Meanwhile, Yan Jingzhi presided over a business meeting, where a representative from TS Architectural Design Company presented a minimalist architectural design.
Clearly preoccupied, Yan Jingzhi abruptly concluded the meeting, instructing that all design proposals be sent directly to his office. His colleagues noticed his distracted state, linking it to Nie Xingchen's recent departure, though they quickly dismissed their speculation. Nie Xingchen proceeded to her interview at Yatai with Mr. Gu. When questioned about Yuanda's "acquisition" by Bojue, she clarified that Yuanda had chosen to "join" the transnational group to increase its market share and competitiveness.
She explained her move was driven by a desire for a role more aligned with her professional background, leading her to apply for an HR position at Yatai. Mr. Gu then offered her a position at a new Shanghai branch, highlighting her qualifications as ideal for its development. Nie Xingchen, hesitant to leave the city she had lived in for nine years, requested time to consider. As she was leaving, Yan Jingzhi arrived to meet Mr. Gu.
Assuming they were strangers, Mr. Gu mentioned he had just interviewed Nie Xingchen. While visiting his father's grave, Yan Jingzhi recalled his father's rigid and controlling nature. Later, Zhao Yuanfang requested annual leave to see Nie Xingchen off. He deliberately provoked Yan Jingzhi by describing her destination as a "poor and remote backwater," implying she was leaving because of him. Agitated, Yan Jingzhi confronted Nie Xingchen, accusing her of leaving for a "poor and remote place" as an act of atonement. She clarified she was moving to Shanghai for work.
