Judy, suspecting that Yang Xiaorong was behind Jiang Xiaoguo’s impersonation of the CIO, advised Jiang Xiaoguo to speak with President Lei since President Zhou Xun wouldn't listen to her. Jiang Xiaoguo immediately went to find President Lei, but he refused to hear her out, stating there was no point in discussing what had already happened, and drove away.
Undeterred, Jiang Xiaoguo decided to borrow Duan Zhenyu's car to follow him. She found Duan Zhenyu throwing away his fencing equipment, consumed by despair over his arm injury. When Jiang Xiaoguo asked for his car, explaining she needed to fix a "screwed-up project" and couldn't afford a rental, Duan Zhenyu mocked her, saying an intern like her couldn't possibly "save the critical situation" with just "tiny effort."
Jiang Xiaoguo, however, defiantly declared that "hard-working is another name for miracle" and that he wouldn't understand the value of hardworking people. She then challenged Duan Zhenyu: if she succeeded, he would resume his fencing practice. Duan Zhenyu, agreeing to the bet, allowed her to use his car but insisted on accompanying her to witness her inevitable failure, a prospect Jiang Xiaoguo found frustrating. Back home, Luo Yan's mother suggested she move back to be supervised for her postgraduate exam.
Luo Yan declined, saying she had found a study partner, Lu Ran, and they could supervise each other. Her mother insisted on getting Lu Ran's contact information, threatening to call Luo Yan daily if she refused. As Luo Yan was about to comply, her mother received a call from Zhao Changming, whom she asked to pick her up, and then promptly left. Luo Yan suspected her mother was dating Zhao Changming.
Confiding in her deceased father, Luo Yan admitted she couldn't remain indifferent to her mother moving on, despite initially thinking she wouldn't. The next morning, Luo Yan’s mother scolded her for staying up late and threatened to cut her pocket money if she continued to disregard her studies. Luo Yan later discovered her old, broken game console, a cherished item from her childhood with her father, was missing.
Her maid mentioned throwing away "useless things," leading Luo Yan to believe it was gone. However, her mother later surprised her by presenting the repaired console, explaining she had gone to great lengths to find parts for it. Luo Yan's mother reminisced about her and Luo Yan's father playing together, making Luo Yan realize that her mother hadn't forgotten him.
Her mother then challenged Luo Yan to a game, betting that if she won, Luo Yan would have to adopt an earlier sleep schedule and study diligently, a challenge Luo Yan accepted. On the set, Duan Jiabao and Ouyang Yushuang were working. After waiting for over three hours, Ouyang Yushuang hadn't been called for her shot. Duan Jiabao investigated, discovering that the leading artist, Mei, was having a temper tantrum because her shoes were too tight.
Resourceful, Duan Jiabao offered her own spare shoes, explaining that her actress's feet tend to swell, so she always carries extras. The director, grateful for her quick thinking, rewarded Ouyang Yushuang with an additional close-up shot.
