Zhang Daniao confessed to Xiang Zeyi that he found the "sweetest part" of the proposal too embarrassing to say to Liu Xinran, even though he could say it easily to Xiang Zeyi. He emphasized that he only intended to propose once in his lifetime and wished for it to be a success.
Xiang Zeyi then asked if he was truly committed to marrying Liu Xinran, to which Zhang Daniao firmly replied that she was the only one he would marry. Xiang Zeyi then advised him to express his determination directly to Liu Xinran, suggesting a simple line: "I, Zhang Daniao, am the one who will live with you forever." Zhang Daniao then practiced his proposal once more, saying, "Liu Xinran, marry me. I'll take care of you in my whole life."
Xiang Zeyi reflected that promising eternal love is not easy, and sometimes, even restarting requires immense courage. Zhang Daniao then left, feeling prepared. Her mother had asked if she and Lin Sen were having problems because he hadn't been coming over for meals, but Ye Zi brushed her off. When Xiang Zeyi called, he mentioned her phone was busy. Ye Zi explained she was talking to her mother. Xiang Zeyi then requested to meet her at her studio in an hour to discuss business.
An hour later, Ye Zi arrived at her studio, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement to meet Xiang Zeyi. She began to tidy up her cluttered workspace. Xiang Zeyi arrived promptly. Their work discussion proceeded efficiently, as Ye Zi had prepared a comprehensive plan, detailing their requirements, cooperation strategy, character settings, and animation adjustments. She also provided suggestions based on her research of the overseas team.
Xiang Zeyi approved her proposals, stating he would manage communication with the scriptwriter and the overseas team, acknowledging her suggestions were pertinent. After their meeting, Ye Zi led Xiang Zeyi to the small garden outside her studio, where Zhu Xuan had bought several landscape plants. Ye Zi was watering them, and Xiang Zeyi offered to help. Lin Sen hurried to their home, only to discover it was a pretext for him to have dinner with them, and Ye Zi was not even there. He politely excused himself, citing urgent hospital duties, and left despite Ye Zi's mother's insistence. Observing the ongoing issues between Lin Sen and Ye Zi, Ye Zi's mother devised another plan. She obtained two restaurant coupons, intending to give one to each of them, hoping they would go out and eat together.
Meanwhile, Yuan Lang returned home to find Zhu Xuan still out. He waited for her on the sofa. When Zhu Xuan finally returned late from a party, Yuan Lang gently questioned her about her late return and asked if she could come home earlier. Zhu Xuan, however, perceived his concern as an interrogation, became upset, and went to bed without further discussion.
Later, Ye Zi waited alone at a restaurant for Lin Sen, who was supposed to join her for dinner using one of the coupons. Unexpectedly, Xiang Zeyi appeared. He explained he was just passing by after a business meeting with Mr. Shao and stopped to say hello when he saw her. Ye Zi, finding it boring to eat alone, invited him to join her, and he readily accepted. At that very moment, Lin Sen arrived at the restaurant.
Seeing Ye Zi and Xiang Zeyi already seated and eating together, he quietly drove away without entering. He parked his car by the roadside, lost in memories of his younger days with Ye Zi. He remembered finding a beautiful, quiet spot near their school for her to practice painting for her art academy entrance exam. They shared many happy and carefree moments there, full of laughter.
Snapping out of his reverie, Lin Sen drove off, leaving behind a trail of cigarette butts. As Yuan Lang's birthday approached, Zhu Xuan was secretly busy making a cake for him. During this time, Cheng Xi called Ye Zi, saying she had left her USB drive at the studio. Ye Zi arranged for Wu Kai to deliver it to Cheng Xi, who also went by Xiaoxi.
On the day of Yuan Lang's birthday, Lin Sen, Liu Xinran, Cheng Xi, and Zhang Daniao gathered at Yuan Lang's house to decorate for the celebration. Zhu Xuan, however, was running late because she went to get the cake.
While waiting, the friends shared stories, including Liu Xinran's confession about secretly using Zhu Xuan's towel to clean spilled milk tea at school and Cheng Xi admitting she was the one who broke Ye Zi's pencil, though Zhu Xuan had taken the blame for it. Lin Sen expressed concern about Zhu Xuan's mysterious behavior lately, but Zhang Daniao reassured him that every girl has her secrets. As time passed, Yuan Lang decided to go pick up Zhu Xuan himself.
Zhu Xuan, carefully carrying the birthday cake she had poured so much effort into, encountered a drunk man on the street. He harassed her and, in the scuffle, knocked over the cake. Just then, Yuan Lang arrived, saw what was happening, and fiercely beat the drunk man before comforting a tearful Zhu Xuan. He assured her not to be afraid and that he was there for her.
Back at home, after Zhu Xuan had fallen asleep, Yuan Lang looked at the ruined cake, deeply moved by the love and effort she had put into making it for him.
