After Muyun Luan departs, Muyun De orders the release of Mu Ruhanjiang, who was held in a cell/inn. Muyun De intends for Mu Ruhanjiang to become a palace guard, confident that the Muru cavalry will deliver him to the palace immediately upon his release. Mu Ruhanjiang, surprised by his freedom, takes his Hanchu sword.
He then encounters Lu Qingran, a winged person he had known since childhood and had once saved (whose earlier name was Gao Wuyin), who is now the new Emperor of the Winged Tribe. Lu Qingran, possessing wings, takes Mu Ruhanjiang to a wild area and declares his intention to seize the world/empire, believing the Winged Tribe would rule better than humanity.
He argues that humanity's era is ending, attributing this decline to Muyun Sheng's birth, which has caused kings in various states to mobilize troops and citizens to fall into panic. Seeing this as an opportune moment, Lu Qingran aims to drive humanity from its throne. He acknowledges that Mu Ruhanjiang would not assist him directly but hopes that, once humanity is overthrown, Mu Ruhanjiang would side with the Winged Tribe in their subsequent conflicts with the Heluo and Kuafu tribes.
Lu Qingran also states that six tribes are currently contending for the world. Mu Ruhanjiang dismisses Lu Qingran's words as absurd, asserting that individual ambition, not one person's existence, is the root of such problems. He fiercely warns Lu Qingran against harming Muyun Sheng, threatening to break his wings if he does. Lu Qingran confirms he also wishes no harm upon Muyun Sheng, as Muyun Sheng's survival is essential for their chance to seize power.
After Mu Ruhanjiang leaves, Lu Qingran calls out his junior sister, Feng Tingchang, who emerges from the bamboo. She confesses to secretly taking on a lucrative "killing business" without her master's permission, which she describes as a very expensive deal. In the Northern Land, Muru Hanshan's vanguard unit locates the Helan tribe's encampment and confirms Muru Suo's suspicions that the Helan tribe is actively preparing for war.
Hanshan dispatches a subordinate to report back to Muru Suo, while he himself prepares to lead his light cavalry into the camp. Within the Helan camp, Tieyuan confidently discusses his battle plans with Ziyan, who is bound to a torture rack and near death from thirst. Tieyuan reveals his intention to make the camp a graveyard for the Muru cavalry, having prepared traps with Suqin tribe archers to shoot them down.
He sadistically pours water in front of Ziyan only to spill it, further infuriating her. When asked about the women and children who couldn't evacuate, Tieyuan ruthlessly orders them to be left in the camp as bait. Ziyan curses him as an animal, but before she can finish, the Muru cavalry, clad in black armor and riding Lingfeng warhorses, charge into the tribe.
This sight rekindles deep-seated fear and memories of past massacres and hatred among the Hanzhou people, leaving Tieyuan, despite his ambition, visibly panicked. Untreated Hanzhou soldiers are slaughtered, and even those trying to retrieve the Iron King Sword fall victim. Shuofeng Heye and Tieyuan, with a small contingent of soldiers, retreat to the torture rack and find themselves heavily encircled by Muru Hanshan's forces.
Recalling the massacre of his own Shuofeng tribe, an enraged Shuofeng Heye charges forward, seizes the Iron King Sword, and, with a powerful strike, kills Hanshan's warhorse, forcing Muru Hanshan off his steed. Hanshan quickly mounts a subordinate's horse and orders a retreat for the Muru cavalry. After the Muru cavalry withdraw, Shuofeng Heye returns the Iron King Sword to Tieyuan.
Ziyan scathingly mocks Tieyuan's incompetence, pointing out that he was terrified and helpless against a mere dozen Muru cavalry, allowing his kin to be slaughtered. Feeling his plan has failed and needing to vent his frustration, Tieyuan smashes everything in his tent. Shuofeng Heye tries to calm him, but Tieyuan angrily blames him for the loss of Tieduo, asserting that her departure from the Helan tribe was due to Shuofeng Heye's misunderstanding.
On her way to Sodameng's tribe, Tieduo is captured by a man. She is later seen by a campfire, reminiscing about her time with Shuofeng Heye. Longge Kun approaches her, sharing his hunted prey and expressing his desire for her to become his woman. Tieduo, her heart set on Shuofeng Heye, ignores his advances. She questions why the Longge tribe follows Sodameng's orders instead of answering the Iron King's call.
Longge Kun, offering her wine, explains the realities of tribal numbers and the Iron King's inability to sustain everyone without salt. As their conversation shifts to Sodameng's boat, Longge Kun realizes Tieduo intends to steal the boat for battle. However, the wine he gave her contains "star grass," causing Tieduo to collapse unconscious. Longge Kun then plans to trade her for salt.
Subsequently, Tieduo is sold by her captor to Sodameng's tribe, where slaves are brutally whipped and tortured in the prison. Upon being caged by Longge Kun, Tieduo asks his identity; he boasts of being the Longge tribe's greatest slave hunter. Tieduo scoffs at the thought of a mere slave hunter calculating against her, confidently declaring his luck will run out, though she refuses to reveal her own identity.
Meanwhile, at the Kyushu Inn, Muyun Hege visits Nanku Yueli before he departs for Hanzhou. Nanku Yueli initially refuses to see him, but Hege, fearing they might never meet again, forces open her door. He finds her tear-stained and she confesses her fear of goodbyes, especially with him. Moved, Hege embraces her tightly, acknowledging he knows she wrote to Xue Huo seeking his support. He asks Nanku Yueli to wait for his return, promising to give her everything she desires if he ever attains a high position.
