Ruhanjiang asserts his unwavering position to Muyun Lu, stating that regardless of Muyun Lu's royal status, he would never yield the girl he loves. Muyun Lu, having grown up in the deep palace and witnessed worldly coldness, holds a starkly different view. He advises Ruhanjiang to relinquish Su Yuning, believing that only his own status, power, and wealth can provide Su Yuning lifelong happiness.
Ruhanjiang disagrees, citing the simple happiness of Su Zhen (also known as Su Mumu) and Wang Duo as an example, contending that the most important thing is for two people to live happily together. That night, Wang Duo hesitates before revealing his true identity to Su Zhen. Su Zhen, deeply in love, chooses to follow him unconditionally, vowing that even if their future lives become less peaceful, she will accept it willingly.
She pledges to remain with him through life and death, committing to die with him if he falls in battle. In the middle of the night, all the villagers secretly rise and move, seemingly engaged in a covert operation. The next morning, Su Yuning knocks on Ruhanjiang's door, informing him of the strange disappearance of Su Zhen, Wang Duo, and all the villagers from Yishui Village.
Ruhanjiang, sensing something amiss, immediately instructs Su Yuning to pack their belongings so they can leave. Before departing, Su Yuning takes a small needle from Wang Duo's room. Meanwhile, in an underground city, members of Tianluo Hall worship their leader, Long Jinhuan (also referred to as Mr. Long). Ji Yuncong emerges, and Long Jinhuan introduces her, declaring that her commands are now his.
Ji Yuncong announces the current volatile situation, marked by strange celestial phenomena and chaos across Kyushu, which signals the Muyun family's inability to maintain control. She proclaims it is now their opportune moment to slaughter the Muyun clan and restore the Sheng Dynasty. Wang Duo expresses hesitation, reminding them that Tianluo's ancestral rule forbids interference in politics. Long Jinhuan responds that Tianluo also honors its promises.
Ji Yuncong then produces a Tianluo contract, clearly stating that a former Tianluo leader had once promised the Ji family to eliminate the Muyun clan, and now the time has come for Tianluo Hall to fulfill this pledge, overriding the non-interference rule out of a commitment to honesty. On the surface, Ruhanjiang prepares to send Muyun Lu and Su Yuning back to Tianqi City for their safety.
However, Muyun Lu adamantly refuses, insisting on braving Qingyu Ridge to find Longyuan Pavilion. He reveals that he has deciphered a secret sphere, which contains a treasure map whose mysteries can only be unlocked by a secret book located within Longyuan Pavilion. Since he is already near Yishui Village, he is unwilling to miss this opportunity. Suddenly, a group of black-clad figures appears from underground, seizing Muyun Lu and dragging him into a cave before anyone can react.
Ruhanjiang, managing only to protect Su Yuning, is distraught. He attempts to tell Su Yuning to wait on the surface, but she stabs him with the small needle she took from Wang Duo's room, rendering him unconscious. Her reasoning is twofold: she had been rescued by these underground people in the past, making her believe it was better for her to go, and she feared Ruhanjiang's impulsive nature would lead to conflict with Ji Yuncong.
Su Yuning enters the tunnel alone, where she is knocked unconscious by black-clad figures. She later awakens in a luxurious, brightly lit room. She encounters Ji Yuncong, whom she considers a sister. Ji Yuncong had rescued Su Yuning after she fell off a cliff four years prior, and they had known each other ever since. Su Yuning notes that Ji Yuncong has changed, her eyes now filled with hatred.
Su Yuning admires the superb paintings on the wall, prompting Ji Yuncong to recall her first meeting with Muyun Sheng, noting he was different from rumors. Su Yuning explains that she has come to find her friend, Muyun Lu, who was captured and brought underground.
Ji Yuncong, with a solemn expression, then reveals to Su Yuning that the Ji family has been secretly accumulating gold, forging armor, and building an army in the underground city, showcasing gold beads and armor hidden behind gold and silver doors. She takes Su Yuning to a secret room, also identified as the Ji family's ancestral hall, where a shrine for the Imperial Seal is located.
There, Ji Yuncong reveals her true identity as a princess of the former Sheng Dynasty and her mission. Su Yuning is shocked by Ji Yuncong's identity, noting that the Muyun family has treated the Ji family well, providing them with gold yearly and even constructing this opulent underground palace. She questions Ji Yuncong's deep-seated hatred. Ji Yuncong coldly retorts that these were originally the Ji family's possessions, and the better the Muyun family treated them, the more humiliated she felt.
Furthermore, she states that despite their outward benevolence, the Muyun family secretly kept the Heluo tribe watching them day and night, intending to confine them in this sunless place. Ji Yuncong opens the Imperial Seal shrine, revealing it to be empty. She explains that three hundred years ago, on the day the Muyun and Muru families breached the city, the ancestral emperor self-immolated with the Imperial Seal in Xueyu Tower, and it vanished thereafter.
Her father, unwilling to abandon his quest for revenge, secretly constructed three paths to the surface and, when Ji Yuncong was six, showed her the sky and snow outside. After that day, her father left to search for the Imperial Seal but never returned. She only recently learned he had died at the hands of Heluo slaves.
Consequently, she harbors an intense hatred for the Muyun family and is determined to fulfill her father's dream, vowing to kill all Muyun descendants to avenge generations of Ji family shame and hatred, even if the dynasty cannot be restored. Above ground, Ruhanjiang awakens to find Su Yuning gone. He mistakenly believes she has gone alone into the cave to save Muyun Lu because she loves him.
Though he declares he will no longer care for Su Yuning, Ruhanjiang, out of concern, jumps into the underground cave to rescue them both. Underground, Muyun Lu is bound on an altar, awaiting Ji Yuncong's judgment. Ji Yuncong brings Su Yuning to him, intending to torture and kill Muyun Lu in front of her to unleash years of pent-up hatred. Su Yuning pleads for Muyun Lu's life, asserting he is a good person.
Ji Yuncong adamantly refuses, explaining her profound hatred for the Muyun clan, whom she calls "bandits" for slaughtering and usurping the Great Sheng Dynasty after it had protected the world for a thousand years. Muyun Lu, defiant and proud even in peril, refuses to beg.
Instead, he scoffs at Ji Yuncong, asking if she hasn't read enough history, pointing out that by the end of the Sheng Dynasty, the people were already suffering, with power struggles and self-interest plunging the common folk into misery. He asserts that the Muyun family merely acted on behalf of heaven, working for the welfare of the people.
Muyun Lu's words further enrage Ji Yuncong, who stabs him again with a short knife, inflicting two wounds on his shoulder and belly, vowing to torture him to death. To save Muyun Lu, Su Yuning quickly snatches the knife from Ji Yuncong, holds it to Muyun Lu's neck, and reveals that Muyun Lu knows the secret map or whereabouts of the Imperial Seal, demanding his release.
Ji Yuncong is surprised by Muyun Lu's knowledge of the Seal's location but declares she wants both Muyun Lu and the clue. If Muyun Lu refuses to speak easily, she has various methods to torture him into revealing the information.
