Treasure at Dawn Episode 11 Recap
> Treasure at Dawn Recap
Aware of the danger, Song Jingye entered Lin's Mansion, which was revealed to be a meticulously planned death trap. Once inside, he was tripped by a hidden mechanism in the attic, causing him to fall to his death. The mastermind was Li Zhizhuo, who had used a mysterious person within the mansion—Master Lin himself—to orchestrate the demise.
Master Lin, a member of the Breakwall organization, had faked his death to escape their control, but Song Jingye's death inadvertently led Fu Sheng to discover his hiding place. Fu Sheng and Gu Tian were drugged by Yunting and brought before Master Lin, her Senior Brother. Prepared to die to give Yunting a plausible explanation for the sages, Master Lin was stopped by her. She couldn't bring herself to kill the man who had cared for her since childhood.
Instead, she proposed a new plan: Master Lin would kill the unconscious Fu Sheng, Gu Tian, and Sun Siming, frame them for his own "death," and use the opportunity to escape and eventually rejoin Breakwall. She gave him a token to find her later. Just as Master Lin was about to act on the unconscious Fu Sheng, a conscious Sun Siming attacked from behind and killed him. Suddenly, Li Zhizhuo arrived.
Learning that Sun Siming had killed Master Lin, he praised him outwardly while secretly plotting to eliminate him. Fortunately, Wen Yu arrived with her guards and took Fu Sheng away, with Sun Siming seizing the opportunity to leave with them. The next day, Fu Sheng awoke and, after learning of Master Lin's death, asked Wen Yu if she had seen a woman in black. A jealous Wen Yu reminded them that she had saved them three times and demanded repayment.
She stipulated that Fu Sheng must cure her father; if successful, she would open a medical clinic for him in Xichuan. Gu Tian immediately insisted on getting a share of the clinic. Meanwhile, Xubu Huai arrived at the Lord's Mansion with lavish betrothal gifts to marry Wen Yu, but she furiously sent him away.
Afterward, Wen Yu's father, Lord Wen Yu, tried to reason with his daughter, but their argument escalated until Lord Wen Yu collapsed from a relapse of his illness. Per Lord Wen Yu's request, Fu Sheng had been concealing the severity of his condition from Wen Yu. However, the observant Wen Yu noticed Fu Sheng's troubled expression and secretly knelt before him, pleading with him to save her father.
She explained that he was her only family and her reason for living. Deeply moved, Fu Sheng promised to do his best. Li Zhizhuo reported to Yunting that Sun Siming had killed the "traitor" Master Lin, expecting praise. Instead, Yunting was overcome with grief. She dismissed Li Zhizhuo, claiming an errand from the sage, then collapsed weeping beside Master Lin's body. Later, an attendant brought Yunting medicine; she initially refused but relented and drank it after the attendant knelt.
Worried they would be killed if they failed to cure Lord Wen Yu, Gu Tian suggested they flee. Fu Sheng refused, unwilling to let Wen Yu become an orphan. Resigned, Gu Tian agreed to stay and help investigate tussah silk, assigning the task to Hulu, who was to seek out Feng Qianli. Gu Tian then went to bid farewell to Ying Ying, but after seeing her, he realized his true feelings and decided to stay in Xichuan.
Li Zhizhuo visited Sun Siming at the stable, feigning concern over a mysterious eye injury Sun Siming had developed. He probed for any secrets Sun Siming might have learned at Lin's Mansion, but Sun Siming feigned ignorance, claiming he was unconscious the entire time and attributing his injury to being "possessed." Seemingly satisfied, Li Zhizhuo praised Sun Siming and gave him a "great gift"—a beautiful woman. However, Sun Siming took the woman home and gifted her to his brother.
As they left, the woman revealed a sinister smile. Later, as Sun Siming examined the gauze scarf—the token Yunting had given Master Lin—Yunting suddenly appeared. To save himself, Sun Siming fabricated a story, claiming the dying Master Lin gave him the token and a handkerchief with a message: Yunting must flee, as Li Zhizhuo had betrayed them. Torn between this story and Li Zhizhuo's accusation that Sun Siming was the killer, Yunting was unsure what to believe.
Sun Siming vowed to prove his words, and she left after giving him her own token. Shortly after, Sun Siming's arm became immobile. Fearing a relapse of the snake venom, he rushed to find Fu Sheng, who was in a deep debate with his inner consciousness over the proper treatment for Lord Wen Yu. Fu Sheng examined Sun Siming and confirmed it was not snake venom, though his arm was indeed paralyzed. At the Lord's Mansion, Feng Qianli arrived to report to Lord Wen Yu, presenting him with a detailed report on the lives of both Fu Sheng and Gu Tian.
