming Wei's Yingtai. As they speak of an afterlife reunion, a strong sense of familiarity washes over Mu Tingzhou. He reflects on the feeling and internally questions if he can be considered the princess's boyfriend. Though not in the script, he spontaneously kisses Ming Wei. The director is immensely pleased, praising the naturalness of the kiss as a future highlight for the show.

Afterwards, Mu Tingzhou apologizes to Ming Wei for the unexpected action, but she dismisses it, acknowledging it was for the scene and that she, too, was caught up in the moment. Xiao Zhao receives news that his father, Xu Xiu, has suffered a heart attack and is hospitalized. At the hospital, Xu Lin is greatly relieved to find her father awake and stable.

Xu Xiu expresses profound regret for his past, including his failures towards Ming Wei and her mother, causing the rift between Xiao Zhao and Ming Qiao, and fostering Xu Lin's resentment. Later, Xu Xiu sincerely apologizes to Xu Lin for hitting her, taking full responsibility for all grievances. He implores both his children to let go of their grudges, and Xu Lin tearfully accepts his apology.

Xu Xiu then advises Xiao Zhao not to repeat his own mistakes, encouraging him to pursue Ming Qiao, whose love for him is mutual. Later, when Xiao Zhao informs Ming Wei that his father has recovered, she remains emotionally distant. He suggests they could still be friends, but Ming Wei challenges him, asking how friendship is possible after he so cruelly hurt her friend Ming Qiao.

Inspired by his father's words, Xiao Zhao resolutely decides he will win Ming Qiao back. Mu Tingzhou reads a letter from Mu Yun, the Grand Tutor, which speaks of their intertwined connection with Ming Wei and hints at the Grand Tutor's imminent departure from consciousness. The letter asks Mu Tingzhou to compensate Ming Wei for what the Grand Tutor owes her.

Looking in a mirror, Mu Tingzhou vows to fulfill the request, but asserts it will be for his own sake. The next morning, he invites Ming Wei to breakfast. Noticing her tending to a pot of peonies, he correctly deduces they were a gift from the Grand Tutor, a detail Xiao Zhao had shared. Ming Wei's hopes that he has regained his memories are dashed when he denies it.

Soon after, Mu Tingzhou brings her an array of different flowers and thoughtfully offers her a refilled water cup, gestures strikingly reminiscent of the Grand Tutor's actions, prompting an unusual look from Ming Wei. Under the moonlight, Mu Tingzhou calls Ming Wei to the courtyard for an urgent discussion. He immediately asks about the Grand Tutor's current place in her heart. He clarifies that he needs to understand her emotional state before officially pursuing her.

He confesses that she has ignited a unique psychological and physical attraction in him, making her the first woman to evoke such feelings. Mu Tingzhou openly states his desire for a romantic relationship, acknowledging that her feelings may not yet match his. He explains his need to understand her feelings for the Grand Tutor, especially since that persona, a product of his memory loss, is now effectively gone.

Ming Wei responds that she was deeply in love with the Grand Tutor, and he remains an unforgettable, living person to her. Mu Tingzhou presses further, asking if she intends to wait for him to regain his memories or explore a new relationship, emphasizing his hope that she can differentiate between them. He apologizes for any past hurt and promises his love will equal the Grand Tutor's.

Ming Wei, however, respectfully declines, stating that her boyfriend, the Grand Tutor, has "just died," and she is not yet ready for a new relationship. Mu Tingzhou accepts her decision for now but vows not to give up, promising to prove his sincerity over time.

Episode 27 Recap

In their childhood, a young Ming Wei and Ming Qiao stood before a poster of Mu Tingzhou, each holding a lollipop. Ming Qiao declared her dream to become an actress, act alongside Mu Tingzhou, and even marry him so he would buy her delicious food daily. She enthusiastically promised to get his autograph and multiple photos for her sister. Sensing a change in Mu Tingzhou, Xiao Zhao asked him if he had recovered his memories.

Mu Tingzhou confessed that during the filming of a pivotal death scene, his memories flooded back. He vividly recalled meeting Ming Wei, filming "The Grand Chief Cabinet Minister," and realizing he had already fallen in love with her back then. Xiao Zhao was overjoyed by the news. Mu Tingzhou was determined to tell Ming Wei everything, confident she would forgive him.

However, Xiao Zhao argued against it, pointing out that Mu Tingzhou had pursued Ming Wei as the amnesiac Grand Tutor, broke up with her upon regaining his memories, and now wanted to reconcile for the very reason he left her. Xiao Zhao, as her brother, disapproved, feeling it was toying with her emotions. Undeterred, Mu Tingzhou resolved to win her back. The two made a bet: whoever successfully reconciled with their girlfriend first would get one wish from the loser.

In the following days, Mu Tingzhou frequently visited Ming Wei's home under the pretense of watering her plants. He openly declared his intention to pursue her, but Ming Wei was hesitant, expressing that she was tired and unwilling to re-enter such a complex relationship. Despite her reservations, Mu Tingzhou's actions began to mirror the Grand Tutor's. He brought her favorite foods, a specific facial cleanser, and small pastries he attempted to make.

He also began waiting outside her home to drive her to the set, just as the Grand Tutor had. These gestures made Ming Wei increasingly suspicious. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhao’s attempts to win back Ming Qiao were met with indifference. Desperate, he enlisted Mu Tingzhou's help to feign being drunk and heartbroken. Mu Tingzhou called Ming Qiao, who rushed to the scene. However, their plan was unintentionally foiled by an acquaintance who remarked that he had never seen Xiao Zhao drunk.

Enraged by the deception, Ming Qiao stormed off despite Xiao Zhao’s frantic apologies. Witnessing this, Ming Wei confronted Mu Tingzhou for his role in the scheme. He admitted that, like Xiao Zhao, he was simply "grasping at straws." Later, Mu Tingzhou planned a fireworks surprise for Ming Wei. He placed an invitation card in a coat he believed was hers.

He and Xiao Zhao waited, but to his dismay, Ming Qiao arrived, revealing that Ming Wei had borrowed her coat that day. Believing the romantic gesture was from Xiao Zhao, Ming Qiao was deeply touched by the fireworks and the message on the card. She playfully agreed to give Xiao Zhao another chance, warning it was his last. As the dejected Mu Tingzhou lamented his bad luck, Xiao Zhao called Ming Wei to come and comfort him.

Realizing the mix-up, Ming Qiao playfully challenged Xiao Zhao to properly pursue her until she was satisfied, a challenge he eagerly accepted. When Ming Wei arrived, Mu Tingzhou delivered a heartfelt confession. He explained that while he might be a great actor, his feelings for her were entirely genuine.

He acknowledged that he had first fallen for her as the Grand Tutor, but now, as Mu Tingzhou, he was falling in love with her all over again, believing it to be destiny. Admitting his past mistakes and emotional shortcomings, he promised to change and wait for her. Ming Wei told him she would seriously consider it. Elsewhere, Xu Lin decided to return to the UK to complete her studies.

She shared a moment with Mu Tingzhou, who reassured her she would find her own happiness. Speaking alone with Ming Wei, Xu Lin sincerely apologized for her past actions. She confessed that while they were biological sisters, she wasn't ready to fully accept their relationship or bless her and Mu Tingzhou, suggesting they leave it to time. It was the first peaceful conversation they ever had.

The final scene for "The Butterfly Lovers" was filmed, with Ming Wei's character taking poison to join her love in death, her thoughts drifting to the Grand Tutor. After filming wrapped, Mu Tingzhou rushed to find her, only for Xiao Zhao to inform him she had already left. Xiao Zhao admitted Ming Qiao had asked him not to say anything, playfully reminding Mu Tingzhou that he was on track to win their bet.

Shortly after, Auntie Zhao visited Ming Wei, bringing a potted plant she explained the Grand Tutor had entrusted to her care. Her main reason for visiting, however, was to give Ming Wei the Grand Tutor's old phone. It had been broken in the car accident but was now repaired.

Auntie Zhao explained that since the Grand Tutor persona refused to use Mu Tingzhou's phone, she had kept the old one for him and felt it was time Ming Wei saw its contents. Ming Wei hesitated, feeling it would be inappropriate to pry into his private device.

Episode 28 Recap

Auntie Zhao arrived unexpectedly, presenting Mu Tingzhou's old cellphone to Ming Wei and urging her to look through its contents. Ming Wei hesitated, finding it improper, but Auntie Zhao insisted, promising she wouldn't regret it. The phone was filled with pictures Mu Tingzhou had taken of Ming Wei. Auntie Zhao then directed her to an unsent WeChat message from Mu Tingzhou.

In the message, he clarified that his previous statement about not wanting to shoot kissing scenes meant he was only unwilling to do so with anyone other than her. He also mentioned wanting to drive her home after dubbing and asked about her availability the next day, indicating he had something important to say.

Auntie Zhao explained to Ming Wei that both Grand Tutor and Mu Tingzhou were the same person, emphasizing that he had always been in love only with her. She also noted Mu Tingzhou's recent strange behavior, suspecting he might have started to remember his past.

This thought was reinforced by a brief memory of the Princess and Grand Tutor, where he explained that a hair clasp was a symbol of love in the Ning Dynasty, a precious gift to the Princess, just as a scent bag was a symbol of their bond.

He had vowed to the Princess that no matter what future challenges they faced, she should trust his sincerity and never let go of his hand, to which she had responded with unwavering trust. Mu Tingzhou, reviewing what appeared to be wedding preparations, resolved to take a significant step.

He gathered his courage and sent a text message to Ming Wei, inviting her to his home for a simple meal, noting that it had been a long time since their last meeting after filming had wrapped. The wait for her reply was agonizing, but finally, she agreed. Overjoyed, Mu Tingzhou meticulously practiced how he would receive her. He tried various greetings, from polite invitations to declarations of having waited for her, but found them either unnatural or "too greasy."

Deciding to remain calm and composed, he arranged their seating and resolved to confess his feelings sincerely while looking directly into her eyes. He practiced what he would say: he wanted to see her because he wanted to date her and be alone with her. He intended to tell her that if she didn't agree to be with him, he would pursue her relentlessly, doing whatever it took to get close, see her, and hear her voice.

He planned to tell her not to question his future calls or visits, as pursuing her was a lifelong endeavor he was determined to succeed in. Under the gentle evening breeze and tranquil moonlight, Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou enjoyed a candlelit dinner in the yard, with food specially prepared by Auntie Zhao. Ming Wei commented on how delicious everything looked. Mu Tingzhou struggled to find the right words to express himself.

After a prolonged silence, Ming Wei produced a notebook, asking if he remembered it. Mu Tingzhou recognized it as the acting notes he had secretly made for her. Ming Wei expressed her gratitude, mentioning that Xiao Zhao had given it to her and that she hadn't realized the extent of his hidden help. Mu Tingzhou, still holding back, explained he had been concerned she might find him meddling since they weren't very familiar then.

Ming Wei assured him it was a valuable treasure to her. She then pressed him, revealing that Xiao Zhao had told her about even more of his assistance: secretly asking for leave when Cheng Yao caused trouble and rearranging his dubbing schedule to match hers, all to help her immerse herself in her role.

Mu Tingzhou downplayed his actions, stating he rarely worked with novices but believed she was a fast learner with talent, so he simply wanted to help as much as he could. Ming Wei, feeling deeply disappointed by his detached response, asked if his help was merely because she was a "fast learner," then declared she was full and ready to leave. As she bid him farewell, Mu Tingzhou called out to her, but remained hesitant.

Ming Wei, who had clearly hoped for a different conversation, grew irritated by his indecision and walked away, advising him to speak only when he had truly thought his words through. As Ming Wei reached the main gate, it suddenly swung shut, and the entire yard illuminated with countless twinkling lights. Mu Tingzhou quickly followed her, calling out "Your Highness."

He then apologized for his previous cowardice and confessed that he had remembered everything: how they met, got to know each other, and eventually fell in love. He expressed regret that if he had confessed his feelings to her immediately after filming "The Grand Chief Cabinet Minister," they would have avoided many "ridiculous things."

He then firmly declared that whether in the past, present, or future, and regardless of whether he was Grand Tutor or Mu Tingzhou, he was certain that she was the only one he loved. He then asked her directly if she would be his princess again. Instead of replying, Ming Wei rose on her tiptoes and kissed him.

Xiao Zhao rushed to catch up with Ming Qiao, who was clearly still upset, rejecting his offers of coffee, crisps, and even chocolate, citing concerns about gaining weight. Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou soon joined them, and Ming Wei playfully questioned Ming Qiao about when she planned to accept Xiao Zhao, noting his constant efforts to please her. Ming Qiao admitted she hadn't decided, enjoying the feeling of being pursued.

Xiao Zhao then promised that even if she accepted him, he would continue to pursue her for life. Changing the subject, Xiao Zhao reminded Mu Tingzhou about their bet, claiming victory and telling him to prepare to fulfill his commitment. Ming Qiao, surprised, asked about the bet. Xiao Zhao explained they had wagered on who could first win their beloved's heart, with the loser granting the winner a wish.

Ming Qiao was appalled that she and Ming Wei had been the subjects of their bet. Xiao Zhao tried to justify it as merely proving his own abilities, but Ming Qiao, with a competitive spark, retorted that Xiao Zhao hadn't lost at all. She revealed that they had already made up on the day of the fireworks, declaring that it was Mu Tingzhou who had lost.

Xiao Zhao was ecstatic, embracing Ming Qiao and spinning her around joyfully as she told him to be careful. Waiting by a bridge, Xu Xiu found Jiang Yue. He apologized to both Jiang Yue and Ming Wei, admitting he had initially felt a deep hatred towards Jiang Yue, but explained that meeting Ming Qiang had brought him happiness and contentment.

He thanked Jiang Yue for raising Ming Wei so well, acknowledging that Ming Qiang, Ming Wei's adoptive father, actually favored her even more. Xu Xiu confessed years of anxiety about Ming Wei's true parentage being revealed, and a sense of relief when it finally came to light. He acknowledged that no apology could undo the past harm but expressed his sole wish now: that the children would be happy, as they bore no responsibility for the past.

Jiang Yue reassured Xu Xiu that she would respect the children's choices, stating she wouldn't prevent them from being together or stop Ming Wei from acknowledging him as her father. Xu Xiu expressed that he had never expected such acceptance. He then informed Jiang Yue that he would soon take Xu Lin to the UK and would not return. Jiang Yue extended her hand, bidding him to "take care," a gesture that symbolized their long-awaited reconciliation.

Preparing to meet their prospective in-laws, Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao studied books on harmonious families and marriage sociology. Recognizing the futility of pure theory, they decided to rehearse. In a mock scenario, Xiao Zhao, playing Ming Qiang, posed a classic "life-or-death" question about saving his mother or daughter from drowning. Mu Tingzhou skillfully dodged it by stating his mother could swim.

Mu Tingzhou then highlighted his own more pressing concern: winning over Ming Wei's parents, especially her father, Ming Qiang. Xiao Zhao acknowledged his own easier path, noting he hadn't sent Ming Qiao's father to the police station. Mu Tingzhou confessed his worries about gaining their approval. Xiao Zhao then suggested that before trying to please Ming Wei's parents, Mu Tingzhou should first try to win over him, Ming Wei's older brother.

A playful argument ensued over who was the "brother-in-law of an older sister" versus the "brother-in-law of a younger sister." Upon their arrival at the Ming family home with bottles of wine, Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao faced Ming Qiang, who, seeing them as the men who had made his daughters cry, flatly refused their marriage proposals. He even threatened to introduce his daughters to other young men from his martial arts club.

Mu Tingzhou offered to give Ming Wei everything he had, and Xiao Zhao echoed the sentiment for Ming Qiao, but Ming Qiang, declaring himself not swayed by money, rejected their offers. In a desperate move, Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao threatened to record Ming Qiang's words, with Mu Tingzhou insisting on video for undeniable proof. Flustered, Ming Qiang ordered them to stop, threatening to genuinely forbid his daughters from marrying them if they continued.

Satisfied, the two asked if that meant he finally agreed. Ming Qiang relented, admitting he couldn't change the fact that his "two silly girls" loved them. He clarified that his approval was not due to their promises or status, but solely because his daughters smiled happily and looked genuinely content when with them. Mu Tingzhou sincerely apologized for his past actions, which Ming Qiang accepted, but warned them never to repeat such mistakes.

To secure the deletion of the recordings, Mu Tingzhou and Xiao Zhao persuaded Ming Qiang to drink a glass of wine with them. Just then, Jiang Yue returned home to find the three men visibly drunk. She chided them for their poor drinking abilities and insisted they continue drinking. Mu Tingzhou then reiterated his proposal to Jiang Yue, clarifying it was his second time. Jiang Yue scolded him for treating marriage as a joke.

Mu Tingzhou apologized and promised to make Ming Wei happy, but Jiang Yue expressed concern about his potential memory loss hurting her daughter again. Ming Wei interjected, reassuring her mother that such a thing would not happen again, leading Ming Qiang to jokingly comment on his "little padded jacket" (Ming Wei) now siding with her future husband.

Ming Qiao then sided with her father, vowing she would be the first to deal with Mu Tingzhou if he ever dared to bully Ming Wei. Mu Tingzhou then declared that while he would listen to Ming Qiang, he would listen to Jiang Yue even more, winning her over by offering to arrange a photoshoot for her. Ming Qiang enthusiastically joined in, suggesting various themes like ancient costumes, beach settings, and cheongsams.

Mu Tingzhou brought Ming Wei to the restaurant where they first met. He teasingly reminded her of her tears there, shed for a "jerk." Ming Wei, embarrassed, questioned why he brought up her past. Mu Tingzhou declared it the place where their fate began, and they exchanged "I love you"s. He promised to cherish her as his princess for life, giving her the happiest existence, and she vowed to make him happy too.

Ming Wei then playfully pointed out a few minor grammar mistakes in his speech and proceeded to recite complex Italian grammar rules. Mu Tingzhou was astonished, asking how she knew such details and if she had worked part-time at Ou Qiao Language School and knew a teacher named Mr. Daniel. Ming Wei, equally surprised, then realized that he was the person who had called the language school and asked her a grammar question.

They discovered their connection went back much further than they had realized. Inspired by this revelation, Ming Wei decided to continue her Italian studies, calling it "the beginning of our story" and "our love language." Mu Tingzhou then posed a direct question, asking her whom she liked more: Grand Tutor or him. Ming Wei responded that since they were the same person, her affection was undivided.

Mu Tingzhou comically argued that he was not "that fool," expressing his dissatisfaction with her answer and declaring that he wanted to be the absolute first in her heart. Ming Wei found his self-jealousy amusing. Ming Qiao presented Ming Wei with a property ownership certificate, explaining it was a dowry from their father, Xu Xiu.

She conveyed Xu Xiu's message that even if Ming Wei never wanted to see him or acknowledge him as her father, he would always be there to protect her, standing behind her and resolving any grievances she might face. Ming Qiao then wished her sister and Mu Tingzhou a long and happy life together. She urged Ming Wei to get back to her wedding preparations, reminding her there were only a few days left.

Ming Wei expressed her gratitude for having Ming Qiao by her side throughout their journey. Mu Tingzhou and Ming Wei’s wedding was a beautiful and unique event. Mu Tingzhou revealed that all the decorations were meticulously arranged according to his memories, recreating the grandeur of his past life. Dressed in magnificent wedding attire, Mu Tingzhou, riding a horse, approached Ming Wei, who was seated in an elaborate sedan chair.

He addressed her as "Your Highness," asking if she liked the setting. Ming Wei, looking radiant, responded that she loved it deeply. She then noticed and picked up a familiar hair clasp, asking Mu Tingzhou why he still kept it. He returned it to her, saying, "I, Mu Tingzhou, am grateful for Your Highness deigning to marry me," and teasingly asked if he should kowtow. Ming Wei joyfully responded, "Absolutely! Absolutely!" This grand ceremony, reminiscent of ancient times, appeared to fulfill the long-lost dream of Grand Tutor and his Princess, marking a sweet beginning to their continued happiness.

Episode 29 Recap

In the seventh year of Tianshuo, the Emperor passed away, plunging the capital into turmoil. A Vassal King orchestrated a rebellion, colluding with the Imperial Guards to swiftly seize control of the palace. Amidst this crisis, Mu Yun, the General from the northern frontier, returned to the capital to protect the royal family.

The once vibrant imperial city was now scarred by smoke and littered with fallen bodies as Mu Yun led his troops into the palace, confronting and defeating the rebels. Previously, their story began on a sunny day in the palace gardens. Princess Ming Hua was chasing a beautiful butterfly when Mu Yun appeared. Annoyed by the interruption, the pampered princess blamed him for startling her butterfly and demanded he catch it for her.

Mu Yun calmly stated that Eunuch Li was the one who scared it away and thus he was not at fault. Displeased, Ming Hua insisted that if she declared him guilty, then he was. As she spoke, the butterfly landed on her head, and with a gentle touch, Mu Yun captured it, delighting her. His presence left a subtle impression, stirring a quiet ripple in her heart.

Later, Ming Hua heard of a butterfly farm in the capital and expressed her wish to visit it to her father, the Emperor. He denied her request, reminding her that she was of marriageable age and needed to curb her playful nature, suggesting that a good teacher was necessary. Seizing the opportunity, Ming Hua proposed Mu Yun, praising him as a knowledgeable and talented man. The Emperor agreed to consider her request.

On the first day of their lessons, Mu Yun began teaching the "Women's Analects." Ming Hua, however, challenged him, stating that her teacher must be capable in both academic and military pursuits to be worthy of a princess of the Ning Dynasty. Recalling that he had won a martial arts tournament, she asked him to demonstrate his skills. Mu Yun accepted and showcased his agility and prowess in the courtyard, leaving Ming Hua captivated.

During a tea session, Mu Yun prepared tea for Ming Hua, but she attempted to clink her cup with his. He gently reminded her that in their dynasty, clinking glasses was a ritual reserved for spouses; a respectful distant toast was the proper etiquette for others. He then assigned her ten pages from "The Book of Rites." Unwilling to study, Ming Hua noted that it was the Firework Festival and expressed her wish to experience the common festivities.

She argued that a princess unaware of her people's joys and sorrows could not be a true leader. Moved by her words, Mu Yun agreed to take her out after she completed her reading. During their outing, the vibrant atmosphere thrilled Ming Hua, but the guards dampened her spirits. She playfully suggested to Mu Yun that his protection alone would suffice, then took his hand and pulled him into the bustling crowd.

As they stopped on a bridge, Ming Hua realized she was holding his hand and quickly let go. When she nearly lost her balance, Mu Yun swiftly reached out to steady her. Looking at the fireworks, Ming Hua told him that the person one watched them with was more important than the spectacle itself, and she embraced him tightly.

Recognizing his growing feelings for Ming Hua, Mu Yun requested a transfer to the border, where years of war had displaced many. As he prepared to leave, Ming Hua intercepted his carriage at the city gates, demanding to know why he was departing without a word. She tried to give him a scent sachet, a token of her affection, but he refused it, deeming it an inappropriate gift.

Maintaining a distant demeanor, he stated he would not return to the capital and that she need not wait for him. Despite her insistence that he was more than a teacher to her, Mu Yun coldly replied that to him, she was "just his student." In the seventh year of Tianshuo, with the Emperor's death triggering the rebellion, the young Crown Prince was in grave danger. To ensure his survival, Ming Hua bravely stayed behind to confront the rebels.

Just as she faced imminent peril, Mu Yun arrived, having fought his way through the palace to rescue her. Relieved, Ming Hua rushed into his embrace. Now the Chief Cabinet Minister, Mu Yun apologized for his delay. Seeing how weary he looked, she attributed it to the harsh conditions in the North. She then proposed they visit a fabled bridge on the upcoming Double Seventh Festival, where it was said that lovers who meet there would be fated to marry.

Mu Yun agreed to accompany her. Soon after, the young Emperor met with Mu Yun to discuss land measurement policies, then subtly inquired about his marriage plans. The Emperor warned him that his wife must be chosen carefully, as a disrespectful spouse who defied superiors could damage the relationship between a ruler and his subject. Understanding the Emperor's fear of his power growing if he married the princess, Mu Yun began to deliberately distance himself from Ming Hua.

Ming Hua quickly sensed the change when he failed to meet her on the Double Seventh Festival. When she confronted him, he gave a cold, formal excuse about being summoned by the Emperor. Hurt by his indifference, she was later approached by a young nobleman who presented her with a rose. In a fit of pique directed at Mu Yun, Ming Hua declared her dislike for roses, preferring peonies.

As Mu Yun turned to leave, she pointedly asked the nobleman to pin the rose in her hair. Days later, Ming Hua learned that the nobleman had asked the Empress Dowager for her hand in marriage. She confronted Mu Yun, but he remained detached, congratulating her and praising the nobleman as a perfect match. Infuriated, Ming Hua accused him of wanting her married off to remove an obstacle so he could marry "that sickly person."

Mu Yun simply reiterated that it was a good match. Overwhelmed with anger, Ming Hua declared her hatred for him and ran off into the snowy night. Subsequently, an imperial edict was announced: Mu Yun, the Chief Cabinet Minister, was to marry the virtuous daughter of the Guo Family.

Episode 30 (Ending) Recap

Heavy snow fell as Princess Ming Hua stumbled towards Mu Yun, her Grand Tutor. Seeing her shivering, Mu Yun immediately draped his own cloak over her shoulders, but she pushed it away. Ming Hua confronted him, demanding to know why he would betray their past understanding and marry another. She acknowledged that her royal status would bring him endless trouble but desperately sought only one affirmation: that she had genuinely held a place in his heart.

Mu Yun, however, refused to grant her this simple request. He coldly stated that he had never harbored romantic feelings for her, claiming he merely followed the late Emperor's edict to teach her and expressed regret for giving her a wrong impression. He confessed his humble origins made him unworthy of her and begged her to release him. Hearing him use the words "let me go," Ming Hua’s heart sank in disappointment.

Yet, with unwavering pride, she looked at him and declared that she would indeed release him as he wished, but vowed to make sure he would never forget her. She then kissed him, but felt no sincerity in his response, concluding that he truly held no affection for her. With a heavy heart, Ming Hua announced her intention to marry the heir of Marquis Pingxi, claiming they had fallen for each other.

She instructed Mu Yun to inform His Majesty and the Empress Dowager of her decision, pointedly stating that her wedding would be set for the very same day as his own. She candidly admitted that Mu Yun had been her first choice, but since he had committed to another, she would no longer trouble him, offering a pre-emptive wish for his happiness.

The capital buzzed with excitement as the weddings of both Chief Cabinet Minister Mu Yun and Princess Ming Hua were set for the same day. Amidst the celebratory atmosphere of his own wedding, Mu Yun, consumed by inner turmoil, was jolted from a vivid fantasy by his attendant.

In this imagined scene, he had ridden furiously through the streets to Ming Hua's wedding, defying a stern warning that breaking in would be considered resistance to the edict and brand him a rebel. In his mind, he declared he would take her home, but this intense vision was merely a desperate longing he could not act upon. The stark reality of their respective wedding days set in.

Ming Hua unveiled her red head covering, her eyes filled with sorrow, for the consort beside her was not the one she yearned for. Simultaneously, Mu Yun, looking at his own bride, showed no happiness on his face. As the night deepened, two pairs of newlyweds, four unfortunate souls, were trapped in their separate miseries. In a dreamlike state, Ming Hua saw Mu Yun slowly approach her. " Is this a dream, or is it real?"

she wondered aloud, "If it's a dream, I hope I never wake up." Believing he was finally with her, she kissed him. Years later, a pregnant Ming Hua walked alone in a garden. Servants observed from a distance, noting that despite an outward appearance of harmony, her marriage to the consort was clearly strained and she was suffering. From afar, Mu Yun watched her, his heart aching as he witnessed her unspoken sadness, yet he dared not approach.

One day, Ming Hua, setting aside her royal dignity, knelt before Mu Yun. She explained that her consort had been accused of conspiracy and pleaded with Mu Yun to save her two innocent children, emphasizing that only he had the Emperor's ear now. Deeply moved, Mu Yun helped her rise, assuring her he had already planned to seek His Majesty's clemency for the two young lords.

He vowed to protect her children even if it cost him his life, proclaiming that his lifelong aspiration had been to ensure she remained happy and above all, never having to bow to anyone. He lamented that her kneeling had buried his life's pursuit and expressed profound guilt for failing the late Emperor's trust.

Ming Hua, in turn, told him he had committed no wrong and expressed regret for the burdens she had unknowingly placed upon him, acknowledging that no one else had cared for her as deeply. Declaring she had no regrets in life after meeting him, she gently inquired about his well-being. Mu Yun revealed that his wife had passed away three months after their wedding and that he had since adopted a son who treated him as a father.

Ming Hua then posed a poignant question: if they could start over, would he lie to her again? Mu Yun did not answer directly, and she saw his silence as confirmation, her eyes filling with disappointment. He then told her His Majesty had ordered his confinement to the Princess's residence, meaning he could never leave. He urged her to take care of herself as she aged.

Looking at each other, they expressed a shared wish for a next life where they would not wrong each other or miss their chance. Mu Yun then solemnly vowed that in another life, he would abandon everything to stay by her side forever. Desperate to save Ming Hua's children, Mu Yun attempted to force his way into the Imperial Palace, but was blocked by guards. He kowtowed relentlessly, but failed to gain an audience with the Emperor.

Meanwhile, news reached Ming Hua that His Majesty had refused to withdraw his edict; her two sons were in the death cells, scheduled for execution the next day. Realizing all hope was lost, Ming Hua quietly instructed her attendants to prepare her zither and a cup of poisoned wine, signaling her final, tragic decision. Many years later, an elderly, white-haired Mu Yun sat in profound agony.

He suddenly coughed up blood that splattered onto a cherished painting of a youthful Ming Hua, marring the beautiful image. Overwhelmed by grief, he collapsed onto the painting. In a serene, ethereal scene, a gentle wind rustled white curtains. Mu Yun and Ming Hua, dressed in the simple clothes of common villagers, stood together, their hands clasped tightly. Ming Hua asked Mu Yun if he regretted losing his status as Chief Cabinet Minister to live a simple life with her.

Mu Yun lovingly replied that for her, not just in this life, but for all eternity, he would willingly remain a countryman and would never regret it. Hand in hand, they walked away into the distance, finally together in a peaceful existence free from the burdens of their past.
