Meanwhile, Wang Di and Zhang Liang successfully completed the design of the Pickup software, allowing the team to proceed with closed beta testing. Using her own childhood name, Lin Jiaojiao, Janice used the newly completed Pickup software to post a message searching for her kindergarten crush. In her message, she vividly recalled biting his arm during playtime and wondered if a scar remained, apologizing for the pain.
Hesitant at first because she had forgotten his name, she decided to send the message anyway. Days later, she was ecstatic to receive an email from him, setting up a meeting. The misunderstanding about Zhou Yunbo’s role was soon clarified; Xu Jiaxiu had actually tricked Ye Angyang with a copy of the employee handbook. He assigned Zhou Yunbo to work as the company's receptionist. Zhou Yunbo, taking his new role with zealous responsibility, meticulously questioned every delivery person and courier, demanding their identification and recording their details. Zhang Liang was sent to the front desk to hurry the food, where he found Zhou Yunbo still interrogating a delivery person. Janice was taken aback, realizing her long-lost first love wasn't the refined Ouyang Xuan, but the lively Shao Yifeng. Her colleagues, including Ye Angyang, playfully teased her. Janice, feeling awkward, led Shao Yifeng away, asking him to call her Janice at work. Shao Yifeng, undeterred, expressed a desire to tour the company. Janice gave him a brief, almost dismissive, overview of the office and its staff before telling him to look around on his own.
Noticing Janice hadn't eaten, Shao Yifeng invited her to lunch. Despite her reluctance, she eventually agreed, pulling Ye Angyang along to join them. During the meal, Shao Yifeng recounted childhood anecdotes, such as Janice's aversion to coriander and how she comforted him when he cried, or their bubblegum-blowing contests. Janice's initial reserve melted away as they reminisced, their conversation flowing easily while Ye Angyang struggled to interject. Feeling the renewed connection, Janice invited Shao Yifeng to visit the company anytime.
When Shao Yifeng suggested playing games, an activity Janice loved but rarely found companions for, she eagerly agreed. Overcome with nostalgic affection, Shao Yifeng spontaneously put his arms around Janice's neck, just like he used to as a child, leaving Ye Angyang dumbfounded. Janice’s successful reunion with her first love through Pickup deeply inspired Xu Jiaxiu. He convened a meeting, announcing that the closed beta test had already begun and, if successful, Pickup would officially launch as planned.
He assigned tasks to various departments, including Ye Angyang, who was tasked with redesigning the icon. Ye Angyang decided to abandon his previous ideas and start fresh on the design. That night, Xu Jiaxiu and Ye Angyang met on a basketball court, engaging in an intense match that ended in a tie. After their game, Xu Jiaxiu finally admitted he had intercepted Lu Jia’s love letter to Ye Angyang years ago.
Ye Angyang, already aware of Xu Jiaxiu and Lu Jia's current relationship, accepted the apology gracefully. He recounted how he had once confided in Xu Jiaxiu about his crush on Lu Jia, describing how he would secretly deliver milk to her with hand-drawn cartoons. Ye Angyang confronted Xu Jiaxiu, accusing him of using this information to scare him off and clear his own path. Xu Jiaxiu countered that he had merely stated facts. Despite the past manipulation, Ye Angyang, acknowledging Xu Jiaxiu and Lu Jia’s mutual affection, extended his blessings. Xu Jiaxiu then expressed his profound gratitude, stating that Lu Jia was the woman he loved and Ye Angyang his best friend, and he never wanted to lose either of them.
The two friends, having cleared the air and reaffirmed their bond, finally reconciled. Ye Angyang’s new design for Pickup, featuring a grand tree with spreading branches, perfectly symbolized the social networking app's connections and was quickly approved by Xu Jiaxiu. With Pickup officially entering its online operation phase, everyone worked tirelessly. Shao Yifeng stopped by to see Janice, but Zhou Yunbo informed him that everyone was working late, prompting Shao Yifeng to leave.
Seeing how exhausted Xu Jiaxiu was, Lu Jia urged him to take the upcoming weekend off to rest. The following Saturday morning, as Lu Jia prepared a meal at home, she affectionately told Xu Jiaxiu to go out and enjoy the day, promising that a delicious meal would be waiting for him when he returned.
