After the joint exam results were released, Su Zaizai nervously checked the scores. She didn't focus on her own performance but immediately looked for Zhang Lurang's results, especially his English score. Upon discovering he scored 101, Su Zaizai was overjoyed. She excitedly found Zhang Lurang to share the good news, but he appeared calm, explaining that he had already estimated his score after the exam.
Disappointed by the lack of surprise, Su Zaizai was then led by Zhang Lurang to see her own scores, revealing she had also done well, with a significant improvement in math thanks to his tutoring. The next day, as promised, Su Zaizai gave Zhang Lurang a talking doll as a reward for his good grades. In class, their teacher, Lin Mao, announced the upcoming autumn sports meet and asked the class monitor, Wang Nan, to handle registrations.
Most students were reluctant to participate, but Su Zaizai and Jiang Jia signed up for the 1,000 meters to help out. Meanwhile, Class 1 used a more direct method: drawing lots. Zhang Lurang drew the 100-meter sprint, while Gu Ran drew shot put. Gu Ran complained that shot put was a waste of his long legs, but when another student offered to trade for his 2,000-meter race, Gu Ran quickly decided that shot put wasn't so bad after all.
That evening, Su Zaizai messaged Zhang Lurang, confidently bragging that she would get a top-three finish in her race, as her mother could never catch her when chasing her with slippers as a child. The next morning, while on her way to buy rice noodle rolls for her father, Su Zaizai saw Zhang Lurang walking his golden retriever, Susu. Startled by the dog, which shares her nickname, she lost control of her bicycle and fell, injuring her leg.
Zhang Lurang immediately rushed her to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor treated her external wound and ordered a CT scan to check for bone damage. While waiting, Gu Ran's father, a doctor, spotted them and commented on how surprising it was that his boisterous son was friends with such quiet students. Just then, Jiang Jia burst in, whose loud personality immediately reminded Dr. Gu of his son.
While Su Zaizai and Zhang Lurang went to get the CT results, Jiang Jia consulted Dr. Gu about her hair loss problem. Gu Ran arrived to bring his father keys and overheard their conversation, mistakenly believing Jiang Jia had a terminal illness. Distraught, he confessed to all his past pranks against her. Realizing his mistake, Jiang Jia made him promise to keep her "secret" and pulled him away, clarifying she wasn't sick without revealing the truth about her hair loss.
Zhang Lurang took Su Zaizai home, thoughtfully buying her the rice noodle rolls she wanted, and offered to take her to and from school while she recovered. Thrilled at the chance to spend more time with him, Su Zaizai decided to feign continued pain even after her leg had mostly healed. Since she could no longer compete in the sports meet, she took on the role of class photographer.
On the day of the sports meet, Su Zaizai was busy taking pictures. She watched as a teacher, Director Chang, easily won a faculty race, an annual tradition. Later, during the tug-of-war, Su Zaizai and her friends cheered loudly for their class monitor, Wang Nan. However, upon seeing Zhang Lurang in the distance, she immediately quieted down, fearing he might misunderstand her enthusiasm.
She later explained to him that they were cheering for Wang Nan, whom they nicknamed "Nan Shen" (Nan God). When Zhang Lurang asked if she was interested in him, she feigned indifference. That night, privately relieved her leg was fine, Su Zaizai lamented that her injury had healed, wondering how much longer she could keep up the pretense to enjoy rides on Zhang Lurang’s bike.
