Wind Direction Episode 6 Recap
> Wind Direction Recap
In the summer of 1997, Cheng Yaya suffered an injury to his forehead after a fight with other children. His sister, Cheng Miaomiao, called him useless for getting into a fight, while their parents had differing views; his father, Cheng Pengfei, advocated for reasoned discussions over physical altercations, but his mother encouraged Yaya to fight back if bullied. Meanwhile, a conflict between Li Si and Qiang Xiaowa escalated to their teacher, Gao Feiyang.
Li Si tearfully claimed that Qiang Xiaowa kicked him first. Qiang Xiaowa remained silent until Gao Feiyang questioned him, then quietly stated he had no parents before offering an apology. Cheng Miaomiao rushed in, asserting it was merely a misunderstanding and a playful Shaolin kung fu demonstration gone awry, and dismissed Li Si’s complaints, saying he was prone to exaggeration.
Gao Feiyang, aware of their true intentions, sternly warned them against future incidents, emphasizing that character was paramount and fighting was a low-class way to solve problems. He threatened both Li Si and Qiang Xiaowa with expulsion if it happened again. Leaving the office, Li Si felt betrayed by Cheng Miaomiao, arguing that she had not supported him, the true victim. Miaomiao, however, was preoccupied; she saw Cheng Yaya heading to the office with bruises on his face.
She discovered that Luo Zheng had sought revenge on Yaya after school for Yaya's defense of Yuan Shanqing, and Yaya had fought back. When Luo Zheng and Yaya appeared before Han Shu and Gao Feiyang, Luo Zheng still showed no remorse, declaring that a "wanted man's child" had no right to attend school and accusing Yuan Shanqing and her family of being accomplices.
Yaya clarified that he intervened because Luo Zheng intended to harm Yuan Shanqing, and he retaliated when Luo Zheng attacked him later. Han Shu reprimanded Luo Zheng, stating the school was not a place where he could apprehend "bad guys." Luo Zheng remained defiant, questioning who the real "bad guy" was. After seeing Yaya had been beaten, Cheng Miaomiao expressed her desire to immediately confront Luo Zheng.
Yaya, however, insisted it was a mutual fight and urged her to stay out of it. Later, Li Si confronted Qiang Xiaowa by a small bridge, demanding an explanation and challenging him to a one-on-one fight. Qiang Xiaowa's large, imposing dog, Babao, appeared, frightening Li Si, who backed away. Cheng Miaomiao’s arrival further deterred Li Si from initiating a fight.
Miaomiao told Li Si that fighting wouldn't solve anything, but she vowed to help him, promising to bring two more dogs from their compound next time to ensure victory. Li Si scoffed at the idea of using the fat dogs, and Miaomiao complained that both he and her brother Yaya were hopeless at fighting. After school, Li Si was playing at an arcade when Daguo, his father Li Dahai’s colleague, approached him.
Daguo borrowed eighty yuan from Li Si, promising to return it soon. He then went into an inner room. Later, Daguo emerged and returned one hundred yuan to Li Si, sparking Li Si’s curiosity about the game played in the inner room. Cheng Yaya came home with more bruises, but claimed he fell while walking. Cheng Pengfei, being a doctor, easily saw through the lie, and Yaya eventually admitted he fought "for justice."
Cheng Pengfei, though upset by Yaya's fighting, acknowledged his son's noble intention. Yaya and Li Si were assigned duty together. Yuan Shanqing consistently arrived late for class, looking lost, prompting Yaya to share his book with her. Meanwhile, Qiang Xiaowa, unaware of the rule, entered the computer lab without shoe covers. When reprimanded by the teacher, he turned to leave, declaring he wouldn't attend the class.
Cheng Miaomiao, armed with a dumbbell, stormed into Yaya's classroom, intending to avenge her brother, but Yaya quickly spotted her and sent her away. Xiao Wan, a teacher, was frustrated with Qiang Xiaowa's disregard for school rules, noting his unkempt hair, un-uniformed attire, lack of shoe covers, and poor Mandarin. Gao Feiyang arrived and intervened, deflecting Xiao Wan's complaints and sending Qiang Xiaowa back to class.
Cheng Pengfei received a call that his brother-in-law, Jia Baoshan, had been involved in a car accident. He rushed to help, only to find Jia Baoshan in a physical altercation with the other driver, feigning severe injuries to extort compensation. Jia Baoshan claimed he inherited his "bandit's luck" from his birth, when a rainbow appeared after a week of rain. Cheng Pengfei’s wife, Jia Daiyu, arrived, relieved that Baoshan was not seriously hurt.
She scolded him for always being troublesome and relying on their parents. Baoshan revealed he was staying in the hospital for a "full check-up" to get compensation from the driver. Li Si later joined Baoshan, and the two, finding common ground, decided to seek out "something fun" to do. At the office, Niu Lingling and Li Dahai discussed an opportunity for promotion to Petroleum Bridge.
Niu Lingling advocated using her father’s connections, but Li Dahai firmly refused, stating that being accused of riding on his father-in-law's coattails was his biggest regret. Niu Lingling, despite his objections, went to great lengths for his career, drinking until three in the morning with the Petroleum Bridge leaders to secure his opportunity. Yang Tao sent numerous cassette tapes to Hu Qiumin.
Cheng Miaomiao was preoccupied with becoming class monitor, hoping her role in diffusing the Qiang Xiaowa incident would help her win. Jia Daiyu, Hu Yue, and Niu Lingling went to get their hair permed. While waiting, they discussed famous actors, with Jia Daiyu expressing a preference for Alex Man. Suddenly, they recognized a man as a scammer who had sold fake medicine, nearly harming Hu Yue's son.
A chaotic street chase ensued, culminating in them cornering the scammer and discovering his hideout. Dressed in his father's oversized suit, Li Si joined his uncle, Jia Baoshan, who was also dressed for the occasion, outside a casino. Li Si, curious about the inner room Daguo mentioned, wanted to go inside, but Baoshan, boasting about his experiences in Macau and Las Vegas, forbade him, insisting he wait outside while he handled the "serious matters" within.
Li Si, unable to control his curiosity, eventually sneaked into the casino. There, he surprisingly encountered Qiang Xiaowa. Recognizing the casino as a dangerous place, Qiang Xiaowa intervened, physically restraining Li Si and preventing him from entering the inner room to deliver money to his uncle, just as the police raided the establishment.
