Qin Yiyue was unaware of this, prompting Ruowei to explain that Lin Wei was now the head of He's marketing department, responsible for promoting He Qiaoyan's "precious band" in the European and American markets. Ruowei noted the significance of He Qiaoyan not informing Qin Yiyue, suggesting it indicated his guilt.
Later that evening, Qin Yiyue, alone at home, expressed her frustration by hitting a pillow adorned with He Qiaoyan's photo, questioning why he hadn't told her. He Qiaoyan, hearing the commotion from his bed and measuring the "manmade noise" with his phone, came into the room. Qin Yiyue feigned an apology, but He Qiaoyan, seeing his photo on the pillow, misinterpreted her actions as jealousy over not having a cartoon pillow of him.
He offered to custom-make a full-size one, leaving Qin Yiyue utterly flustered. She clarified she didn't want his pillow and would have nightmares, lamenting that he'd misunderstood her and thought she was obsessed with him. The next morning, Qin Yiyue had planned a weekend outing, including horse riding, but He Qiaoyan announced he had to work overtime and left without breakfast. Qin Yiyue suspected he was having breakfast with Lin Wei.
Meanwhile, Poppet, noticing his mommy's unhappiness, asked Xiao'an for the reason. Xiao'an explained that Qin Yiyue's "love rival" was now working with his father. Learning this, Poppet decided their weekend activity should be a visit to his dad's company. Qin Yiyue prepared tuna sandwiches for He Qiaoyan. On the way, she repeatedly asked Poppet if she looked pretty.
At the company, Lin Wei was also present, offering He Qiaoyan sandwiches and warning against tuna, citing designer Lucas's strong dislike for it. He Qiaoyan told Qin Yiyue to set her lunch down, assuring her he would take her and Poppet out for a proper meal after his hour-long meeting.
As Qin Yiyue went to the restroom, Poppet seized the opportunity to sneak into the office and drop a fake bug into Lin Wei's coffee, causing her to spill it on herself. He Qiaoyan promptly scolded Poppet. After the incident, Lin Wei confronted Qin Yiyue, advising her not to try to climb higher as she would only "fall off miserably." Qin Yiyue tried to reason with He Qiaoyan about how to handle Poppet, emphasizing the need to understand his reasons.
He Qiaoyan, however, dismissed her, stating that Poppet's misbehavior was unforgivable and that his naughtiness was a result of Qin Yiyue spoiling him. He asserted that he understood how to educate children and that misbehavior should be punished regardless of age. Qin Yiyue countered that families needed to spend time together, especially on weekends, recounting how He Qiaoyan had come to work instead of spending time with them, only to scold Poppet when he came to visit.
Frustrated, Qin Yiyue took Poppet to her parents' home. Concurrently, Wen Gu attempted to sabotage Ruowei by assigning her unrelated and demanding tasks, intending to play the hero when she struggled. However, Ruowei efficiently completed all the tasks, even identifying and resolving technical issues in some data.
When Wen Gu later publicly stepped in to "defend" her, Ruowei subtly turned the tables by stating she willingly took on the extra work to learn and grow, explaining that his intervention would actually damage her working relationships. She asserted her confidence in her abilities and her love for learning and challenges, leaving Wen Gu deflated.
Meanwhile, Ning Fang encountered Lin Wei and recognized her from France, where he had once helped her obtain medicine through a Swiss friend due to international student medical insurance limitations. He offered further assistance and suggested they exchange contact information, noting their shared hometown of Qin City.
Lin Wei, however, declined the offer for further medical help and asked Ning Fang to keep their past acquaintance and anything he knew about her from France a secret, asking him not to tell anyone. At Qin Yiyue's parents' house, her mother quickly realized Qin Yiyue had returned without luggage, deducing that she had a fight with He Qiaoyan and was awaiting his apology.
She tried to comfort her, stating that arguments were normal for couples, and playfully suggested Qin Yiyue should have taken He Qiaoyan's money to emphasize her importance. The doorbell then rang, but it was He Qiaoyan's secretary, Mr. Zhong, delivering Qin Yiyue's luggage. He Qiaoyan was reportedly in a meeting with Lin Wei and had given Qin Yiyue time off to be with her parents, further infuriating Qin Yiyue. Suddenly, Qin Yiyue’s father collapsed in the kitchen.
At the hospital, the doctor diagnosed Qin Yiyue's father with Infective Endocarditis, a critical condition, with high surgical risks due to his age and existing conditions like mitral regurgitation and carotid artery occlusion. However, the doctor warned that delaying the surgery would only increase the risks. Qin Yiyue's mother fainted upon hearing the grave news. Overwhelmed and blaming herself for not being there for her parents, Qin Yiyue felt utterly helpless.
He Qiaoyan arrived shortly after, offering comfort and reassurance that everything would be alright. He immediately contacted Professor Xu from GMN Medical Center and other renowned medical experts and teams to assist with the surgery, informing the local doctors of their impending arrival. Qin Yiyue explained to Poppet that his grandfather was sick because he hadn't eaten or slept well, requiring hospitalization, but that he would recover. She then asked Ruowei to take Poppet home to his father.
He Qiaoyan, taking charge, sent Poppet to school and Qin Yiyue's mother home to rest, assuring Qin Yiyue and Ruowei that he and Qin Yiyue would handle the medical arrangements. Later, He Qiaoyan brought wontons to Qin Yiyue. She questioned his immense help, reminding him of their employer-employee agreement. He Qiaoyan simply replied, "Because you are my wife." Qin Yiyue then noticed a message from Lin Wei, asking why He Qiaoyan hadn't been at the company all day.
She asked him about rumors of his past engagement to Lin Wei. He Qiaoyan clarified that their families were old friends, and an engagement was a casual joke from over two decades ago that he never took seriously, emphasizing they merely knew each other since childhood. Feeling relieved by his explanation, Qin Yiyue fed him a wonton, blowing on it first to cool it, and they quietly reconciled.
