Inside the factory, Ran Dongyang, Xu Zhiyi, and Yan Dai discovered a cluttered, stuffy room. Seeking sensational content for their show, Ran Dongyang instructed Xu Zhiyi to film him as he deliberately set a small fire and then extinguished it, staging a scene where he acted as a fire safety inspector who had uncovered a hazard. Just then, Nan Chu and Jiang Ge arrived and witnessed the staged event.
Nan Chu confronted Ran Dongyang, calling him reckless for starting a fire. When she tried to leave, Ran Dongyang blocked her path, fearing she would report him to Lin Luxiao. Ran Dongyang appealed to Jiang Ge, arguing that as a producer, he should understand the need for dramatic effect, but Nan Chu remained adamant about the danger. Amidst their argument, Yan Dai noticed thick smoke coming from under a nearby warehouse door. Moments later, an explosion shook the building.
Lin Luxiao, hearing the blast, immediately instructed Zheng Yang to contact the Command Center and ordered a full evacuation. However, the explosion had jammed a door, trapping Nan Chu's group inside. A report was dispatched requesting backup for an unknown fire with an unknown number of trapped individuals. Trapped, Nan Chu called Lin Luxiao, giving him their location in a disused warehouse and describing the intense fire. He ordered his team to break down the door immediately.
Inside, a frightened Nan Chu feared they wouldn't survive. Jiang Ge devised a plan to break through a weak section of the wall to create an escape route. After they smashed a hole, Jiang Ge climbed up to a high window and threw a rope down. As he climbed, a fearful Ran Dongyang complained, asking why Jiang Ge didn't just carry him up.
Once the rope was down, Ran Dongyang hesitated, suggesting he should look for another exit while Jiang Ge saved the women. Nan Chu insisted Yan Dai and Xu Zhiyi climb first. After Yan Dai was pulled to safety, a distracted Xu Zhiyi, concerned about her footage, urged her to leave, but Yan Dai stayed to help pull Nan Chu up. As they tried, the rope snapped, and Nan Chu fell, injuring herself.
She urged the others to flee and find Lin Luxiao. Informed that Nan Chu was still trapped, Lin Luxiao and his team broke through the door. He found a semi-conscious Nan Chu in the intense heat, reassured her, and carried her out of the burning building. At the hospital, Nan Chu suffered a stress reaction, talking in her sleep. Fire investigators found a camera, which Jiang Ge confirmed belonged to Ran Dongyang, blaming his stunt for the chaos.
The official investigation, however, concluded the fire was caused by the construction team's code violations, not Ran Dongyang. Still, Nan Chu’s injury meant the program would face consequences. Later, Lin Luxiao advised Lei Dagang to set clear professional boundaries with the factory owner, Chen Yilong, to avoid future complications. Disgusted by Ran Dongyang's cowardice, Jiang Ge told his partner, Han Beiyao, that he refused to work with him anymore.
Han Beiyao offered to handle the situation, explaining to his assistant that exposing Ran Dongyang could backfire, as Ran might manipulate the scandal and harm Nan Chu's reputation. Jiang Ge later argued with his father, Jiang Wende, who dismissed Jiang Ge's ability to manage the crisis and declared he would intervene. Jiang Wende then called Han Beiyao, stating his only goal as a businessman was to minimize losses.
They agreed to arrange a press conference with the fire department to resolve the controversy. Lin Luxiao and his brother, Lin Qi, went to the hospital but learned from Xi Gu that Nan Chu had already been discharged. Lin Luxiao called her and found out she was on a bus to Nanbin, determined to find the truth about the firefighter who saved her five years ago, as doubts about his identity had surfaced.
Later, over a meal, Lin Qi bluntly asked his brother if he liked Nan Chu. Lin Luxiao admitted without hesitation, "I like her very much." In Nanbin, Nan Chu met Officer Wu Zhibo at the fire station and questioned why Captain Xu Jianfei, a Nanbin firefighter, would have been at a fire in Beixun five years ago. Recalling the event, Officer Wu called Lin Luxiao.
He reminded Lin Luxiao of a time when Xu Jianfei was visiting his station for training; in the rush of an emergency call, Lin Luxiao had mistakenly grabbed and worn Xu Jianfei’s uniform. When Wu Zhibo mentioned the name of the girl he had saved—Nan Chu—Lin Luxiao was stunned. Realizing the truth, he abruptly ended the call and rushed out.
Lin Luxiao tried desperately to call Nan Chu, but her line was busy, as she, having just learned the truth from Officer Wu, was also trying to call him. Finally, her call connected. " Five years ago," she said, "the one who saved me was you." Hearing a bus announcement in the background, she asked where he was. He replied that he was at the station, standing next to her bus. " It's raining," he said, "I came to pick you up." They found each other in the station, their long-unspoken connection finally clear.
