Shen Chenyang brought Xiaoman to his residence, a place he called his home, which Xiaoman found less exaggerated than she expected. Xiaoman directly stated her purpose for coming, asking him to stop pursuing her as his actions were causing her significant distress. She even apologized if she had offended him, admitting defeat.
However, Shen Chenyang firmly refused to give up, insisting he was truly pursuing her and offering to let her hit him back more times than she had previously hit him. Their attention then shifted to his pet pig, Jiong Niu. Xiaoman, having heard a rumor that Jiong Niu was left by an ex-girlfriend, inquired about it. Shen Chenyang clarified that Jiong Niu was abandoned due to a congenital heart condition and he had rescued her, making her "his daughter."
Xiaoman, showing immediate concern, affectionately stroked the pig, a sight that made Shen Chenyang even more fond of her. As they talked, Shen Chenyang received phone calls from Zhan Yue and Zuo An, who took turns on the phone, urgently demanding to know Xiaoman's whereabouts. Shen Chenyang dismissed Zhan Yue's presence, while Zuo An directly threatened Shen Chenyang, insisting he would come to pick Xiaoman up and warning him against harming her.
Shen Chenyang, however, dismissed their concerns, telling them he would ensure Xiaoman returned safely. When Xiaoman decided to leave, Shen Chenyang strongly insisted on driving her back to school, despite her attempts to decline his offer, stating that as her senior, he felt responsible for her safe return. Upon arriving at the school gate, they were immediately intercepted by Zuo An and Zhan Yue, who had been waiting. A heated argument erupted among the three men vying for Xiaoman's attention.
Zhan Yue and Shen Chenyang exchanged insults, while Zuo An asserted his right to take Xiaoman. Amidst the chaos, Zuo An decisively took Xiaoman away. Xiaoman, perturbed by their strange behavior, expressed her frustration, reminding them she could have walked back to the dorm herself. Zuo An, however, chastised her for daring to get into Shen Chenyang's car, questioning her judgment and dismissing Shen Chenyang's pursuit as insincere, calling him "insane."
Xiaoman retorted, feeling that Zuo An implied she was not likable. Zuo An then took Xiaoman to dinner, where they shared beef noodles. Xiaoman, realizing Zuo An had waited for her without eating, thanked him for his concern. During their meal, Xiaoman unintentionally mentioned Zhan Yue, causing Zuo An to feel a hint of jealousy.
She then suggested inviting Zhan Yue to join them, but Zuo An quickly dismissed the idea, saying Zhan Yue wouldn't come if he knew Zuo An was there and could take care of himself. After dinner, Zuo An walked Xiaoman back. Despite her burning curiosity about his relationship with Sun Anning, Xiaoman hesitated to ask directly.
When she finally tried to inquire if Sun Anning was his girlfriend, Zuo An simply explained that they had grown up together, their parents were good friends, and that Sun Anning was a kind and helpful person, implying Xiaoman and Sun Anning would get along well. He then wished her good night, leaving Xiaoman frustrated by his ambiguous answer. Back in her dormitory, Xiaoman was immediately interrogated by Liu Dan and Zhou Lina.
They excitedly showed her a photo posted on the school's internal network depicting the three boys quarreling over her at the school gate. The post was filled with wild comments speculating about Xiaoman's relationships, even accusing her of "N-timing." Xiaoman vehemently denied the rumors, insisting they were all made up and expressing distress, particularly worried about how Zuo An might perceive her. Meanwhile, Zuo An and Zhan Yue had also seen the online post.
Sun Anning called Zuo An, questioning him about his relationship with Xiaoman after seeing the post and an implied video. Zuo An tried to dismiss it as nonsense, but Anning insisted he wouldn't show such concern for someone unless he liked them. Zuo An maintained it was his personal business. He then asked Anning if she could contact the website administrator to remove the post, explaining it was detrimental to both him and Xiaoman.
Anning calmly informed him that the post had already been deleted. Unbeknownst to Zuo An, Shen Chenyang had been the one to have it removed, observing the public's perception of him with a degree of satisfaction. Later, Xiaoman spoke to Zuo An about the online rumors, apologizing for involving him.
Zuo An, however, reassured her not to let baseless rumors bother her, advising her to focus on her studies and cherish her university life, especially given the difficulty of medical school. The next day, while eating in the cafeteria, Xiaoman accidentally bumped into Lin Nana, who had previously shown interest in Shen Chenyang. Lin Nana seized the opportunity to humiliate Xiaoman, demanding she wipe her shoes and making snide remarks about the online rumors.
Despite Zhou Lina's attempt to intervene, Lin Nana refused to back down. Xiaoman offered to wipe the shoes as a gesture to end the conflict and maintain peace, but Lin Nana scornfully rejected her offer, suggesting it was best to keep distance from someone as "famous" as Xiaoman. Xiaoman and Zhou Lina then left the scene. Shortly after, Shen Chenyang approached Xiaoman again, relentlessly trying to get her to eat with him.
To deter his persistent advances, Xiaoman blurted out that she had a boyfriend and, in a desperate gesture, pointed randomly, landing her finger directly on Zuo An, who was nearby. Startled by her own impulsive action, Xiaoman quickly fled the cafeteria. Her dorm mates later questioned her about the "boyfriend," noting the uncanny accuracy of her random pointer.
While Xiaoman insisted it was just a spur-of-the-moment lie to get rid of Shen Chenyang, Zhou Lina warned her that Zuo An, being handsome and intelligent, might be "fickle in love," like a "central air conditioner" given his close ties to Sun Anning. Xiaoman, however, defended Zuo An, asserting he wasn't that type of person. During military training, the instructor introduced simple grappling moves for self-defense.
When students were told to pair up for practice, Lin Nana proactively chose Xiaoman as her partner. During their practice, Lin Nana intentionally launched an aggressive attack, seemingly aiming to harm Xiaoman. However, Xiaoman instinctively defended herself and counter-attacked. Lin Nana was thrown to the ground and immediately feigned a severe injury, dramatically appealing for sympathy. Xiaoman, unable to fully explain her actions, was criticized by the instructor for her heavy-handedness and ordered to apologize to Lin Nana.
Xiaoman, indignant and feeling unfairly targeted, adamantly refused to apologize. To punish her defiance, the instructor challenged Xiaoman to a military posture standing contest, stating that if Xiaoman gave up first, she would have to apologize. Xiaoman readily accepted, preferring the punishment over an unmerited apology. Xiaoman stoically endured the standing punishment under the hot sun, refusing to give in. Zuo An, upon learning of the situation, quickly rushed over.
Others urged him to persuade Xiaoman to stop, but Zuo An understood Xiaoman's stubborn and principled nature, knowing she would never back down once she made a stand. He decided to simply stay by her side, ready to assist when needed. As expected, Xiaoman eventually collapsed from heatstroke. Zuo An, Shen Chenyang, and Zhan Yue immediately ran to her.
Shen Chenyang and Zhan Yue began to quarrel and scuffle over who would help Xiaoman, but Zuo An swiftly lifted Xiaoman and carried her to the infirmary, an unexpected act that surprised Sun Anning. Upon waking in the infirmary, Xiaoman expressed her sadness and disappointment at having fainted and "lost" the contest. Zuo An gently comforted her, telling her not to dwell on it and that her well-being was more important than winning.
He playfully chided her for her impulsiveness, hinting he might tell her distant father if she acted recklessly again, but then softened his tone, calling her "a bit silly but cute." He then left to buy her some fruit, and as he departed, Shen Chenyang arrived.
