Gu Lingse visited her mother, Mu Qiuhui, at the sanatorium. Her mother's condition was unstable, and she frequently had nightmares. The doctor informed Lingse that her mother's state had stabilized and urged her to visit more often. During the visit, a patient from the next ward, Zhao Guobang, entered and acted like a doctor before being led away. The name seemed to trigger a memory for Mu Qiuhui, who spoke fondly of a childhood friend named Guobang.
However, her condition then worsened, and she failed to recognize Lingse, calling her "little girl." Despite the confusion, Mu Qiuhui repeatedly encouraged Lingse to work hard with her father, Gu Huaiheng, and to take good care of him. Meanwhile, Tomorrow Group's first investment funds for the Mulin Town renovation project were deposited, forcing a reluctant Jiang Wenbin to give his tacit approval.
When Ye Chengshu tried to discuss the project, Jiang Wenbin refused to interfere, stating that Mulin Town was entirely Ye Chengshu's responsibility and warning him not to expect any help if things went wrong. To celebrate, Ye Chengshu invited Gu Lingse to a small, bustling restaurant. Despite being followed by Gu Huaiheng's men, they enjoyed their meal. When Ye Chengshu mentioned meeting Sunian, a woman from Mulin County, Lingse playfully declared herself a very possessive person.
Taking advantage of the noisy atmosphere, Ye Chengshu loudly confessed his feelings, saying, "I like you." Shortly after, a waiter accidentally spilled a hot dish, scalding Ye Chengshu's hand. Lingse insisted they leave to get medicine, but he downplayed the injury. Following Gu Huaiheng's instructions, Zhang Chengfeng and Li Polang began to sow discord. Zhang Chengfeng approached Jiang Han, revealing that his mother, Wen Jing, had died in the collapse of the "Garden in the Air" project.
This high-profile construction was led by Ye Nanchuan, with Gu Huaiheng as a partner who secured investors. Zhang Chengfeng claimed Ye Nanchuan hid the truth about the accident and that Jiang Wenbin had to "save the situation." He then fueled Jiang Han's resentment by criticizing Ye Chengshu's actions in the Mulin project and comparing his willfulness to his father's, urging Jiang Han to reconsider his place at Future Corporation.
At the same time, Li Polang met with Jiang Wenbin, stoking his frustrations about his years of hard work being overlooked while the Ye family reaped the benefits. Later, Ye Chengshu received a call from an informant warning him that Zhang Chengfeng and Li Polang were up to something, possibly orchestrated by Gu Huaiheng, and advising him to be cautious with Gu Lingse. Ye Chengshu dismissed the warning to Lingse.
He then shared his plan to hire Tomorrow Group for Mulin Town's publicity, which meant dealing with the autonomous head of their Publicity Department, Quan Zimo. Ye Chengshu called Quan Zimo, who, hearing Lingse's voice, insisted on meeting her in person. Lingse agreed to go alone to Dedao Garage, telling Ye Chengshu it was necessary for both professional and personal reasons.
At their meeting, Quan Zimo expressed his frustration, accusing Lingse of living according to her father's will and calling her and Ye Chengshu "dolls bound by commercial interests." He pleaded with her not to be a pawn in Gu Huaiheng's schemes. Lingse firmly told him to stop. She urged him to seriously consider the Mulin project for the sake of Tomorrow Group's interests and, after thanking him for his long-standing concern, asked him to stop wasting his time on her.
As the day ended, Gu Huaiheng waited on his yacht. He was informed that Jiang Wenbin was en route, and, surprisingly, that Jiang Han was also coming. Gu Huaiheng instructed his subordinate to intercept Jiang Han separately. Jiang Wenbin arrived at the yacht first. Meanwhile, Gu Huaiheng's man met Jiang Han elsewhere and presented him with a document: the "Construction Liability Statement of Garden in the Air." Both Jiang Wenbin and Jiang Han were now being drawn deeper into Gu Huaiheng's machinations.
