Afterwards, an assistant of Ye Chengshu distracted Gu Lingse's bodyguard, Bei Chen, creating a moment for them to speak alone.
Ye Chengshu advised her not to get too deeply involved in Dingzhuang Group's current predicament, which he characterized as a losing game, and assured her that if she needed anything, she could turn to him. Gu Lingse responded by sincerely kissing him, confirming her feelings despite the challenging circumstances they faced. At Future Group, a message began circulating among employees, warning of imminent layoffs following Dingzhuang's takeover and urging them to seek new employment immediately.
Director Jiang Wenbin addressed the anxious staff, acknowledging their concerns. He stated he would not prevent anyone from leaving for better opportunities, assuring them they would remain friends. However, he also pledged to protect the rights of those who chose to stay, promising to take them with him if he were ever to depart Future Group. His words provided some reassurance, prompting several employees to remain. Later, Ye Chengshu, disguised to avoid attention, met with Jiang Han.
Ye Chengshu revealed his plan to financially cripple Gu Huaiheng by shorting Future Group, thereby cutting off its capital chain and driving it into bankruptcy. He requested Jiang Han's help in preparing a press release that would declare the eco-floating island project's design as a mere concept, lacking any practical significance. However, Ye Chengshu clarified that while powerful magnetic forces could theoretically achieve buoyancy, such a field would lethally affect all living organisms, rendering the project impractical. He also highlighted unresolved issues concerning wind and earthquake prevention. Convinced, Jiang Han agreed to draft the press release. As soon as Ye Chengshu departed, Jiang Han's friendly demeanor dissipated, replaced by a sinister expression.
Gu Huaiheng, meanwhile, was pressing forward with the acquisition of Future Group, instructing Bei Chen to lead a Dingzhuang management team to take over its operations in an irregular early transfer. Gu Huaiheng assured Bei Chen that he would handle any trouble that arose. In the heated exchange that Ye Chengshu had engineered, Bei Chen reacted angrily to a provocation and physically struck an employee.
This incident quickly escalated into a staged mass resignation, with employees declaring their inability to work under such "hooliganism." The event successfully solidified Dingzhuang Group's public image as tyrannical, creating widespread unease and causing its reputation to collapse. Later that evening, Gu Lingse was having dinner at Ye Chengshu's house when she received a call about the public relations disaster. She immediately rushed back to her family home, where a furious Gu Huaiheng intended to fire Bei Chen.
Gu Lingse intervened, arguing that dismissing Bei Chen would be an admission of guilt. Instead, she proposed blaming Future Group's employees, presenting evidence that they were already job-hunting and had intentionally caused trouble. To divert public attention, she suggested fully launching the eco-floating island project and offered to personally handle securing investments. She urged Gu Huaiheng to continue purchasing Future Group shares to stabilize the stock price.
Driven by the opportunity to decisively defeat his rival Jiang Wenbin, Gu Huaiheng agreed to her plan. Grateful for her intervention, Bei Chen pledged his unwavering allegiance to Gu Lingse. Concurrently, Ye Chengshu arranged a meeting with Zhang Chengfeng and Li Polang.
